Antonia C. Arey

Antonia Courtney Arey, infant daughter of Anthony D. and Betty DeLaura Courtney Arey of Buckhannon, died Friday, July 18, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

She was born July 14, 2008, in Morgantown.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Nathan Arey and Terrell Courtney, both of Buckhannon; three sisters, Cassie and Charity Arey and Nikki Butcher, all of Buckhannon; paternal grandfather, Gerald Arey of Buckhannon, paternal grandmother, Esther Arey of Buckhannon, maternal grandfather, Charles Courtney of Selbyville; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Courtney of Buckhannon; paternal great-grandmother, Goldie Arey of Luray, Va.; two stepgrandmothers, Bea Courtney of Selbyville and Kay Arey of Buckhannon; a stepgrandfather, Henry Hamner of Buckhannon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dorothy O. Marson

Dorothy O. Marson, 102, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, in Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

She was born April 14, 1906, at Alexander, a daughter of the late Hanson and Ovia Crawford Click.

Mrs. Marson married Harry Marson II, who preceded her in death on Oct. 15, 1949.

She is survived by one son, Jim Marson of Buckhannon; one daughter-in-law, Marion Marson of Boca Raton, Fla.; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Lattimer and husband, Brian, of Buckhannon; four grandsons, Harry Marson IV and wife, Yvonne, of Elkins, Randy Marson of Boca Raton, Fla., Jimmy and Larry Cottrell, both of Houston, Texas; two great-grandsons, H.C. Marson V and Darrick Marson; five great-granddaughters, Ashley and Serena Marson, Brandi Cottrell, Kayla and Peyton Carlyle; two great-great-grandsons, Harry Marson VI and Hank Marson; one great-great-granddaughter, Sydney Cottrell; and three nieces, Jill Click Starkey of Fairmont, Mary Jo Harper of Martins Ferry, Ohio, and Marie Click Hill of Elkins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Harry Marson III; one daughter Hilda Cottrell; two grandsons, Michael and Terry Cottrell; four brothers, Cecil, Durwood, James and Roy Click; and one sister, Hazel Click.

Mrs. Marson was a private care nurse at St. Joseph's and Leonard Memorial hospitals. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon, Teter Community Education Outreach Society, Chapter 18 Order of the Eastern Star and Welcome Club.

Emanuel Grindstaff, 58, a former resident of Elkins, and for the past six years, a resident of Nella's Inc. at Crystal Springs, departed this life late Saturday evening, July 19, 2008, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

Josephine C. Roy

Josephine Catherine White Roy, 73, a native of Tucker County, and a resident of Bridgeport, departed this life Friday afternoon, July 18, 2008, in United Hospital Center at Clarksburg, WV.

She was born Thursday, Jan. 10, 1935, at Dryfork, a daughter of the late Elmer White and Ritha Carr White.

On July 9, 1952, at Elkins, she was married to Delbert D. Roy, who survives at Bridgeport.

Also surviving are two sons, Roy Lee Roy of Bridgeport and David D. Roy of Elkins; one brother, Levi "Shorty" White and wife, Mary, of Keyser; one half sister, Gladys Calhoun of Florida; and three grandchildren, Crystal D. Roy, Ben D. Roy and Daniel J. Roy, all of Elkins;

Preceding her in death was one brother, Granvel White.

She attended the schools of Parsons, was a certified nursing assistant having retired from the Heritage Convalescent Home with 33 years of caring service in 2001. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Bridgeport and loved gardening, flowers and cooking. She had a big heart and loved her family and friends and will be sadly missed by them.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Phillip W. Barbe

Phillip W. Barbe, 63, of Buckhannon, died Friday, July 18, 2008, at his home under the care of People's Hospice.

He was born Nov. 21, 1944, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Woodford Barbe and Rhea Haddix Wasmer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Marie Underwood.

He is survived by four sisters, Jill Bentley and husband, Ron, of Buckhannon, Jackie Bennett and husband, Don of Lost Creek, Dee Suan and husband, Edsel, of Amargrosa Valley, Nev., and Janet Kirk and husband, Adrian, of Tallmadge, Ohio; two brothers, Coy Barbe and wife, Linda, of Diana and Chris Wasmer of Carthage, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews; and all his co-workers at Triad Builders of King, N.C.

Mr. Barbe was a carpenter and a Baptist by faith.

Richard B. Arnold

Dr. Richard Byron Arnold, 70, of Palominas, Ariz., passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, in Tucson Heart Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.

Richard was born to Leland and Ruth Reger Arnold in Buckhannon on Aug. 27, 1937.

Raised in Huntington, he graduated from the West Virginia University Medical School in 1962. Following his medical residency in Honolulu, Hawaii, he served as a medical officer in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1965 in Thailand and Hawaii. Subsequently, his career in public health focused on work for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, U.S. Agency for International Development, World Health Organization and as a county health officer for Santa Barbara, Kings, Madera, and Lake County in California, and Cochise County in Arizona. Internationally, his work centered on smallpox eradication and implementing immunization programs in countries ranging from Nigeria to India, Indonesia, and the Philippines. He enjoyed outdoor activities, family genealogical research and travel.

A loving father, he is survived by sons, Jonathan, Geoffrey and Matthew; as well as his brothers, Raymond and Robert.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 22, in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Leland and Ruth Arnold Music Scholarship Fund at West Virginia Wesleyan University. Delores J. "Dee" Conner, 77, of Petersburg, died Monday, July 21, 2008, in Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.

Eva (Parker) Snyder Widmyer, 89, of Lahmansville, died Monday, July 21, 2008, in Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg.

Michael L. Gear

Michael L. Gear, 52, a resident of Whitman Avenue, Crystal Springs, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, at his residence.

He was born March 25, 1956, at Elkins, a son of the late Austin Hall Gear and Catherine Ray Hamilton Gear.

On Feb. 18, 1979, he was married to the former Virginia L. "Jenny" Rennix, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Zachary "Zach" Gear of Elkins; two daughters, Kayla Stewart of Norton and Courtney Gear of Elkins; two brothers, Donald Gear and Charles "Charlie" Gear, both of Elkins; and one sister, Louise Corbett of Myrtle Beach, S.C. Two grandchildren, Nattie Stewart and Jaida George, also survive, with a third grandchild due to be born in the near future.

Michael was a former employee of the Western Maryland Railroad. He then received his associate degree in nursing from Davis & Elkins College. He worked at Nella's Nursing Home for nine years. He recently became employed at Appalachian Community Health where he worked until his death. Michael was a piper with the West Virginia Highlanders of Davis & Elkins College for more than 25 years. He was a member and Past Worshipful Master of Elkins Lodge No. 108 A.F. and A.M. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins.

Roy E. Pitzer

Mr. Roy Ellis Pitzer, 76, a resident of Teter Avenue, Belington, departed this life at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past several months.

He was born Nov. 10, 1931, in Barbour County, the second son of the late Roy Lee Pitzer and Mary Pearl Scott Pitzer.

He had never married.

Mr. Pitzer is survived by one sister, Wanita Wright and husband, Ralph, of Belington; and four brothers, George Dale and wife, Natalee, and Robert and wife, Bernice, all of Moatsville, Delmas of Belington and Edward and wife, Laura June, of Chambersburg, Pa. Also surviving are 12 nieces and nephews including a special niece, Linda; and 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Elis, who died at birth, and Lois Majiros; and one nephew, Neal Pitzer.

Mr. Pitzer attended the schools of Barbour County. He graduated with the class of 1950 from Kasson High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and had retired from the West Virginia Division of Highways as an equipment operator. He was a hard worker. Having worked all day on the roads, he would drive 20 miles and work on the family farm where he would work in the hay fields. He had a great love for the cattle he raised, which he did until recently and he enjoyed going to the stock sales. Mr. Pitzer was a member of the Laurel Mountain Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 410 of Belington and after his retirement, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended the Belington Nazarene Church after a profession of faith in his later life.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, on Wednesday, July 23, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Thursday until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Morris Cemetery near Kasson where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi. Audrey E. DeBolt

Audrey Elizabeth Carr DeBolt, 85, a resident of Elkins, passed away July 21, 2008, in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

She was born June 8, 1923, at Kerens, a daughter of the late Jacob Kenna Carr and Dollie Raines Carr.

On Dec. 21, 1946, she was married to Joe DeBolt, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Joyce D. White and husband, Emmett, of Lexington, Ky., and Connie S. Moore of Madison, Miss.; one brother, Warren Carr and wife, Beverly, of Orwell, Ohio; and three sisters, Eula Jean Dean and husband, Thomas, and Anna Ashley of Elkins and Sadie Smith and husband, Robert, of Oak Hill. Also surviving are two grandsons, Albert Voorhees of Loveland, Ohio, and Andrew Voorhees of Chesapeake, Va.

Mrs. DeBolt was employed as a kindergarten aide in Kanawha County for many years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

Betty B. Fortney

Betty Blue Cutright Fortney, 68, a resident of the Gateway Apartments, Elkins, departed this life Monday afternoon, July 21, 2008, at her home. She had been in declining health.

She was born Sunday, Feb. 18, 1940, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Robert Cutright and Hattie Marie Taylor Cutright.

On July 8, 1955, she was married to James Albert Fortney, who preceded her in death Aug. 31, 1999.

Surviving are six sons, Roger Fortney and companion, Linda Casto, of Elkins, Billy Fortney and wife, Esther, of the Georgetown Road, Denver Fortney and wife, Ellen, of Mill Creek, Robert Fortney and wife, Mary, of Teaberry Hills, Allen Fortney and wife, Josie, of Mill Creek and James Fortney and wife, Michell, of Beverly; two daughters, Nancy Lambert and husband, Sonny, of Wymer and Loretta Currence and husband, Tim, of Elkins; one brother, Leroy Taylor of Junior; three sisters, Louise Harris and Ginnie Meadows, both of Junior, and Evelyin Golden of Belington; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were three sisters, Edna Taylor, Pauline Taylor and Mary Ann Parks.

She attended the schools of Randolph County, was a homemaker and attended the Elkins Church of the Brethren.

Carol J. Freeman

Mrs. Carol Jean Martin Freeman, 56, a resident of Montrose, and more recently a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan in Belington, departed this life at 4:50 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2008, in the care facility following a period of declining health.

She was born May 7, 1952, at Charleston, a daughter of Ellen Harper Martin of Ravenna, Ohio, and the late Carlos Martin.

On June 29, 1970, at Oakland, Md., she was united in marriage to Bradford E. Freeman, who survives at their home.

In addition to her husband and mother, Mrs. Freeman is survived by one son, Kenneth B. Freeman and wife, Lynnette, of Munroe Falls, Ohio; one brother, Roy Martin of Mantua, Ohio; and two sisters, Betty Blasiole of Florida, and Mary Edwards of Ravenna, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She attended the schools of Ravenna, Ohio, had been employed at the Barbour County Good Samaritan, and employed by Cardinal Packaging in Streets Boro Ohio as a supervisor. She belonged to TOPS weight control program and was a Methodist by faith.

Edith Holden

Edith Bell Holden, 90, of Beverly, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins following a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 27, 1917, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Isaac J. Bell and Cora B. Crislip Bell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Slim" Holden, in 1979; and three sisters, Hazel Christisen, Claricy Taylor and Merle Swisher.

She is survived by two sisters, Geraldine Ellison of Elkins and Mildred Curtis of Buckhannon; one brother, Clarence Bell of Weston; and several nieces and nephews.

Edith retired from the Weston State Hospital and was a Christian by faith.

She took great pride in her paintings and flower arrangements, some of which can still be found in Weston businesses.

James B. Queen

James Bradford Queen, 59, of Buckhannon, died Monday, July 21, 2008, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born Sept. 22, 1948, at Clarksburg, a son of James L. Queen of Buckhannon and the late Rosetta Jenkins Queen.

On June 28, 2006, he married Elizabeth A. Wilson, who survives.

In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by two sons, James Bailey of Edgewood, Md., and Kenneth A. Bailey of Painesville, Ohio; seven stepchildren; four grandchildren; one brother, Gary L. Queen of Warren, Ohio; and two sisters, Diana McGurer of Garrettsville, Ohio, and Sandy Laughlin of Baden, Pa.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his second wife, Winnie Marie Williams; and one stepson, Earl Roby.

Mr. Queen as a security guard for Jenkins Ford, a member of the Mt. Union United Methodist Church and a strong believer.

Larry C. Bundy

Larry C. Bundy, 39, of Tallmansville, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at his home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1968, at Elizabeth City, N.C., a son of Luther C. and Eva Lee Byrum Bundy of Elizabeth City, N.C.

On May 21, 1989, he married Jeannie B. Butt, who survives.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by two sons, Blake and Brad Bundy of Tallmansville; extended children, Jennifer Floyd of Summersville, S.C., and Austin Yates of South Mills, S.C.: two sisters, Jeannie Twiford of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Ruth Cheeks of Hertford, N.C.; and two brothers, Luke Bundy of Elizabeth City, N.C., and Leslie Bundy of South Mills, S.C.

Larry was an autoworker for Ford Motor Co.

Mary A. Mulligan

Mary Ann Mulligan, 47, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2008, at her home following a long illness, surrounded by her family and friends.

Mary Ann was born Sept. 29, 1960, at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston.

She was a well-respected nurse for many years, until she became disabled. Mary Ann worked as a nurse at Denmar State Hospital for 10 years, for Dr. William Browning for eight years, at Pocahontas Center for two years and at Greystone Nursing Home for three years. Mary Ann was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntersville.

Her father, Samuel Leach, preceded her in death.

Surviving Mary Ann are her husband, Steve Mulligan, of Hillsboro; mother, Carolyn Leach of Green Bank; three children, Brad, Holly and Adam Sewell, all of Marlinton; two stepdaughters, Amanda Mulligan and Brittney Pritt, both of Hillsboro; two brothers, Pat and Kent Leach, both of Elkins; and one granddaughter, Savannah Sewell of Marlinton.

A memorial service will be conducted at the First Baptist Church of Huntersville at a later date.  From 23 Jul 2008.

Elmer C. Chidester

Elmer Clinton Chidester, 74, of the Canaan Community, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Buckhannon.

He was born Nov. 23, 1933 in Canaan, a son of the late Orval Clinton and Icie May Strader Chidester.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Violet Chidester, Bonnie Chidester and Wanda Chidester Nethken.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Ellen Mealey Withers Chidester; and by three stepdaughters, Jeannie Lively of Buckhannon, Linda Ward of Buckhannon and Judy Withers of Nanty Glo, Pa. Also surviving are four brothers, Ersel and wife, Norma Jean Chidester, of Canaan, John and Pat Chidester of Rock Cave, Buford and Jane Chidester of Mount Wolfe, Pa., and Roger and Sylvia Chidester of Frederick, Md. One sister, Lois and husband, Lloyd Arbogast, of Buckhannon also survives. Mr. Chidester was survived, also, by four grandchildren. Mr. Chidester was a member and trustee of the Canaan Church. He served three years in the U.S. Army, one of which was spent in Germany. He was a lifelong farmer and retired from Moore Business Forms of Buckhannon with several years of service.

Gladys E. Leitner, 78, of Robinson Township, Pa., passed away July 22, 2008.

She was the wife of the late Paul L. Leitner, and the daughter of the late Carl and Hannah McFarland Hofacker.

She is survived by her children, Paul L Leitner Jr. of Groveton, Pa., Richard A. Leitner of Elkins and Paulette J. Keppler and her husband, Mark, of Apollo, Pa.; and niece, Janet Caldwell and husband, Earl, of Orlando, Fla. Also surviving are five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Family received friends Wednesday and will receive friends today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Copeland Funeral Home, 867 Fifth Ave., Coraopolis, Pa., where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday with the Rev. Versie V. Shamer

Versie Virginia Snyder Shamer, 80, a former resident of the Laurel Mountain Road, Elkins, and more recently, a resident of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life early Wednesday morning, July 23, 2008, in the nursing home.

She was born Sunday, March 18, 1928, at Marlinton, a daughter of the late Ballard Lee Snyder and Ada Mrytal Fetty Snyder.

On Oct. 28, 1944, she was married to Harlen Shamer, who preceded her in death Feb. 7, 1987.

Surviving are six sons, Harlen Shamer and wife, Thelma, Ronald Walters and wife, Louise, Daniel Walters and fiance, Linda, Richard Walters and wife, Loretta, Gary Walters and wife, Martha, and Terry Walters and wife, Elaine; all of Elkins; two daughters, Juanita Hankins of Glen Burnie, Md., and Brenda Salisbury of Elkins; one sister, Louise Larkin of Mabie; 23 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Tucker Love Snyder and Paul D. Snyder; one sister, Dorothy Bolinder; and two granddaughters, Pamela Hankins and Jessica Donegia.

She attended the schools of Randolph County and was an employee of the Elkins Motor Lodge, retiring in 1990. She loved planting flowers, cooking, painting, drawing, playing guitar and taking drives on the back roads of the area.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Friday, July 25, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Virginia L. Ward

Virginia Lee Ward, 80, of Route 1, Volga, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, in Fairmont General Hospital.

She was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Dorfey and Lillie Lantz Smith.

She was united in marriage on March 8, 1952 to John R. Ward Jr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 2003.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Butch (Bernadine) Jack of Route 4, Buckhannon; one son; John R. Ward III and wife, Teresa, of Route 1, Volga; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Goldie Hyre and husband, Roy, of Buckhannon.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, two brothers and three sisters.

David D. Parrack

David Douglas "Pie" Parrack, 52, of Warren, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2008.

He was born Aug. 16, 1955, in Canton, Ohio, to Dalton "Pee-Wee" Parrack and Beth Skinner.

David attended Tygarts Valley High School and later joined the Navy from which he was honorably discharged in 1974.

On July 8, 1989, he was married to Linda Bosley.

David worked as a coal miner operator for several mines including: Carter Roag, Morris, RD and J, Little Robin and Craft Coal Co. After leaving the mines, David moved to Warren, Ohio, with his wife, Linda, where he remained a self-employed mechanic. He was an avid outdoorsman as well.

David was preceded in death by his niece, Miranda Parrack; stepfather, Albert Skinner; father-in-law, Carroll Bennett; brothers-in-law, Butch and Richard Bosley; cousin, Allan Parrack; and uncle, Edwin Parrack.

Survivors include his father, Dalton "Pee-Wee" Parrack and wife, Dottie Parrack, of Mill Creek; mother, Beth Skinner of Dailey; mother-in-law, Lois Bennett of Leavittsburg, Ohio; four brothers, Stephen Parrack and companion, Diane, of Valley Head, Randall and wife, Carolyn Parrack, of Valley Bend, Raynard and wife, Penny, of Monterville and Mark and wife, Rebecca, of Huttonsville; two sisters, Deborah Parrack of Buckhannon and Sherril and husband, Dwayne Ferrell, of Mt. Sterling, Ky,; one stepbrother, Buck and wife, Candy Herron, of Huttonsville; two stepsisters, Lisa Crites and companion, Tim, of Philippi and Dawn Whetzel of Mill Creek; three brothers-in-law, Benny and wife, Peggy Bosley, Stevie Bosley and Bobby Bennett, all of Leavittsburg, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Donna Bosley of Florida, and Peggy Bosley of Leavittsburg, Ohio; son, David and wife, Shauna Tackett, of Valley Bend; daughter, Lois Bosley of Windham, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jake and Riley Tackett and Jazlyn Bosley; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the Runner Funeral Home, 121 Davis St. in Elkins. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Frank Stanley and the Rev. Todd Corley officiating. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery with military honors presented by the H.W. Robert C. England

Robert Chesley England, 78, a resident of Montrose, and more recently a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, July 23, 2008, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

He was born Friday, March 14, 1930, at Belington, a son of the late Chesley England and Zora Ellen Moran England.

On July 3, 1950, at Parsons, he was married to the former Marylou Carr, who preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2006.

Surviving are two sons, Steven Duane England and wife, Patricia, of Concord, Ohio, and Randy Gene England and wife, Lana, of Elkins; two daughters, Connie Lou Gainer and husband, Kevin, of Kerens and Donna Lee Jeffries and husband, Jim, of Montrose; six grandchildren, Stephanie, Kimberly, Cletis, Sarah, Paul and Markie; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kaliegh, Justin, Kelsey, Cherie, Kourtney, Kassidy, Phoenix, Phaison and Tristan.

Preceding him in death was one son, Dennis Lane England; and one sister, Betty Lou Auvil

He was a graduate of Belington High School with the class of 1949, was a veteran of the U.S. Army, had worked for General Electric in Ohio, and was a staff sergeant for Company B, 53rd Battalion, Ft. Hayes, Ohio, for the Ohio Defense Corps for which he received a citation from the governor of the state of Ohio. He had worked for Elkins Limestone, for the J.F. Allen Co. and for Black Rock as a superintendent at Clarksburg and Pavex, Fla. He was a truck driver for Larry Strader Trucking for several years from which he retired. He was a member of the Refuge Church at Gilman, the National Asphalt Paving Association and was an avid hunter. He loved the Lord, and his family was his life. He treasured his relationship with the friends and staff at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins. Doris I. Knotts

Dora Isabelle Nestor Knotts, 87, a resident of the Leadmine Road, St. George, departed this life early Friday morning, July 25, 2008, at her home. She had been in declining health.

She was born Monday, Jan. 31, 1921, at Bull Run, a daughter of the late John D. Nestor and Minnie Fortney Nestor.

On Jan. 11, 1939, at Parsons, she was married to Eston Carlton Knotts, who preceded her in death in August of 1979.

Surviving are four sons, Dale Keith Knotts and wife, Penny, and Delvin Charles Knotts, all of the Leadmine Road, St. George, Steven Robert Knotts and wife, Bonnie, of Location Road, St. George, and Ralph Lester Knotts and wife, Emma Ann, of Falls Church, Va.; one brother, Carl Otis Nestor of Baltimore; three grandchildren, Jennifer Douglas, Kellie Knotts and Dana Ellamore; three stepgrandchildren, Cindee Campbell, Wendy Nedrow and Scott Hebb; seven great-grandchildren, Ryan, Shane, Jacob, Cole, Brian, Gauge and Gavin; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Coty, Nicholas and Kaylee; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were one son, Allen Duane Knotts; three brothers, Delbert Nestor, Elmer Nestor and an infant brother; and five sisters, Holly Mae Clark, Rosetta Knotts, Stella Phillips, Gertrude Groves and an infant sister.

She attended the one-room school at Bull Run. She was a homemaker and she loved to garden, embroidery and crochet.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons. Final rites will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 28, at the funeral home parlor.
