Baker Prairie Baptist Church

The old Bible used in Bakers Prairie Church is now in the home of Mr. And Mrs. Robert Sampson, Petersburg, Illinois. It was translated out of the original tongues dated 1888 and presented to that church by William Sampson and John Harden Elmore, August 2, 1891.

Mr. And Mrs. Robert Clark were living in the parsonage at the time it was moved across the road to the east and farther back in the field. Mrs. Ann Clark was making bread the morning they moved. By the time, the two and story house was moved the bread was ready to bake. The Henry Robinsons lived in this house before it was torn down.

Baker Prairie property was sold by the First Baptist Church of Petersburg for $200.00. The acreage included 2 acres with acre reserved for the cemetery.
