ROMANS, MUNCY, MARCUM
Assn of Romans Family Historians
Mon, 07 Sep 1998 00:50:37
Thomas J. & Elizabeth (Muncy) Romans lived in Wayne County, West
Virginia in the 1890s; possibly around Crum. The couple had at least
two sons; Lon C. (b. 3 Jul 1899), and George F. (b. 9 Aug 1897). Lon
C. Romans (marr. Colista Marcum on 23 May 1923) is the ancestor of
new member Micki Van Dyke. We need to know who Thomas J.'s parents were!
One key may be in an obituary handed down to Micki, apparently
handwritten by her grandmother (Colista Marcum), in reference to the
death of Ida (Romans) McKnight (1892-1933); d/o George W. and
Nancy (Hunt) Romans. It appears that there may be a link between the
two Romans lines. Ida's is an established line, now we need to bring the
two lines together.
Given the period, it looks like we are about ONE GENERATION
away from being able to tie this one up and welcome Micki as our
newest "long lost cousin." If you have ANY information regarding
Thomas J. Romans, please contact me.

I would like to buy a map which would tell me where the county cemeteries
are located. Is there such a map, if not where could I get directions????
The Copley-Pack and the Copley-Anderson are two I am most interested in at
this time. I am looking for James D. Copley, and James M. Copley, and Harrison
Copley. Would appreciate any suggestions.

Searching for info on parentage of William SPERRY, b. May 11, 1925, Crum,
Wayne CO, WV. He m. on Aug 17, 1949 at Dunlow, Wayne CO, WV, Pauline MARCUM,
b. June 2, 1933, Crum, Wayne CO, WV. William/Pauline marriage certificate
lists parents of William as Dewey SPERRY & Mina SPURLOCK. Can find no record
of Dewey and Mina being married and family tradition says they weren't. I
have info on Dewey but need info on parents of Mina, who is believed to have
been born/raised in Lincoln CO, WV, but may have been from Wayne CO. Would
appreciate lookup in census of 1910 & 1920 in Wayne & Lincoln CO's, WV, to
see if Mina (or a variant thereof) can be found. Thanks.
