Hall-Hornbeck Cemetery (aka Johnson Cemetery)
Contributed by Teresa Fordyce
Take Rt. 50 East out of Parkersburg for about 12 miles. Turn right onto Progress Ridge Road. Travel for 2 miles, turn left onto Dewey Ridge Road. Travel for mile. Cemetery will be on the right.
Originally this was the Johnson Cemetery. It is not known why, since there are no names in it like that, perhaps it was first owned by
Johnson's.
This cemetery is on private property owned by C. Horner. It is no longer used, the last burial being in 1956. The grounds have not been maintained and are overgrown with brush and weeds. The stones are in very poor condition, some have broken and others have fallen over.
This is a complete reading of all existing headstones when I walked and transcribed this cemetery in Jun 05, 2003.
