Timothy R. Stark

Local businessman Timothy Russel Stark of Buckhannon, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Nov. 12, 2009, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Tim Stark didn't live his life in degrees, but rather, gave himself wholly to anything he set his mind to. While it's difficult to define a man who was so multi-faceted in his experiences and abilities, there were few things in life that gave Tim more comfort and satisfaction than his family and his love of the outdoors.

Tim spent his formative years on the West Coast, where he swam miles at a time in the ocean, hunted rattlesnakes with his dogs and camped anywhere he possibly could. He logged redwoods in Oregon, worked on the Alaskan pipeline and rode his favorite horse Rocket, at breakneck speed.

After coming to West Virginia, he began his next great adventure as a farmer, lumber mill foreman, coal miner, Scoutmaster, businessman and steward of the environment. He taught his children animal husbandry, agriculture, farm equipment maintenance, how to make molasses, apple cider, put up hay and ultimately, even build the house that they would live in.

A good friend to many, Tim was always willing to make a difference in the lives of the people he knew and met. He loved being the go-to guy, and his incredible breadth of knowledge on all things practical helped him help others at the drop of a hat.

Tim is survived by his wife Linda Stark; eldest son, Britton Henderson and his wife, Christa; daughter Megan Bennett and her husband, Michael; and son, Dane Stark and his wife, Carrie. He was a beloved grandfather to Kayla and Jolie Henderson, Christopher Leon, Zachary Bennett and Julianna Stark.

In lieu of flowers, Tim and his family request that you do a good turn for your fellow man in his honor. A kind word or deed can change the world of the person who needs it most.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.  From 17 Nov 2009.
