Baberton, OH died at the Baberton Citizens Hospital on Thursday, 27 Nov
1997. She was 72 years of age. She was born in Strange Creek, on 29 Aug
1925, the daughter of the late Harmon and Grady THOMAS DAWSON. Services
were held on Sunday, November 30, at 2:00 p.m., at the Adams Funeral Home
chapel in Cowen . . . Burial was at the Blacks

of Boggs, died on Tuesday, 14 Apr 1998, at Summersville Memorial Hospital.
She was 81 years of age. She was born in Columbus, Ohio, on 20 Nov 1916,

RIFFLE, Jack of Clarksburg,
died at his residence on Tuesday, March 10, 1998. He was 68 years of age.
He was born in Hacker Valley, on May 28, 1929, the son of the late Adam
and Mary CUTLIP RIFFLE. Services were held on Saturday, March 14, at 1:00
p.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs . . . Burial

Rodehaver, Lela B.
of Webster Springs died at her residence on Friday, 14 August 1998, following
a long illness. She was 85 years of age. She was born in Sutton, on September
23, 1912, the daughter of the late George and Anice McCourt Young. Services
were held on Sunday, August 16, at 2:00 p.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral
Home in Webster Springs, with the Rev. Minter Lynch, officiating. Burial
was at the Harrison Cochran Cemetery

Rogers, Daisy a resident
of the Webster Continuous Care Center in Cowen, formerly of Diana, died
at WCCC on Sunday, March 22, 1998. She was 97 years of age. She was born
in Hacker Valley, on March 7, 1901, the daughter of the late James and
Odella McClure Pudder. Services will be held on Friday, March 26, at 1:00
p.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs . . . Burial
wil be at the Fairview Cemetery, in Webster

Springs, died at the CAMC-Memorial Division in Charleston, on Tuesday,
28 Oct 97. She was 84 years of age. She wa born in Crumpler, NC on
16 Nov 1912, the daughter of the late John and Ida Phipps Miller. Services
were held on Friday, October 31, at 2:00 p.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral
Home in Webster Springs . . . Burial was at the Miller

Rose, Oma Margaret,
of Shinnston, died at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, on Saturday,
December 26, 1998, following a brief illness. She was 75 years of age.
She was born in Webster Springs on March 18, 1923, the daughter of hte
late John and Angeline Rose Sears. Services were held on Wednesday, December
30, at 11:00 a.m., at the Dorsey Funderal Home in shinnston, with the Rev.
David Hamrick officiating. Burial was at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery.

of Camden-on-Gauley, died in Charleston, on Thrusday, March 19, 1998, following
a long illness. She was 86 years of age. She was born in Cranberry Ridge,
Webster County, on June 19, 1911, the daughter of the late Jack and Lena
SHORT DAVIS.
SANDERS, Hilton Henry
of Rock Cave, died on Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at United Hospital Center
in Clarksburg. He was 80 years of age. He was born in Curtin, on January
5, 1918 the son of the late Richard and Bessie Burrough Sanders. Services
were held on Saturday, June 13, at 1:00 p.m., at the Robert M. Vincent
Funeral Home in French Creek, with the Rev. William Eskew and the Rev.
Kevin Bender, officiating. Burial was at the Rock Cave Cemetery. (17 Jun

SHORT, Grafton M.,
of Cowen, died at his residence on Wednesday, December 23, 1998, following
a short illness. He was 90 years of age. He was born in Coe, on January
7, 1908, the son of the late John and Nancy Russell short. He was a lifelong
resident of Webster County, and was a retired timberman and coal miner.
He was a Protestant by faith. Services were held on Wednesday, December
30, at 11:00 a.m., at the Adams Funeral Home in Cowen, with the Rev. Okey
Wayne, and the Rev. Harry Green, officiating. Burial was at the Alex
Williams Cemetery near Camden-on-Gauley. (30 Dec 98)

died at his residence on Wednesday, April , 1998, following a brief illness.
He was 72 years of age. He was born in Boggs, on July 11, 1925, the son

Webster Springs, died at Webster Continuous Care Center in Cowen, on Sunday,
May 24, 1998. He was 82 years of age. He was born in Hacker Valley, on
July 12, 1915, the son of the late James Sylvester and Lillie Edna Aanderson
Sparks. Services were held on Wednesday, May 27, at 11:00 a.m., at the
Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs, with the Rev. Cofer Cochran,

of Webster Springs died at Summersville Memorial Hospital on Sunday, May
31, following a long illness. She was 77 years of age. She was born in
Clarksburg, on June 14, 1920, the daughter of the late William Francis

THAYER, Dana E.,
of Flatwoods, died at his residence on Tuesday, December 1, 1998, following
a short illness. He was 92 years of age. He was born on May 6, 1906, in
Hyer, Braxton County, the son of the late Giddeon Byrne and Sabina Ellen
Albert Thayer. Services were held on Saturday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m.
at the Greene-Robinson Funeral Home in Sutton, with the Rev. Tom Propst
officiating. Burial was at the Sutton Cemetery.
Thomas, Mary Io Jordan,
of Seville, Ohio, fomerly of Webster County, died on Thursday, September
26, 1998, in Wadsworth, Ohio. She was 86 years of age. She was born in
Hacker Valley, on November 28, 1911. Services were held on Wednesday, September
30, at 1:30 p.m., at the Waite & Son Funeral Home's Medina chapel,
with the Rev. Daniel C. Hanny officiating. Burial was at the York Township

WALLS, Clarence M.
of Gallipolis, Ohio, formerly of Point Pleasant, died on Sudany, February
15, 1998, at the Arbors of Gallipolis, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
He was 80 years of age. He was born in Clay County, on September 15, 1917,
the son of the late A. F. "Poppy" and Baney HENSLEY WALLS. (18 Feb 98)
WALKER, Ivan R., 79, of 117 Elm St., Struthers,
died of a heart ailment at 12:25 a.m. Sunday in South Side Hospital where
he had been a patient six weeks. Mr. Walker was born Aug. 14, 1892 in Herold,
WV, a son of Lewis M. and Minnie A. McAVOY WALKER and came here
in January from Warren. He was a retired coal miner and a member
of the Baptist faith. He leaves four daughters, Mrs.
Argola Pugh of Akron, Mrs. Gatha Panucci of Dunbar, WV, Mrs. Jennie English
of Struthers and Mrs. Utha Johnson of Warren; four sons, Bernard of Maywood,
Calif., Granvil of Struthers, Arlis of Warren, and Vanie of Struthers;
two sisters, Mrs. Luanna Lowe in Florida and Mrs. Phala Bookhart of Cleveland;
two brothers, Virgil of Garret, Ind., and Ardie of Charleston, WV; 26 grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at
1 p.m. Thursday at Dodd & Hurt Funeral Home, Webster Springs, WV.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Davidson Becker Funeral Home

His first wife was Lucinda GIVEN from Webster
County. His second wife was Esta CHRISTIAN from Webster County.

Walker, Mrs. Verna L., 71, died yesterday at the
home of a son, Virgil Walker of 242 Drew St., St. Albans. She is
also survived by one other son, Arthur Walker of Chesapeake; one daughter,
Mrs. Andy Dodrill of South Charleston; two stepsons, Ivan R. Walker of
Jerryville and Alden Walker of Kanawha City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary
Marks of Beltsville, MD, and Mrs. Lou Hanna Lowe of Warren, OH; three brothers,
Joe Krantz of Raceland, Ky., Charles Krantz of Switzer, and Clinton Krantz
of Harold; two sisters,
Mrs. Theodore Griffith and Mrs. George Frame, both of
Widen, 31 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements
are incomplete. The body is at the Fred Cooke mortuary in Nitro.

Hospital, on Friday February 13, 1998, following a hear attack. She was
84 years old. She was born in Webster County, on June 15, 1913, the daughter

Wheeler, Joann S.
of Perry , Ohio, formerly of Webster County, died at the Cleveland Clinic
on Wednesday, March4 , 1998. She was 57 years of age. She was born in Hacker
Valley, on December 10, 1940, the daughter of the late Homer HAMILTON and
Mary E. CLAYPOOL Sears. Services were held on March 7, at 1:00 p.m., at
the Behn Family Funeral Home in Madison, Ohio . . . Burial was at the Perry

I am trying to find information on a Mary May BARNETT
who married a WILLIAMS. At one time she lived in Parcoal with Bazil
and Rose COOL. She was taken to Elkins hospital and gave birth to
twins, and died of kidney failure on Dec. 26, 1935. The twins were adopted

age. She was born in Givens Run, on February 27, 1938, the daughter of

Woodring, Nellie D., 87, of Canal Fulton, died
Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, at Chapel Hill Community. She was born in Richwood,
W. Va., had been a resident of Canal Fulton for 50 years, and was a 50-year
member of the Canal Fulton Church of the Nazarene. Preceded in death by
husband, Russell, in 1987, and son, Edward, she is survived by daughter,
Betty R. (Charles) Elliott of Brewster; son, Russell (Louella) Woodring
Jr. of Akron; four grandchildren, 11 great-gandchildren; and sister, Minnie
Gibson of Ravenna. Funeral services Monday, 11 a.m., at the Canal Fulton
Church of the Nazarene, 771 E. Cherry St., with Rev. Paul Bowlby officiating.
Burial at Union Cemetery in Canal Fulton. Visitation SUNDAY, 2 to 5 p.m.,
at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (Route 93, Canal Fulton), and Monday,

WOODS, Edward R. (Dick),
66, passed away June 20, 2000. Born in Diana, W. Va., he lived in the Akron
area most of his life. Mr. Woods retired from Atlantic Foundry after 27
years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved gardening.
Preceded in death by his parents, Victor R. and Lenore Woods and his two
sisters, he will be sadly missed by his wife of 45 years, Nola G. Woods;
and children, Ned (Linda) Gum, Marcheta (William) Fox, Towana (Mike) Flowers,
Vickie (John) Sells, Danny (Mary) Woods, and Denise Woods; 14 grandchildren;
brother, Gary Woods; sister, Karen Sue Rescoe; and many other relatives

WRIGHT, Cecil S.of
North Lima, Ohio ----- Mr. Cecil S. Wright, of North Lima,
Ohio, died at Salem Community Hospital on Friday, Feb 23, 1990, following
a long illness. He was 79 years of age. He was born on March 17, 1910 in
Cowen, the son of the late Nimrod and Ella Williams Wright. He moved to
North Lima, Ohio approximately 30 years ago, and was retired from the Republic
Steel Company in 1975, to youngstown, Ohio. He had worked there for 15
years and was a brakeman on the railroad. Prior to that he was a coal miner
in West Virginia. He was a Protestant by faith. He is survived by: his
wife, Mrs. Wilma Blake Wright, who he married on May 25, 1931; daughter,
Mrs. Clyde (Virginia) Bragg of Niles, Ohio: sons, Bernard Wright of Northfield,
Ohio and Eugene Wright of North Lima, Ohio; Sisters, Mrs. Stanley (Lula)
Wright of Cowen and Mrs., Gldia Martin of Akron, Ohio; brother, Junior
Wright of Cowen; 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by two sisters and his parents. Services were held at 1:00 p.m.
on Tuesday, February 27, at the Seederly-Monj Funeral Home in North Lima,
Ohio, with the Rev. Wayne E. Meadows, officiating. Burial was in the Mount
Olivet Cemetery in North Lima, Ohio (28 Feb 1990)
