Annie Early Wheeler was the second of General Wheeler's children.  She was born on 31 July, 1868.  As a young woman, she followed her father (a General of US Volunteers) and her brother to Cuba during the Spanish American War.  She became a nurse and Clara Barton put her in charge of a hospital there.  She was known as the "Angel of Santiago."
