Re: HARRIS, George and Nancy, ca. 1770s. This couple are the parents of Barbara Harris FITZWATER (b. abt. 1796, d. 1868 Tucker Co.), who was married to John FITZWATER. This family is shown in Randolph County in 1850 and in Tucker County in the 1860 census. Barbara's death certificate states: "Parents: George & Nancy HARRIS, born in Hardy Co., VA/WV." In 1860, an 80 year old woman named Sarah HARRIS was residing with them. I have not seen the original census microfilm and therefore do not know Sarah's relationship to Barbara HARRIS. I have a hunch that this George HARRIS is a brother of Simeon HARRIS. I would like to hear from any others who are researching the Harris family in Hardy County or elsewhere. Thank you. Re: Louisa PHILLIPS (b. abt. 1849), d/o Jacob and Catherine PHILLIPS. I am seeking information on the descendants and ancestors of Louisa PHILLIPS, d/o Jacob and Catherine PHILLIPS, and her husband, David L. PHILLIPS (b. abt 1848), s/o David and Mahala PHILLIPS. There is a marriage record of David L. PHILLIPS and Louisa PHILLIPS on 9 Sept. 1866 in Tucker County, WV. David's parents are shown in the 1850 and 1860 Barbour County census, living in the Phillipi area. I have not had a chance to check 1870 yet. In 1880, his parents are in Randolph County. One quirk in this matter: I believe that David L. PHILLIPS may also be known as "Tazewell/Taxwell". Regarding Louisa PHILLIPS' parents, her mother, Catherine, b. abt. 1803, is shown in the 1860 Tucker county census as a widow living in the St. George District. Her children listed with her in 1860 are: Susannah, age 19 (b. abt 1841), Jacob W. PHILLIPS, age 18 (b. abt 1842); Arnold B. PHILLIPS, age 15 (b. abt. 1845); Louisa, age 11 (b. abt. 1849) and Mary J., age 8 (b. abt. 1852). In 1870, widow Catherine PHILLIPS is living in Barbour County, in the Glade district, with her son, Jacob, age 26 and his wife, Jane.

In 1860, they are in Barbour County with Tazewell, Lucinda, Jacob, Henry and Hanah). In 1880 they are in Randolph County.
