Anita C. Arbogast

Anita Charm Arbogast, 72, a resident of Beverly, passed away at 1:16 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, in Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown.

She was born Jan. 30, 1937, at Cassity, a daughter of the late Nathan Goff and Blanche Ada Smith Wratchford.

On April 3, 1954, she married Robert Lee Arbogast, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, David and wife, Patty Arbogast, Ronald and wife, Juanita Arbogast, and Timothy Arbogast, all of Beverly; two daughters, Cindy Arbogast and Mrs. Jason (Catherine) Lanham of Beverly; one brother, Orvid "Bub" Wratchford of Mill Creek; and two sisters, Lorena Bennett of Beverly and Sally Fischer of Fredericksburg, Va. Also surviving are seven granddaughters, Jacklynn Pudder, Michelle and Amy Arbogast, Alexandria Roberts, Chelsea and Megan Weese and Hailey Lanham.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Raymond Goff Arbogast; one brother, John Quinton Wratchford; and four sisters, Thora Pritt, Marietta Bennett, Clarietta Riffle and Wilda Ruth Wratchford.

Mrs. Arbogast had worked as a nurses aid having retired from Nella's Nursing Home. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of Elkins.

Friends called Sunday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Today, Mrs. Arbogast will be moved to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. Elder Ralph Bennett will officiate and interment will follow in the Hazelwood Cemetery near Beverly.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in care of Bishop Paul David Huffman, P.O. Debra L. Pudder

Debra "Debbie" Lynn Pudder, 50, of Harding, entered into eternal rest Saturday Sept. 19, 2009, at her residence surrounded by family.

She was born Saturday, July 11, 1959, at Elkins, a daughter of Mary Catherine Dulaney Simmons.

Debbie attended school in Randolph County. She loved to play cards and bingo. She was employed as a home health aide with the Randolph County Senior Center in Elkins for 18 years.

On Thursday, May 3, 1975, in Elkins, she married her soul mate Darl Lee Pudder.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Joseph Simmons.

Debbie's survivors include her loving husband: Darl Lee Pudder of Harding; three sons, Benjamin Lee Pudder and wife, Jo-Ann, of Elkins, Christopher Lynn Pudder and wife, Candice, of Dailey and Jeremy Deyon Pudder of Elkton, Va.; one daughter, Tracy Danielle Pudder and friend, Misty Guth, of Elkins; nine grandchildren; four sisters, Catherine Dulane Fasick Higgins and husband, Mike, of Elkins, Laura Jean Simmons Hammonds and husband, Dannie, of East Dailey, Patricia Ann Simmons Harris and husband, Vincent, of Chesapeake, Va., and Brenda Darlene Simmons of Elkins; two brothers, Glen Edward Fasick of Elkins and Emory Silvester Simmons and wife, Pam, of Belington; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at The Randolph Funeral Home, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend. Memorial services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Doyle Rider officiating.

Eva O. Rexroad

Eva O. "Shirley" Rexroad, 90, a resident of Nella's Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in Nella's.

She was born May 15, 1919, at Alton, a daughter of the late Herbert L. and Virgie Loudin Gladwell.

On Nov. 30, 1938, she married the Rev. Roscoe L. Rexroad, who survives.

Also surviving are a nephew, Lynn Rexroad and his wife, Dottie, of Tallmansville; and several other nephews and nieces.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Marie Corley, Olena Lowe, Madeline Cogar and Lovena Hibbs.

She had been a cashier for W.T. Grant Co. and was a Christian by faith.

Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Sue Lowther officiating. Burial will follow in the Floral Hill Memorial Garden at Quiet Dell.

Mary E. Mick

Mary Evelyn Mick, 80, of Burlington, died Sept. 19, 2009, in Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

She was born Aug. 16, 1929, at Ridgely, Md. a daughter of the late Grover M. and Della Wolford Flanagan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Alfred Mick; two brothers, Calvin and Jack Flanagan; one sister, Virginia Sims; and one daughter, Caroline Gopshes.

Survivors include, two sons, Kenneth D. (Shirley) Mick and James (Karla) Mick of Parsons; two daughters, Linda D. (Delmas) Berry of Burlington and Sharon Mick of Stetson, Maine; one sister, Mildred Bonner of Lahmansville; and 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Mary worked on an assembly line in a blind factory for many years. She was a member of the Church of God, and she enjoyed cooking for church dinners, gardening and quilting.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hinkle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Lanesville Bethel Church with the Rev. Ric Lewellen officiating. Interment will follow in Flanagan Memorial Cemetery.

Michael S. Ogden

Michael S. Ogden, 54, of French Creek, died at his home Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.

He was born Feb. 23, 1955, at Bethesda, Md., a son of James "Red" and Ruby Long Ogden of French Creek.

He is survived by one daughter, Abigail Jeffries and husband, David, of French Creek; grandchildren, Ryleigh Kate Jeffries, Jeremiah Benjamin Jeffries, William Nathan Ogden, Lillian Faith Ogden and Lindsey Grace Ogden; one sister, Phyllis Lewis of Texas.

He was preceded in death by one son, Omri Nathan Ogden, who died in May 2009.

Michael was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was a recipient of the Army Commendation Medal.

Friends will be received at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Terry W. Moore

Mr. Terry Wayne Moore, 47, a resident of 526 Wabash Ave. in Belington, departed this life at 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, in United Presbyterian Memorial Hospital Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. He had been in declining health for the past six months, but death was unexpected.

He was born May 19, 1962, at Fairmont, a son of the late Charles Dallas Moore and Lucy Marstiller Moore, who survives at Mannington.

On July 29, 1989, Terry was united in marriage to his soul mate, the former Christine Tusing, who resides at their home in Belington.

Mr. Moore is survived by one grandmother, Lucille Johnson of Belington; one sister, Wanda Tobrey and husband, Mike, of Worthington; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Troy and Mary Tusing of Dartmoor; two sisters-in-law, Debbie Barb and husband, Ginger, of Dartmoor and Beth Tusing and companion, Jason Keyes, of Dartmoor; four nieces, Tonya Brand and husband, Joey, of Fairmont, Jessica Blake and husband, Donnie, of Dartmoor, and Melissa and Amy Barb of Dartmoor; one nephew, Chet Tobrey and wife, Liz, of Fairmont; two great-nieces, Abbie Brand of Fairmont and Destiney Blake of Dartmoor; and three great-nephews, Jarrett Blake of Dartmore, and Cody and Xander Brand of Fairmont. Several aunts and uncles also survive.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Mark Moore.

Mr. Moore graduated from the North Marion High School with the class of 1981 and served in the U.S. Army. Terry was employed by Wal-Mart in Elkins. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Belington, a former member of the Church of the Nazarene of Mannington and was a certified camp counselor for the Church of the Nazarene in the state of West Virginia. He was a former member of the Belington Police Reserve and Belington and Randolph County EMS. Terry was presently a certified referee for the North Central referee board and was a former Jerry West basketball coach. He was a former member of the Junior Improvement Committee, a former Belington city councilman serving from April 1999 to March 2009 and had just been appointed to the Belington Zoning Board of Appeals.

At the request of the deceased, his remains will be cremated. Terry was an organ donor and his gifts have already helped in excess of 100 people. A time of remembrance and memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

Wilma J. Black

Wilma J. Black, 85, a resident of the Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon, passed away Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, in the nursing home.

She was born March 7, 1924, at Buckhannon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Cecil and Daisy Blanche Caynor Wilfong; her two husbands, Raymond Anderson and Orfie Black; a son, Bill Anderson; son-in-law, Lewis Holden; brother, Harry Wilfong; and sister, Ruth Howes.

Surviving are four daughters, Betty Heathcoe and Eddie, her husband, of Buckhannon, Joyce Wamsley and Gary, her husband, of Tallmansville, Carol Holden of Buckhannon and Bobbie Anderson of Charleston; daughter-in-law, Sharon Anderson of Morgantown; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brother, James Wilfong of Buckhannon; and sister, Ruby Heatherly of Newton Falls, Ohio.

Mrs. Black was a nursing assistant, having worked in Buckhannon at the Leonard Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital and was a member of the Buckhannon Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, with Pastor Rick Cutright and Pastor Kingsley Whitsett officiating. Burial will follow in the Bailey Cemetery.

Pauline Grace Long Helmick Carr, 78, a resident of the Dry Fork Community, Hendricks, departed this life late Saturday evening, Sept. 19, 2009, in Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown.

She was born Saturday, May 9, 1931, at Gladwin, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Paul Bunyon Long and Alma Waybright Long Nestor Paugh.

She was twice married, first to Ralph Helmick, who preceded her in death, and second to Lewis Kenneth Carr, who preceded her in death June 12, 2005.

Surviving are one son, Ralph Junior Helmick and wife, Melinda, of Parsons; five brothers, Frank W. Long of Parsons, Lee Long of Hendricks, Robert W. "Bill" Long and wife, Rita, of Parsons, Paul Douglas Long and wife, Virginia, of Hendricks and Dennis "Denny" Long of Ohio; four sisters, Ruby Huffman and husband, Bob, of Dry Fork, Judy Long of Alaska, Trudy Helmick and husband, Rusty, of Hambleton and Nancy Weitzel of Ohio; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were two sons, Lester Helmick and Ronald Lewis Carr; one grandson, Kirk Steven Helmick; and one great-grandson, Austin William Carr.

She attended the schools of Tucker County. She was a cook and a homemaker. She was an active member of the St. John's United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and during her younger years, she loved to hunt. Her most treasured pastime was spending time with her grandchildren.

Ray M. Smith

Ray Milo Smith, 75, a resident of Route 1, Beverly, died at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at his home following a long battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 6, 1934, at Huttonsville, the son of the late Floyd Smith and Gladys Yokum Smith Reda.

On Nov. 12, 1958, he was married to Irene Rossey Smith.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Christopher M. Smith and wife, Emily, of Montrose, Gregory R. Smith and wife, Brenda, of Valley Bend, Steven B. Smith of Beverly and Matthew B. Smith and wife, Andrea, of Valley Bend; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Holly, Brent, Lindsey, Spencer, Nathaniel, Arianna and Preston; great-granddaughter, Summer; a brother, Sidney Smith and wife, Joan, of Arbovale; two sisters, Carole Kyle and husband, Donald of Mill Creek and Janet Williams and husband, Mike, of Eagle, Idaho; mother-in-law, Iva Rossey Marstiller; sisters-in-law, Inetta Gadd and husband, Bill, and Iris Rossi and husband, Sal; brother-in-law, Neil Irons; several nieces and nephews including a close nephew, Mike Gadd; and many friends and neighbors.

In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Joe Reda; and a sister-in-law, Inez Rossey Irons.

Mr. Smith was a miner and retired from the Bethlehem Mines at Century.

Rosie M. Fox

Mrs. Rosie Mabel "Pose" Cutright Fox, 96, a resident of the Elkins Manor, and formerly of Cassity, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, in the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Unit in Elkins.

She was born April 27, 1913, at Blue Rock, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Harmon H. and Birdie Lloyd Cutright.

On March 31, 1934, at Oakland, Md., she was married to the late Harry Richard "Dick" Fox, who preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1985.

She is survived by one son, James Fox and wife, Evalena, of Huttonsville; one daughter, Sue Stanley and husband, William, of Mt. Airy, Md.; and son-in-law, Philip Harris and wife, Kathleen, of Perryopolis, Pa.; seven grandchildren, Tina Barnes, Timothy Stanley, Mark Fox, Joseph and Jeffrey Harris, and Vincent and Chauncey Fox; 14 great-grandchildren, Melissa, Jessica and Andrea Barnes, Benjamin Taylor, Nicholas and Hannah Rose Harris, Isabella and Sophia Harris, Garrett, Whitney and Megan Stanley, Scott Fox, Cash Fox and Isaiah Fox; two half sisters, Vera Hanifan of Barberton, Ohio, and Barbara Tawney of Wadsworth, Ohio; and one half brother, Edward Cutright of Belington. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She will also be remembered by special friends, Eula Currence and Katie Carver.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Merle Keith Fox; one daughter, Patricia Jo Fox Harris; two sisters, Florence Thomason Pingley and Gladys Elmore; one half sister, Dortha Thomason; three brothers, Ernest, Stanley and Basil Cutright; one half brother, Bayard Cutright; and stepmother, Ruth Snyder Cutright Newlon.

Mrs. Fox worked as a cook at the Cassity and Mill Creek elementary schools for several years and was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

Izaiah Marshall Bishop, infant son of Joseph Bishop Jr. and Riki Keener, passed away at birth on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

Also surviving are maternal grandmother, Karen Kight; paternal grandparents, Joseph Bishop Sr. and Wanda Bishop of Harman; paternal great-grandparents, Dwight and Heidi Miller of Rising Sun, Md., and Mary Miller of Havre-De Grace, Md.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Janice E. Phillips

Janice Evonne Bennett Phillips, 54, a resident of the Blackman Flats community, Hambleton, departed this life Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, 2009, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Friday, July 22, 1955, at Baltimore, Md., a daughter of John Bennett, who survives in Pennsylvania and the late Freddie Swanson.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael Collins Jr. and wife, Carrie, of Elkins and Kenneth Lee Phillips Jr. of Hambleton; one daughter, Celena Marie Myers and husband, Aaron, of Hambleton; two sisters, Pamela Short and husband, Ron, and Jackie Jackson and husband, Charles, all of Maryland; two granddaughters, Ashley Paige Lambert and Shayla Brooke Collins of Elkins.

She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1973.

She was a wonderful mother and homemaker. Her two favorite pastimes were fishing and working puzzles.

Charles Bennett II

Charles F. Bennett II, 60, of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1949, at Buckhannon, the son of the late Charles F. and Dorothy Moore Bennett.

On July 11, 1969, he married Margie S. Krebs, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, John D. Bennett of Newark, Ohio; and one daughter, Tracy Bennett of Buckhannon.

Mr. Bennett was a retired clerk in the West Virginia National Guard. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and the Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion.

Friends will be received today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ellis Conley officiating. David E. Arbogast

Mr. David E. Arbogast, 76, a resident of the Laurel View Apartments, and more recently of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington, went home to be with the Lord at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, Sept, 22, 2009, in the center. He had been in declining health for quite sometime.

He was born April 2, 1933, at Junior, a son of the late Leslie H. and Mary Valentine Arbogast.

On Aug. 27, 1955, at Junior, he was united in marriage to the former Martha Ann "Marty" Stalnaker, who resides at their home in Belington.

Mr. Arbogast is survived by one son, Richard Mowbray and wife, Virginia, of Bridgewater, Va.; two brothers, Jack Arbogast and wife, Doris, of Dayton, Va., and Don Arbogast and wife, Mary, of Dayton, Va.; and one sister, Helen Francis Robertson and husband, Byrt, of Uniontown, Ohio. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Crystal Wolfe and husband, Gene, Lee Mowbray and wife, Tosha, Melissa Riley and husband, John, Tammy Thorpe and husband, Dale, David Morris, Robert Morris and Mandy Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Morris; and two brothers, Charles Arbogast and Robert Arbogast.

Mr. Arbogast graduated from Belington High School with the class of 1951 and Glenville State College in 1958 majoring in music. He was a band and choral teacher for Clay County elementary and high school bands and choral teacher in Elkton, Va., and taught at Bridgewater College in Elkton, Va., as a band and choir director.

Dave attended the Westside United Methodist Church and always strived to serve the Lord with his musical talents.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 and again on Saturday until 11 a.m. when final rites will be conducted from the Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Baer Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Junior.

Janice Evonne Bennett Phillips, 54, a resident of the Blackman Flats community, Hambleton, departed this life Tuesday morning, Sept. 22, 2009, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

H. Douglas Preble

H. Douglas Preble, 83, of Timberline, Canaan Valley, died Sept. 24, 2009, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born Nov. 2, 1925, at Lorain, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Henley Preble.

Mr. Preble was a retired petroleum geologist.

He was a member of Buena United Methodist Church, Canaan Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Canaan Valley Zoning, and he enjoyed playing golf.

Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Hinkle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Allen Schwarz officiating.

Interment will follow in the Buena Cemetery.

Leonard Hedrick

Leonard Mitchell "Mitch" Hedrick, 64, of Fairborn, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Sept.17, 2009, in Hospice of Dayton.

He was born Oct. 15, 1944, at Franklin, the son of the late Fred and Verdie Mallow Hedrick.

Mitch served his country in the U.S. Air Force and followed with employment as a body shop manager at White-Allen Chevrolet, retiring after more than 30 years of service.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid outdoorsman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph and Donald.

Survivors include his wife, Nancy; three children, Valorie (Randy) Snouffer of Fairborn, Ohio, Shawn Hedrick of Fairborn, Ohio, Jennifer Hedrick of Vandalia, Ohio; three stepchildren, Nina (Mike) Lybrand of Riverside, Ohio, John (Sandy) Freels of Riverside, Ohio, and Liz Freels of Norton, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Garland and Marvin; three sisters, Theda, Retha and Glenna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Sept. 20 at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Road, Fairborn, Ohio, where a funeral service was conducted Sept. 21 with Pastor Larry Thomas officiating.

Burial with military honors followed in Byron Cemetery.

Stanley F. Lambert

Stanley Fred Lambert, 59, a resident of Elkins, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, 2009.

He was born, June 26, 1950, at Elkins, a son of the late Fred S. Lambert and Ethel V. Lambert Simmons.

On Sept. 12, 2003, he was married to Kimberly Sue Betler-Lambert, who survives.

Also surviving are his loving stepfather, Carl O. Simmons; one son, Bryan Lambert and wife, Jamie, of Centralia, Wash.; and one daughter, Michaela Lambert of Elkins. Brothers and sisters, the Rev. Robert "Bobby" Lambert and wife, Jean, of Goshen, Ind., Dennis Lambert and fiancee, Janice Bodkins, of Elkins, Alan Simmons and wife, Amanda, of Thomas, Patricia "Patty" Palmer and husband, Larry, of Elkins and Shirley Barry and husband, Steve, of Elkins; one grandson, Jordan Lambert; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.

Also preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, Earl and Pearl Kizamore; and his paternal grandparents, Stelman F. Lambert and Laura Lambert.

Stanley was a 30-year member of the U.S. Army having obtained the rank of master sergeant. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Silver Star and the Purple Heart as well as numerous other metals and recognitions for performance and dedication to his country. He was proud of his service as a member of the Army Special Forces during tours of duty. Stanley was a member of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM, Chapter 35 Royal Arch Masons and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the God's Country Hunting Club.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at noon Saturday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert "Bobby" Lambert officiating. Full military rites will be accorded at the funeral home by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Everett L. Leigh

Everett L. "Dick" Leigh, 83, of Buckhannon, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, at his home.

He was born Jan. 1, 1926, at Hemlock, a son of the late Benjamin Harrison and Ethel Jane Zickefoose Leigh.

On June 11, 1948, he married Zana Madeline Butcher, who preceded him in death on April 25, 2005.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Jake and Ted Leigh.

He is survived by two daughters, Judith Stoeckle and husband, Duane, of Buckhannon and Rose Lanham of Utah; four sons, Bob Leigh and wife, Brenda, of Weston, Steve Leigh and wife, Paula, of Buckhannon, Nick Leigh and wife, Betsy, of Buckhannon and Jerry Leigh and wife, Karen, of Buckhannon; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Pete and Davis Leigh, both of Warren, Ohio; and a sister, Leota Tenney of Warren, Ohio.

Mr. Leigh was a well tender and supervisor for Union Drilling. He was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church at Hemlock. He was in the 42nd Cavalry Reconnaissance Troops, Rainbow Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He was an avid hunter, and he loved his garden and was a hard worker.

Friends will be received Sunday, Sept. 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Buckhannon Memorial Park.

Stanley H. Ryan

Mr. Stanley H. Ryan, 84, of Eastlake, Ohio, passed away Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.

He was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Shinnston. He has lived in Eastlake, Ohio, for more than 40 years and Northfield, Ohio, prior to that.

Mr. Ryan was employed as a plumber for the former Plumbing and Heating Services company. He served in the U.S. Navy on supply ships in the South Pacific near the end of World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia (Price) of Eastlake, Ohio; sons John Ryan of Eastlake, Ohio, and Michael Ryan of Mentor, Ohio; grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) of Tampa, Fla., Brandon Bolton, currently serving in Iraq, and Kyle and Nikita, both of Painesville, Ohio; and great grandchildren, Nicolas, Marissa and Nathan. He is also the brother of Hayward, Glenn, William Jr., Jayne, Kenneth, Ronald, Sandra, David, Linda, Wilbur, Richard and the late Thomas.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Ave., Willoughby, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The final resting place will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio.
