I am looking for anyone with any info on Ballard
COGAR's father Robert of Webster Springs area. My grandmother,
Amy ROSE, was the dau. of Luther Perrine Bowers ROSE.
If any one can tell me about him, I would be grateful. Also, is there a
way to access any records in Webster Co.? My father told me the courthouse
burned down years ago and much was lost. True (that much was lost?)
Thank you Marcia Cogar DePalma of

My great grandfather Nathaniel Barnet ARTHUR
was born 30 Jun 1844. He may have been a son of James V. ARTHUR
and Mary Jane BENNETT, of Fayette County, [West] Virginia. If not,
then I do not know where Nathaniel was born. Nathaniel B. ARTHUR
married Eliza Jane BEVERIDGE/BEVERAGE, 18 Jan 1871 in Kentucky [county
unknown to me]. Their daughter [and my grandmother] Sarah Florence ARTHUR
was born 16 Aug 1890 in Gilmer County, West Virginia. In that same year
of 1890, Nathaniel B. ARTHUR took his family on horseback from Gilmer
County to Webster County, where he lived the remainder of his long life.
Mr. ARTHUR died 4 Sep 1937, at age 93. Now, can anyone help me with
three puzzles? I will be grateful for any advice or information. #1: Where
in Kentucky were Nathaniel ARTHUR and Eliza Jane BEVERIDGE
married? #2: Does anyone know whether Nathaniel B. ARTHUR enlisted
for military service in the Civil War, and, if so, did he serve in the
Confederate or the Union cause? I have been told that he helped in the
"Home Guard", but that might have been a cover-up for Confederate service.
And, #3: Was James V. ARTHUR the father of Nathaniel Barnet
ARTHUR? Again, thank you for your interest and help. It's great
to be a member of the Webster County group, and my mother is following
the messages, as well, by my reading them to her. Randy

Who had the given name of "Sylvia" [pronounced
"Silvee" in Webster County] in the early 1900's, that Nathaniel Barnet
ARTHUR knew or was related to, whom my mother, Sylvia Madaline MILLER,
was named after, in 1927? Does anyone know of a "Sylvia ADKISSON"?
