COUPLE OBSERVES GOLDEN WEDDING

Cairo, Neb, Nov. 1. (Special) --- Mr. and Mrs. Hans SIEK, residents of Cairo for several years observed the 50th anniversary of their marriage at their home on Monday.

On Sunday a reunion of the members of the family was held at the home with dinner being served to all.

Open house was held on Monday between the hours of 3 and 8 p. m. and nearly 130 guests called to pay their respects to the honored couple and were served refreshments.

Mr. and Mrs. SIEK, though requesting no gifts, received many beautiful gifts and bouquets of flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. SIEK were both born in Germany. He coming here at the age of 21 and Mrs. SIEK at the age of 13.

Margaret HALTDORF and Hans SIEK were united in marriage on Oct. 30, 1883 at Grand Island, Neb. in the old court house. This union were born 12 children, 4 dying in infancy and a son Dr. John SIEK passing away at Kansas City in 1925. The living children are 4 daughters, Mrs. Anna RUNGE of Gunnison, Colo., Mrs. Ella SCHUETT of Shelton, Nebr., Mrs. Rose PETERS of St. Michael, Neb. and Mrs. Margaret MILLER of Wood River; 3 sons, Pete of Shelton, and August and Ernest of Cairo, all of whom were present Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. SIEK have 36 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Both of the honored couple are enjoying unusually good health.

Mr. SIEK has returned to his native country twice on visits. He can tell many interesting stories of early days in Hall county. Cairo being a small village when he first came here. He says that on many occasions he has hunted rabiits in what is now North Grand Island.
