Obituary

George Wheldon Conrad

KINGSTON, Dec. 19 – The communities of Kingston and Voglers Cove were deeply saddened by the sudden passing of George Wheldon Conrad, at Kentville, on December 9.

The late Mr. Conrad, who was born on October 3, 1916, at Voglers Cove, was the son of Mrs. Lelia and the late Alfred Conrad. He was a member of the United Church of Canada, Kingston, the church choir and the 1st Kingston Boy Scouts Group Committee.

Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lelia Conrad; wife Jeanette, formerly of Lunenburg; daughters Donna, of Ottawa; Cheryl and son Barry, at home; five sisters, Lorinda (Mrs. Byron Reinhardt), Voglers Cove; Olive (Mrs. Gordon McKinnon), Mill Village; Vivian (Mrs. Lew Hill), Ottawa; Melba (Mrs. George Parks), East Port Medway; Sylvia (Mrs. George Fyffe), Dartmouth.

Funeral service was held from the United Church of Canada, Voglers Cove, on Tuesday afternoon, December 12, with rev. Farguhar McKinnon of Brooklyn, and Rev. Morris Barss, Kingston, officiating.

Hymns sung by the choir were, "O Master Let Me Walk With Thee", "The Lord’s My Shepherd", "Good Night and Good Morning" and "Abide With Me", at the graveside.

Interment was at Maple Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Leroy Conrad, Emmerson Conrad, Berlin Bower, Arnold Crouse, Lloyd Lohnes and Garth Reinhardt.

Floral tributes were many and beautiful and testified to the esteem in which the deceased was held.
