Objectives: The Wirt County Historical Society brings together those
people interested in history and in helping others appreciate our American
heritage. The Society endeavors to discover, collect and preserve any
material which may help to establish or illustrate the history of the Wirt
County area. Members work to preserve buildings, monuments, markers and other
areas of historical significance. The Society also co-operates with other
historical societies to collect and disseminate information and preserve
materials of state-wide sigificance.
Membership: Membership is open to all persons interested in the
objectives of the Society. Annual dues are $10.00 and are payable upon
becoming a member. Dues are subsequently due January 1 of each year.
Meetings: Regular meetings of the Society are held on the 3rd
Monday of each month at the Wirt County High School in the Dora B.
Woodyard Memorial Library conference room at 7:00 pm.
Queries: Queries may be sent to the above address for posting in the
Society newsletter. Queries are free to Society members and $2.00 each
for non-members.
