BAKER - Alma Anne (nee Haus) July 9, 1923 - October 20, 2013. It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Alma on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Cymric, Sask. Alma was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Jake in 1992; her son Reg in 1976; her parents, John and Katherine Haus; her three brothers, Albert, Harold and Lorne; and sister Irene Butler. She will be remembered by her daughter Shirley (Clifford) Kolstad; sons, Larry (Rhonda) Baker, Brian Baker and Douglas (Jackie) Baker; grandchildren, Bradley Kolstad, Dana (Brett) Stinson, Heather (Ryan) Gilbert, Tanna (Justin) Young, Andrea (Sam) Fraser, Justine and Emily Baker; and nine great-grandchildren, who were the source of many smiles in her last days. Alma is also survived by brothers, Ernie, Herb (Bernice), Ken (Earlene) Haus; sisters, Elsie (Harry) Neugebaur and Marlene Wilson; as well as many nieces and nephews who were very dear to her. Thank you to the wonderful staff at Pasqua Hospital in the CSU, who made her final days comfortable and peaceful. Funeral Service will be held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue, Regina, SK on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A private interment will be held at a later date. BARKER - Natalie "Dolly" (nee Youck) born April 13, 1921 in Duval, Saskatchewan passed away at home quietly in her sleep on Wednesday February 26, 2003. Beloved wife of Ross Barker. Loving mother of Karen (John, Friend), Kathryn Barker and Lorraine (Mario Gallaccio). Dear sister of Esther Robbins, Elsie Mossman, Bertha Erhardt and Hilda Vetter. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sisters Katie Erhardt, Molly Youck, Mary Dent, Emma Bauer and her brothers Rev. Alex Youck and Wilfred Youck. Resting at Hetherington and Deans Funeral Chapel, in Niagara Falls, where the family will receive family and friends on Thursday 7:00-9:00 p.m. and on Friday 2:00-4:00 & 7:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church (Victoria Ave.) on Saturday March 1, 2003 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens. BAUER - Emma (nee Hilderman). It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Emma Bauer, fondly known by many as "Aunt Emma," on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Pioneer Village Nursing Home at the age of 99. Emma was born in 1914 in Duval, Saskatchewan. She was predeceased by her loving husband of almost 67 years, Robert "Bob" Bauer; infant daughter Elva Anne at birth; parents, Godfrey and Katherine (nee Wiebert) Hilderman; brothers, Godfrey (Rose), Henry (Clara) and Dave; brother-in-law Norman Hepting and his son Murray Hepting; mother and father-in-law Godfrey and Caroline Bauer; brothers-in-law Godfrey, Ernest and stepbrother-in-law Henry; stepsisters-in-law Lydia and Martha Hilderman; nephew-in-law Larry Bauer; as well as other nephews, nieces and cousins. Emma is survived by her only sister Elsie Hepting (nee Hilderman) of Regina, her brother Dave's partner Bea Hilderman of Regina, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at New Hope Lutheran Church, 370 McIntosh Street North, Regina on Friday, May 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Liz Kuglin-Alyea officiating. BAUER - Emma (nee Youck). It is with regret that we an nounce the passing of Emma Bauer (nee Youck) on November 9, 2001, af ter a very brief illness. Emma was born on January 12, 1920 at Duval, SK. After attending school there, she worked at various jobs in the Strasbourg area at which time she met and married Ernie Bauer in 1940. Emma and Ernie farmed in the Strasbourg area until Ernie's passing in 1962 at which time Emma moved to Regina. Emma was employed at Simpson's, Co-operators and later Sears from where she retired in 1985. Emma was a compassionate, fun-loving person who loved people. She lived for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emma loved her church for which she was always willing and ready to volunteer. As well, volunteering in the community, such as the Cancer Society and Heart and Stroke Foundation, was very important to her. She served on the Council of Christ Lutheran Church, visited shut-ins and enjoyed time with her family and friends. She has left a great emptiness in the hearts of many. Left to mourn are two children Hazel Schultz of Prince Albert and Larry (Pat) Bauer of Regina; her four grandchildren; Penny (Paul) Phillips of Edmonton, Carmen (Thomas) Rigakis of Edmonton, Todd Bauer of Toronto and Troy Bauer of Edmonton; her great-grandchildren twins, Braxton and Breanna Phillips. She also leaves to mourn her sister Dolly (Ross) Barker of Port Colborne, Ontario, sister Esther Robbins of Regina, sister Bertha (David) Erhardt of South Burnaby, B.C., sister Hilda Vetter of Lincoln, Nebraska, sister Elsie (Ed) Mossman of Edmonton, brother Wilfred (Isabel) Youck of Regina, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Robert and Emma Bauer of Regina as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Bob passed away on Wednesday, August 16th, 2006 at the Pasqua Hospital, at the age of 94. He was born in 1912 in Duval, SK. He was predeceased by his parents Godfrey and Caroline; brothers Godfrey, Ernest; stepbrother Henry; step-sister Lydia; and an infant daughter Elva Anne, at birth. Bob is survived by his loving wife and dedicated companion of almost 67 years, Emma (nee Hilderman); sister-in-law Elsie (Norman) Hepting; and many nieces, nephews and friends. BENDER - Molly Bender of Last Mountain Pioneer Home, Strasbourg and formerly of Duval district passed away December 26, 2002 at the age of 94 years. Predeceased by her husband Fred. She leaves to mourn two brothers Fred Jauck and Ernest (Elsie) Jauck, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Janaury 4, 2003 at 2 PM from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Duval. Rev. Martin Olsen officiating. Interment: Duval Cemetery. BIEBER - Frederick J. A. Bieber, age 89 years, of Hudson, New Hampshire, and formerly of Rochester, New York, died Monday, May 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 6, 1922 in Duval, SK, son of the late Frederick and Eleanora (Kendel) Bieber. Frederick was also predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Everett and Katherine Nielson. Fred was the husband of M. Phyllis (Davidson) Bieber of Hudson, NH, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. A WWII veteran with the Canadian Air Force, he made 47 combat missions over Europe. Fred later naturalized to the United States and was employed for many years with Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. While in Rochester, he volunteered for over 15 years at the former Parkridge Hospital. Upon moving to NH, he began volunteering at the Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua. Fred was an avid golfer, gardener and woodworker. Besides his loving wife Phyllis, survivors include three sons, and a daughter, Frederick R. Bieber and his wife Jane of Roslindale, MA, Susan Bieber Kennedy of Washington, DC, Andrew J. Bieber of Chicago, IL, and Thomas W. Bieber and his wife Brigid of Boxborough, MA; five sisters: Edith Borsa of Vancouver, BC, Elaine Yung and her husband Harold of Strasbourg, SK, Ruth Peters and her husband Fred of Salem, OR, Doris Mitchell and her husband Stewart of Francis, SK, and Leona Hill of Coquitlam, BC; eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial visitation was held on Thursday, May 24 at the Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Hudson, NH. BJELLAND - Ralph, of Strasbourg and formerly of Bulyea District, passed away June 8, 2007 at the age of 94. Ralph was born December 2, 1912 in the Lakeside District (Duval District). He was predeceased by his sisters Inga, Ruth, Agnes and brother Dewey. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Marie, daughters Bev (Geo) Beckett, Rilla (Wes) Holowatuk, son Raye (Gloria), eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, sister Edna (Bert) Griffiths, numerous nieces and nephews. BLAKE - Frank Robert, of Regina, SK, formerly of Duval, SK, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2007 at the age of 75 years. He was predeceased by his parents Geoff and Lois. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his family, wife June; daughters Barb (Larry) Firth and Nancy Blake (Warren Dunitz); granddaughters Tayler and Tristyn Firth; sister Dorothy Miller; aunts Margaret Frizzell and Jean Frizzell; in-laws Jim and Carol Sangster; cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial service will be held at Regina Funeral Home, Hwy #1 East, Regina, SK on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Unit 2-5, Wascana Rehabilitation Centre and Palliative Care staff at Pasqua Hospital for the care given to Frank. BOYD - Austin John Taylor (December 17, 1908 - March 30, 2012). Austin (Bud) John Taylor Boyd passed away peacefully at Wascana Veteran's wing in his 103rd year. Bud was predeceased by his wife Peggy in 1998 and only sibling Mildred Dillon in 2003. He is survived by his daughter Margaret (John), grandchildren Brian, Joel and Haley, niece Elsie Newson and her children Pat and Chuck and nephew Jim Dillon. When Bud was born in Lyleton, Manitoba, the Victorian era still cast its long shadow over pre WWI Canada. Bud grew up in Duval, SK where his Dad had a hardware store. At age 16 Bud started work for the Royal Bank after finishing Grade 11, as no Grade 12 was offered in Duval. He was with the bank approximately 16 years at Eyebrow, Lanigan and Saskatoon. It was in Saskatoon he met Peggy, who was the private secretary to the bank manager. They were married in Saskatoon, August 14, 1943. Bud left the bank when salaries dropped to $30 per month with the help of his father he purchased a general store at Leslie, SK. He sold the store to join the Air Force and obtained the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Bud spent time at various bases on the west coast and then went overseas. He was posted in Exeter, England as well as in Belgium and Holland. Post war he was active with the Air Force Association and its Benevolent Fund. He also assisted for many years with the Air Cadet program in Regina. When Bud was discharged in 1946 he returned to Victoria where his parents and wife Peggy were living. He was unable to find employment in the city. He almost purchased a confectionary store but was concerned that his mother would be too bossy! He and Peggy returned to SK and he began working for the SK Hospital Insurance Plan from 1947 to 1973 when he retired as Director. Bud was a fair and kind "boss". In the early years there were no morning coffee breaks and no access to a coffee spot. Bud made arrangements for coffee to be brought in every morning at 10 for the entire staff! Bud was active in many organizations, usually as treasurer, including the Regina United Way, Westminster United Church and Sunday School and Lumsden Beach Council. He and Peggy delivered Meals on Wheels until one thought they should be receiving meals! Bud worked hard to make Regina a better place to live. He truly loved his adopted city, its Cathedral neighbourhood and Wascana Park. Last summer he enjoyed drives around the city and stopping for coffee on 13th Avenue. Bud and Peggy enjoyed many summers at Lumsden Beach. Bud always had many projects on the go. The beach was Peggy's "department" except for Bud's yearly swim in August. After retirement Bud and Peggy travelled throughout Canada, the U.S.A. and Europe. He made his last trip to Europe in 2000 with his daughter. Bud read widely and was a great supporter of higher education. He assisted each of his grandchildren with their university education while providing them a place to stay. At the age of 96 Bud moved to live with his daughter and son-in-law on their farm at Wapella, SK. While he always insisted he was just visiting, he adjusted very well to farm life. He became a regular on coffee row. He joined his first seniors club and enjoyed the friendship of the locals. He was a patient man, whether waiting for Marg and Haley shopping or out fencing or rounding-up cattle with John. Bud loved cats and one could often find him sitting in the sun with several cats or encouraging the "outside cats" into the house. In 2008 the time had come for Bud to move to the veteran's wing at Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina. Bud settled into his new home and enjoyed many of the activities. Once he found out that coffee and cookies were available at the Red Cross workshop he was a regular visitor. He received great care from the professional and compassionate staff at Wascana. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the staff who ensured that he was treated with dignity and respect. He had longevity and quality of life. Marg and John also thank the staff for making our last few days with Bud meaningful and comfortable. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Bud's Life will be held at Westminster United Church, 13th Ave and Cameron Street in Regina on Friday, May 11 at 1:30 p.m. A time of fellowship will follow. BRAUMBERGER - Hermine Margaret (nee Schmidt) born October 13th, 1933 in Duval, Sask. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 12, 2004. She is pre-deceased by mother and father George and Anna Schmidt; sister Helen Rein; brothers Alfred Schmidt, Christian Schmidt. She is survived by her loving partner and best friend, George Young; daughter Daphne (Ben) Pattee; son Greg (Lori) Graff; grandchildren Eric (Renee) Pattee, Jennifer Graff; great grandchildren Drake Pattee, Julia Pattee; sisters Emma Kelln, Martha (Ellis) Karst, Bertha (Fred) Green, Alice (Harry) Hameluck; brothers Harold (Ellen) Schmidt, Wallace(Shiela) Schmidt; sister-in-law Elsie Schmidt; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her like a mother. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 17th at 10:00 a.m. at Regina Funeral Home BRIGDEN - Brenda Irene (nee Essery) was born May 31, 1953 at Nokomis, SK and lost her fight with breast cancer on November 9, 2011 in Arcola, SK with her devoted husband Allan by her side. Brenda conducted her struggle against this disease with such grace and dignity that she greatly comforted and fortified her family and friends. Brenda was the fourth child to Allan and Mabel Essery of Duval, SK. She attended primary and public school in Duval and Strasbourg, SK, where she was fully engaged in her school, church, community, 4-H, sports and especially music. During the early 1970's she was part of the Strasbourg area `Young Canadians' singing group that was widely recognized. She was much loved by her brothers and sister, doing the things that kids enjoy growing up in a small town. She loved spending time at the lake and playing with her friends. Brenda graduated from Business College before she married Allan Brigden of Kisbey, SK in 1978. Brenda and Al settled into farm life and their union was blessed with 3 fine boys; Drew, Devon, Preston and Al's son Todd. "The Boys", as she so often called them, were Brenda's object of greatest pride and affection. She saw to it that they had everything they needed to make their way in the world. She was always there to help when help was needed, stand firm when required, and above all love them as only a Mother can. In her spare time Brenda took great pride in her yard. A labour of love, she enjoyed landscaping, flowers, and grass a-plenty. She loved to mow the grass. She truly enjoyed her time sitting quietly in the sunroom with the birds singing and the beauty of summer sunsets. Brenda became involved in the Kisbey community from the start. Church, Rec Centre, Fowl Suppers, and all manner of activities that make a rural community a great place to live. She was a hard working farm wife and mother doing a ton of wash, cooking endless meals, and caring for an active family as they faced life's challenges. Brenda was very close to her mother Mabel, and the two of them often worked together on various projects and tasks over the years. She was a dependable sister to her siblings, always willing to help when she could. Brenda took great delight in her grandsons, with many cherished hours spent in her arms. She also enjoyed numerous visits to Texas, which included endless shopping with Susan and Eve. In recent years she was thrilled to be able to continue with her singing, joining with a local group of women that were known as The Kindred Spirits. Brenda and Al were fortunate that they were able to make a number of overseas trips, including Africa, Tahiti, New Zealand, Australia, Central America, Europe, and others. It turned out that Brenda turned `Al the Farmer' into quite the tourist. Great friendships were formed on each of these trips, and plans always made for the next trip. Brenda is predeceased by her beloved mother Mabel (2011), and brother Ron (1991). She is survived by husband Allan; sons, Drew, Devon, Preston (Taure); grandsons, Jhett and Kruz, all of Kisbey area, and Todd (Tanya) of Calgary; father Allan of Regina; sister Wanda of Edmonton; brother Dean (Susan) of Tiki Island, TX; sisters-in-law, Lois (Neil) of Calgary and Linda (Eldon) of Edmonton; brother-in-law Ross (Joan) of Medicine Hat, and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Pasqua Hospital Ward 3B, and especially the Arcola Health Centre where she was treated with such kindness and personal care that we are forever in their debt. Especially Dr. Chal Chal, Dr. McLeod and Dr. Morin. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arcola Health Centre in Brenda's memory would be appreciated. Greg Grace officiating. BROWN - William (February 22, 1926 - August 9, 2013). Bill was born in Duval, Sask., the only son of Bessie and Bud Brown. He worked for the City of Regina Transit Department before retiring to Duncan, BC and later to Victoria. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joy Derby and Margaret Frizzell of Strasburg, Sask. Bill is survived by his wife Elta; daughter Leslie (Bruce Parisian) of Victoria; son Garnet (Catherine Gile) of Seattle and three beloved grandsons, Drew Parisian (Amber Seguin) of Victoria and Owen and Evan Brown of Seattle. Bill is also survived by his sister June Charlton of Regina. The family will gather at a later date to celebrate the life of this exceptional man. BROWN - William Edward "Eddie" passed away on May 12, 2007 at the age of 78. He was born in Duval on January 13, 1929 and farmed in the Duval district all his life. He is survived by his sisters Wilma Mann, Irene (Alex) Schira, Iris Pickel, Alice (Norm) Erickson, Mabel Kerr, brothers Stacey (Merle), Arthur (Candy), Allan (Sheryll) and Donald, brother-in-law Edward Schira, numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. He was predeceased by his parents, two sisters Inez Schira and Helen Doehl, sister-in-law Sandra Brown, brothers-in-law Bertram Mann, Melvyn Kerr, Lloyd Doehl and Gerald Pickel. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Friday May 18, 2007 at 10:30 AM in Duval Cemetery. CHARLTON - Doreen June (nee Brown) was born to Bud and Bessie Brown of Duval, SK on July 1, 1923. June was the name preferred by her father, so the name Doreen remained only in her "D. June" signature. June admired her older sister Joy (Derby), appreciating her humour and quick wit. She engaged in a lifelong sibling rivalry with her younger sister Margaret (Frizzell) but had to concede Margaret's "big heart". The youngest of the family, Bill Brown, was all she hoped for in a brother. June and her sisters doted on him. June is the last member of Bud and Bessie's family.June received her education in a one room school house in Dunkeld, SK before attending high school in Strasbourg, SK. She moved on to business college in Regina, forging friendships that lasted a lifetime. She took pride in a working career that lasted 3 years before marrying Hilton (Phil) Charlton in Moose Jaw in April 1948. They celebrated fifty years of marriage before his death in 1998. They raised three sons, Aydon (Merrilee Rasmussen); Brien (Lorraine Bisson); and John (Sharon), with many of those years spent in their home at 1321 Retallack St. Regina. June expended much energy making that house a home and displayed similar dedication in her involvement at St. Peter's Anglican Church. In 2000 June moved to Cathedral Courts in Regina, a fine residence for her remaining years. June was feisty, stubbornly independent and mightily frugal; understandable traits for someone raised on a Saskatchewan farm in the 1930s. She was never sentimental, always sociable and ready with a smile. She loved reading and placed a high value on the imagination. She would have thrived in this era when career and travel can be enjoyed while raising a family. Three people merit mention in this farewell: Maxine Charlton, whose years of caring for June should not be overlooked; Sharon Charlton, who was a joy to her; and Elta Brown, nobody treated June better than Elta. June leaves seven grandchildren (Carole, Brenda, Russell, Sheila, Kai, Zena, and Ciara) and two great-grandchildren (Dylan and Arturo). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.June died peacefully on January 22, 2015, with family by her side under the care of the Arbor Oaks Personal Care Home. June will be cremated and her remains scattered at a place she loved to visit with Phil. A memorial service will be held after spring breaks through. CREAMER � Pauline Eleanor. It is with great sadness the family of Pauline Eleanor Creamer announces her passing on August 15, 2004 at the age of 80 years. Pauline was born in Duval, Saskatchewan. Pauline lived life to the fullest enjoying gardening and quilting. Family, friends and church life brought Pauline the most Joy. Pauline is survived by three Children; Garry (Margaret), Cherlyn (Bob) and Rodger (Virginia); four Grandchildren; Shelley (Lee), Bobby, Kathy (Mike) and Wayne. Pauline is pre-deceased by her husband Ernest "Cec" Creamer. As a tribute friends are invited to bring a vase of fresh garden flowers to the funeral service. DILLON - Edith Mildred (nee Boyd) born October 31, 1906 in Lyleton, Man. Passed away peacefully February 23, 2003. Predeceased in 1962 by her husband Jim Dillon and also, more recently, by her much-loved sister-in-law, Mrs. Peggy Boyd. She is survived by her dear brother, Austin "Bud" Boyd, son James (Noela), daughter Elsie Newson, grandchildren Patty Newson and Chuck Newson, niece Marg Gordon (John) and their children Haley, Joel and Brian Gordon, as well as her devoted friend Mrs. Darlene Hodgson (Weinbender). Mildred Dillon was an agreeable and engaging woman whose optimism was matched only by her tenacity. Living at home until after her 96th birthday, she liked nothing more than good conversation, good stories, and a good read. Many thanks to the special "homecare ladies", home nurses and administrators of Regina Home Care, Meals on Wheels friends, Regina Library delivery, neighbours of Sacred Heart Manor, and all who contributed to her living at home to such a fine old age. We would also like to remember the professionalism and kindness of the staff of Pasqua Hospital Ward 4A, the William Booth Special Care Home and Elmview Extendicare. Growing up with her brother in Duval, where their father ran the General Store and her mother was an avid seamstress, she remembered a happy childhood of teas, country socials and exotic Christmas treats such as oranges which came on the train. She had a life-long love of figure skating, which her dad had a talent for. Mildred became a teacher and displayed an adventurous streak, getting her first airplane ride in the early 1920's. She wanted to see the world, and had a go of it in her eighties, travelling to Australia and taking several trips with her grandchildren. She met her husband, Jim, a "tall, handsome Irishman", while boarding in Regina, and they were married in 1928 enjoying a year of prosperity before the Great Depression. A mechanic by trade, Jim worked for the wheat pool and all agree that there wasn't an engine he couldn't fix. They spent their entire married life in the area of Elphinstone and 5th and Mildred had strong memories of unthawing the water pump at 5th and Argyle. She spent many winters with her daughter and family in Victoria, and despite being widowed early, saw her son through law school. Her husband remained the love of her life and Mildred faithfully recounted what she knew of Jim's family, early years and their life together, so that the younger members of the family would know their history. A lunch to celebrate Chris's life will be held at the Duval Community Hall on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 1:00 pm. EDWARDS - Alma Elvina (nee Sorensen). It is with deep sorrow the family of Alma Elvina Edwards announce her passing on January 13, 2002 at the Strasbourg Last Mountain Pioneer Home at age 90 years. Born February 17, 1911 to Ida Johanna and Marius Andreous Sorensen of the Duval District. Alma was the eldest of ten children. In 1931 she married Jeffrey Victor Edwards of South Devon, England and they farmed the B.A. Stewart farm for 41 years while owning a home in Strasbourg since 1948 for purposes of their children's education. Predeceased by her husband in 1979, six brothers (Leonard, John, Frank, Norman, Alvin and Edwin), one sister (Agnes Workman), two sisters-in-law (Lillian and Irene), one infant daughter (Gwendolyn) and two grandchildren (Murray Campbell and Aimee Ferguson), and she leaves to mourn three sons: Dick (Jean) Edwards of Strasbourg, Gerry Edwards (Lois) of Edmonton, AB and Dr. Paul (Linda) Edwards of Moose Jaw, SK; two daughters, Evelyn (Bill) Campbell of Saskatoon, SK and Ann (Deane) Morrison of Strasbourg; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren; sister Mabel (Allan) Essery of Regina, SK; brother Irvin (Gladys) Sorensen of Duval, SK; daughter-in-law Rosemarie Edwards of Calgary, AB; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sorensen of Regina, SK and Edith Sorensen of Semans, SK as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. It's with great sadness we announce the sudden loss of our father, husband, brother, grandfather and friend on February 11, 2010, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was with the love of his life, Linda, in their paradise on earth at the time of his passing. Paul was born on April 30, 1944, in Duval, SK, at his family farm where he was the youngest of five children. Paul went to school in Strasbourg, SK, and was very active in sports. After high school, Paul went to the University of Saskatchewan and became a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. He met the love of his life, Linda May Erhardt, on June 5, 1964, and they were married on August 31, 1968. They lived in Saskatoon briefly, while Paul finished school and went on to open a large animal Veterinary Clinic in Wakaw, SK. They lived there for 14 years and had three children, Jason, Rhea Lynne, and Damon. In 1983 Paul moved with his family to Shaunavon to work in a private practice and was there for two years until moving to Moose Jaw and taking on a job with Agriculture Canada, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in 1985. Moose Jaw became home base for the next 25 years while enjoying the many things he and his family loved to do. After Paul's retirement in 2001 they traveled during the winter months and fell in love with Puerto Vallarta, where they have spent the last many winters. The rest of the year was spent at home in Moose Jaw. Paul loved gardening, woodworking in his shop, hunting, fishing, camping and spending time with his family. Another passion for Paul was farming and he would love helping out during seeding and harvest for Linda's brother, Gerry. Paul (Da-dio, Opa, Doc) will be missed at all family functions but never forgotten, as part of him still lives in all of us. Paul is predeceased by his parents Jeffrey (1979) and Alma (2002). Paul is survived by: his loving wife of 41 years, Linda; three children, Jason Edwards (Tracey), Rhea Lynne Edwards Anderson (Bill), and Damon Edwards (Amy); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sadie, Kali, Thomas, Liam, Claire, Isaac and Elliot; brothers, Richard (Jean), Gerry (Lois); sisters, Evelyn Campbell and Ann Morrison (Dean). ERHARDT - Evelyn Dorothy Schultz was born on September 22, 1929 to Reinhardt and Molly Schultz on a farm west of Duval. She was the oldest of five children. She grew up and attended school in Duval. After school she worked in Regina as a waitress. After a chance meeting at a dance, a romance blossomed and in 1949, Evelyn married Albert Erhardt. In the early years of marriage, Sundays were spent at the lake fishing and picnicing. Square dancing, visiting neighbours and playing some lively hands of cards, were times enjoyed together. Albert and Evelyn raised two children, Larry and Deanna. Flower beds and a lush garden brought much enjoyment to her. The family took much pride in her quilting, crocheting, baking and sewing skills. Reading was a favourite pastime. Her life revolved around her husband and family. Evelyn passed away on January 2, 2012 at the Last Mountain Pioneer Home at the age of 82, after a long struggle with failing health. Evelyn is predeceased by one brother in 1942, her father Reinhardt Schultz in 1969, her mother Molly Schultz in 1990, her sister Annie Livingston in 1995, her husband Albert Erhardt in 2001. ESSERY - Allan Essery was born October 19, 1920 at Duval, Saskatchewan, and died January 15, 2013 in Regina at the age of 92 years. He was the first child to Mervyn and Eva Essery of Duval. Allan was a storekeeper by profession. He and his father and brother owned a store in Duval for over 60 years. He was married to Mabel Essery for 67 years. They had four children. Allan was always a strong community and church supporter. He was active in a variety of clubs, including his great fondness for Easter Star. He taught Sunday school for many years, and was an enthusiastic member of various choirs and singing groups. He just loved to sing. Later in his working career, Allan taught Driver's Education to many area high school students. Allan and Mabel moved to Regina after retirement and developed many close friends at 6 Lorne Place, and later at College Park Retirement Residence. The good folks at these facilities added greatly to the enjoyment of Allan and Mabel's later years. Allan is predeceased by his parents Mervyn and Eva, brother Don, wife Mabel (2011), son Ron (1991), and daughter Brenda (2011). He is survived by daughter Wanda of Edmonton, son Dean (Susan) of Tiki Island, Texas, son-in-law Al Brigden of Kisbey, grandsons Shaun (Micah), Drew, Devon, Preston (Taure) and Todd (Tanya), granddaughters Nadine (Jay) and Eve (John), great-grandchildren Jhett, Kruz, Anders, Soren, Taylor, Christian, and Nicholas, Jack and George. He bids you all a very fond farewell. ESSERY - Mabel Irene (nee Sorensen) was born January 21, 1921 and died June 10, 2011 in Regina at the age of 90 years. Mabel, a nurse by profession, was married to Allan Essery for 67 years. They had four children. Mabel was deeply involved in the community of Duval, including many clubs and church activities. She provided medical help to many in the local area. Mabel greatly enjoyed her family and friends. Through good times and hard times, Mabel and Allan have always been there for each other. She will be greatly missed. Mabel is predeceased by her Parents, Brothers, Sisters, and son Ron in 1991. She is survived by her husband Allan, daughters Wanda Essery, Brenda Brigden (Allan), son Dean Essery (Susan), Grandchildren Nadine (Jay), Eve, Shaun (Micah), Todd, Drew, Devon and Preston. EVANOFF - Marjorie Mildred (nee Graham), June 29, 1931 - February 11, 2009 has left us to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 77 years. She will be met by her husband, Evan and her parents, Charlie and Phil Graham. Mom was born in Duval, SK then moved to North Battleford to live with her sister, Audrey. While in North Battleford she met and married her husband, Evan who was in the R.C.M.P. at the time. Mom had her first child, Darcy in North Battleford and Evan was transferred to Val Marie where they had their second child, Don. After numerous transfers, they chose Saskatoon in 1962 and were later blessed with their third child, Michelle. After being widowed in 1973 she worked at Stensrud Lodge and raised her children. She then retired in 1996. Marge loved her home, as it brought her family together and would never rest until her chores were done. She loved Don's drumming and their walks to the mall. She especially loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and their visits and conversations. Mom will be sadly missed by her sons, Darcy (Elaine), Don (Cheryle) and daughter, Michelle (Glen); grandchildren, Cheryl (Shaun), Desiree, and Dakotah Hesson. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Kathrina 'Kay' Farr on Monday, March 2, 2015. Kay was born on February 6, 1920 at the farm home near Duval, Sask. into a close and loving family. She completed her schooling in Duval and Strasbourg, SK and went on to graduate from St. Boniface School of Nursing, Winnipeg, MB in 1943. In 1944 she married John William (Bill) Farr and became a devoted wife and mother to three daughters. She was an excellent cook as well as skilled in many handcrafts, such as sewing, quilting, knitting, crocheting and millinery (the good old days when women wore hats to church). Kay was always available to care for family and friends in times of illness and need. Her kind and caring ways made her a valued friend to many. In her senior years, Kay pursued her love of learning by attending classes in French and History. Also she took the opportunity to travel whenever possible. Predeceased by her parents David and Maria Barbara Kelln, her husband Bill (in 2000) as well as four brothers, Bill (Molly), David, Martin (Audrey), John (Leona) and six sisters, Emilie (Godfrey) Yauck, Mary (Joe) Ollinger, Molly Wilson, Bertha (Eugene) Kopf, Irene (Ira) Travis, Elvina (Bill) Raddysh. Kay is survived by one sister Elizabeth Tait of Surrey, BC; three daughters, Georgia (Terry) O'Brien, Patty Klein and Bonnie (Jean-Gaston) DesCoteaux; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as cousins, many nieces, nephews, a dear old friend Marge Johnson, and many special friends at William Booth. She lived out her final days at the William Booth Special Care Home where she received loving care. Throughout her life Kay had a deep and abiding faith. Doug, Cora and family moved to Regina where he worked at SaskPower until his retirement. They enjoyed traveling to far off countries and spent many pleasurable winters in Arizona and B.C. Doug loved to sing and harmonize as a member of many choirs, and was a long time member of the Barbershop Chorus. Doug had many interests which included curling, fishing on the Northern lakes, gardening, world events and spending time with family and friends. A private family celebration of life will be held at the Regina Memorial Gardens Cemetery. FRIES - Amalia 'Molly' (nee Hilderman) was born October 7, 1907 in Holstein, Russia. In 1912, her parents, Jacob and Maria Hilderman, came to Canada with their family and settled in Winnipeg. In 1919, the family moved to the Valley Center district north west of Duval, where Molly attended school. In 1932, she married John Fries. They began their life as a married couple on a farm west of Duval. Together they raised a family of five children. Molly lived on the farm until 1,975 when she moved into Duval. She enjoyed life there until 2003 when failing health necessitated her taking up residence in Last Mountain Pioneer Home, where she remained until her passing away February 8, 2009, at the age of 101 years and 4 months. Molly was predeceased by her husband John in 1960, son Reinholdt in 2006, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memories Walter (Jackie) and family, Ed (Rose) and family, Gladys (Dennis) Kelln and family, Gorden (Roni) and family, Marianne Madden, 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. FRITZLER - Alvin passed away peacefully on September 24, 2014 at the age of 93. He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Natalie 'Dolly' Fritzler. FURNEAUX - Raymond was born to Walter and Ettie Furneaux on the home quarter at Swanell, Sask. (Cymric) on May 15, 1921, the first of four children. He attended Daisybank School until his help was needed on the family farm and took over the family farm at age 17, when his father died. Ray married Leta Melville on March 23, 1949. They ran the family farm together until 2000 when they retired to move to Watrous. In 2013, they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. They have one child, Karen Smith, and two grandchildren - Charity Brookes (Aurora, ON) and Aaron Smith (Newmarket, ON). Ray had moved to Newmarket in May 2013 to be near family. He died at the age of 92, at dawn, on July 6, 2013. He leaves behind: his loving wife, Leta; daughter Karen; son-in-law Charles; grandaughter Charity and her husband, Michael; grandson Aaron; brother Russell (Vancouver); sister Norma (Semans) and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Marjorie. Although Ray was primarily a farmer, he spent many winters in Vancouver where he attained his Journeyman Status in Motor Vehicle Mechanics and worked as a machinist. He loved engines. He enjoyed working with metal and often built or altered large machinery. The last two small items that he built were a welder and an engine lifter. Ray was a licensed private pilot and a Ham Radio operator. He was a member of the Steam Association and spent many summers working with the Western Development Museum as a certified steam engineer. The funeral for Ray will be held in Watrous at Fotheringham Chapel, 102-2nd Ave E., on July 19 at 11:00 a.m. Refreshments will follow at the Watrous Senior's Centre on Main Street. Leta moved recently to Newmarket, ON. to be near her daughter and grandchildren. GEBHARDT - June Ann (nee Unruh), age 75 years, of Regina, SK, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at the Wascana Grace Hospice in Regina, SK. She was born on June 6, 1941 at Duval, SK. June was predeceased by her father, Henry Unruh and her sister, Sandra Fiissel. She is survived by her mother, Linda Unruh; her loving husband of 57 years, Ernest C. Gebhardt; children, Darren (Shirley) Gebhardt, Tracey (Frank) Marsall, Jason (Tanya) Gebhardt and Elise (Ed) Desjarlais; her loving grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. June was a homemaker for most of her life but also had a few part time jobs at Robinsons and Fantasy Flowers in the Northgate Mall as well as the SAAN store. Her favourite full time job was raising her children; although it was challenging at times, she found it very fulfilling. One of her favourite places to be was the cottage at Saskatchewan Beach, with all of her family especially putting on plays around the family fire pit and telling silly stories. The family has spent more than 40 years there with so many fond memories. We will never forget how loving and caring she was but how she also liked to be the foreman of the family and knew how to get things done. Predeceased by his brother, Bob; father, Clarence; mother, Olla and son, Donald. Allan will be fondly remembered by his son, Jim and Vera of Thompson, Manitoba; grandson Trevor of Winnipeg and Ellen of Mississauga, Ontario. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Saskatchewan, Alberta, Ontario and the United States, as well as his special friend, Helen Zaharychuk of Regina. Allan was born at the family farm in the Duval district August 7, 1929 and attended Dunkeld Country School and Strasbourg High School. He worked for several years in Ontario and then returned to Saskatchewan to become a salesman at Stern Motors in Raymore in 1950. In April 1954 he started work with the Highway Traffic Board, Government of Saskatchewan and retired in September 1984 after thirty years of service. He was active at Knox Metropolitan Church during the late 50's, 60's and early 70's serving as an elder, a Sunday School teacher, a Boy Scout leader, member of the A.O.T.S. and `50 Couples Club. He traveled extensively throughout Canada, United States and Mexico and during his retirement years spent winter months in either Texas or Arizona. He never tired of the beauties of the Saskatchewan landscape and in particular enjoyed the many scenic parks in the city of Regina where he would spend hours walking. He participated in stock market activities, reading, dancing, his wood working hobby and creating Saskatchewan souvenirs. At Allan's request there will be no service, however, friends are invited to share and reminisce memories at the Army, Navy and Air Force Vets Club, 1734 Broad St., from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Friday September 27, 2002. Cremation has taken place. HAGAN - Bruce Lorance of Regina passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, in his home on Monday, May 14th, 2001, at the age of 84 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 and a half years, Dorothy; one son, Craig (Doris) and family Daniel, Angela and John; daughter-in-law, Gayle and children Ory and Sheraea; two daughters, Nancy (Ted) and family, Amy and Thomas; Marcy (Peter) and family, Andrew, Jesse and Lisa; one sister, Violet Johnson (Stan); numerous relatives and many special friends. Bruce was predeceased by his son, Mark in February 2000; parents, Asa and Rose Hagan; sisters, Clara Hilderman (Hank); Velda Hagan; twin brother, Kenneth (at birth) and brother Clarence Hagan. Bruce was born November 17, 1916, at the Grey-Nuns Hospital in Regina. His mother was blessed with four sets of twins and one single baby - many died at birth. At one time she held the Canadian record for most sets of twins born in one family. Bruce lived on the farm in Duval, Sask. until he was 16 years of age. The family then moved to Regina. Bruce attended Balfour Tech where he studied automotive mechanics. His father started Hagan Transport. Bruce helped with the family business until he was called away to serve in WWII. When the war ended he returned to continue to help with the business. Bruce married at 37 years of age to his sweetheart Dorothy Menzies, on October 20, 1954. They built their home at 1119 Broder St. in Regina, where they raised their four children. Many good memories were had in this home as well as their cottage at Kedleston Beach. Hagan Transport was sold in the early 1960's. Bruce formed, owned and operated Hagan's Moving & Storage until his retirement in 1982. He and Dorothy renovated their cottage into a house where they spent their retirement years. In 1999 they moved to Storie Manor in Regina. Bruce accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age. He attended faithfully at the Apostolic Church where he served as head usher for 29 years. He prayed and read his Bible regularly. His love for his Savior was very evident in his life. "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". Many thanks to the Regina District Palliative Home Care Unit for their kind attention to Dad's needs. HERBER - George Henry Herber was born in 1926 on a farm near Cymric. In 1948 he married Wilma Bitter and they had two children Patricia and Lloyd while farming east of Duval. Although he farmed for a living his passion was nature, collecting antiques and Indian artefacts; establishing a museum which became a popular attraction in the area. Due to health reasons George and Wilma moved to Regina in 2004. His grandchildren were a great source of pride and joy to him and he took a great interest in all they did. George passed away at the Regina General Hospital June 5, 2011. Willard was born on a farm near Cymric SK. on February 24, 1933 and grew up on a farm near Duval. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Annie Hilderman and brother Ken. Ethel was born Dec. 1, 1912 on a farm at Glenside, SK to Lizzie and James Gifford, the first of 11 children: Jessie, Ella, Violet, Clare, Bruce, Beryl, Gordon, Vivian, Viola, and Verona Virginia. When Ethel was eight years old, they moved into the village of Glenside. There she finished her High School education, leaving to attend Miller Bible School in Moose Jaw, SK. The Bible School closed in Moose Jaw to be opened in Pambrum, SK so Ethel did not attend. She went to live with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McVety, studying the scriptures under Hugh's teaching. He suggested Ethel go to Teacher's College. This she did, becoming a teacher in 1934. She taught in the Glenside area until December 1936 when she married Fred Howes and moved to his farm near Hawarden, SK where Evelyn (Albert) Stettner and Elaine (Alan) Dutton were born. They moved to Saskatoon in 1940 where Eleanor (Elmer) Huber was born. In 1942 they moved to Hazel Dell, where Esther (Harvey) Koch and Earnest were born. Ethel taught school there. In 1949 they moved back to Glenside due to the ill health of Ethel's parents, who died in 1950. After a year teaching at Conquest, SK they moved to the Southey, SK area in 1951. Ethel taught at Hazelwood school, Fosterdale school and finally the Southey Schools until her retirement in 1972. The twins, Ellen and Edward (Diane) were born while living at Hazelwood. Fred and Ethel moved to Saskatoon in 1989. Ethel moved to Calgary in 1992. She then lived in various locations with or near her children until the time of her passing. Ethel was predeceased by her parents, siblings except Viola (Peter) Ewert, daughters Evelyn, Ellen, son Earnest, husband Fred, grandson Jacob, great grandsons Chad, Wade, son-in-law Alan and granddaughter-in-law Linda. (Cymric is between Nokomis and Strasbourg, Sask.) HOLMAN - Jean Galt Ferguson (nee McKenzie)Holman. She was a Shaker. Yes, that's how 88 year old Jeanie Galt Ferguson (nee McKenzie) Holman who passed away October 11, 2004 would best be known. She was born on Robbie Burns Day, January 25, 1916, in the Valley Center district homestead shack NW of Duval, SK, to Scottish parents Daniel and Jessie (Cuthbertson) McKenzie. She spoke lovingly of her country school education, completing Grade XI with help of a correspondence course and a year in Duval High School. Endearingly Jeanie and sister Mary cared for their stroke-ridden mother for eight years before Jessie's untimely death. They took turns going out to work as hired help and that's where Jean met her future life-long farmer friend, John Theodore (Ted) Holman, whom she married January 14, 1937. Theirs was, in Jeanie's own words, "a good life" being blessed with three children: Marjorie Eileen, Mary June and Donald John. This prairie woman welcomed the challenges of farming including being able to operate the combine or being the first woman to haul a load of grain to the Duval Federal elevator. Her grandchildren made repeated requests for her home-baked buns and fried chicken. She fed the family, with some to spare for others, from a large vegetable garden. She loved to pick wild flowers and grow gladiolas and sunflowers. In her community she was known for her mentoring, strong Christian faith as revealed in a life-time of commitment to her Duval United Church having received a UCW Life Membership pin and her many years work on the Duval Cemetery committee. The Duval folk could always count on her for a listening ear. She and her sports-minded buddy Ted were known to be keen fishing and hunting enthusiasts. Jeanie was indeed a "Shaker", yes, both as a collector of 1800 sets of salt and pepper shakers and as a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, church and community worker and an early days feminist. The time came when reluctantly the Holmans moved to the town of Strasbourg keeping yet a foot on the heritage farm. Quickly there was the passing of husband Ted on October 18, 1987 after 50 years of marriage, and of late, the very sudden death of son Donald on March 18, 2001. Time as a widow was well spent with travel to visit family, a long awaited venture to see heritage homeland Glasgow, Scotland, and at least two Alaskan cruises. She and sister Margaret (McKenzie) McClughan now had time to share many outings. After Jean's stroke she resided for three years at the Last Mountain Pioneer Home, Strasbourg. It was here Jean's unexpected humour surfaced as long time Duval acquaintances reminisced about the good old days. Jean was happy there and felt very blessed to have such loving care from the staff. JOHNSON - Charles Stanley Russell of Regina passed away peacefully at the Pasqua Hospital on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the age of 86 years. He is survived by his loving wife Violet of 61 years, one brother Leonard (wife Thelma) of Regina, sisters-in-law Dorothy Hagan of Regina and Carol Hagan of Red Deer, Alberta and several nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Jane Johnson and one brother Johnnie. Stan was born October 23, 1918 in Regina. He was raised in a Christian home on a farm near Duval, Saskatchewan. Stan accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at an evangelical meeting in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan in his early teenage years. He married his schoolgirl sweetheart, Violet Hagan on December 31, 1943. They originally settled in Duval, but after many hardships moved to Regina, where they continued to live. Stan and Violet spent their retirement years at Storie Manor. Presently, Violet resides at Pioneer Village Nursing Home. Stan and Violet's marriage was a testimony of their devotion and unconditional love to each other. They have been helpmates for one another. They were together all the time, you saw one you saw them both. Their faith in the Lord and confidence in each other will always be remembered. Stan wants to leave a testimony of his love for Jesus Christ and that he knows Christ as his personal Saviour. Stan is home in glory all because Jesus has redeemed him by his shed blood on Calvary. JOHNSON - Violet (nee Hagan) passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the age of 86 years. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley; parents Asa & Rose Hagan; twin sister Velva in childhood; brothers and sister Clarence Hagan, Clara (Henry) Hilderman and Bruce Hagan. Violet is survived by her sisters-in-law Dorothy Hagan and Carol Hagan; brother and sisterin-law Len and Thelma Johnson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Violet was born on a farm at Duval, SK on August 11, 1922. Her mother was blessed with 4 sets of twins. Twice the farmhouse was burned down. Violet came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour in her youth. She went to Daisybank school and Stanley, her future husband, went to Dunkeld school. Competition was strong between the two schools, especially in softball. On December 31, 1943. Violet and Stan where married in Regina and moved to Lumsden to farm. When this farmhouse burned down they moved to Regina where Violet helped Stan in the trucking business for 24 years. Violet was involved with many church activities along side of Stan at Hillsdale Alliance and Living Hope Churches. She entertained many visitors over the years at 1101 Broder Street. In the early 80's they moved to an apartment at Storie Manor so they could spend time enjoying traveling to many countries around the world. Violet moved to Pioneer Village in 2003 where she spent her remaining years. Thank you to the staff at Pioneer Village for the wonderful care she received over the past few years. A sister, Janice, passed away in infancy. Clark grew up on the farm one mile west of Duval and spent the majority of his life there. From early in his life, he had a passion to farm. Some of his teenage years were spent in the old two-bedroom house in Duval before he moved back to the farm where he continued to live, and raised his family. Clark attended school in Duval to grade eight, then finished his schooling in Strasbourg before beginning work on the family farm helping his dad. He continued to farm with Len until his dad was no longer able, and then Clark took over the farm completely. On March 6, 1981 Clark married Belinda Hubick and they start ed their family with their first child Jason, born on September 30, 1981. Their second child Jada was born March 3,1983. Then in 1984, Clark and his family moved into the new house he had built on the farm. On May 22, 2014 Clark and Belinda were blessed with their first and only grandchild, Olive. She was cherished for the short time that Clark was able to spend with her. Clark Jones was very active in the community. He was a mem ber of the Optimist Club, served on the Cemetery Committee and the RM Council, was caretaker for the Duval Rink, and drove for the Snowplow Club. He was always willing to lend a hand, no matter the circumstances. In December 2013 Clark was diagnosed with cancer. He fought with great courage and dignity, however after a short battle he passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Tuesday morning, July 8, 2014. Clark was predeceased by his parents Len and Alice, sister Janice, and mother-in-law Evelyn. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Belinda, their children Jason (Dana) and Jada (Jon), granddaughter Olive, brothers Keith (Kathy), Jeff, and Jay, brother-in-law Barry (Arlene), sisters-in-law Bev (Doug), Brenda (Dan), Bonnie (Rick), father-in-law Carl, and numerous nieces and nephews. The service was held on July 11, 2014 at the Commu nity Hall in Strasbourg, SK. JONES - Leonard William. After a 19 year battle with cancer Len Jones of Duval passed away July 30, 2006. Leonard William Jones was born March 19, 1921 in Willmar, SK. Len was predeceased by his wife Alice, daughter Janice, parents William and Annie, sisters Queenie Singleton and Hilda May, and brother Walter. He leaves to cherish his memory sons Keith (Kathy) and their children Mathew, Shelby and Michael, Clark (Belinda) and their children Jason and Jada (fiance Jon Danyliw), Jeff and Jay, as well as brother Charlie (Bunny). Len and Alice were married in 1950 and operated a mixed farm in the Duval area while raising their four sons. Len's interest in education prompted him to serve 28 years as a school trustee. This job was not a chore but a passion. Teachers seldom saw a trustee with such an interest in education. Throughout his years in Duval, Len was very active in the community. Len was a Sask Wheat Pool local committee chairman for over 20 years, was involved in minor sport, assisted with the relocation of the Duval Rink and was involved in the local rural electrification project. He was active in his Church, the establishment of the Duval community hall, the publishing of the Duval, Strasbourg, Bulyea History Book and in later years participated in a number of plays with the Last Mountain Theatre Company. KAMINSKI - Lydia (nee Schulz) beloved wife of Edwin Kaminski passed away June 21, 2009 at the Foothills Hospital on the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit in Calgary, Alberta. Born in Moscow, Russia February 13, 1923 she came to Canada with her parents David and Theresa Schulz in 1923 to the Cymric, Saskatchewan area. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul Lutheran church in Duval, Saskatchewan. In 1952 she married Edwin Kaminski (of Lemburg, Saskatchewan) in Calgary. They were married for fifty-seven years. Lydia is predeceased by two brothers in infancy, her father David Schulz and mother Theresa Schulz, her brothers Alec Schultz and Leonard Schultz, a granddaughter Linnea Berg, a sister-in-law Marlene Schultz and a daughter-in-law Veronica Kaminski. She is survived by her loving husband Edwin, her daughter Lynda (Robin) Pedersen, Nicole (Curtis) McLauchlin, Heather (Guenther) Herzog, her daughter Debra (Brian) Berg, Sarah (Ryan Summach), Nathan (Melanie Marriott), Aimee, and her son David (Louise) Kaminski, Jennifer, Christopher and Kyle. He practiced in this field in private industry until 1988 when he began his own practice with his beloved "unofficial" partner Roslyn until illness forced retirement in 2007. He was also a proud member of the Lethbridge Country Club and will dearly miss all his golfing buddies. Caroline was predeceased by her parents; Husband Benjamin in 1985: 3 sisters and 5 brothers. In 1940, Caroline married Benjamin and moved to a farm west of Duval where Irvin and Phyllis were born, and then in the spring of 1945 the family moved to the farm west of Cymric where Gerald & Jacqueline were born. In 1973 the family moved to Govan. Caroline loved to cook, bake, make quilts, crochet, play cards and sing. Everyone was always welcome for a meal and a good game of cards or just a visit. In her last days Caroline would sing for hours, to our amazement she was singing in German. Interment will be held at a later date at the Govan Cemetery. KELLN - Dana Alexander (June 23, 1949 � October 17, 2015). It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Dana, on Saturday October 17, 2015 at the age of 66 years. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side. Dana was predeceased by his parents, Alexander (1969) and Irene (2000) of Govan. Dana is survived by his sister, Debbie Edwards (Dwayne), and his children Nadine (Scott), Allison (Bert), and Darren (Tammy), his 8 grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth, Grace, Jayme, Abby, Thomas, Jaya and Alex, and his nephews Craig and Dan. Dana grew up on the family farm west of Cymric, and farmed for many years. He also repaired and raced snowmobiles during the winter months. He moved to Vibank in 1983 and owned the local grocery store for over 5 years. For the last 26 years, he was a contractor with Canada Post, delivering mail to 16 towns between Regina and Maryfield (near the Manitoba border), and back each day. He was extremely hard working and nothing, including a snow storm ever stopped him. Along his route, he made many close and lasting friendships. He was grateful for his close knit group of neighbours and friends in Vibank. Dana took pride in his garden and yard, and enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends, and staying at his cabin. His raised eyebrows and smile, sense of humour, stubborn and determined ways, and incredible strength, love and loyalty will be dearly missed by those closest to him. In the early morning of Thursday, December 23, 2004, Martin passed away at Pioneer Village Nursing Home at the age of 82. She is survived by her son Norman (Judy), daughters Irene (Henry) Schultz, Irma and Shiralee Markel, twelve grandchildren, and twenty greatgrandchildren, also in-laws Millie Decker, Elizabeth Markel, Wilma Markel, Margaret Markel, Beatrice Markel, Emma Markel, and numerous nieces and nephews. Karoline was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba January 19, 1916, and was raised on a farm at Semans, SK. She married Andrew Markel in 1934 at Markinch, SK. and they farmed in the Last Mountain District and Duval, SK. before moving to Regina in 1953. Karoline was employed at the General Hospital for four years and the YMCA for thirty-two years before retiring in 1991. She was a Sunday School Superintendent and teacher at Redeemer Lutheran Church. After transferring to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, she was co-ordinator of worship service readers. McCLUGHAN - Gertrude Eliza (nee Braden), wife of Joseph McClughan, on January 13th, 2003 at the age of 91. Born November 5th, 1911 and raised in the Strasbourg area, Gertrude briefly spent some time working in Regina at the Kitchener Hotel before marrying Joe on Feb. 14th, 1951. Together they spent the next 28 years farming west of Duval before retiring to Strasbourg in 1979, and then a final move to Regina in the fall of 1999. Gertrude is predeceased by her daughter Jo-anne (1953), parents Mabel and William Braden, brother Earl Braden, brother Robert Braden, brother-in-laws, Alex May, Bill McClughan, Robert McClughan, Jack McClughan and Ronald Dickie. She is survived by her husband Joseph, sister Anne May, sister-in-laws Emily Braden, Evelyn Braden, Barrie McClughan, Margaret McClughan, Agnes McClughan, Elizabeth Dickie and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A small graveside service for family will take place at 2:30 pm on Thursday January 16, 2003 at the Duval cemetery. McCLUGHAN - Joseph. On April 6, 2004 at the age of 90. Born April 16, 1913 on the family farm near Duval (Section 6, Township 26, Range 22, W2). Joe farmed west of Duval for many years and especially loved the early years of farming using horses. A typical quote from Joe which spoke to this was " For me, when tractors came into farming it took all the glamour away. There was no more peace. It was too noisy. So I know, when I die I will be at peace." On Feb 14, 1951 Joe married Gertrude Braden. Together for the next 28 years they farmed west of Duval before retiring to Strasbourg in 1979, and then a final move to Regina in the fall of 1999. Joe is predeceased by his wife, Gertrude (2003), by his daughter Joanne (1953), parents John and Maria McClughan, and Catherine McClughan, brothers Bill McClughan, Robert McClughan, Jack McClughan, brother-inlaws Ronald Dickie, Earl Braden, Robert Braden, Alex May. He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Dickie, sister-in-laws, Barrie McClughan, Margaret McClughan, Agnes McClughan, Anne May, Emily Braden, Evelyn Braden and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A small graveside service for family will take place at the Duval cemetary. McCLUGHAN - Margaret (nee McKenzie) of Strasbourg passed away September 6, 2009. Margaret was born on her parents' farm on September 5, 1923 to homesteaders, Daniel and Jesse McKenzie. Ayoung Margaret married aspiring farmer, Robert McClughan on November 11,1943. She lived her entire farming life on the family farm west of Duval before 'retiring' to a new house in Strasbourg. Margaret was predeceased by: her husband, Robert, in 1991; grandson, Michael, in 1994; and by her siblings: James, William, Mary, Jack and Jean. Margaret leaves behind: her loving son, James; daughters: Connie and Susan; granddaughter, Jennifer; sisters-in-law: Elizabeth Dickie and Barry McClughan; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret is fondly remembered by her many friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. McKAY - Alma (nee Erhardt) June 5, 1920 - November 2, 2016. Alma born June 5, 1920 in Duval to Godfrey and Maria Erhardt. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth McKay; as well as her brother, Ben; and sisters, Lydia and June. She is survived by her children, Nancy, Andrea, and Donald; and her five adoring grandchildren, Daniel, Shawn, Lance, Megan, and Melissa. She was a member of the Strasbourg United Church, the Loyal Order of the Eastern Star, and the general community. She will be missed by all. There will be a private interment in Strasbourg. McKAY - Ruth (nee Klatt) McKay passed away Sunday, June 16, 2013. Born on June 4, 1925, Ruth was the youngest child of Johann and Florentina Klatt of Lemberg, SK. Predeceased by all 13 siblings: John, Matilda, Millie, Ted, Karl, Minnie, Archie, Edie, Louie, Anne, Martin ("Shorty"), Hank, and Ernie, and her husband of 43 years, Donald Alexander McKay (1921 - 2000). Survived by her daughters Brenda (Baine) Fritzler (Adam, Megan, Rachel), Linda McKay (Paul, Alexander), sisters-in-law Lucy Klatt, Tess Klatt, Edie Klatt, Rita Ascah, brothers-in-law Ed McKay, Corbett McKay, and Rod McKay and many nieces and nephews. Family was important in Ruth's life. She loved following the sports and activities of her grandchildren, playing bridge, gardening, golfing and watching the Blue Jays. With great sorrow, the family of Shirley Mollison of Calgary mourns her peaceful passing surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the age of 62 years, following a courageous battle with cancer. Shirley was born in Strasbourg, Sask. and grew up on a farm west of Duval, SK. Del and Shirley raised their family in Lumsden, SK and retired in Calgary, AB where they resided for the last seven years. Shirley was interested in a number of things, but among the most important to her was spending time with her husband, family, grandchildren, and communicating with long term friends back home and new friends she had made in Calgary. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, especially to Hawaii, and many trips into the Rockies, stitching and attending every activity that she could that involved her beloved grandchildren, who they love and know to be as Nana. Mom was born on Nov. 11, 1916 in the Duval area, and moved to Viscount, SK., in 1920. She attended elementary and high school in Viscount and later received her Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate. Mom married Dad on September 11, 1951, and raised her four children on the family farm at Viscount. Mom loved the outdoors, enjoyed travelling, especially on vacations with her children. Mom enjoyed being with her family, especially with her six grandchildren. She loved music. She played the piano and organ and was the organist in the Viscount United Church for many years. Mom also sang in the choir in Viscount and later at Bethel and McClure United Churches in Saskatoon. Mom had a heart of gold, was always there for others and never asked or demanded anything for herself. She was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She felt blessed to have her grandchildren near and played an active role in their lives. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, music and cottage life. Bob passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Luther Special Care Home, Saskatoon, SK at the age of 86 years. Bob was born on September 11, 1921 in Duval, Saskatchewan. At the age of five he moved to the farm at Blucher, Saskatchewan where he lived and farmed for the next seventy-five years. He married Doreen Anderson on June 18, 1953 and together they raised five children: Linda (Ray) Wells, Lorne (Linda) Reid, Laureen (Dwayne) Rothery, Brenda Reid and Daniel Reid. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Derek (Jackie) Gray, Denise (Curtis) Robert, Cari-Lynn Reid, Timothy Reid, Jordan Rothery and Ryan Rothery; four great grandchildren, Makenna Robert, Emma Robert, Jaden Gray and Noah Gray; one brother, Arnold (Doris) Reid; one sister, Edith Verge; and one sister in law, Dorothy Reid. The family grew quickly with the addition of four siblings. Tragically Alfred lost his Dad when he was six. His Mother moved the family to Duval where Alfred grew up and Duval remained dear to him. The family moved to the Duval area where his two brothers and sister were born. He married Irene Brown on October 22, 1947. They farmed east of Duval for approximately 28 years, during which time, son Elden and daughter Kathy were born. Alex enjoyed hunting coyotes with his wolfhounds, built his own snow plane and drove a bombardier in the winter, taking kids to school. Once Elden took over the farming, Alex did carpentry work, specializing in cabinet making. He also enjoyed playing the accordion and violin, played ball well into his 6o's and also refereed hockey. His greatest joy was watching all the kids play hockey and ball. Alex also had a huge love for animals. SCHMIDT - Robert Harold (18 Aug 1927 - 5 Jun 2004). It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Schmidt announces his passing at the age of 76 years. Robert was predeceased by his mother and father, two brothers, and two sisters. SCHULTZ - Henry Schultz passed away peacefully on May 19, 2009 in the Regina General Hospital after a short illness of lung fibrosis. Henry was born June 3, 1921 on the family farm near Cymric, SK, to Gottfried and Anna Schultz. He was the second of five children, brothers Gottfried and William, sisters Ada and Martha. Ada passed away in infancy. Henry was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Duval. Henry attended a small country school called Mountain View which was near his Grandpa and Grandma Kelln's farm. In 1934, his Dad passed away and his schooling came to an end and his farming life started. In 1942, Henry was called to serve in World War II. Part of his training was in Sheffield, AB. This is where mustard gas was tested on Canadian soldiers and Henry was one of those soldiers. He served in Holland and Germany and was honorably discharged in 1946. In 1953, Henry married Irene Markel, and moved on to the family farm east of Duval in the Last Mountain area. They were blessed with four children and 11 grandchildren. Henry and Irene were together for 55 years. Henry was active in the church and community. He was on church council and village council for a number of years. In 1967, he moved his family from the farm to Duval. This became their winter home. It is around this time that he became the caretaker of the Duval skating rink for a number of years as well. A favourite pastime of Henry's was baseball. He was active as a player then as coach and umpire. He often said he would walk miles to play ball for the Cymric team, coached by his Uncle Henry Gritzfeld. Henry's proudest moments were when his daughters got married and then his sons. His grandchildren were his precious gems. Henry was predeceased by his father, mother, stepfather, sister Ada, brother Gottfried and grandson Jason Hoffman. SEDGWICK - Randal Owen born July 8, 1958, found his peace on Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Soul-mates, best friends and childhood sweethearts, Randy and Glenda spent 32 years devoted to each other. Randy was always caring for Glenda, his extended family and friends. Randy spent his early years on the farm in Duval and attended school in Duval, and William Derby High School in Strasbourg. He and Glenda then made their home in Regina. Randy spent many years as a transmission mechanic and then decided to spend more time with Glenda, to work on their home and in their garden, and to support his mother. Randy was an avid Saskatchewan Roughriders fan through all the lean years and the great years. He could fix just about anything and was always using his hands to build, create and invent. He loved to be outside and always made sure the birdfeeder was full. Glenda and Randy loved to travel -to far off places or close by. They were just as comfortable in their little tent as they were in a five star hotel. SORENSEN - Phyllis (nee Henderson) Sorensen. Held in the love of her family, Phyllis died peacefully following a stroke at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina on April 20, 2012. Phyllis will be a loving touchstone always to her 17 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren, and a beloved Aunt to many. Phyllis was born in Duval on July 5, 1916 to Grace and Tom Henderson, homesteaders in the Last Mountain District, the eldest of three daughters. The strength of character, kindness, and compassion that Phyllis carried throughout her life were inherited from a long line of fine women and loving men. Phyllis attended Regina College and became a teacher in rural prairie schools until she married Leonard in 1940. Dedicated to parenting, Phyllis was an outstanding mother - providing guidance to her 7 children to do their best and was the first to applaud each and every achievement. With her family at her centre, Phyllis pursued her own spiritual, intellectual, and cultural development. She was a woman of quiet, deep faith. She loved books and music. She enjoyed travelling and spending time with family and friends. She appreciated the services of the CBC, the Extension programmes of the University of Regina, and later in life - of the CNIB and Regina Public Library Outreach to keep her informed and engaged in community and world affairs. Phyllis was a generous, accepting person. She was proud of and celebrated the diversity and variety of interests and talents of her family. Her lifelong friends were so loved and important to her. Phyllis, like her mother Grace, was a strong, loving role model who will be loved and celebrated forever. STEPHENSON - Mary Margaret (nee Campbell) Stephenson, age 100 years of Swift Current, SK. and formerly of Simmie, SK., passed away February 27, 2010 at the Swift Current Care Centre. She was born on November 22, 1909 on her parents homestead near Duval, SK. She received her teaching certificate from the Regina Normal School. Margaret came to Simmie, SK. in 1933 to teach at Cedar View School. It was here she met a young man of the community, Leslie Stephenson. They were married December 25, 1935 in Regina, SK. She continued to teach in the district until her children started to arrive. Mary and Leslie farmed and later became partners in business in Simmie. Being a life-long learner and teacher, she returned to teaching in the 60's for a few years. Mary and Leslie retired from business in 1976. While in Simmie she was active with the United Church U.C.W., the Welfare Club, the Birthday Club and attending card parties. The couple moved to Swift Current in 1982, moving into their first new home. She took great enjoyment belonging to the Eastern Star, the U.C.W.the Swift Current Artist's Guild, the bowling leagues avd the Swift Current Senior's Centre. She loved to play bingo, cards, shuffleboard and scrabble, Mary loved to paint, using oils, pastels and watercolors. She painted until she was 98 years old. She enjoyed intertaining and celebrations held for their 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th and 70th anniversaries and lastly her 100th birthday, were memorable events. Mary was a devoted and caring person. She loved spending time with her family and took great pride and interest in everyon's endeavoours. She enjoyed her years of living in the Heritage Towers, moving there in 1995. In 2007, she became a resident of the Swift Current Care Centre. Mary was predeceased by her parents: Archibald and Catherine Campbell, her siblings: Irene, Archie, Earl, Jack, Kay and Harold, her husband Leslie 2006, son-in-law Bert Jordan in 2003 and her daughter-in-law Rosemary Stephenson 2004. The family of Ted Volden announces his sudden death at the Lanigan Hospital, Lanigan, Sk. on Friday, February 16, 2007. He was 95 years of age. Ted was born to Nels and Ane Marie (nee Hadland) Volden on NE 18-25-23 W2 at Mayview, Sk. near Duval, Sk. He and his sister, Marie and brother, Dean had a very sad childhood as they lost their mother, Ane Marie Hadland in 1917. Their father and various housekeepers raised them with a lot of help from Aunt Anna Bjelland. Uncle Ted had many special memories of growing up in Lakeside, school days, community events, hockey games, swimming in the lake and rides in Chris Sonstelie's home made boat, powered by a Model T Ford motor. The family developed life-long friendships with the Sonstelie, Olson and May families. He grew up on their farm until 1929, and when the dry years came, the Depression followed and the family moved north to LeRoy and continued to farm. They worked hard breaking new land and also enjoyed all the social life. The Volden horses and Caboose was used for many hockey trips out of town. Uncle Ted loved the land and you would see him in the field walking and running the soil through his fingers or walking in the wheat and chewing the kernels. He was still actively involved with the farm at the age of 92. He enjoyed trips to Manitou Lake, rodeos, camping trips in northern Saskatchewan and visiting his Bjelland, Hadland and Volden cousins. Thirty winters were spent in the southern U.S., alternating between Florida and Arizona. Uncle Ted was a quiet, private person but very aware of family and friends and had an avid interest in everyone. He had the most phenomenal memory so he was a great source of information. Ted will be lovingly remembered by his nephews, Gary Volden and Myron Volden; niece, Shelley (Garry) Kopperud; and two great-nephews and five great-nieces. Ted was predeceased by his mother, Ane Marie (nee Hadland) Volden (1917); sister, Marie (nee Volden) Peterson (1958); nephew, Marvin Volden (1962); father, Nels Volden (1963); niece Medrlyene (nee Peterson) Davidson (1994); brother, Dean Volden (1997); niece, Sharon (nee Peterson) Jandali (1998); and by his great nephew, Jason Robertson (1999). Interment will be at a later date in the Volden plot at the Duval Cemetery, Duval, Saskatchewan. WEENK - Olga "Ollie" (nee Fischer), August 23rd, 1928 - November 2nd, 2007. Ollie Weenk of Plenty Saskatchewan, age 79, passed away peacefully on the evening of November 2nd, 2007, at the Kindersley hospital in the presence of her family. She was born on August 23rd, 1928 in Duval Sask. Ollie lived the majority of her life in Plenty Sask. She is predeceased by her parents John George and Katrina Fischer; older brother Frank; daughter-in-law Linda (nee Meidl); brothers and sisters-in-law Casey/Mildred Weenk, Ben/Jennie Weenk, Katie Olson and Barb Spence. She is survived by loving husband of 58 years, Henry; sister, Jessie (Harvey) Burton; brother-in-law Danny Olson and five sons and their families: Barry (Leslie); David; John (Roseline); Alan (Betty); Dale (Sheila); 16 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. Born the middle child, she was baptized Lutheran November 11, 1928 and moved with her parents to CP rail locations in Tramping Lake, Keppel and Esk. In 1948 she moved to Plenty and took employment as a clerk for the general store. Here she met the love of her life and married Henry on October 7th, 1949. Their family farm, 10 miles south of Plenty, would grow to include 5 sons. Ollie enjoyed her life as a devoted mother and homemaker as well as being involved with the Order of the Eastern Star, United Church Women, Square Dancing Club and other community activities. She was an accomplished piano player and shared this gift on numerous occasions. Ollie excelled in creating a variety of crafts that have become treasured keepsakes. Throughout her life she enjoyed holidays with family and friends creating fond memories along the way. She will always be remembered for her cooking and delicious baking as well as her eagerness to challenge anyone in a game of cards. WILCOX - Harry Wilcox, former long time resident of Duval, passed away peacefully in a Calgary hospital on October 6, 2010. Harry was 102 years old and resided in Calgary, Alberta for the past 50 plus years. He spent most of his life working as a Caterpillar Tractor Operator (cat skinner, as he called it), a job he loved. Harry enjoyed life and was in good health until earlier this year when he fell and broke his hip. As written by Harry to his friends: "don't think of me as gone away, my journey's just begun. Life holds so many faucets; this world is only one, just think of me as resting, from the sorrows and the tears. I'm in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how I must be wishing that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away. Think of me as living in the hearts of those I've touched for nothing loved is ever lost, and I was loved as much as you were loved by me.....Harry". A celebration of Harry's life was held at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Calgary on October 10, 2010. In living memory of Harry, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park. At Harry's request, his ashes were scattered in the Kananaskis Country, Alberta, a place he worked and loved and where he had felt closest to God. Bob is survived by his daughter Celeste York of Regina and her daughters and their spouses, Lee Ann Croft and Chris Johnson, (Regina) and Marissa and Dan Burnell-Higgs, (Saskatoon), son Greg York and his wife Kathryn (Gieni) and their sons Marcus Robert Oneil York and Rhett Robert Oneil York (Hong Kong), very special friend Goldie Somerville (Regina), siblings Pauline Ireland (Comox), Alice Geib (Regina), Irene Truman (London), Harold Youck (London), Ivan Youche, Sharon (Osoyoos), Lyle Young (Prince George), in laws Leontina Hawkes (Regina), Wilf Eiswerth, Dorothy, (Vancouver), Bernadette Greschner (North Battleford), Art Eiswerth, Marg (Medicine Hat), Marie Thibault, Harve (Regina), Ken Eiswerth (Saskatoon), Richard Eiswerth, Sharon (Regina), Frank Eiswerth, Linda (Estevan), Vic Eiswerth, Jackie (Prince George). Robert Lawson York (Bob) was born on May 10, 1919 near the hamlet of Cymric SK to Maria (Koch) and John George Youck. Even as a preschooler Bob was an independent spirit exploring nature and riding horses. He began school in Govan and continued at Edelaue country school when the family moved near Strasbourg SK Bob came of age during the depression. There was no money to cover his continued education and so Bob worked a variety of jobs across Western Canada picking fruit in B.C., lumber-camping in Northern Alberta, and working as a ranch hand in Manitoba and Southern Alberta, where he worked with the Calgary Stampede in 1936. In 1941 while working for Neil Motors in Regina, Bob volunteered for active military service and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He trained at Dundurn and in England and was attached to First Canadian Army Overseas Headquarters. Bob saw active service in England, Belgium, Holland and France, and occupation service in Germany. Bob had a strong sense of duty to his family. After the war ended he turned down an offer of an officer's commission, further education and a base in his favourite city of London, England to return to Canada, as his mother had died and he was needed back home to raise his younger brothers and sister. Bob began farming in the Duval district in 1946, and in 1952, once his siblings were on their own; he courted a beautiful young lady who was teaching in Strasbourg. Bob married Floreen Eiswerth in her hometown of Young on July 11, 1953. Bob was a man of integrity, honour and duty, with a phenomenal spiritual and physical strength, an interest in people and an insatiable curiosity. He believed in hard work, life long learning, and good fun. He was generous, sensitive, opinionated, compassionate, loyal and very loving. He loved to read and to travel. He enjoyed playing baseball and golf and followed the Riders for many decades. Bob respected tradition while being pragmatic and making his own path. He could fix just about anything, design by eye and build what was needed with just the materials and tools at hand. He re-used and re-cycled long before it became trendy. Bob could witch for water and was an excellent cook. He believed in higher education and supported Floreen's career and graduate studies at the University of Missouri. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and supported their education and careers. Bob lived to see his granddaughters move into their careers of architecture and law, and danced late into the night at both of their weddings. He was thrilled with his young grandsons, both of whom carry his names. Within the span of a few short weeks we celebrated Bob's 90th Birthday and the Baptism of his newest grandson at the family farm, and the Wedding of his youngest granddaughter in Regina. He had all of his family with him as he then faced a short illness and hospitalization. Dad we love you and are honoured to have been your children and grandchildren. We will miss your singing, your dancing to the Big Bands, the greatness of a man who never lost the little boy in him, your strong warm hands, your powerful hugs, and your unique sense of humour. We will think of you each time we savor a glass of good scotch, dance to Glenn Miller or hear Lili Marlane. You will be with us in every corner of the farm retreat you created for your family's enjoyment. Carry on Soldier. YOUCK - Albert (March 13, 1920 - November 30, 2013). Albert was born to Mary and Jacob Youck north of Duval, Sask. He was the eldest of 12 children. Albert became an excellent farmer, a skilled carpenter and community supporter. His kind and generous spirit will be deeply missed by his entire family. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the St. John Lutheran Church, Strasbourg, Sask. YOUCK - David went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the age of 89 years. He was born on the farm near Duval, SK on January 15, 1925, the fourth of twelve children. David attended and graduated Grade 12 from Strasbourg School. He was enlisted and took army training at Dundurn, SK but fortunately, he did not see combat. David moved to Regina, where he worked as a city clerk before working for the Provincial Government (CVA) for 24 years until his early retirement in 1987. He enjoyed bicycling to work and continued to ride with the gang until the summer of 2013. David enjoyed traveling, visiting places all over Europe, Israel, Russia, China, Egypt, and the USA; and visiting with friends and relatives whom he cared about. He was predeceased by his wife Hilda (2004); his parents, Jacob and Mary; brothers, Elmer, Alex, Roy, and Albert Youck; sister Elsie Purdy; brothers-in-law, Peter Bay, Helmut and Alfred Klein, Alfred Kelm, Hilmer Elsasser; sisters-in-law, Agnes Klein and Ann Kelm. David was also post-deceased by his sister-in-law Alma Elsasser. Left to cherish his memories are his son Ryan; brothers, Allan of Regina, Ted (Bernice) of Edmonton, Gordon (Merle) and Edward (Ingrid) of Strasbourg; sisters, Pauline of Strasbourg and Lila (Ron) Sagness of Outlook; brother-in-law Irvin; sisters-in-law, Margaret Youck, Lynn Youck, Adeline Youck, Ella (Harold) Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The celebration of his earthly life will be held at Christ Lutheran Church 4825 Dewdney Ave, Regina with Rev. Dennis Hendricksen officiating on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Interment will take place in Riverside Memorial Park. YOUCK - Wilfred Youck passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord on Monday, June 17, 2002 at the age of 71. Wilfred Arnold Youck was born on New Year's Eve, 1930, in Duval, SK. The youngest in the family, Wilf had 9 sisters and 1 brother. Wilfred is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Isabel (nee Radu) and his memory lives on through their two children, daughter Cheryl (Danny) DeBolt and son Kevin (Emily), both of Regina, and his grandchildren Kristin and Derek DeBolt. Wilfred leaves to mourn his sisters Dolly (Ross) Barker of Port Colborne, Ontario, Esther Robbins of Regina, Bertha Erhardt of South Burnaby, B.C., Hilda Vetter of Lincoln, Nebraska, Elsie (Ed) Mossman of Edmonton, brother-in-law Harold (Irene) Radu, and sister-in-law Doreen Bjornson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Wilfred was predeceased by his brother Rev. Alex Youck, and sisters Katie Erhardt, Molly Youck, Mary Dent, and Emma Bauer. The family will hold a service of remembrance at Christ Lutheran Church, 4825 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK, on Friday, June 21 at 2:30 p.m. ZORN - Claude Richard was born on May 19, 1925 on the family farm in the MacNutt District. He had 13 brothers and sisters. Dad completed 8 years of school in the Homeland District. After farming a few years with his dad, he met and married our mother, Thusnelda Zorn (nee Kendel). They farmed a couple of years just outside of MacNutt and then dad decided to take a job as a Grain buyer with the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. He worked as a Grain buyer in various locations, Mehan, Marchwell, Duval and Southey. He remained in Southey and retired there in 1985. In Dad's mind, Southey was always his home. The relationships that he fostered there with his friends and farmers alike were treasured by him until his passing. Dad was community minded and took part in many community activities-Church, Museum, Lion's Club and Senior Citizens Centre. His favorite pastimes included card games, curling, playing pool, golfing and fishing. If dad hadn't sworn at you in a game of cards you obviously hadn't won the game. Due to health reasons, mom and dad decided to move to Yorkton in 2005 to live at the Bentley Retirement Community. Dad's pride and joy were his family and they live on to celebrate his life. His loving wife of 60 years Nelda, daughter in-law Lindsay Zorn and her children Brenda (Michael) Nelson and great grandchildren Reese and Darren Zorn; Bryce (Sylvia)Zorn and their children Aaron (Lida) Zorn, Tara (Joey) Lasko and great grandchild Amara; Heather Gartner and her children Aimie Gartner, Kayla (Jack Davis)Gartner and great grandchild Aiva; Carolee (Lynton Evans) Zorn and their children Rebecca and Jordan Evans; Michael (Julie) Zorn and granddog, Harley. Claude is also survived by his two sisters, Eileen and Alice and numerous nieces and nephews. There along with Jesus to greet Dad when he arrived in heaven were his eldest son Allan, great grandchild Cohen Nelson, his parents and his eleven brothers and sisters. Dad is our rock, our inspiration and our greatest supporter. Dad will truly be treasured in our memories forever. A Service of Prayer and Remembrance will be held Thursday, January 24 at 8:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Christies Funeral Home in Yorkton, SK. Funeral Services will be Friday, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Southey, SK. An Interment Service will follow in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. |
