MEMBERSHIP
Meetings are held in the front lobby at 700 E. Main St. the second Tuesday of each month at 7 PM, except August and December. These meetings are generally set aside for a special activity as determined annually. In addition, the club meets the fourth Thursday of each month in the lobby at 700 E. Main St. at 11:30 AM for the “Brown Bag” genealogy meeting. You are encouraged to bring your laptop.
Individual memberships are $25. Family memberships (at one address) are $30 per year for the calendar year. The CHRONICLE quarterly is included in the membership. It is published in February, May, August, and November. It includes information extracted from Montrose County records. A surname index is included in the November issue. Members wishing to have their quarterly mailed may do so for an additional yearly $5 postage fee.
Genealogical Code of Ethics
As a member of the Montrose County Genealogical Society I agree that certain principles should be observed. I therefore agree to:
•Promote an honest approach to genealogy, family history and local history
•Present research results in a clear, well-organized manner, full and accurately cite references and refrain from knowingly misquoting or misrepresenting sources or data.
•Give proper credit to those who supply information or provide assistance
•Comply with the current rules of copyright law
•Be courteous to library and other research facility personnel and treat records with care and respect; support efforts to locate, collect and preserve records; refrain from mutilating, rearranging, or removing from their proper place all printed, microfilm or electronic records.
•Promote the welfare of the genealogical community
