Seek info on ELY, RAINES and GALLIEN. Evalina Ely was a relative who
provided my great-aunt information on our family. I do not know her
relation, only that she lived in the late 1800's, early 1900's. My gggf
was Hoppodyle Derzibain Gallien, born about 1800. He was french Catholic
and I do not know where he was born. His wife was Azzenia, and I believe
that she was born in LA. She was my ggm's mother; my ggm was Marie (or
Mary) Louise Gallien. She was born 1-16-1875 in LA and married Felix P.
Raines (born about 1867). Felix and Marie had 7 children, 1 of whom was
my gm, Marie Elmena, born 3-8-1908 (I think this is wrong - she was a
little cagy about her birthdate), in Natchitoches Parrish.
According to family info., my gggf Gallien was a planter in/near Grand
Encore; he is listed in the 1880 census as a planter. According to my
great-aunt, my ggf Raines was found by S.P. Raines (later a sheriff of
Natchitoches Parrish) on a dusty lane "fairly well dressed",
placed behind a horse and later adopted by Mr. Raines. I believe his
name in the 1880 census was Felix "Bouly" and also seek info.
on the BOULY family. Felix Raines reportedly died about the time Marie
Elmena was born, and is buried in Campte Cemetery. Other family members
(Gallien?) are also reportedly interred there. Is there any way to
obtain cemetery records or church records for Parrish members? The
family was Catholic and attended/was educated in church/church schools.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.

I have been researching my ancestor, James Graham ca.1788, SC,
who was married to Ellender Brewer ca.1790. They settled in
what is now Washington Par., and had many children. One of their
sons, George Washington Graham, settled in the Natchitoches
area around 1864, and raised a family. I have been told that
Stanley Graham, who is now deceased, had placed a Graham family
chart in the Natchitoches Gen. & Hist. library--and that this is
James Graham's family. Could someone please check this for me.
I would be overjoyed to find that this is true. Thanks for any
trouble. Inita Segura

Avoyelles Parish. She subsequently married Lewis Franklin (Frank) Nichols

"Felix" and "Beloni" are remembered by my Vercher

suspect John came from there. Any information about his parents would be
greatly appreciated!
