Hants
County, Nova Scotia, Canada |
New to Hants County?
|
Hants County occupies the
central part of the
Province of Nova
Scotia, Canada. The County of Hants was created in 1781
out of one of the original counties --
King's County. Once comprised of seven townships in two
divisions,
Hants
County currently has four municipal divisions: the
Town of
Windsor, the
Town of Hantsport, the
Municipality
of Hants West and the
Municipality
of Hants East. Hants has long been associated with
traditional farming, mining, lumbering and at one time had great
ship-building along the north shore areas. The county remains
primarily a rural area to this day. Windsor, Hantsport and
Shubenacadie are the main towns in the county. The
2001 census of indicates that the County of Hants
had a population totaling 40,513, an increase of 2.6% from
39,483 in 1996.

McLellan family reunion
at Noel Shore in 1907 - "I have two photos taken at a McLellan family reunion at
Noel Shore in 1907. My great grandmother Mary (McLellan) Hill is
the seated woman in the front row in the photo of the group of
seven; she can also be seen in the larger group photo second
from the left in the back row. Mary was the daughter of Samuel
Densmore McLellan and Hannah Faulkner. Are there any cousins who
can help identify any of the other McLellans? I would be most
appreciative. I have the names of Mary's brothers and sister,
but I don't know who's who by face."

Making the Most of RootsWeb's Message Boards and Mailing Lists
Mailing lists and message boards are two of the resources at RootsWeb that most researchers use. They offer incredible opportunities for beginning researchers as well as the veteran family historians.
The index of all of the 27,800+ RootsWeb mailing lists is here
http://lists.rootsweb.com/
and you can find the more than 140,650 message boards from here:
http://boards.rootsweb.com/
So why both lists and boards? While there are many similarities, there are differences and occasions when one or both will best suit your research needs. Both mailing lists and message boards can be found for a vast array of surnames, localities, and topics and are completely free to use. Each forum provides an opportunity to post a query or data to learn or share information, make contact with fellow researchers, or help others by making data publicly available to all. Both offer browsing and searching of posted messages.
