Helen Rae (Sherman) Nixon, 47, passed away on September 22, 2011. She was born on December 10, 1963, in Spearfish, South Dakota, to Robert “Bob” and Regina (Justice) Sherman. Helen was baptized and confirmed at Christ Church Episcopal in Lead, South Dakota. She also attended school there and graduated from Lead High School in 1982.
Helen lived in Sundance, Wyoming, for a number of years as well as Casper, Wyoming, and her current residence at Thomasville, Georgia.
Helen is survived by her current husband, James (BB) Nixon; her mother, Regina (Justice) Sherman of Sturgis, South Dakota; a brother David Sherman of Sturgis; sister-in-law Jennifer Sherman; sister Jo (Sherman) Messerschmidt and brother-in-law Todd Messerschmidt of Wendell, Minnesota; her children; her sons, James Sherman of Thomasville, Georgia, and Kurt (Kim) Sherman of Sturgis; daughter Melissa Sherman of Thomasville, Georgia; her grandchildren, Aleah and Faith Sherman of Sturgis.
Helen was preceded in death by her brother Robert Sherman and her father Robert “Bob” Sherman, as well as a previous husband, Glen Tengler.
Helen had a true love of animals and kept pets around her during her whole life. She was a soft hearted trusting soul who had a true love of all and showed it without fail. She will be truly missed.
A memorial service was held at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept 28, 2011.
