Florence Antolini

Florence Mae "Flo" Antolini, 60, a resident of Coalton, passed away early Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, in the Hospice Care Center in Elkins.

She was born July 21, 1949, at Big Rapids, Mich., a daughter of the late Walter and Marie Brink Hylkema. She was married to David Antolini who survives in Coalton.

Also surviving are two sons, David Klager and wife, Kim, of Timberville, Va., Chadwick Newton and wife, Tracy, of Staunton, Va., two daughters, Jo Lynn Simmons and husband, Bill, of Elkins and Rebecca McDonald and husband, Billy, of Parsons. Two brothers, George Hykema, Balboa, Calif., and Bennett Hykema, Dearborn, Mich.; two sisters, Margie Ridenour, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Pauline Becker, Danbury, Conn. Grandchildren, Kayla Simmons, Noah Newton, Alex, Kaitlyn and Trevor Klager, Jordan Seibert, Hannah Davis and Caleb Newton also survive.

Mrs. Antolini was a member of the Parsons Church of God and was employed by Elkins Kmart for 29 years prior to her retirement.

M. Virginia Raines

M. Virginia Raines, 85, of Red Creek died Sept. 5, 2009, in Elkins.

She was born Dec. 6, 1923, at Red Creek, the youngest daughter of the late French Harding and Mary Katherine Keister Raines. She is a descendant of well known Tucker County families. Her paternal grandparents were the late James R. and Martha Cooper Raines. Her maternal grandparents were the late Isaac and Sarah Roby Keister.

Also preceding her in death were one sister, Evelyn R. Cline, and her husband, Glen; one brother, Ralph J. Raines and his wife, Mary Alice; a brother-in-law, James Philip Cutright; and one niece, Nancy Cutright. Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Raines Cutright of Huntington, four nephews, L.A. Cline of Baltimore, Richard G. Cline of Red Creek, Roger D. Raines of Guyton, Ga., James K. Raines of Pittsburgh; two nieces, Linda Eddins and Sue Howland, both of Huntington; four great-nephews and five great-nieces. She is also survived by a cousin, Betty Keister Jones of Elkins who was raised by the Raines family.

Raines received her elementary education at Flanagan Hill School at Red Creek. She graduated from Davis High School with the class of 1940. In 1942, she graduated from the West Virginia Business College in Clarksburg. She lived in Clarksburg for 42 years where she was employed as a secretary at the Hart Brothers Machine Co. and J.C. Hart Foundry Inc. When she retired in 1982, she returned to the family farm at Red Creek where she resided until the time of her death. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarksburg and the Tucker County Senior Citizens.

Friends were received Monday at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis. Funeral services will be held today at the Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church in Red Creek at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John Hedrick and Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Michael Hottinger

Michael H. Hottinger Jr., 30, of Moorefield died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Family received friends Monday at Schaeffer Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Rotruck officiating. Interment will follow in the Whetzel Family Cemetery, Dumpling Run Road, Moorefield.  From 8 Sept 2009.

Vera E. Hornbeck

Vera Elizabeth Hornbeck, 86, of Buckhannon died Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at Colonial Place in Elkins.

She was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Tallmansville, a daughter of the late Dewey A. and Nina Carter Rice.

On Sept. 21, 1945, she married Charles L. Hornbeck who preceded her in death on June 14, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Lairl Rice.

She is survived by one son, Stephen Hornbeck and wife, Carolyn, of Buckhannon; one grandson, Jason Hornbeck of Louisville, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Lois Rice and Lillian Waugh both of Buckhannon and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hornbeck was a former administrative secretary for West Virginia Wesleyan College. She was a Strawberry Festival princess in 1941. She was a member of Chapter 18 Order Eastern Star and served as worthy matron from 1967-1968. She was a former Business and Professional Woman of the Year.

Friends will be received Sept. 9, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Sept. 10, at the funeral home with the Rev. Billy D. Hurst

Billy D. Hurst, 78, of Buckhannon, died Friday, Sept. 4, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born June 8, 1931, in Upshur County, a son of the late John R. and Zeta Loudin Hurst. He was united in marriage June 6, 1970, to Nelva June Hurst, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Ron and wife, Kay Hurst, of French Creek, Randy and wife, Cindy Hurst, of Buckhannon and Douglas D. and wife, Cindy Hurst, of Buckhannon; two step-daughters, Sharon and husband, Danny Warren, of Newport News, Va., and Donna Gould of Weston; 10 grandchildren and five great- grandchildren; two brothers, Robert D. Hurst of Buckhannon and John O. Hurst of French Creek; one sister, Sis Burr of French Creek. He is also survived by his first wife, Linda Sue Hurst of Buckhannon, and his former son-in-law, Rick Gould of Horner. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Anthony Hurst and one sister, Emma Jean Elmer.

Billy Hurst formerly owned Hurst Homebuilders. At the request of the deceased, the body was cremated. Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel with Pastor J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Kenneth Burnner

Kenneth Francis Bunner, 75, of Winston-Salem, N.C. and formerly of Upshur County, went to be with the lord, Sept. 6, 2009.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Margie Bunner. He was the loving father of Kenneth Robert "Bobby", Keith Wayne, Lori Lynn and Larry Alan Bunner. He is also survived by one brother, Paul and wife, Susan Bunner; four sisters, Janice Powell, Joann and husband, Richard Malcomb, Jeannett and husband, James Easton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Alma Bunner; brothers, James and Robert Bunner; and sister, Jean.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Pleasant Dale Church. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Dale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ken's name to the Pleasant Dale Church.

Pauline S. Bogert

Pauline S. Bogert, 94, of Buckhannon died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

She was born July 17, 1915, in Arden, a daughter of the late Andy and Lora Duckworth Shanabarger.

On December 24, 1934, she married Raymond K. Bogert Jr. who preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1999.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Sue Abbott and infant daughter, Carolyn Ann Bogert and one son, Raymond K. Bogert III.

She is survived by one son, Roland M. Bogert of Buckhannon; six granddaughters, Amy Shealy and husband, Jim, of Lexington, S.C., Kim Trittenwein and husband, Oliver, of San Antonio, Texas, Merribeth Butler and husband, Trey, of Charlotte, N.C., Martha Ann Bogert of Brooklyn, N.Y., Stacy Lynn Bogert of Sarasota, Fla., and Mary Ellen Calhoun of Orlando, Fla.; one grandson, Charles L. Bogert of Kansas City, Kan.; and six great-grandchildren, Kaitin and Betsy Shealy, Bella and Grace Trittenwein, Clay Butler and Bryce Ann Bogert.

Pauline Bogert was a homemaker and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. She attended Alderson-Broaddus College and Fairmont State College and taught in Barbour County schools for five years.

Philip Harry Doerle, 90, of Canaan Valley passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at his home.

Samuel Naskey Jr.

Samuel James Naskey Jr., 100, of Adrian died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Serenity Care Home.

He was born March 7, 1909, in Jeanette, Pa., a son of the late Samuel James Naskey Sr. and Ella Ebnether Naskey. He was united in marriage June 14, 1930, to Mary Rose Kerere Naskey who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one sister.

He is survived by one son, Frank E. Naskey and wife, Katy, of Gallipolis, Ohio, and daughter, Lois "Diane" Hyre and husband, Darell, of Adrian; five grandchildren, Kim Canaday, Rebecca Rothgeb and Lori Young of Gallipolis, Ohio, Denise D. Hyre-Fournier of Aviano, Italy, and Daniel W. Hyre of Adrian; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He worked for Beckwith Machinery Co. and retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was the first fire chief of the Adrian Volunteer Fire Department, charter member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598 and the first president of the Central Upshur Lions Club.

He was an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and a No. 1 fan of the WVU Mountaineer Football team and Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a Catholic by faith.

Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. Elma F. Weese

recently a resident of Jefferson City, Tenn., departed this life Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Lifecare of Jefferson City.

She was born Thursday, March 5, 1914, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Walter Cleveland Grimes and Cecil Elma McCartney Grimes.

On June 23, 1935, she was married to Arthur Dewey Weese, who preceded her in death on April 14, 1965.

Surviving are two sons, Garry Arthur Weese and wife, Edith, Dunkirk, Md., and Jerry Grimes Weese and wife, Shirley, Lanham, Md.; one daughter, Sharon Weese Adams and husband, Philip, Knoxville, Tenn.; two sisters, Juanita Hawley, Bridgewater, Va., and Elwanda Setar, Chicago, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; four nieces; and four nephews.

She was a graduate of Elkins High School and Davis & Elkins College and had worked as finance director for PICA. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church at Charlotte, N.C.

A graveside service will be on Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at 1 p.m., at Maplewood Cemetery in Elkins. Philip Adams will officiate and interment will follow. Rosalie Bennett

Rosalie Bennett, 72, of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

She was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Ralph R. and Della Tenney Wamsley.

On Dec. 31, 1986, she married Ronald L. Bennett, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Mark Joseph of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Michelle Shearer and husband, David, of Wheeling and Lisa Parsons of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Joseph Umble of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Chelsey Umble and Winter and Azinia Parsons, all of Buckhannon; one brother, Ronsdale Wamsley of Buckhannon; and two sisters, Varna Evans and Angeline Kittle, both of Buckhannon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl W. Joseph; one daughter, Marsha L. Joseph; three brothers, Winston, Leonard and Lloyd Wamsley; three sisters, Juandina Simmons, Lacy Mildred Wamsley and Margeory Stanton.

Curtis L. Evans Jr.

Curtis Lee Evans Jr., 60, a resident of Marganza South, Laurel, Md., departed this life Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.

He was born Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1948, at Louisa, Ky., a son of Curtis Lee Evans Sr. and Katherine Marie Copley Evans, who survive at Fort Gay.

On Feb. 14, 1975, he was married to the former Sarah Currence, daughter of Numer and Ruby Currence of Elkins, who survives at Laurel, Md.

Also surviving are two sons, Frank S. Evans and wife, Jewl, of Pasadena, Md., and David W. King of Laurel, Md.; two daughters, Nancy C. Napier of Wayne and Katherine M. McKenzie and husband, Ed, of Glen Burnie, Md; one brother, James Evans and wife, Christine, of Fort Gay; two sisters, Betty Frasher and husband, Randall, of Fort Gay and Christine Evans of Bunker Hill; and seven grandchildren, Cody and Savanna Napier, Tyler and Zachary McKenzi, Alex and Staci Evans and Sarah King.

He had worked at the U.S. Soldiers and Airmen's Home for a number of years, later transferring to NASA at Greenbelt, Md., where he completed 40 years of federal service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church at Silver Spring, Md., and more recently the Lighthouse Baptist Church at Pasadena, Md. He was a member and past master of the Birmingham Masonic Lodge 188, Greenbelt, Md.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to noon, the funeral hour. Pastor Arcand III will officiate and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins. Donald R. Nestor

Donald Ray "Toot" Nestor, 72, a resident of the Clover Run community of Tucker County, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2009, at his home.

He was born Monday, May 3, 1937, at Cool Springs Park, Preston County, a son of the late Glenn Nestor and Josephine Eva Helmick Nestor Phillips. On April 5, 1958, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Catherine L. "Kay" Keister, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald Roy Nestor and wife, Patsy, of Elkins, Jeffery Lane Nestor and wife, Wendy, of Maryland; four daughters, Pamela Jo Waugh and husband, James, of Clover Run, Mary Alice Knotts and husband, Craig, of Martinsburg, Teresa Diane Surock and husband, Eric, of Mt. Claire, and Nancy Ann Simpson and husband, Thomas, of Clover Run; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Waugh, Mindy Winston, Kimberly Knotts, Travis Nestor, Daniel Simpson, Josh Hedrick, Brandon Nestor, Gracie Nestor, Erin Paige Nestor and Kylie Dawn Nestor; one great-grandson, Hunter Winston; and two step grandchildren, Krista Collman and Adam Simpson.

He was preceded in death by one son, Kelly Ray Nestor, on April 9, 2009; one brother, Ronald Glenn Nestor; and one step brother, Phillip Wayne Phillips.

He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force from November 1953 until July 1957. He was an employee of the former Frazee Lumber Co. He was a former employee of L.C. Coal Co. of Kingwood. He helped build the first smoke stacks at the Mt. Storm Power Plant. He worked for Roscoe Nestor and he was an employee of Buffalo Coal for 25 years, retiring in 2004.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m.. The Rev. Gary H. Lytle

Gary H. "Turtle" Lytle, 41, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday morning, Sept. 9, 2009, in the Davis Memorial Emergency Department.

He was born Jan. 15, 1968, at Elkins a son of the late George E. Lytle and Janet White Lytle who survives in Elkins. Also surviving is a sister, Carolene Lytle, Elkins; aunt and uncle, Ed and Julia Varner, Elkins; special friends, Chad Arbogast and Terry Seibert; and friends from the Riverside and the Frosty Mug.

Gary attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Veteran of the Army National Guard. He had been employed as a carpenter.

Guylow R. Snyder

Guylow R. Snyder, 90, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Sept.9, 2009, at Crestview Manor Jane Lew.

She was born July 19, 1919, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Dema Jack.

On June 1, 1974, she married Arden J. Snyder who preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1990. Mrs. Snyder is survived by her cousin, Donna Lee and husband, James, of Buckhannon and several other cousins.

She was a seamstress and a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church, Rebekah Lodge and WSCS.

Friends will be received Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sand Run Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Johnathon Garrett Arbuthnot, infant son of Shawn Pennington and Christina Arbuthnot of Elkins, passed away Monday evening, Sept. 7, 2009, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

Also surviving Johnathon are two sisters, Zora Lynn Pennington and Brandy Lanning; grandparents, Carman and Terri Pennington and Missy Rowan and Danny Morgan; great grandmother, Vicki McIntyre; great-great-grandfather, Alexander Arbuthnot; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ronald D. Tingler

Ronald David Tingler, 62, a resident of Wymer, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 9, 2009, at Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health since becoming disabled in 1996.

He was born Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1946, at Elkins, a son of the late Fred Tingler and Florney Lambert Tingler. He was married to the former Joyce Mallow, who survives. Also surviving are one son, David Tingler of Maryland and wife, Kyndra, Fairmont; one brother, Freddie Tingler of Bowden; and two grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are one brother, Verledo Frederick Tingler and two sisters, Nioka Tingler and Loma Long.

He attended the schools of Bowden and Elkins High School. He had worked as a union welder; attended the Bowden Assembly of God; was an avid outdoorsman; and a Harley-Davidson enthusiast.

The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Sunday, Sept. 13, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Rosalie Bennett

Rosalie Bennett, 72, of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

She was born Feb. 28, 1937, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Ralph R. and Della Tenney Wamsley.

On Dec. 31, 1986, she married Ronald L. Bennett, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Mark Joseph of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Michelle Shearer and husband, David, of Wheeling and Lisa Parsons of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Nathaniel and Joseph Umble of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Chelsey Umble and Winter and Azinia Parsons, all of Buckhannon; one brother Ronsdale Wamsley of Buckhannon; and two sisters, Varna Evans and Angeline Kittle, both of Buckhannon.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earl W. Joseph; one daughter, Marsha L. Joseph; three brothers, Winston, Leonard and Lloyd Wamsley; three sisters, Juandina Simmons, Lacy Mildred Wamsley and Margeory Stanton.

Sandra L. Durst

Sandra Lea Durst, 51, of Montrose, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins surrounded by her family.

She was born Wednesday, Nov. 6, 1957, in Winchester, Va., a daughter of Kenneth Earl and Mary Louise Clark Jenkins.

She attended schools in the Winchester, Va., area. Sandra was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking and collecting cookbooks. She attended Assembly of God Church in Hayfield, Va. Sandra moved to West Virginia in 2001.

On Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, in Winchester, Va., she married Gregory E. Durst, who survives in Montrose.

She was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, David Durst.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Mary Jenkins of Winchester, Va.; one daughter, Tracey Sbandi and husband, John, of Winchester, Va.; one son, Bobbie McMullen of Winchester, Va.; one sister, Sherry Jenkins of Sterling, Va.; one brother, Kenneth Jenkins and wife, Lynn, of Hayfield, Va.; two granddaughters, Alicia Sbandi, 9, and Hannah Sbandi, 6, both of Winchester, Va; mother-in-law, Nancy Durst of Montrose; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Durst and wife, Kathy, of Akron, Ohio, and Kevin Durst and wife, Suetta, of Belington; and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Sandra's wishes, her body will be cremated. Private graveside services will be held at the family cemetery in Hayfield, Va.

Edna D. Newsom

Edna Daniels Newsom, 97, of Colonial Heights, Va., died Friday, Sept. 11, 2009.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1912, in Elkins.

She was the daughter of the late John Stark and Amy Pritt Hinchman. She was a 1959 graduate of the Petersburg General Hospital School of Practical Nursing, passed the Virginia State Board Exam and became a licensed practical nurse that same year. She was employed by the Petersburg General Hospital until she retired. Newsom was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church and later the Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church.

Newsom was preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo Newsom, and her first husband, Harold B. Daniels; three brothers, Leslie L. Hinchman, Cecil S. Hinchman and Winfred H. Hinchman; three sisters, Eva E. Hinchman, Velma A. Hinchman and Gertrude H. Eskew; one son, Arthur B. Daniels; two grandsons, Timothy B. Heckel and Arthur B. Daniels Jr.; and one great-granddaughter, Christie A. Heckel.

Survivors include two sisters, Virginia H. Chenoweth and Ruby H. Kerns, both of Elkins; two daughters, Winifred D. Heckel and husband, Richard, and Vivian D. Laderach and husband, Ralph, all of Colonial Heights; one son, Ralph R. Daniels and wife, Lillian, of Cartersville, Va.; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gary H. "Turtle" Lytle, 41, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2009, in the Davis Memorial emergency department.

Lynn R. Channell

Retired Lt. Col. Lynn Richard Channell, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at 5:30 a.m.

Channell was born on June 2, 1920, to Ignatius Humboldt Channell and Estaline Hammond Channell in Huttonsville.

He graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1937 and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force in the Pacific as a member of the 54th Troop Carrier Wing, 5th Air Force, where he was stationed in Australia, New Guinea, Philippines, Okinawa and Atsugi, Japan. He was honorably discharged in late 1945 as a tech sergeant. After the war, he attended West Virginia University where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1950.

In late 1950, at the start of the Korean Conflict, he joined the U.S. Air Force as an officer. He served in the Air Force as a bio-environmental engineer until his retirement in 1978 as a lieutenant colonel. He was stationed in Massachusetts, France, Alaska, California and the Philippines. While in the service, he graduated with a master's from John Hopkins University.

On June 8, 1953, Lt. Lynn Channell married Lt. Kathryn Mehalick in Chateauroux, France. They had three sons.

In 1978, Lynn Channell retired from the Air Force to the family home in Huttonsville, the house in which he was born. He was an active member of the community serving as mayor of Huttonsville and as chairman of the board of the Huttonsville Public Service District. In 2007, the PSD honored Lynn Channell by naming their administrative office building in Mill Creek after him. He was a member at large of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge 14000 and was a member of H.W, Daniels Post 29 American Legion.

Surviving is his wife, Kathryn Mehalick Channell of Camarillo, Calif.; his sons Jeff Channell of San Diego, Calif., Charles Channell of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Scott Channell of Westchester, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Pfost of Dunedin, Fla., Majel Palandech of Rolling Hills Estates, Calif., and Helen Nichols of Summersville; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, William "Nick" and Bonn.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, Sept. 14, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. At noon, Lynn Channell will be moved to the Brick Church Cemetery where a graveside service will be held. The Rev. Bernard Teter will officiate and interment will follow. Troy C. White

Troy C. White, 68, a resident of Harman, passed away early Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 in the Davis Memorial emergency department.

He was born on May 9, 1941, at Dryfork, a son of the late John White and the late Bertha Kisamore White.

On July 5, 1967, he was married to Ellen VanDevender White, who survives at Harman.

Also surviving are two sons, Greg White and Danica and Darryl White and Savannah Hoffman, all of Harman; five brothers, Howard Kisamore of NorthCarolina, Johnnie White of Singers Glen, Va., Ernest White of Thomas, Ronald White of Ohio and Jerry White of Elkins; four sisters, Doris Morral and Jean White of Red Creek, Donna VanDevender of Montrose and Sylvia Daniels of Elkins; one stepgranddaughter, Alexis Cooper; a granddaughter soon to be born named Abigail; a special nephew, Samuel Blizzard; and his best friends, Harley and Louie.

Troy White was a graduate of Harman High School with the class of 1959. He was employed as a mechanic with Midway Motors at Harman for more than 28 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Harman Fire Department for 33 years where he was a former vice president of the department and was selected as Firefighter of the Year in 1989.

Friends may call from 5 a.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Sunday, Sept. 13, he will be moved to the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church at Dryfork for visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Grey Hinkle and the Rev. Rick Lewellen will officiate. Fireman's honors will be accorded and interment will follow in the VanDevender Cemetery near Harman.
