FRY

Federal Republic of Yugoslavia

Yugoslavia is one of Europe's newest countries. A new nation called the Kingdom of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes was formed on December 1, 1918. It consisted of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Dalmatia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.

On November 29, 1945, the monarchy was abolished and the nation became a communist republic called the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia.

In 1991, the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia began to break up, with Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Macedonia declaring their independence. There are separate message boards for the new or old Croatia, Bosnia and Macedonia.

On April 27, 1992, a new constitution was adopted and Serbia and Montenegro changed the name of the country to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY). It consists of the Republic of Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia. Also included are the autonomous provinces of Vojvodina and Kosovo.
