     Joseph Wilson Grayson was born on 2 May 1872 in North Carolina.^3,4,5

Joseph Wilson Grayson married Martha Ida Yelton, daughter of John Landrum Yelton and Ellen Malinda Robertson, on 19 November 1893 at J. L. Yelton's, Golden Valley, Rutherford County, North Carolina.¹ Joseph Grayson, age 28 was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1900 Census of Rutherford County, North Carolina. Amanda Hutchins married Columbus Mills Yelton, son of Francis Marion Yelton and Harriet Caroline Toney, on 29 August 1897 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. One story that is told about her is that she ran off and
married Mills Yelton when she was only about fourteen. When
they came back home, my great-grandfather Hutchins (I don't know
his given name) made her get down off the carriage and gave her
a whipping! I guess he thought she had no business going off and
getting married at fourteen, even back then.^1,4 Manda Yelton, age 20 was listed as the wife of Mills Yelton, age 22 in the 1900 Census of Camp Creek, Rutherford County, North Carolina.⁵ Manda Yelton, age 28 was listed as the wife of Mills Yelton, age 34 in the 1910 Census of Rutherford County, North Carolina.⁶ Amanda Hutchins died on 7 December 1968.⁷

Yelton, age 48 in the 1910 Census of Upper Laurel Township, Madison County, North Carolina.⁴ Sarah R. Yelton, age 29 was listed as the wife of Thomas J. Yelton, age 58 in the 1920 Census of Madison County, North Carolina.⁵ Regete Yelton, age 40 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Madison County, North Carolina. Because the marriage took place at F. Yelton's, I think the Lettie J. who married John A. Hutchins is the daughter of Francis Yelton. She is listed as Jane Hutchins in the 1880 Census.² Lettie J. Hutchins, age 43 was listed as the wife of John Hutchins, age 43 in the 1900 Census of Rutherford County, North Carolina.³

     Welcome A. Allen was born circa 1871 in Indiana.¹ Welcome A. Allen, age 9, was listed as the son of James Allen, age 32, in the 1880 Census of Rice County, Kansas.¹

The family included his wife, Phenellia Yelton, age 26, his sons, Eugene Yelton, age 2 years and 6 months and Paul Yelton, age 4(?) months, his daughter, Catherine Yelton, age 5.⁵ June B. Yelton, age 41 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Blacksburg, Cherokee County, South Carolina.
