Hammonds Cemetery
HAMMONDS CEMETERY
near Half Acre, Webster Co., WV
Directions: My name is Rodney Oyler and a few years back I went to a cemetery and wrote down all names from head stones.  Now I'm not sure of the name of the cemetery, My mother had my dad put a sign up on a tree calling it the Hammond cemetery but most spelling are Hamon in the cemetery.  It located up on top of the hill by Half Acre Church. If I'm not mistaken you will find two cemeterys in about the same spot. Half acre is located across the Gauley River half way from Camden On Gauley to Gauley Mills on County Road 48/ Cranberry Ridge Road.

(I had only heard the cemetery called Hell's Half Acre, all my life.  In going through some old papers? the phamplets they hand out at the funeral.  Dodd & Hurt Funeral Home must have been as confused as I am.  Celia M. Miller died in 1969 and gave her final resting place as the Hamon Cemetery, Virgil E. Miller died 1966 and they list his final resting place as the Hammon Cemetery.  I still don't the correct name, but will check to find out. Bill)

The numbers in front of the  names are husband and wife with their  names on the same headstone.

Some names may appear more than once. This could have happened by my reading foot markers. But a date on one set doesn’t match the other set.  There are several small stones stuck in the ground to show that a grave is there, but  a persons name is not on it.       Dated July 07, 1996
