ABBETT FAMILY

ABBETT, John Ezekiel, (Private Company G, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment)  Enlisted August 14, 1862 as a 26 year old farmer from Newsite, Tallapoosa County Alabama. He and his brother-in- law were captured at South Mountain, July 4, 1863 sent to Fort McHenry, Maryland. He was released and joined Company H 8th Confederate Cavalry, captured again, spent remainder of war in Camp Chase Ohio. On Feb. 5, 2003, James D. Allen, creator of this website passed away
There is no doubt that he would want the work on the
6th Alabama Infantry to go on.
