BUXTON CEMETERIES

CASEY CEMETERY--Buxton Village, NC

Location: From the Radio Compass Station, follow the old road to the first bridge. The cemetery is just to the right on the hillside. The condition is good and there are four marked graves. The earliest grave is 1907. It is owned by the Casey heirs.

CAGE ETHERIDGE CEMETERY-Manteo, NC

Location: Located about one mile from Manteo. To reach it, you turn off the highway at the Manteo High School building and proceed down a dirt road about a mile. It is on the left side of the dirt road. The owner is Cage Etheridge and was surveyed on Dec. 28-29 1938. There are eight graves and fifteen unmarked ones with the earliest marked grave being 1924. The genera1 condition of the cemetery is very good and is cleared of all weeds and bushes.

SPENCE ETHRIDGE CEMETERY--Manteo, NC

Location: The cemetery is located about a quarter of a mile from the Ferry Dock on the left hand side of the road. The graves are about one hundred yards from the road. The graves are down in a swamp and unmarked, but the local people say they are over one hundred years old. The cemetery is in very bad condition with overgrown weeds and bushes. There is appx. four unmarked graves. The owner of this cemetery is R.B. Etheridge. The site was found and surveyed on 12 Sept. 1938.
