One of the goals of this Web site is to get both members and non-members more active in the society and La Porte County genealogy in general, having fun and benefitting in the process. Our goal is to provide more information and possibilities for both members and non-members alike. Below are some ideas to help you get more out of our Web site and your membership.

Update Your Contact Information

This is important (especially your current email address). When you send in your yearly dues or contact us for any reason, please provide your current email address, as well as your postal address. We occasionally send out notifications about upcoming events you might find useful. It's just nice to stay involved and in contact.

Contribute Articles or Data

If you have information or data to share, you are invited to submit it for inclusion in our quarterly newsletter, The Door, for others to read. Information should be on La Porte County, IN, genealogy / history. Articles / data whose rights are owned by others cannot be posted without their permission. So copyright / source information will be required for any submissions. You will be given credit for the submission in the posting unless you desire otherwise. Volunteer

Like most organizations, the La Porte County (IN) Genealogical Society is always looking for help from its members. Do you enjoy planning events? Transcribing records? Proofreading or indexing publications? There are many opportunities as a volunteer to become an active participant in LPCIGS activities. You can give as little or as much time as you are able. For those in a position to contribute more time, volunteering might lead to an opportunity to present a program, to chair a committee, to help run the organization through nomination to serve as an officer or board member.
