Betty L. Plymale

Betty Lou Plymale, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went to her heavenly home at the age of 84 on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon.

She was born Aug., 11, 1924, at Kingmont, the daughter of the late Carl and Flossie Vincent West.

On Nov. 28, 1942, she married Dixie Plymale, who preceded her in death on May 11, 1993.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Plymale; four brothers, Marion West, Ray West, Ruben West and Richard West; two sisters, Louary Victo and Iris Thompson; and one son-in-law, Richard Scott.

Surviving are two sons, Clyde Plymale and wife, Dora, of Jefferson, Md., and Gene Plymale and wife, Patty, of Buckhannon; four daughter, Dorothy Coontz and husband, Eugene, of Martinsburg, Loretta D. Samples, Martha Scott and Margaret Rowan and husband, Bill, all of Buckhannon; and one sister, Frances Carlin of Fairmont. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Plymale was a homemaker and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, at the church with Branch President Chad Plymale officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery in Buckhannon. Ruby M. Hebb

Ruby May Painter Hebb, 88, a resident of St. George, departed this life Friday morning, Oct. 3, 2008, in Valentine's Personal Care Home at Elkins.

She was born Monday, Oct. 13, 1919, at Montrose, a daughter of the late Marvin Clay Painter and Isa Pearl Auvil Painter.

On May 4, 1952, at Elkins, she was married to Alva Jay Hebb, who preceded her in death April 26, 1987.

Surviving are one sister, Jean Stickley of Winchester, Va.; one brother-in-law, Vernon Allen Shahan of St. George; four nephews, Vernon "Butch" Shahan, Max Eakin, David Stickley and Marvin Eakin; and three nieces, Roxanna Linnville, Sandy Hoffman and Debbie Sargent.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Audra Eakin and Mary Virginia Shahan; and one niece, Yvonne Mary Minear.

She attended the one-room Ewin School at Auvil Town and Parsons High School. She was a former employee of the Paradise Valley Hospital in San Diego, Calif. She was a member of the Seven Day Adventist Church at Parsons. She loved to bake and sew. She played the piano and organ and she was avid in Bible study.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ruth I. Channell

Ruth Channell, 89, born on Jan. 18, 1919, at Valley Head, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2008, in Warren Memorial Hospital at Front Royal, Va. She had resided at 1416 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal, Va. since April 2005.

She married Frank Channell on Oct 10, 1936. He preceded her in death on Dec 16, 2004.

She is survived by her son, Donnie and daughter-in-law, Retha Channell; two grandchildren, Jeanne Proctor and husband, Ken, and Donna Nicholson and husband, Dan; and six great-grandchildren, Arthur, Karen, Daniel, Adam, Elizabeth and Andrew.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Warren, Thurman and Arthur Arbogast

She was a lifelong homemaker, loved quilting , embroidery, crochet\ and her little dog, Lacie. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Valley Head United Methodist church

Friends will be received at Tomblyn Funeral Home from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct 8. A graveside service will be conducted in the Valley Head Cemetery on Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Ann Fretwell officiating.  From 6 Oct 2008.

Violet W. Barker

Violet Winifred Walker Barker, 90, a resident of Valentine's Personal Care Home for the past year, and a former resident of Mabie and Philippi in 1945, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2008, in Valentine's Personal Care Home.

She was born Jan. 19, 1918, at Bow, England, a daughter of the late Samuel Fredrick and Ethel Attwood Walker.

She was united in marriage to Ralph Barker in London, England, and moved to Philippi. He preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1972.

Surviving is one niece, Joan and husband, Peter Robinson of London, England.

Mrs. Barker was preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Evan and Ivie Que.

Mrs. Barker loved bowling, was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing rummy with friends. She enjoyed spending countless hours riding in the West Virginia hills with her dear friend, Betty Woods, and listening to old hymns on the stereo. Mrs. Barker attended the Elkins Nazarene Church until she was unable to attend.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., in Philippi on Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the service hour with Pastor Terry Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Mr. Hebron Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home services.  From 6 Oct 2008.

Pauline Lantz

Pauline Lantz, 82, of Briarwood Lane, Fairmont, formerly of Main Street, Worthington, passed away Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, in Golden Living Center of Morgantown.

Pauline was born Nov. 6, 1925, the daughter of the late Sebert and Lina Hogan Fisher.

She retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years of service.

She is survived by her son, Stephen Lantz of Fairmont.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper W. Lantz; and one sister, Martha Hatch.

Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, is providing cremation services. Committal will follow at a later date in the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins. Elfa L. Lloyd

Elfa Lorena Mouse Lloyd, 93, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 6, 2008, in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

She was born April 27, 1915, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Kent White Mouse and Lula Pearl Mouse.

On Nov. 18, 1934, at Oakland Md., she was married to Oval Guy Lloyd, who preceded her in death on May 18, 1959.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth M. Lloyd and Robert A. Lloyd and wife, Sharon, all of Elkins; two daughters, Dixie L. Bowers of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Lorene F. Bunner of Elkins. One sister, Irene Star Lowrey, Baltimore, Md.; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Guy Mouse; four sisters, Effie Cavender, Odessa Mace, Martha Smith and Nellie Mouse; four nephews, one niece and one infant grandson.

Mrs. Lloyd was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Elkins Learners, Randolph County Senior Center, Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62 of Elkins, Pythian Sisters Temple No. 77, Buckhannon Pythian Sisters No. 134, William Ewing No. 55, Tucker No. 8, Nomads of Santa No. 91 of Buckhannon, Ladies Auxillary Patriarchs Militant No. 8 of Elkins, Elkins IOOF Lodge No. 116, Penman of American, Senior Center Melody Chorus and was the 2002 Randolph County Belle.

Espy W. Miller

Dr. Espy W. Miller, 94, of Charles Street, Glenville, departed this life at 2:29 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, following an extended illness.

Dr. Miller, retired professor of English and chairman of the language division at Glenville State College, was a native of Randolph County, having been born at Mill Creek on April 13, 1914, the son of the late Alexander C. and Mary Ellen Fletcher Miller.

He attended public schools in Mill Creek and graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1931.

A graduate of Concord College in Athens, Dr. Miller was formerly a teacher in Randolph County public schools, having taught at Pickens High School and the Homestead Junior High School in Dailey.

On May 31, 1940, Dr. Miller was married to Wilma Rosalea Poling of Elkins, a teacher at Tygarts Valley High School, who preceded him in death Nov. 28, 2001.

He took the master of arts degree at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., in 1940.

After a four-year career in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he joined the English faculty at Glenville State College as an instructor in English and journalism in 1946. For the doctorate, Dr. Miller studied at the Ohio State University while on leave of absence from Glenville State College. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree from Ohio State in 1959. He became chairman of the language division at Glenville State and held that position until retirement in May of 1976. While a member of the English faculty at Glenville State, Dr. Miller was elected chairman of the Advisory Council of Faculty to the West Virginia Board of Regents and served as a member of that board until his retirement. Since retirement, Dr. Miller was active in emergency medical and ambulance service in Gilmer County, having served as president of the Ambulance Commission for 17 years. He was an active member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Glenville/Gilmer Rotary Club and the Gilmer County Association of Retired School Employees.

Dr. Miller was preceded in death by four brothers, Guy R. Miller, William E. Miller, John Carl Miller and Charles A. Miller; and one sister, Pearl Marie Burke.

He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville with the Rev. Michael Ford officiating. Burial will follow in the Meadow Lane Cemetery. Gladys McCauley

Mrs. Gladys Phares McCauley, 106, a resident of 1341 Rail Road St. in Grafton and more recently of the Rosewood Nursing Center in Grafton departed this life at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008, in the care facility.

She was born June 1, 1902, at the Stone Coal Community near Belington, a daughter of the late James T. and Clara Wilson Phares.

In 1927, she was united in marriage to Christopher Columbus McCauley, who preceded her in death in 1972.

She is survived by one son, James K. McCauley and wife, Avonelle, of Grafton; one daughter, Thelma Nutter of Bridgeport; and two sisters, Wilda McCauley of Grafton and Helen McCauley of Elkins. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Maynard McCauley; one daughter, Opal Shaffer; three brothers, Paul Phares, Lee Don Phares and Earl Phares; and three sisters, Celia Durrett, Hallie Rowan and Katherine Phares.

Mrs. McCauley attended the schools of Barbour County, was a member of the Concord United Methodist Church in Belington and was a homemaker most of her adult life.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and on Thursday until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert E. Stout

Robert "Bob" Edward Stout, 85, of Buckhannon, formerly of Salem, passed away on Oct. 6, 2008, at home with his wife, children and two special nephews, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 28, 1923, at Lightburn, to Erma Meredith Stout and Zelphia Mary (Seckman) Stout.

He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Sarah Louise Ash, whom he married on Oct. 25, 1947.

Also surviving are his son, Robert Edward Stout Jr. and wife, Karen, of Scott Depot; two daughters, Linda L. Johnson and husband, Brent, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Shelia L. Moss and husband, Marlin, of Charleston; six grandchildren, Kimberly Reilly and husband, Kevin, of Pittsburgh, Charlie Moss and companion, Michelle Hager, Alicia Pluebell and husband, Michael, of Pittsburgh, Samantha Stout of Scott Depot, Carrie Combs and husband, Matthew, of Charleston and Robert Stout III of Scott Depot; and three great-grandchildren, Sarah and Hanna Reilly of Pittsburgh and Cindy Hager of Charleston. Several special nieces and nephews, who are loved deeply and are a very important part of the Stout family, also survive.

Mr. Stout was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Stout was a graduate of West Union High School and received a bachelor of science degree from Salem College. He also served four years in the U.S. Army, serving his country as a World War II veteran. He received several awards including three Bronze Stars, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Mr. Stout retired from Equitable Life Insurance Co. in 1985 as a manager after 36 years of service. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 156 AF & AM, the Moose, Elks Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Mr. Stout was a Baptist by faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed golfing, hunting, gardening and was an avid West Virginia University fan. Mr. Stout was a wonderful man who never knew a stranger and was loved by all who knew him. He will be missed greatly, but his memory will live on forever through his family and friends. The family would like to thank St. Joseph's Hospice, especially Harold and Connie for their help and kindness.

Virginia A. Storti

Virginia Avanelle "Toots" Storti, 93, of Buckhannon, died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Serenity Care in Buckhannon.

She was born Dec. 27, 1914, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Edgar W. and Lillian Rennix Thacker.

On June 16, 1951, she married Oresto Jack Storti, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1996.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, James W., Delph and Wayland Thacker; one sister, Lillian Maxine Thacker; and one nephew, Neale Thacker.

She is survived by one stepdaughter, Rosalie Spangenberg of San Jose, Calif.; one stepson, Vincent Storti of San Francisco, Calif.; two nieces, Kay Thacker Winebrenner of Amherst, Ohio, and Phyllis Thacker of Buckhannon; two nephews, Bobby Thacker of Florida, and Eddie Thacker of Katy, Texas; seven great-nieces, Debbie Thacker-Wilfong of Buckhannon, Tina Mullendore of Blacksburg, Va., Jersula Thacker of Florida, Kristie Tomes of Richmond, Va., Roberta Kay Thome of Elyria, Ohio, Angie Barnes of Amherst, Ohio, and Valerie Davoli of Indiana; three great-nephews, Steve Thacker of Buckhannon, Christopher Thacker of Louisiana, and Neale Winebrenner of Lorain, Ohio; two great-great-nephews, Nick Wilfong of Buckhannon and Douglas Mullendore of Blacksburg; and one sister-in-law, Kitty Davidson Thacker of Charleston.

She was a homemaker.

Dewey D. Brenwald

Dewey D. "Dude" Brenwald, 81, of Wabash Street, Sand Fork, departed this life at 9:47 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Braxton County Health Care.

He was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Randolph County, a son of the late Jacob and Martha Lower Brenwald.

Mr. Brenwald was retired from Valley Camp Coal Co., an Army veteran of World War II and a Protestant by faith.

On June 28, 1952, he was married to Ilene Crook Brenwald, who survives at their Sand Fork home.

Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Joyce Gainer and husband, Jack, of Amity, Pa., Jayne Saul of Charlotte, N.C., James "Darin" Brenwald and wife, Barb, of Sand Fork and Michael Brenwald and wife LouAnn of Diamond. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Brandon and wife, Tina Brenwald, of Bell, Jamie Gainer of Amity, Pa., Jeffery Brenwald and Steven Brenwald of Bell and Jozlyn Brenwald of Sand Fork; two brothers and two sisters, Ronnie Brenwald and wife, Hallie, of Ohio, Ben Brenwald and wife, Alice, of Florida, Leona Phares and husband, Ray, of Montrose and Gladys Lambert and husband, Delbert, of Elkins; and sisters-in-law, Stella Fuch of Ohio., Jean Brenwald of Alaska, and Gail Brenwald of Ohio.

Dude was preceded in death six brothers and three sisters, Roy, Theaddeus, Richard, Joseph, Denzil and Amel Brenwald, Sophia Shiflett, Mary Ellis and Madalyn George.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc. in Glenville with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Fork Cemetery. Eva G. Currence

Eva Grace Mills Currence, 94, a resident of Mill Creek, and a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct.8, 2008, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 6, 1914, at Huff, a daughter of the late Edgar L. and the late Anna F. Shreve Mills.

She was married to Dale L. Currence, who preceded her in death on June 1, 2007.

Surviving are three daughters, Cecilia Mavis Conrad and husband, Kenneth, of Bassett, Va., Beatrice Barrickman and husband, Utah, and Patricia Chewning and husband, Ray, all of Mill Creek. Ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren also survive. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Ruth Mills.

Mrs. Currence was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by brothers, Denvil, Darris, Harold, Hertzel, Bayard and Everett Mills; and sisters, Beulah Watson, Wanita Daniels and Dale Forinash. Also preceding her in death was a granddaughter.

Mrs. Currence attended the Huff School, was a homemaker and was a member of the Jerusalem United Methodist Church and Huttonsville Rebekah Lodge No. 103.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. At 7 p.m., Huttonsville Rebekah Lodge No. 103 will conduct a memorial service. Harry H. Golden

Harvey H. Golden, 95, of Buckhannon and formerly of the Carter community passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born Jan. 16, 1913, at Newlon, the son of the late Hilleary Hampton Golden and Dessie Mae Howes Golden.

On Sept. 7, 1943, he married Donice Marie Lee, who preceded him in death on June 9, 2000.

He was a loving father and grandfather to his family and is survived by six children, Carolyn Lee Patterson and husband, John, of Carter, Dr. William Glen Golden and wife, Louise, of Westerville, Ohio, Joyce Wickland and husband, Steve, of Bridgeport, Linda Louise Kimble and husband, Dr. Steve Kimble, of Petersburg, Sandra Mae Garrard and husband, Grady, of Lehi, Utah, and Sara Gorin and husband, Dave, of Carter; and 17 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Daphne Golden; three sisters, Virginia Katherine Golden, Genevieve Hart and Geraldine Golden; and one grandson, Andrew Cameron Roth.

He was proud to be a charter member of the first 4-H club in West Virginia. He was also a member of the 4-H All-Stars. Harvey was a talented musician who played the guitar, violin and mandolin, winning first place in a competition at the West Virginia State Fair. Mr. Golden was a graduate of the Upshur County High School with the class of 1932.

Harvey Golden had an exemplary military career, serving in World War II in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was commissioned at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1944 as second lieutenant in the U.S. Army serving in both the European and Pacific Theaters; and was honorably discharged as a captain. He was cited for heroic action against the enemy and awarded the Bronze Star.

In the early 1950s, he was selected as the Upshur County Conservation Farmer of the year. His strawberries won the West Virginia Strawberry Sweepstakes in 1965. In November 1967, his farm was featured in the Farm Journal magazine. After many years serving West Virginia as a tax mapper, he retired from the State Tax Department in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon and was very active in the Upshur County Senior Citizen Center. He was a member of the American Legion. In 1997, Harvey handily won a spelling bee against his daughters and other contestants at the West Virginia Folk Festival in Glenville. He won numerous awards in the Senior Olympics and was a West Virginia Strawberry Festival Champion in dominos and checkers.

Visitation will be Friday at the Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Charles Pennington

Charles Marley "Chink" Pennington, 76, a native of Sugarlands, and a resident of Killeen, Texas, passed away Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 20, 1932, at Thomas, a son of the late Remer and Iva Helmick Pennington.

On July 3, 1954, in England, he was married to the former Mary Fountain, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, David Pennington and wife, Nellie, Richard Pennington and wife, Jamie, and Steven Pennington and wife, Denise, all of Texas; one daughter, Susan Nixon and husband, Neil, of Virginia; one brother, Roy Pennington and wife, Jill, of Buckhannon; two sisters, Vivian Robinson of Elkins and Vera Knotts of Sugarlands; and eight grandchildren, David, Christina, Shae, Nicole, Shelby, Melanie and Megan Pennington and Jessica Nixon.

Preceding him in death were four brothers, Earl, Darl, Carl and James; and two sisters, Osa Marie Pennington and Jeanette Dumire.

He attended the schools of Tucker County. He was a decorated 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, retiring in 1969 after serving tours in both Korea and Vietnam. During his service, he received the Bronze Star for valor, two Purple Hearts, the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Gallantry Cross with a Silver Star. Following his military service, he worked 20 years with Mrs. Bairds Bread, retiring in 1992.

Donald M. Ferry Sr.

Donald Monroe Ferry Sr., 68, a resident of Mabie, passed away at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

He was born Feb. 22, 1940, at Austintown, Ohio, a son of the late Ira Marion Ferry and Josephine Mary Conklin Ferry.

On Feb. 22, 1964, he was married to the former Kathryn Reed, who survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Donald Monroe Ferry Jr. and Adam Marvin Ferry, both of Cassity, John Mark Ferry of Macon, Ga., and Robert William Ferry of Warner Robins, Ga.; one brother, Ira Marion Ferry Jr. of Warren, Ohio; and three sisters, Dorothy Marion Carrier of Bird Hill, Ohio, Josephine Mary McLaughlin of Corsica, Pa., and Genevieve Mae Wrightsmann of Cortland, Ohio. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren including Sean and Don Ferry, who were being raised by Mr. and Mrs. Ferry; and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Ferry was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He was a Blue Beret with the Special Forces for 15 years and a Vietnam War veteran. He was a member of Houston Lodge No. 35 Free and Accepted Masons of Perry, Ga., where he was Past Worshipful Master. He was also a member and past president of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Shrine Club, both of Perry, Ga. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Warner Robins, Ga.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, with the Rev. Wease Day officiating. Eva Grace Mills Currence, 94, a resident of Mill Creek, and more recently a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, 2008, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

Roger M. Gould

Roger Marshall Gould, 65, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.

He was born Sept. 9, 1943, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Basil Marshall and Marjorie Wamsley Gould.

On Aug. 12, 1967, he married Janie Miller, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kelli Ann Mick of Buckhannon and Kristi Dawn Burr and husband, John, of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Haley Burr of Buckhannon; one stepgranddaughter, Ashley Burr of Buckhannon; one sister, Mary Ellen Crumrine and husband, Robert, of St. Clairsville, Ohio; one brother, Terry Gould and wife, Donna, of Buckhannon; special nephew, Troy "Buddy" Brady of Buckhannon; and mother-in-law, Susan Miller of Buckhannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Ian Christopher Mick; one brother, Frank Gould; and one sister, Betty Brady.

Roger was a press operator for Moore Business Forms and a Baptist by faith.

Sheila K. Everson

Sheila Kay Everson, 53, of Beech Avenue, Junior, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born Oct. 18, 1954, at Elkins, a daughter of Doris Elaine (Moyer) White, who survives at Elkins and the late Lou White.

She was twice married. Her first husband, Roy Alvin Poe, preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 1997. On Feb. 14, 1998, she was married to Harold Franklin Everson, who survives at Junior.

Also surviving are one daughter, Leslie England and husband, John, of Junior; two sons, Jeffery Poe and wife, Michelle, of Junior and Haydon Poe, at home; two stepchildren, Kenneth "Bernie" Everson and wife, Jodie, of Belington and Stacy Lynn Everson of Philippi; two sisters, Patty White and Debbie Arbogast, both of Elkins; one brother, Gary White and wife, Becky, of Elkins; three grandchildren, Dylan England, McKenzie England and Remington "aught-6" Poe; six stepgrandchildren, Brittany Nichole Everson, Shannon Elaine Everson, Austin Everson, Hunter Everson, Michael Everson and Zack "Rudy" Little; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a stepson, Harold Keith Everson.

Mrs. Everson was a graduate of the Davis & Elkins College Nursing Program. She was a registered nurse and was employed as charge nurse in the acute care unit at Broaddus Hospital. She was a former emergency medical technician. She was a member of the Belington Emergency Squad and the Junior Volunteer Fire Department. She loved camping, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, from Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel, 609 Crim Ave., Belington. Pastor Bryan Headley will officiate and interment will follow in the Knights of Pythias Mountain View Cemetery at Junior.

Daryl K. Cooper

Daryl Kenneth Cooper, 45, of Harman passed away Oct. 9, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He was born June 4, 1963 in Oakland, Md., a son of Kenneth Willard Cooper and the late Alice Colleen Feather Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Amy Parsons Cooper; one son, Timothy Cooper; three daughters, Ashley Lawerence and husband, John, Misty Cooper and husband, Zack and Emily Cooper, all of Harman; one brother, Derick Cooper of Aurora; two sisters, Denise Cooper of Cumberland, Md. and Darinda Turley of Short Gap; one granddaughter; and two soon to be born grandsons.

Daryl was employed as a carpenter. He was affiliated with Dry Fork Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.

Leona C. Pingley

Leona Catherine Davis Arbogast Pingley, 82, a former resident of Glady, a resident of Valley Bend since 1971 and for the past year a resident of Gilman, where she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Russell Higgins Jr., departed this life Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at her home.

She was born Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1926, at Durbin, a daughter of the late Elmer and Willa Curtis Davis.

She was twice married. First, during 1942, she was married to Lawrence Arbogast, who preceded her in death during 1964. Second, during 1971, she was married to Ralph Pingley, who preceded her in death during 1989.

Surviving are one son, Lawrence Arbogast Jr. and wife, Wanda, of Elkins; three daughters, Joyce King and husband, Charles, of Fredericksburg, Va.; Carolyn Higgins and husband, Russell Jr., of Elkins and Patricia Hamerlinch and husband, John, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; one stepson, Richard Pingley of Sutton; one stepdaughter, Julie Pritt Pingley of Huttonsville; three sisters, Anna Mae Harris of Elkins. Evelyn Fee of Green Valley, Ariz., and Anita Guire of New Cumberland; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were one son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Pamela Arbogast; and one stepdaughter, Meridith.

She attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked for the Randolph County Board of Education as a school cook for several years and retired from Family Health Service as a home health aid. She was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel, Monday, Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Lloyd P. Hall

Lloyd P. "Boone" Hall, 65, of Parkersburg, died Oct. 10, 2008 at his residence.

He was born at Slate, a son of Melba Hall Allman of Parkersburg and the late Earl Hall.

Lloyd retired from Dupont after 32 years of service, loved to go hunting and fishing and enjoyed attending the sporting and cheerleading events of his grandchildren, Jakeb and Haley, who meant the world to him. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.

He is survived by his wife, Goldine, whom he married September 5, 1970; one son, Brian Hall and wife, Kathleen, of Virginia; one daughter, Ramona Snyder and husband, Mark, whom he thought of as a son, of Belleville; three grandchildren, Allison Hall, Jake Snyder and Haley Snyder; one brother, Herman Hall and wife, Mary, of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Linda Brotosky of Buffalo and June Yocum and husband, Brad, of Little Hocking, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. J.T. Conner and staff and Housecalls/Hospice.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by step-father, Hubert Allman; one sister, Freda Riel; one brother, Jack Hall; father-in-law, Charles Linch; two brothers-in-law, Roy Riel and Lou Brotosky; and a fishing buddy, Willard Vance.

Olive A. Riggleman

Olive A. Riggleman, 91, a former resident of Mill Creek and a resident of Clarksburg, for the past 12 years, where she lived with her daughter, Delores Walls, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2008 at her home.

She was born March 27, 1917, at Valley Head, a daughter of the late Oliver J. and Lucy A. Snyder Channell. She was married to Leo Riggleman who preceded her in death. Surviving are one son, Robert Leo Riggleman, Fairborn, Ohio; three daughters, Delores M. Walls, Clarksburg, Lenore Eileen Chenoweth, Montrose and Kathleen Kay Mahoney, Elkins. Also surviving is a brother, Elmer Channell, Dunkirk, Md.; sisters Hazel Sandhoff, Spring Hill, Fla. and Glenna McCue, Maysville, N.C.; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Riggleman was a homemaker and was employed by Whiteway Produce.
