Alice J. Allen

Alice J. Allen, 71, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, after an extended illness.

One of four sisters, she was born in West Virginia but became a lifelong resident of Wichita, Kan. After working for 28 years, she retired from Beech/Raytheon Aircraft.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Reta Mae Cowgar and Nan D. Haivala, both of Wichita.

She is survived by one sister, Rose M. Salesky of West Virginia. Also surviving are primary caretakers nephew, Chuck (Lindie) Haivala along with many other nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Resthaven Mortuary. A private funeral service will follow.   From 31 Aug 2009. 

Darrell Bennett

Darrell Bennett, 68, of Dodson Run Road, Beverly, entered into eternal rest Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, in Hospice Care Center in Elkins.

In keeping with Darrell's wishes, he will be honored with a fireman's funeral. The funeral procession will leave The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend at 10:30 a.m. today en route to Beverly Cemetery in Beverly where graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Marshall Williams officiating.

Edna E. Chaney

Edna E. Chaney, 90, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born Sept. 20, 1918, at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Rufus C. and Bessie Newhouse Swecker.

On May 5, 1941, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Mervin Ray Chaney Sr., who preceded her in death on March 11, 1989.

Surviving are two sons, Ray Chaney and wife, Sharon, of Mill Creek and Richard "Dick" Chaney, with whom Mrs. Chaney recently lived, of Mill Creek; and one daughter, Kay Dunn and husband, Dr. Wayne Dunn, of Mineral Wells. One brother, Orville Swecker of Huttonsville; one sister, Dolly Mae Cromer of Ohio, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Also preceding her in death were one infant daughter, Sandra Arlene Chaney; two brothers, Charles and Dewey Swecker; and one sister, Virginia Eye.

Mrs. Chaney was a graduate of Tygart Valley High School and was employed as a teacher's aide in the Head Start Program at George Ward Elementary School and Pickens School prior to her retirement. She was an active member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and served as a volunteer at Tyrand Parish. She was an avid gardner with a special love for her roses and other flowers. She also had a passion for baking and cooking, with her family, friends and neighbors as happy recipients.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Wednesday, Sept. 2, she will be moved to the Mill Creek United Methodist Church for visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Bonnie Starkey and the Rev. Verl Simmons will officiate and interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery.

Lowell T. Paugh

Lowell Todd Paugh, 71, of Gettysburg, Pa., passed away Aug. 28, 2009, in Gettysburg Hospital.

He was born Jan. 4, 1938, at Douglas, a son of the late Robert Cecil Paugh and Mary Leanna Roby Paugh, who survives at Thomas.

Also surviving are his wife, Lillian Rhodes Paugh of Gettysburg, Pa.; one sister Dorothy Hull of Davis; one brother, Robert Paugh of Ocala, Fla.; two stepsons; nieces, Diane Perica of Portland, Ohio, and Donna Mason of Parsons; nephews, James Hull and Robbie Hull of Davis, Rich Hull of Parsons, Steve Hull of St. George and Bobby Paugh of Rochester Hill, Mich.; and an aunt, Lucy Reed of Florida.

Mr. Paugh was a retired heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed camping, boating and snowmobiling.

Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Hinkle Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jim Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mason Howard Hart, 96, a resident of Beverly, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 30, 2009. at his residence.

Bobbie R. Reed

Bobbie Roy "Cob" Reed, 73, of the Tenmile Community, Tallmansville, passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at his home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1936, in Upshur County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry E. and Frances Koon Reed; a sister, Mildred Blagg; and three brothers, Carl, Junior and Larry Reed.

He is survived by five children, Gregory Reed of Heavner Grove, Buckhannon, Teresa Bender and Eddy, her husband, of Adrian, Bradley Reed and Tracy, his wife, of Heavner Grove, Wendy McDaniel and William, her husband, of Buckhannon and Amber Reed of Heavner Grove; three grandchildren, Joseph Bender, Julia Reed and Kaylia Reed; one sister, Jean Ward of Pennsylvania; and six brothers, Harold Reed and Leona, his wife, of Buckhannon, Donald Reed and Mary, his wife, of Tenmile, Jerry Reed and Loretta, his wife, of Tallmansville, Charles Reed and Betty, his wife, of French Creek, Bill Reed and Barbara, his wife, of Lorentz and Tom Reed of Buckhannon.

Mr. Reed was a heavy equipment operator and had retired from Breckenridge Corp. of Buckhannon and was a member of the Flat Rock Hunting Club of Tenmile. He enjoyed playing volleyball, fishing, hunting and riding ATVs.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, with the Rev. Junior Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery.

Ernest O. Tenney

Ernest Okie Tenney, 69, of French Creek, died Monday, Aug.31, 2009, at his home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1940, at Alton, a son of the late Clarence and Lessie Westfall Tenney.

On Nov. 21, 1972, he married Myrtle Tenney, who preceded him in death.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert "Butch" Tenney; and one sister, Vonnie "Bib" Burr.

He is survived by one son, Hank Tenney and wife, Melissa Smith Tenney, of French Creek; three grandsons, Hakan Tenney and John Corley II and Tristan Corley, all of French Creek; four granddaughters, Hannah Tenney of Buckhannon, Cher Corley of Moorefield and Leslee Corley and Mikki Merriman and husband, Mark, all of Buckhannon; one great-grandson, Hunter Merriman of Buckhannon; four brothers, Garnett "Buck" Tenney of Sago, Roger "Peanut" Tenney and wife, Kay, of Selbyville, Delbert Tenney and wife, Mary, of Union and Vacel Tenney of Warren, Ohio; three sisters, Diane McCartney and husband, Richard, of Big Bend, Stella Virginia "Cubie" Black and husband, Lawrence, of Mt. Carmel and Lora Hamner of Tallmansville; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tenney worked for the street department in Buckhannon.

Friends will be received Friday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Church Cemetery in Sago.

Joshua A. Jones

Joshua Allen Jones, 25, of Buckhannon, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at his home.

He was born Dec. 21, 1983. He was the son of Betty Jean Jones and the brother of Jade Amber Jones. He was the best at being both.

His love and angel was his best friend and soul mate, Joanie Hutchins. He was the grandson of the late Jack and Betty Jones. He is survived by two aunts, Brenda Kay Jones of Buckhannon, Jackie Ann Nido of Ohio. He is survived by several cousins. Josh had many good friends, who were there with him through his rough time. I know he wasn't the perfect person, but he had a heart of gold. He always tried to help those in need. Josh was loved and he will be missed. "The love we had for him will never fade away," mommy and sister.

In addition to his grandparents, he was also preceded in death by one aunt, Tammy Samples Cutright.

At the request of the family, the body will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. Family and friends will speak at 5 p.m.

Mason H. Hart

Mason Howard Hart, 96, a resident of Beverly, passed away Sunday evening, Aug. 30, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 21, 1913, at Mabie, a son of the late Howard Morton Hart and Sarah Florence Suiter Hart.

On Jan. 10, 1940, at Monterey, Va., he was married to the former Betty Cromwell Gibbons Hart, who preceded him in death Dec. 14, 1995.

Surviving are one son, John Fredrick Hart of Beverly; and three daughters, Rebecca Daniels and husband, Ron, of Dailey, Sally Pingley and husband, Larry, of Farmdale, Ohio, and Mary Anne Johnson and husband, Johnny, of Jacksonville, Fla. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Charles and Blair Hart.

Mr. Hart was a graduate of Beverly High School. He was a molder operator for many years with Labcraft prior to his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Beverly Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Dailey Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Methodist by faith and attended the Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Fireman's honors will be accorded with interment following in the Beverly Cemetery.

Sylvanus Stalnaker 

Sylvanus Coburn "Steve" Stalnaker, 87, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, in the Louis A. Johnson V.A. Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 23, 1921, at Philippi, a son of the late Creed Christopher Stalnaker and the late Tacy (Phillips) Stalnaker Hayes.

On June 21, 1975, he married the former Martha Alice Stemple, who survives at Buckhannon.

Also surviving are one son, Steven Michael "Mike" Stalnaker of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Winfred Stalnaker; and by one sister, Madeline Dixon.

Mr. Stalnaker was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army and received the Eastern European Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars, the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Stalnaker retired as an automotive mechanic and was a former employee of Cochran Motors in Buckhannon. He was a life member of Buckhannon Post 3663, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St. in Philippi. The Rev. William Smith will officiate and interment will follow in the Cross Roads Cemetery, where Barbour County Post 4, American Legion will confer military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour on Thursday.

Adam C. Bennett

Adam C. "Tune" Bennett, 83, of Port Deposit, Md., died Aug. 19, 2009.

He was born Feb. 6, 1926, at Beverly, a son of the late Gordon Dayton and Clara Howell Bennett and the late Flossie Bennett.

Interment was in Hopewell Cemetery in Perryville, Md.

Betty Anita Gum, 75, of Valley Head, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, surrounded by family.

Dwain Farnsworth

Dwain A. Farnsworth, 45, of the Tennerton Community, Buckhannon, passed away on Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon.

He was born Sept. 11, 1963, at Buckhannon, a son of Robert and Yvonne Cornell Farnsworth of Tennerton.

Also surviving are his wife, Judy Farnsworth; and two stepdaughters, Carla Bess and her son, Jaden, of Montgomery and Crista Bess and her daughter, Ivy Marie Whitten, of Nashville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jewell Page.

Dwain was a truck driver for Hull Contracting of Buckhannon.

Joseph F. Streets

Joseph F. Streets, 38, a resident of East Dailey, passed away Dec. 22, 2008.

He was born Dec. 31, 1969, at Fairmont.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth R. Streets Sr. and eldest brother, Kenneth R. Streets Jr.

He is survived by his mother, Opal Fluharty Streets; sister, Rhonda K. Streets; his children, Joshua David Streets, Alexandrea Nank Streets and Samantha Nank Streets; nieces, Mindy Leary and Tara Leary; and nephews, Jacob and Zachary Wimer. Also surviving him are his close cousins, Junior Biller, Tena Howell, Twila Biller and Mary Mick.

Marlin K. Tiano

Marlin Kirk Tiano, 84, of Easton, Ohio, passed away Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, in Barberton Citizens Hospital.

He was born Feb. 17, 1925, at Junior , the son of Franklin and Zona Newlon Tiano.

He married Irene Stump Tiano on June 13, 1955, and she died March 15, 2009.

He served his country in the U.S. Army for 3 1/2 years during World War II.

In his working career he was a 35-year dedicated employee as a machinist for U.S. Carbide and Tool, out of Cleveland.

He enjoyed working outside in the yard and took great pride in his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin "Bud" Tiano Jr.; and sister, Georgia Willahmine Helli.

He is survived by sons, Anthony Tiano of Easton, Ohio, and William (Jennifer) Tiano of Wooster, Ohio; and grandchildren, Carlin, Joshua and Mariah; stepson, Robert (Bonnie) Nice of Doylestown, Ohio.

Arrangements are being handled by Zak Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, Ohio 44230.

A graveside service will take place Thursday, Sept. 3, at 11 a.m. at Easton Union Cemetery with Pastor Nick Cleveland officiating.  From 2 Sept 2009.

Patrick K. Scott

Patrick Kalman Scott, 59, a resident of Central Street, Elkins, departed this life Monday morning, Aug. 31, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital, following a chronic illness.

He was born Thursday, June 8, 1950, at Elkins, a son of the late Harry R. Scott and Lorraine Carder Scott.

On March 23, 1989, at Elkins, he was married to the former Virginia "Ginger" Collett, a nurse for Select In Home Service, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Chad Matthew Scott of Elkins; one stepdaughter, Lara Bista of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Susan S. Barb and husband, David, of Glenmore, Lisa Scott-Hagge and husband, Roland, of Oakland, Md., and Mary Beth ScottCalor and husband, Alex, of New Martinsville; and five grandchildren, Jessica, Brandon, Hunter and Devin Scott and Neil Bista.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Michael Jeffrey and Kevin Mark Scott; and one sister, Barrie Joan Scott.

He attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1968. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Navy on the USS Okinawa. He had worked at Davis Memorial Hospital for 35 years as a lab technologist.

Mr. Scott's request for cremation was honored. The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at which time a memorial service will be conducted with the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs VF as the presider. H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion will present the American flag.

Philip H. Doerle

Philip Harry Doerle, 90, of Canaan Valley, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2009, at his residence.

He was born March 1, 1919, at Philadelphia, Pa., a son of the late Philip Harry Doerle and Constance Partello

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy R. Doerle of Canaan Valley; one son Bruce C. Doerle of Orlando, Fla.; and one daughter, Phyllis Guinta of Honeybrook, Pa.

Mr. Doerle was a retired insurance examiner. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years and was a U.S. Army veteran of who served in World War II.

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 10, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Allen Schwarz will officiate. At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated.

Arlie J. Judy

Arlie Junior Judy, 65, of Fisher, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at his home.

Barbara Arbogast

Barbara Lee Arbogast, 65, of Dunmore, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009, in Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.

Born Feb. 29, 1944, at Dunmore, she was a daughter of the late Corbett W. and Opal Jones Arbogast.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Brock.

Barbara was a lifelong resident of Dunmore, of the Methodist faith and a homemaker.

She is survived by two brothers, Ronnie W. Arbogast of Dunmore and James C. Arbogast and wife, Pamela, of Omaha, Neb.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with the Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Interment will be in Arbovale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Betty A. Gum

Betty Anita King Gum,75, of Valley Head, entered into eternal life Tuesday Sept. 1, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins, surrounded by family.

She was born Thursday, Oct. 5, 1933, at Washington, D.C., in the Old Sibly Hospital, a daughter of the late William E. and Elsie C. King.

She had been employed by Suburban Trust Bank in Silver Springs, Md., before returning to West Virginia in the late 1970s. She was employed at D & R Trucking at Valley Head and retired from Snowshoe Mountain Resort at Snowshoe. Betty was a member of the Valley Head United Methodist Church at Valley Head where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. She was an avid Redskins fan. She enjoyed working her puzzle books and traveling with her beloved dog, Prissy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie Jean Stanley; and one brother, William E King Jr.

Betty's survivors include one son, Charles "Chuck" Stanley of Valley Head; two brothers, Rufus "Kent" King of Clearwater, Fla., and Arnold W. King of Hagerstown, Md.; three sisters, Audrey Shorter of Annapolis, Md., Shirley Martin of Eltan, Va., and Barbara J. "Genny" Brenner of Ocala, Fla.; one granddaughter, Bobbie Sue Queen of Bartow; one grandson, Charles "Rusty" Stanley of Valley Head; great-grandchildren: Kenny, Matt and Delilah Queen and Michael Cool, all of Bartow, Ethan and Sara Maxwell and Katelyn Stanley and Dylan Cool, all of Valley Head; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 100 Meadow Lane, Valley Bend. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Valley Head United Methodist Church in Valley Head with the Rev. Ann Fretwell and the Rev. Eddie Kyle officiating. Burial will follow in Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head.

Michelle L. Parker

Michelle Lynn Sharp Parker, 22, a resident of Parsons, and more recently a resident of Waynesboro, Va., departed this life Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at her home following a short illness.

She was born Thursday, Jan. 22, 1987, at Elkins, a daughter of Eddie and Debra Lycliter Sharp of Waynesboro, Va.

On Aug. 23, 2003, at Waynesboro, Va., she was married to James R. Parker, who survives at Waynesboro, Va.

Also surviving are one daughter, Faith Nicole Parker, 7; one son, James R. Parker Jr., 2 1/2; one brother, Eddie V. Sharp III of Waynesboro, Va.; her paternal grandparents, Larry and Marsha Smith Mick of Elkins; her maternal grandparents, Donald and Linda "Nanny" Huffman Lycliter of Parsons; and several aunts and uncles.

She was preceded in death by her granddad, Eddie V. Sharp Sr.

She attended Stuarts Draft High School in Virginia. She was a sales clerk and a homemaker. She attended the Hambleton Pentecostal Church at Hambleton and the Cross Roads Baptist Church in Virginia.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday, Sept. 4, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate and interment will follow in the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.

Patrick Kalman Scott, 59, a resident of Central Street, Elkins, departed this life Monday morning, Aug. 31, 2009, in Davis Memorial Hospital, following a chronic illness.

Mr. Scott's request for cremation was honored. Betty S. Ferguson

Betty Swick Ferguson, 74, of Bedford, Va., passed away Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, in Bedford Memorial Hospital.

She was born on Thursday, April 18, 1935, at Belington, a daughter of the late Sylvester Swick and Pearl Browning Swick.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Omar Ferguson Sr.; and a son, Charles Omar Ferguson Jr.

She is survived by her two sons, James E. Ferguson and Joseph A. Ferguson, both of Bedford, Va.; three daughters, Sherry Lynn Fitzgerald of Coleman Falls, Va., Cindy Joyce Davis of Bedford, Va., and Dawn Marie Ferguson of Florida; a sister, Anna Wolf of Philippi; and 20 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Bedford, Va., with the Rev. Chris Dowd and Chris Ashman officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Cynthia J. Warner

Cynthia Jane Warner, 81, of Cherry Grove, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009. at her residence.

Mrs. Warner was born at Circleville on Nov. 23, 1927, the daughter of the late Pinkney Jones and Cora Ann Cook Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvil William Warner, on April 5, 1995.

Cynthia attended Teter Gap Elementary School, was a mother and homemaker and a member of Circleville Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Warner is survived by two daughters, Teresa L. Mauzy and husband, John, of Churchville, Va., and Lois Ann Warner of Cherry Grove; four sons, Charles Warner and friend, Teresa, of Franklin, Allen Warner and wife, Karen, of Cherry Grove, Frank Warner and friend, Brenda, of Caldwell and Carl Warner and wife, Caron, of Circleville; a sister, Mary Wilfong of Roanoke, Va.; and 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Cynthia was preceded in death by a son, Danny; and nine brothers, John, George, Paul, Pinkney Jr., Hansel, Jacob, Glenn, Hayden Nelson and Bill Cook.

Family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Pastor Sam Harper will conduct funeral services Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Circleville Presbyterian Church in Circleville. Interment will be in North Fork Memorial Cemetery at Riverton.

Rachel Newman

Rachel Lyvon (Smith) Waugaman Newman, 66, a former resident of Rohrbough Street in Belington, died Thursday, Sept. 3, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown following an extended illness.

She was born Jan. 30, 1943, at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Cyrus David and Martha Olive (Smith) Wentz.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel David Newman; two sons, Robert Eugene Smith and Ronald Lynn Waugaman and wife, Sherri, all of Junior; three daughters, Trudy Lyvon Nochel and husband, Paul, Carla Ann Riley and husband, Mark, all of Good Hope, and Loretta June Baker of Lewisburg; four brothers, Gary (Margie) Wentz, David (Charlotte) Wentz, all of Hall Community, Steve Wentz of Carrollton Community and Donald (Teresa) Wentz of Flemington; four sisters, Barbara (Bill) Chaapel of Hall, Mary (Woody) Cole of Volga, Sue (Robert) Weaver of Horner and Beulah (Robert) Ruckman of West Milford; grandchildren, Lora Lea Poling, Jacob Baker, Adam Baker, Christopher Baker, Logan Waugaman and Cassidy Riley; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah Poling.

She was also preceded in death by a former husband, Charles Junior Waugaman; and by one brother, George "Buck" McCauley.

Mrs. Newman was a homemaker. She was described as a "wonderful" mother who loved her children unconditionally. She enjoyed flower gardening and loved to attend church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Ave., Belington. The Rev. Randolph Sims will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., the funeral hour, on Sunday.
