Our collection includes an extensive section for Montrose County.  It includes historic Montrose newspapers: 1899-1939; original courthouse, land and probate records; books and pamphlets; school yearbooks and surname and subject files.


We also strive to preserve and make accessible materials from the counties of Delta, Dolores, Gunnison, Hinsdale, La Plata, Mesa, Montezuma, Ouray, San Juan, and San Miguel.


   The center has 5 computers with hi-speed wifi internet access and Ancestry.com.


Use of all resources is free.


    Fore-Kin Trails Genealogical Society was organized in March 1981 and incorporated            

    January 1982.  Our purpose is to promote interest in genealogical research, to share

    knowledge and resources, to locate and preserve records, and to assist in the

    expansion of genealogical materials in the Montrose area. 


    Our society is a member of the Colorado Council of Genealogical Societies. We are a        

    registered non profit 501 (c) (3) corporation.
