At 6 o'clock in the morning on August 5, 1918, death mercifully terminated the prolonged suffering of Rose Alice, daughter of Mrs Mary C Mitts, at the ranch home of the latter west of Sundance. The end had been daily expected for some time, although all that medical skill, mother's love, brotherly affection and ministrations of kind friends could avail was given the patient sufferer. Cancer of the stomach is said to have been the cause of death.
Deceased was born in Adams county, Ill, August 28, 1878, and moved with her parents to Missouri when eight years of age. Early in life she united with the Baptist church and endeavored to live a true Christian life. The courage and Christian fortitude manifested through her long ordeal certainly verified her belief in the better life and a future reward. She had devoted seven years of her useful life to the noble work of head governess of the Methodist Episcopal orphan's home for boys at St Louis, Mo. She leaves a mother, a sister and five brothers to mourn her sad death.
Rev Jennings conducted the funeral at the ranch and internment was in the Miller creek cemetery.
The mother and other relatives of the deceased desire to extend their grateful appreciation to all who assisted during the illness and after the death of their loved one.
