ISENHART, Earl C. of Ripley, formerly of Webster County, died at the Jackson General Hospital, on Sunday, January 11, 1998 .. . He was 79 years of age. He was born in Webster Springs, on July 31, 1918. (14 Jan 98)


JOHNS, Kenneth N., of Erbacon, died at Webster Springs on Monday, August 10, 1998, following a long illness. He was 51 years of age. He was born in Cowen, on  August 25, 1946, the son of Delbert Ray and Mabel Greens Johns. Services were held on Thursday, August 13, at 2:00 p.m., at Adams Funeral Home in Cowen, with the Rev. Okey Wayne officiating. Burial was at the Johns Cemetery in Erbacon. (19 Aug 98)


KEIFFER, Michael D. of Mineral Wells, Texas, formerly of Nicholas County, died on Tuesday, December 20, 1997 . . . He was 34 years of age. He was born in Richwood, on September 4, 1063. (14 Jan 98)


KOMOROWSKI, John Grover of Richwood died on Friday, April 10, 1998, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was 54 years of age. He was born in New Cumberland, on December 11, 1943, the son of Mabel SUTTON Komorowski and the late John Stanley KOMOROWSKI. (15 Apr 98)


LEE, Elbert "Veon" of Belmont, North Carolina, formerly of Erbacon, died at the Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, NC on Friday, November 27, 1998. He was 74 years of age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Lane Lee and Rosa Byrd Weese Lee, and by brother Glen Lee. The McLean Bumgardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements, with the Revs. Robert V. Dodd of North Carolina, William Perrine and Russ Stump, both of West Virginia, officiating at the service. (09 Dec 98)


LEWIS, Verle Duane of Groveport, Ohio, formerly of Webster County, died on Tuesday, April 17, 1998, at the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Hospital. He was 66 years of age. He was the son of the late William McKinley and Dove Lewis. (15 Apr 98)


Linger, Mabel "Peg" of Rock Cave, died at her residence on Saturday, March 21, 1998. She was 76 years of age. She was born in Arlington, on March 23, 1921, the daughter of the late John R. and Elizabeth SIMMS LANE.  Services were held on Tuesday, March 24, at 12:00 p.m., at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Inc. in Buckhannon . . . Burial was at the Buckhannon Memorial Park, in Buckhannon. (25 Mar 98)


LOUGH, Johnny of Lakin, died at the Pleasant Valley Hospital in Point Pleasant, following a short illness. He was 82 years of age. He was born in Buckhannon, on December 15, 1915, the son of the late Philip and Julia FISHER. Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 2:00 p.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs . . . Burial was at the Cool Springs Cemetery in Diana. (23 Dec 97)


Louk, Eula Gay of Mill Creek, died Friday February 23rd in the Davis Memorial Hospital, following a long illness., She was 86 years
of age. Born December 9, 1903 at Bergoo, she was a daughter of the late Adam and Elliot Hamrick Cummings. On October 21, 1921, at Webster Springs, she was married to Cameron Louk who survives in Mill Creek. She was a member of the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church. She is survived by; her husband sons, Grover Louk of Huttonsville and Howard Louk of Mingo; Daughters, Eva Hamrick of Elkins, Mrs. Dennie (Mary) Duff Taylor of Michigan, Mrs., James (Kathleen) Mays of Melvindale, Michigan, and Genevieve Louk of Mill Creek; Brothers, Foster Cummings of Webster Springs; Robert Cummings of Charleston; sisters, Leota Knotts of Warren, Ohio. Theta Triplett of Bergoo, Lorena Ingram of White Sulphur Springs and Arletta Oldaker of Baltimore,, Md.; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 3 greatgreat grandchildren. Mr. and Mrs Louk also raised Mrs. Jon(Twila) Parrack of Elkins and Mrs. Roger (Beverly Jo) Quinn of Inwood, who also survive her. She was preceded in death by son, Paul; brothers, Woodrow, Merle and Minter; Sisters Camella, Ethel and Elmeta; and one grandson. (28 Feb 1990)


McCartney, Betty Lorain "Lori" of Webster Springs, died at her residence on Wedesday, May 20, 1998, following a long illness. She was 34 years of age. She was born in Alliance, Ohio, on December 29, 1963. Survived by her parents Billy C. Stephenson and Barbara Linkouus. Services were held on Sunday, May 24, at 2:00 p.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs, with the Rev. Larry Cochran, officating. Burial was at the McCartney Family Cemetery in Webster Springs. (27 May 98) (03 June 98)


McCoy, Ruth E., of Parkersburg, died on Tuesday, 14 Apr 1998, at the CAMC. She was 65 years of age. She was born in Uler in Roane County. (22 Apr 98)


McCROSKEY, William, Sr., of Webster Springs, died at his residence on Monday, 20 Apr 1998 following a long illness. He was 70 years of age. He was born in Fenwick, on 03 Oct 1927, the son of the late Londreth Hobart and Elizabeth McNeal McCroskey. (22 Apr 98)


McCUMBERS, Emitt H. of Camden-on-Gauley, died at his residence on Tuesday, May 18, 1998, follwoing a long illness. He was 86 years of age. He was born in Camden-on-Gauley on June 1, 1911, the son of the late John and Dorothy Simmons McCumbers. Graveside services were held on Friday, May 22, at 11:00 a.m., at W.VA Memorial Gardens in Calvin, with the Rev. Heith Williams, officiating, with burial to follow. Adams Funeral Home in Cowen, was in charge of the arrangements. (27 May 98)


McGurren, Margaret "Toots" Green of Salem, Ohio----  Mrs. Margaret "Toots" Green McGurren of Salem, Ohio, died on Saturday February 10, 1990 at the Salem Community Hospital, Following a two-year illness. She was 72 years of age. She was born on May 15, 1917 in Thornwood, the daughter of the the late William and Clementine Blankenship. She was a Protestant by faith and a
homemaker. She is survived by; sons, James Blankenship of Burton, Ohio, Eugene Blankenship, of Salem, Ohio, Arlie Chewning of Orrville, Ohio, Jack Chewning of Ongo, and Charles Chewning of Hastins, Mich,; brother, Charles Blankenship of Warren, Ohio; sisters Ruby Holenchick of Salem, Ohio and Ocie Clayton of Webster Springs; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by husband Pat McGurren, and by  two sisters, Madge Trask and Gertrude Tingler. Services were held on Tuesday, February 13, at the Stark Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Gilbert Gamble officiating. Burial was in the Hope
Cemetery in Salem, Ohio. (28 Feb 1990)


Mason, Ernestine MASON of Monaca, Pennsylvania, formerly of Cowen, died on Thursday, November 27, 1997 at the Villa St. Joseph in Baden, PA. She was 68 years of age. (31 Dec 98)


Mason, Elsie L. of Cowen, died on Wednesday, April 22, 1998, in Gray Court, SC, following a brief illness. She was 68 years of age. She was born in Pocahontas County, on May 21, 1929, the daughter of hte late Worthy and Clara O'BRIEN VAUGHN. (29 Apr 98)


Miller, Essie Ruth of Mansfield, Ohio, formerly of Webster County, died at the MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital on Friday, July 3, 1998, following a long illness. She was 82 years of age. She was born in Webster Springs on July 12, 1915, the daughter of the late Thomas and Lona MILLER. Services were heldon Tuesday, July 7, at 10:30 a.m., at the Wapponer Funeral Home . . . Burial was at the Rowsburg Cemetery.


MILLER, Johnnnie of Webster Springs, died at Webster County Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, March 17, 1998, following a brief illness. He was 68 years of age. He was born in Webster Springs on April 1, 1929, the son of the late Alber MILLER and Lovie MILLER MILLER. Services wre held on Friday, March 20, beginning at 11:00 a.m., at the Dodd & Reed Funeral Home in Webster Springs . . . Burial was at the Fairview Cemetery in Webster Springs.  (25 Mar 98)


Miller, Virginia Mae Duckworth of Jacksonville, Flordia, formerly of Cowen, died at her residence on Thursday, June 4, 1998, following a long illness. She was 76 years of age. Services were held on Monday, June 8, at 2:00 p.m., at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Orange Park, Fla, with the Rev. Scott Cope, officiating. Burial was at the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery. (17 Jun 98)


MILLS, Lloyd Dorrel, of Mills Mountain, Cowen, died at Webster Springs, on Friday, February 12, 1999, following a long illness. He was 84 years of age. He was born on Mills Mountain on November 6, 1914, the son of the late Charles Wesley and Lucinda Ellen Lewis Mills. He was a lifelong resident of Webster County, and was a retired coal miner and logger. He was Methodist by faith. Services were held on Monday, February 15, at 1:00 p.m., at the Mills Mountain Church near Cowen, with the Rev. James Simmons and the Rev. Okey Wayne, officiating. Burial was at the Mills Mountain Cemetery, near the church. Adams Funeral Home in Cowen, was in charge of the arrangements. (17 Feb 99)


Mullens, Mabel NORMAN of Cowen, died at Webster County Memorial Hospital on Sunday, April 5, 1998, following a brief illness. She was 78 years of age. She was born on December 6, 1919, the daughter of the late Andrew and Alma Wilson Norman. (08 Apr 98)


NAYLOR, Vernon W., of Cowen, died at his resience on Sunday, December 27, 1998, following a long illness. He was 56 years of age. He was born in Kanawha County, on April 2, 1942, the son of the late Effie Naylor. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepparents, Darius and Gay Naylor. Services were held on Wednesday, December 30, at 2:00 p.m., at the Adams Funeral Home in Cowen, with the Rev. Okey Wayne officiating. Burial was at the Vernon Naylor Family Cemetery, near Cowen.  (30 Dec 98)


NESTER, Wilcie Elizabeth, 78, of 3211 State Route 167, Jefferson, OH, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at her residence. She was born July 4, 1921, in Erbacon, Webster County, a daughter of Ellen Bleigh, Akron, Ohio, and the late William Dillon. Her husband, Guy Edward Nestor, whom she married June 7, 1964, preceded her in death on July 21, 1990. Also surviving are four sons, Walter Cogar, Ashtabula, Ohio, Paul Cogar, West Salem, Ohio, Harold Cogar, Shinnston, and Clyde Cogar, Painesville, Ohio; four daughters, Mrs. Comas (Lora) Fish, Rock Creek, Ohio, Mrs. Shirley Deem, Warren, Ohio, Mrs. Tom (Sue Ashcraft) Derbyshire, Elkins, and Mrs. Roger (Kathy) Brown, Quincy, Ind.; one stepson, James Edward Nestor, Aspen, Va.; one stepdaughter, Mrs. William (Anna Mae) Taylor, Nutter Fort; one brother, George Knight, Columbus, Ohio; 18
grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Interment will be in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.

O'BRIEN, Leonard Marion of Webster Springs, died at the VA Medical Center in Clarksburg, on Saturday, July 11, 1998, following a long illness. He was 82 years of age. He was born in Springdale, on September 22, 1915, the son of the late Flavious and Mary Hammons Brynard. Mr. O'Briens' body was donated to the WVU Gift Registry in Morgantown. (15 Jul 98)


Phillips, Betty J.  of Vienna, died on Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at the Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. She was 57 years of age. She was born in Bergoo, the daughter of the late Roy Junior and Esta Mae MILLER MATHES0 Services were held on Thursday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m., at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg . . . Burial was at the Miller Cemetery. (01 Apr 98)
