(This is how it is listed on
Find-A-Grave, but there is no listing for it on KYGenWeb. This
cemetery has been destroyed and no longer exists, but I think the
information is interesting, in terms of the Rudys being a prominent
family in Louisville).
The Herr and Rudy
families were prominent landowners in Louisville, Kentucky in the
1700s-1800s. The home of George Vulcan Rudy and his wife, Eliza Herr
(daughter of John Herr, Sr. and Susannah Rudy) was located at the
Vulcan Rudy House at 4319 Westport Road. When Westport Road was
widened, the graveyard was destroyed. With the widening of Westport
Road and the development of a new subdivision on the old Vulcan Rudy
land, the address of the house has changed to 1001 Westgate Place,
but it is still listed on the National Register of Historic Places
as 4319 Westport Road.
This was thought
to be the location of the graves of George Vulcan Rudy and his
children, Emily Rudy and James M. Rudy.
