CHURCH, Gilbert
Arnold Dexter - 77, of Windsor, died September 23 1996, in
Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Belmont, he was the
son of the late Dexter and Arbella (Wallace) Church. He was a
retired construction supervisor; he was a member of Windsor
Volunteer Fire Department; an adherent of Windsor United Baptist
Church and a member of Roddy Crowe Singers. He is survived by
his wife, the former Shirley Malvina Hanes; sons, Gilbert Jr.;
Daniel, Halifax; daughters, Gail, Ottawa; Dana Harvey, Windsor;
Roxanna Hall, Waverly; brothers, Elliot, Poplar Grove; sisters,
Mrs. Eileen (Oscar) Purdy, Montreal; Shirley Ermel, Hanover,
Ont.; Mrs. Elizabeth (Lloyd) Taplin, White Lake, Ont.; Mrs.
Dianna (Willard) Bishop, Kentville; six grandchildren; a
great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a granddaughter. Funeral
service was held September 26 in Windsor United Baptist Church,
Rev. Ron Baxter officiating. Burial in Maplewood Cemetery,
Windsor. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society or Windsor Fire Department.

MUMFORD, Rev.
Dr. Robert W. - 70, of PEI died September 22, 1996, in Queen
Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown. Born in Windsor, he was the
son of Rupert and Emma (Underwood) Mumford. He graduated from
Dalhousie University and Pine Hill Divinity Hall; he was
ordained in 1961 by the United Church of Canada; he earned a
Master of Theology degree from Princeton Theological Seminary in
1971 and was granted an honorary doctorate in 1984 from Queen's
University, Kingston, Ont; he was a faculty member at Queens
from 1974-1980; he was a well known and respected parish
minister for almost 35 years; he served in five congregations in
Quebec and the Maritimes and in 1980 served in St. George's
Church, Toronto; he acted as Minister of Pastoral Visitation at
Royal York Road United Church and Theologian in Residence at
Timothy Eaton Memorial Church; he retired in 1995 to Prince
Edward Island. He is survived by his wife, Coleen; daughters,
Susan, Judy Belanger; son, Peter; a granddaughter. Funeral
service was held September 24 in Trinity United Church,
Charlottetown. Burial in East Stanhope Road Cemetery. Donations
may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of PEI.

LYNCH (Bartlett) Eva Katherine
- 82, Truro, died October 31, 1996, in Hillcrest Manor,
Truro. Born at MacPhees Corner, she was a daughter of the late
Ezra and Catherine (MacPhee) MacPhee. She was a former employee
of Stanfield's, Truro. She was a member of First United Church,
Truro, and a former member of Royal Canadian Legion, Truro
branch. Surviving are daughter, Pauline Benteau, Riverview,
N.B.; a granddaughter; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie
Pineo, Shubenacadie; Ethel Bartlett, Truro; Della Weeks,
Kentville; Lucy Cox, Bible Hill; brothers, Elisha, Shubenacadie;
Harry, Truro; Wendell, Cape Breton. She was predeceased by
brothers, Ralph, Cyril; sister, Etta MacPhee. Visitation 12 noon
Saturday until time of funeral at 2 p.m., both in Ettinger
Funeral Home, Shubenacadie, Rev. Eric Bacon officiating. Burial
in MacPhees Corner Cemetery. Donations to Alzheimer Society of
Nova Scotia or any charity.
