Nina R. Radabaugh

Mrs. Nina Rae Row Radabaugh, 68, a resident of 414 Hice St. in Belington, went home to be reunited with her loving husband, Pete, at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2007, at her home following a short illness.

She was born May 15, 1939, at Junior, a daughter of the late Raymond Francis and Nina Freeman Row.

On Oct. 30, 1959, she was united in marriage to Derl Leslie “Pete” Radabaugh, who preceded in death on March 14, 2006.

Surviving are two sons, Derl Radabaugh Jr. of Indiana, and James Radabaugh and wife, Gena, of Columbus Ohio; and three daughters, Jannie Ward and husband, Ken, of Amma, Patti Plymire and husband, Homer, of Jewett, Ohio, and Diane Carter of Belington. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Joshua Radabaugh, Kristan Carter, Bobbi Plymire, Katie Plymire, James Radabaugh Jr., Nina Ward, Nia Radabaugh, and Sherry Wyman; and six great-grandchildren, Brandon Hollaway Jr., Elijha Holloway, Camryn Bailey, Armania Holloway, Asa Bailey and Alisha Garret. Additional survivors include two brothers, Ray Row Jr. and wife, May, and Barry Lynn Row and wife, Shelby; one sister, Bernice Williams and husband, Marshall; stepmother, Bertha C. Row; and two sisters-in-law, Karen Oldaker and Jeretta Biller.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Briona Holloway.

Mrs. Radabaugh was a 1958 graduate of the Belington High School and a graduate of the Akron Practical School of Nursing. Mrs Radabaugh worked for 25 years in the Akron area as a licensed practical nurse until her retirement. She was a member of Weaver Church of the Nazarene and was a loving and gracious wife, mother and homemaker.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, and on Saturday until 11 a.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Radcliffe Sr.

Kenneth Lee Radcliffe Sr., 62, of Little Hacker’s Creek Road, Route 3, Philippi, died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at his home, following an extended illness.

He was born Jan. 21, 1945, at Petersburg, a son of the late Daniel Mann and Geraldine Cecelia (Smith) Radcliffe.

Survivors include one daughter, Angelia Phillips and husband, Michael Scott, of Belington; two sons, Kenneth Lee Radcliffe Jr., and wife, Christy, of Elkins and Daniel Allen Radcliffe and wife, Jessica, of Mill Creek; one brother, Donald Radcliffe of Colonial Heights, Va.; one sister, Deanne Brown of Prince George, Va.; and five grandchildren, Kerrie Lee, Autumn Phillips, Jayda Scott, Saige Scott and Brady Jada Radcliffe.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, David Mann Radcliffe Jr.

Mr. Radcliffe was retired from Allied Chemical Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was an avid Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 13, from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main Street, Philippi. The Rev. David Brown will officiate and interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery.

Kenneth Radcliffe Sr.

Ronald Radcliff Sr.

Ronald I. Radcliff Sr., 66, of Rt. 1, French Creek, died Monday, July 23, 2007, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

He was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pa.

He was united in marriage Jan. 1, 1990, to Patricia D. Gallagher, who survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Ronald Radcliff Jr. and David Radcliff, both of Burlington, N.J.; two stepsons, David Hughes of Franklinville, N.J., and Ronald Hughes of Rapid City, S.D.; two stepdaughters, Jeanette Hughes of Foster City, N.J., and Loretta Hughes of French Creek; and 10 grandchildren.

Mr. Radcliff had a real love for music.

The family will receive friends at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. A mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.  From 25 Jul 2007.

John P. Raeder

At 5:35 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, retired Gunnery Sgt. John Raeder joined God’s foot soldiers. His final battle was fought at home against cancer. 

He was born Sept. 23, 1954, in Philadelphia, Pa., a son of the late William Alexander Raeder and Ruth Ella Muir Raeder who survives in Haden Heights, N.J.     On Dec. 17, 1986, he was married to Maude Buck, who survives in Elkins.

He is survived by three sons, William Lee Buck III of Leland, N.C., Joshua Jerome Raeder of Elkins and Matthew Jackson Raeder of Goldsboro, N.C.; two daughters, Melina Dawn Bettis of Belington and Dorie Catherine Raeder of Elkins; two sisters, Ruthann Mitchum of Texas and Peggy Anne Clements of Marlton, N.J. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Alexander Raeder Jr. and Edward H. Raeder. 

Mr. Raeder was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps having retired at the rank of gunnery sergeant. He served with the Marine Corps in Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield, and following retirement, was employed at Bruce Hardwood until becoming ill. He was a member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars, a foster parent and a member of the Nazarene Church.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Angie Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for John Paul Raeder. Violet T. Raikes

Violet Tressie Raikes, 90, of Rock Cave, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.

She was born July 5, 1917, at Canaan, a son of the late Parley Harrison Strader and Effie Gay Haymond Strader.

She is survived by her husband, Bland Raikes of Rock Cave.

Also surviving are one son, Roger B. Raikes of Rock Cave; two daughters, Susan Post and husband, Kevin, of Hodgesville and Robin Chidester and husband, Dale, of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Kelvin Post of Hodgesville and Dustin Chidester of Buckhannon; two granddaughters, Ieshya Claypool and husband, Russell, of Hodgesville and Miranda Chidester of Elkins; two great-grandsons, Damien Claypool and Ashton Post of Hodgesville; one stepgreat-grandson, Chace Cogar of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Dowell; and one brother, Ted Strader.

She was a homemaker and Methodist by faith.

Bobbie L. Raines

Bobbie Leonard Raines, 70, of Cherry Grove, died Monday, March 26, 2007, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Danielle M. Raines

Danielle Marie Raines, 20, of Harman, died June 17, 2007.

She was born May 25, 1987, at Elkins, a daughter of Jerry Lynn and Jennie Lou Bennett Raines, who survive in Harman.

Also surviving are paternal grandparents, Jerry and Lorraine Raines of Onego; maternal grandparents, Russ and Jean Arbogast of Harman and the late Herman L. Bennett of Onego; one aunt, Jenny and Dale Tingler of Onego; three uncles, Casey and Jennifer Raines and David and Grace Bennett, all of Onego, and Todd and Cathy Raines of Harman; loving cousins, Peyton, Katie “Bug,” Megan, Dawson, Cheyenne, Hannah, Lacy, Chris, CJ and Jessica; and her special pet dog, “Sissy.”

Danielle loved the outdoors. She rode horses and hunted deer and “coon” with her friends and family. Scrapbooking was also a favorite pastime along with spending time with her cousins. During her high school days, she was homecoming queen and served as queen over Autumn on the Dryfork. She was editor of the Harman High School yearbook and graduated in 2005. She was a former member of Harman High Climber 4-H Club and a member of Randolph County Regional Riding Club.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Dry Fork Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at the church with the Rev. Harry W. Raines

Harry Wayne Raines, 60, of Riverton, died June 21, 2007, at his residence after a two-year battle with lung cancer.

He was born Nov. 6, 1946, at Cherry Grove, North Dry Run, a son of of the late Harry Raines and Mildred L. Brown Raines, who survives at Circleville.

He was married to Betty Louise Cook Raines, who survives at Riverton.

Also surviving are one stepdaughter, Angel Goldizen of Moorefield; one son, Jeremy Raines of Franklin; one stepson, Chad Hinkle of Petersburg; two granddaughters, Michaela and Larissa Raines; one sister, Lucy Elaine Vandevander of Monterey, Va.; and three brothers, Larry Sheldon Raines of Seneca Rock, Dennis Lee Raines of Circleville and Harry Everly Raines of Franklin.

He worked in construction as a concrete finisher. He graduated from Circleville High School in 1966 and was a member of North Fork Baptist Church. He had served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam.

Family received friends Friday at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today from the chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Mark McAllister officiating. Interment will follow in North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton where Pendleton County Veterans Honor Guard will present military graveside services. Mildred D. Ramby, 81, of Harrisonburg, Va., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, in Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

Bob Lee Ramsey

Bob L. Ramsey

Bob Lee Ramsey, 68, a resident of St. George, departed this life late Wednesday evening, Nov. 7, 2007, surrounded by family, at his home. Death was attributed to cancer.

He was born on Monday, May 15, 1939, at Parsons, the son of the late Charles Lee Ramsey and Eunice Gay Baker Ramsey. 
On Sept. 13, 1958, at Oakland, Md., he was united in marriage to the former Arlene Grace Knotts, who survives.   They had celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Also surviving are two sons, Terry Lynn Ramsey and wife, Sherry Lynn, of Morgantown and Kevin Scott Ramsey and Deborah Lynn Watring of Leadmine; two granddaughters, Haley Miriah and Jayden Paige Ramsey of Morgantown; two stepgranddaughters, Marcy Kay Stone of St. George and Jordan Leigh Alkire of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one son, Robert Neil Ramsey; two brothers, Jack and Bill Ramsey; and three sisters, Eloine McClain, Mary Lee Irvin and Jean Wade.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1957, of which he was well known for his athletic ability in basketball. He worked as a supervisor at the Armour Leather Co. until its closing. He was retired from Consol Coal Co., Potomac Mine and was a member of United Mine Workers Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and took great pride in his hunting dogs and the companionship of his fellow hunters. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. His granddaughters were the joy of his life.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Sunday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. Pastor Robert Leard will officiate and interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery at Holly Meadows. James Ramsey

Mr. James Ramsey, 91, a resident of Nella’s Inc. in Elkins and a former resident of Norfolk, Va., and Winchester Va., departed this life at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins.

He was born Sept. 10, 1915, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Gilbert “Bud” Price Ramsey and Almara Currence Ramsey. On Sept. 22, 1938, he was united in marriage to the former Margurite Scott, who preceded him in death on June 7, 1982.

Mr. Ramsey is survived by two sons, James E. Ramsey of Winchester, Va., and David Ramsey of Norfolk, Va.; and five daughters, Carolyn Sirk of Clarksburg, Myrtle Maund of Yale, Va., Joyce L. White of Canton, Ohio, Virginia Clifford of Norfolk, Va., and Patricia Graham of Greentown, Ohio. Also, surviving are one sister, Ruth Hicks of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Mildred Ramsey and Ruth M. Litchfield; and seven siblings.

Mr. Ramsey attended the schools of Randolph County and was self-employed as a painter by trade and he was a member of Memorial Mission Church of Mill Creek.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday July 13, at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Norfolk, Va., with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will then follow. Jean L. Ramsey

Jean Louise Anderson Ramsey, 78, of Sabraton Ave., Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Aug, 27, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 12, 1928, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Charles and Helen Goss Anderson.

She worked at the Morgan Shirt Factory and retired after 25 years of service as a pattern maker. She also was a member of the Easton Avery CEOS and the Eastern Stars.

She is survived by a son, Greg Ramsey of Morgantown; a sister, Helen Susan Boring of Buckhannon; sister-in-law, Ruby Anderson of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Lee Ramsey; brother, James W. Anderson; and her infant brother, Buddy.

Family and friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.

Sandra K. Rankin

Sandra K. Rankin, 61, of Parma, Ohio, formerly of Frank, passed away Friday, June 29, 2007, in Cleveland Clinic.

Born July 24, 1945, at Frank, she was a daughter of the late Bard and Hallie May Moats Rankin.

She was of the Brethren faith and was retired from New York Life Insurance Co.

In addition to her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by two brothers, William Rankin and Arthur Ray Rankin.

Surviving are six sisters, Pearl Roy of Elkins, Janette Shears of Harrisonburg, Va., Bonnie Rankin of Maple Heights, Ohio, Ruth Haddox of Madison, Ohio, Roberta Poling of Kearneysville and Nina Rankin of Parma, Ohio; one brother, Frank Rankin of Geneva, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Rector

Elizabeth Hill “Beth” Rector, 49, a resident of Beverly, departed this life Monday evening, Nov. 26, 2007, at the Davis Memorial Hospital.

She was born Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1958, at Elkins, a daughter of the late John E. B. Rector and Margaret Cox Rector, who survives at Elkins.

Also surviving are one brother, John “Jay” Rector and wife, Deborah, of Elkins; one aunt, Dorothy Cox Taylor of Elkins; two uncles, Dr. Thomas Cox and wife, Mildred, of Elkins and William Rector and wife, Margaret, of Omaha, Neb.; and first cousins, Dr. Nancy Taylor of Morgantown, John Cox of Raleigh, N.C., Susie Cox Raezer and husband, George, of Mountain Home, Idaho, Barbara Seaman and husband, Dr. David, of Statesboro, Ga., Elizabeth Sellars and husband, Butch, Virginia Krueger and husband, Mark, Gary Ryman and wife, Karen, and William Ryman, all of Texas.

Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Jacob Albert and Bernice Knutti Cox; her paternal grandparents, William H. and Ruth Rohrbaugh Rector; and one aunt, Sarah Ann Ryman.

Beth attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1976, where she was a member of the Tiger Marching Band, Tri-Hi-Y and the National Honor Society. She was a graduate of Marshall University with the class of 1981 with a degree in elementary education. She had served as a princess in both the Mountain State Forest Festival and the West Virginia Strawberry Festival.

Beth started her teaching career in 1981 at Pickens School. She then transferred to North Elementary School where she taught for 22 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Beth brought humor and was known to bring laughter to any gathering she attended. She enjoyed being around children and had a special love for them. Her main interests after teaching was anything craft related and her pets.

Anthony J. Reed

Anthony Jarvis “A.J.” Reed, 18, a resident of the Jonestown Road near Belington, went home to be with the Lord at 8:15 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007, at his home.

He was born Feb. 5, 1989, at Morgantown, a son of Charles Edward and Vicki Lynne Fitzwater Reed, who survive at Belington.

A.J is also survived by one brother, Charles “Mickey” Reed; and one, sister, Susan Pomp, both of Belington; one nephew, Travis Pomp; and two nieces, Brooke Pomp and Kelsi Reed. Also surviving are his aunts and uncles, Randall Fitzwater of Philippi, Beverly Hardy of Clarksburg and Katrina and Doug Meadows of Maryland; several cousins; and special neighbors, Richard and Jackie Jones.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Helen Fitzwater.

He was a junior at Philip Barbour High School, a member and participant of Barbour County Special Olympics and a member of Faithway Baptist Church. A.J. enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “Knight Rider” movies, and cruising town in his General Lee. He was a kind hearted person who would bring a smile to everyone he met.

Donna Kay Kerns Reed, 56, a resident of Montrose, departed this life late Sunday evening, Nov. 11, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been failing health for several years, and death was attributed to heart failure.

She was born Sunday, July 8, 1951, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Delanis “Dane” Warren Kerns and Elizabeth Guibord Kerns.

On Jan. 1, 1970, at Parsons, she was married to Sylvanus Reed Jr., who survives at Montrose.

Also surviving are one daughter, Donna June Reed of Montrose; one granddaughter, Lydia Marie Reed of Montrose; one brother, C. Kenny Kerns and wife, Sherry, Elkins; three sisters, Patricia Pierce of Montrose, Joann Kerns of New Hampshire, and Norma Jean Kerns; and two special nephews, David Pierce and Bradley Kerns, both of Montrose.

Preceding her in death were one daughter Cindy Lou Reed; and her foster mother who raised her, Hazel Wiles Soult.

Donna was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1970, and she worked as a certified nurses’ assistant for the Tucker County Senior Center for several years until becoming disabled. She enjoyed making various baked goods and collecting hummingbirds.

Eva Kathleen Reed, 90, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, in United Hospital Center at Clarksburg.

She was born May 28, 1917, at Sago, a daughter of the late Frank Casto and Veva Tenney Casto.

On Aug. 25, 1935, she was married to Dana Reed, who preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1989.

Surviving are three sons. Clifford Reed and wife, Arlene, Richard Reed and Ronald Reed and wife, Joyce, all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Wilma Jean Posey and husband, Wayne, of Hereford, Ariz., and Carolyn Sue Pick and husband, Paul, of Harrisonburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Armillis Reese of Buckhannon.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Arnold Casto and Oliver Casto; and two sisters, Ethleen Black and Pauline Lane.

She was a homemaker and attended Sago Baptist Church.

Janie Jeanette Reed, 65, a resident of Beverly, passed away Sept. 1, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a sudden illness.

She was born June 24, 1942, at Beverly, a daughter of Cletus and Sylvia Simmons Hinkle.

She was twice married. First to Donald Perry Phillips, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Joe Reed, who survives.

Surviving are a son, Scott Phillips of Beverly; one daughter, Christina Harris of Raleigh, N.C.; three brothers, Charles Hinkle of East Dailey, James Hinkle of Lenior, N.C., and Fred Hinkle of Beverly; a sister, Leona “Lee” Solon of Beverly; three grandchildren, Colby Phillips, C.K. Harris and Nick Reed; two stepgrandchildren, Crystal and Nicole Harris; and a great-grandson, Joshua Reynolds.

One brother, Woody Hinkle, also preceded her in death.

Janie attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a cook at Elkins Motor Lodge.

Hazel Reeder

Hazel Maude Lowther Reeder, 88, of 572 Buckhannon Run Road, Buckhannon, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007, in Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Jane Lew following an extended illness.

She was born in Wildcat, Lewis County, on Jan. 7, 1919, a daughter of the late Jesse Lowther and Georgia (Mahon) Lowther.

On Nov. 3, 1940, she married W. Howard Reeder, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Helen Jones of Harrisville and one son, Randall Reeder and wife, Margaret, of Columbus, Ohio. Hazel is also survived by four grandchildren, Dr. Mark Reeder and wife, Susan, Marcia George and husband, Don, and Matthew and Jonathan Jones; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and six great-granddaughters. She is also survived by one brother, Carl Lowther of Wildcat; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Reeder was preceded in death by one son, Ralph Reeder; one brother, Dr. Conley Lowther; and one son-in-law, Willis Jones.

Mrs. Reeder was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church of Buckhannon Run. Hazel was a graduate of Walkersville High School, where she was salutatorian. In 1940, she graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College of Buckhannon. She was a homemaker and elementary teacher, where she was testing coordinator for three counties and was an ESEA teacher.

Hazel was a 50-year member of the Berlin CEOS Club, West Virginia Wesleyan Emeritus Club, the former Teacher’s Association and the Lewis County Retired Employees. She was a member of the East Lewis Lions Club, where she was awarded the Leonard Jarrett Award, the Lions Club’s highest award in West Virginia. Hazel also received the Strathmore’s Who’s Who in Educational Achievement and was a lifetime member of the West Virginia University Alumni Association. One of her nicest awards was being selected Lewis County Citizen of the Year in 1970.

Surviving are one son, Earl Edgell and wife, Martha, of Buckhannon; two daughters, Janet Stump and husband, Ted, of Buckhannon and Alicia of Texas; 12 grandchildren; and two brothers, Johnnie Adams of Virginia, and Charles David Adams of Ohio.

Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Arah Moloney; five brothers, James Adams, Gail Adams, Garlton Adams, Arlton Adams and Dennis Adams; and one sister, Cosby Hollinger.

She was a homecare worker and member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles, Moose and Veterans of Foreign Wars of Buckhannon.

Christopher Brion Reeser, 14, of Green Bank, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2007, at home.

Christopher was born June 5, 1992, at Bridgeton, Mo., to Victoria Lynne Taylor and the late John Reeser.

Christopher was a student at Green Bank Elementary Middle School and was a Boy Scout of America with Troop 112.

Other than his father, Christopher was preceded in death by his uncle, Brion Taylor; and maternal grandfather, William Lyle Taylor.

Foreman William “Bill” Reger, 81, of 6 Thurman Ave., Buckhannon, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007, in Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 16, 1926, at Wendel, a son of the late William McKinley Reger and Eva Blanche Reed Reger.

On Aug. 22, 1974, he was married to Patricia L. McDaniels Reger, who survives at Buckhannon.

Also surviving are five daughters, Nancy Jones and husband, James, of Buckhannon, Brenda Syrek and husband, Ed, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Francine Love of Buckhannon, Jacqueline Fuller and husband, Marc, of Buckhannon and Amy Suzanne Reger of Buckhannon; one son, Bobby Reger and wife, Darlene, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; three granddaughters, Deon Hoover of Buckhannon, Hanna Reger of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Leah Fuller of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Bobby Lee Reger Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Matthew Fuller of Buckhannon; and four great-grandsons, Tommy Boone Jr., Nicholas Hoover, Zach Hoover and Mikey Hoover, all of Buckhannon.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reger was preceded in death by his first wife, Berdina (Veith) Reger; three daughters, Doris Jean Reger, Charlotte Casto and Mary Jane Reger; one son, Billy Ray Reger; two brothers, Parley Glenn “Bob” Reger and Gerald Reger; and two granddaughters, Mary Jo Reger and Leanne Wodzinski.

Mr. Reger was a veteran of World War II, having served in the 8th Calvary. He occupied Japan and the Asian Pacific Campaign. He was a member of Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars 3663, life member of French Creek Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans, Knight of Pythias, DOKK of Clarksburg and was a volunteer for the VA Medical Center.

He was a truck driver for Inter City Transport and Motor Co. and attended the Church of God.

Orvil S. Reger

Orvil S. Reger, 74, of Rock Cave, Pleasant Dale Community, died at his home Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007.

He was born Oct. 31, 1932, in Upshur County, a son of the late Emery and Cordie Reger.

He is survived by his wife, Leevern McKisic Reger, whom he married June 2, 1957.

Also surviving are five sisters, Genevieve Bunner of Rock Cave, Maxine Sayre of Holly Grove, Madeline Hosaflook of Buckhannon, Goldie Tinsley of Scott Depot and Ada Tenney of Canal Fulton, Ohio; two brothers, Guy Burnell Reger of Mansfield, Ohio, and Loyal Reger of Queen Anne, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Waldo Reger and Ernie Reger.

Mr. Reger owned and operated a Gulf service station in Buckhannon for several years, and was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was a member of American Legion Post 148. He had a great passion for the care of Pleasant Dale Cemetery and served proudly for many years as a trustee. Mr. Reger was a Protestant by faith.

Katherine E. “Jean” Reilly, 85, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

She was born Monday, May 16, 1921, at Coalton, a daughter of the late William Reilly and Lillie Watts Reilly. Surviving are one brother, Phillip Reilly of Warren, Ohio; a special nephew, Buck Reilly of Elkins; a special niece, Alice Phillips of Mansfield, Ohio; three great-nephews, Leo Patrick and Phillip B. Reilly, both of Elkins, and Bill Reilly of Mansfield, Ohio; and a great-niece, Tiffany Phillips of Mansfield, Ohio.

Preceding her in death were two sisters and three brothers.

She had worked for Nella’s Nursing Home for 25 years.

Mr. Rexrode was born March 7, 1941, at Durbin, the son of the late Ben E. and Shirley Jane Teter Rexrode.

June was a logger and truck driver for Grimes Enterprises and attended Calvary Gospel

He was also preceded in death by by his brothers, Jack, Terry, James Randolph and infant twins.

Surviving are his wife, Genevieve “Jenny” Snyder Rexrode of Durbin; three sons, Chuck Rexrode and Traci of Durbin, Duwane Rexrode and Melissa of Durbin and Ronnie Rexrode and Loretta of Durbin; three sisters, Donna and the late Willie Nelson of Bartow; Diana and Danny Sheets of Green Bank and Deborah Lynn and Robert Wegman of Frank; one brother, Danny and Amber Rexrode of Durbin; 10 grandchildren; and five stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Charles Edward Rhodes, 75, formerly of Davis, passed away Feb. 2, 2007, in Nella’s Nursing Home of Elkins.

He was born July 30, 1931, at Oakmont, a son of the late Henry Harrison Rhodes and Laura Alta Paugh Rhodes.

He is survived by one brother, Joseph Thomas Rhodes of Charlottesville, Va.; and one sister, Cora Barlow of Tunnelton.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Richard, Dorsey, Robert and Glen Rhodes; and two sisters, Marcella Paugh and Phyllis Shepherd.

Mr. Rhodes was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean Conflict. He was Protestant by faith.

He was born Wednesday, May 12, 1920, at Wymer, a son of the late Charles Oley Rhodes and Lena Waybright Rhodes.

He is survived by two sons, Marvin Rhodes and Ronald Rhodes and wife, Mary Ann; two daughters, Bertha Higgs and Phyllis Love and husband, Jimmy; eight brothers, Charles, Raymond, Earl, Forrest, Willie, Harry, Ralph and Ronald; nine sisters, Louemma, Faye, Marie, Margie, Wretha, Alice, Emma Jean, Roseann and Retta; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Richard Lairl Rice, 75, of Buckhannon, died Friday, June 15, 2007, at his home.

He was born May 26, 1932, at Tallmansville, the son of the late Dewey A. Rice and Nina M. Carter Rice.

On Sept. 2, 1951, he was married to Lois Jean Armstrong Rice, who survives in Buckhannon.

Also surviving are three sons, Jerry W. Rice of Charleston, Richard L. Rice of Brownhill, Pa., and Randy G. Rice of Tallmansville; three granddaughters, Erinn Rice of West Virginia, Erica Rice and Christan Marie Bailey; three grandsons, R.W. Rice, Richard D. Rice and Randy Neal Rice; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Vera Hornbeck of Tallmansville; and one nephew, Steven Hornbeck of Tallmansville.

He was a self-employed electrician and attended Way of Holiness Church at Buckhannon. He was a member of Buckhannon Volunteer Fire Department and Upshur County EMS.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Mt. Carmel Church Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Murrell and Kevin Hanifan officiating. Interment will follow. Lynda L. Ricottilli

Lynda Lou Lantz Ricottilli, 66, a resident of Mountain View Drive, Elkins, departed this life Wednesday morning, Aug. 22, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.

She was born Friday, March 7, 1941 at Lantz, Randolph County, a daughter of the late Clark Lee Lantz and Alma Williams Lantz.

During April of 1958, she was married to Tony Ricottilli, who preceded her in death Oct. 25, 1998.

Surviving are one son, Melvin Jeffery Ricottilli and companion, Marsha Seiffert, of Marlinton; one daughter, Brenda Kay Dilley and husband, William, of Dunmore; three sisters, Clara Bell Poling of Easley, N.C., Anna Dell Ratliff of Buckhannon and Betty Sturm of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Eric Scott Ricottilli, Justin Michael Dilley and Toni Giovanna Dilley; and her godson, Michael Ricottilli.

Preceding her in death were six brothers, Arthur L., Roscoe Herbert, George “Dill,” Donald, Clifford and Calvin “Mike” Lantz; and two sisters, Wilda Taylor and Myrtle “Dolly” Hedrick.

Lynda attended the school at Ellamore and had worked as co-owner along with her husband of Tony Ricottilli Rustic Fence Inc. She was a member and past president of Pocahontas Memorial Auxiliary, was a member of the Old Hen Club and a member of Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was an avid sportsman, enjoyed hunting and was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church.

Margaret L. Riegel

Margaret Lola Riegel, 86, a resident of Charlotte, N.C., and a former resident of Philippi, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2007, in Mecklenburg Health Care Center in Charlotte, N.C.

She was born Nov. 8, 1920, at Carnegie, Pa., a daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (Kane) Seibel.

She was united in marriage Nov. 10, 1958 to Frank J. Riegel, who preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1997.

Surviving are two daughters, Peggy and husband, Tony Graham, of Charlotte, N.C., and Janet and husband, Eddie England, of Weston; two brothers, Don Seibel of Keyser and Fran Seibel of Little Washington, Pa.; and two grandchildren, Michael and Joseph England.

Mrs. Riegel was preceded in death by two sisters, Elda and Rita Seibel; and one brother, Leo Seibel.

Mrs. Riegel worked at Broaddus Hospital as an insurance clerk and was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.

Betty J. Riffle

Betty J. Riffle, 65, of Weston, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston.

She was born June 16, 1942, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Charles Beckner and Reva Robinson Beckner.

On July 27, 1990, she was married to Paul James Riffle, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy Rosenberger and husband, Mike, of Lansdale, Pa., and Sandra Alkire of Weston; two sons, Charles Timothy Beckner and wife, Diana, of Weston and James Edward Riffle of Weston; three brothers, Danny Beckner of Buckhannon, Jim Beckner of Hodgesville and David Beckner of Buckhannon; seven sisters, Connie Canter of Hodgesville, Nancy Durant of Buckhannon, Sherry Posey of Ohio, Linda Mealey of Buckhannon, Karen Nethken of Ellamore, Hazel Whitley of Ohio and Rita Buss of Martinsburg; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ricky Beckner, Billy Beckner and Leonard Beckner; and one sister, Dorothy Beckner.

She was a homemaker and attended Victory Assembly of God.

Ada Mae Riley, 75, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2007, at her home.

She was born Jan. 15, 1932, at Shinnston, a daughter of the late Tom Teets and Opal Eskew Teets.

On May 18, 1950, she was married to Richard J. Riley, who survives in Buckhannon.

Also surviving are two daughters, Janet Smith and husband, Burl, of Buckhannon and Regina Bertsch and husband, Kerry, of Broussard, La.; two sons, Richard J. Riley II and wife, Cheryl, of French Creek and Tom Riley and wife, Annie, of Kesling Mill; and one sister, June Patterson of Buckhannon; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Christina Kaull; two sons, Rodney Riley and Terry Riley; two sisters, Ester Adams and Kathleen Kohli; and one brother, Darrell Teets.

She was a homemaker and attended Liberty Baptist Church.

George H. Riley

George Henry Riley, 100, a resident of Cleveland, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, in Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon.

He was born April 25, 1907, at Kanawha Head, a son of the late James and Hulda Smith Riley.

He was married to Edna Fisher Riley, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are three nephews, Robert Wyatt of Cleveland, George Wyatt of Wildcat and Everett Wyatt of Crawford; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Mr. Riley was a Baptist by faith and a farmer.

L. Vernon Robinson

L. Vernon Robinson, 92, a long-time resident of Arlington, Va., died Saturday, May 19, 2007, in Annandale, Va. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

He was born Sept. 11, 1915, at Ellamore, the youngest child of David and Ulana Robinson of Heavner Grove near Buckhannon.

On Dec. 11, 1936, he was married to the former Olene Lane of Buckhannon, who survives in Annandale. They recently celebrated 70 years of marriage.

He is also survived by one son, David Robinson and wife, Lynn, of Arlington, Va.; and two grandsons, Taylor and James Robinson.

Mr. Robinson is also survived by several nieces and nephews in the Elkins-Buckhannon area, including Tharon Jack and wife, Judy, Sharon Jack McQuain and Doris Jack, all of Elkins, Beverly George and husband, Don, of Coalton, Jerry Burke and wife, Janet, of Petersburg, Thomas Robinson and wife, JoEllen, of Baltimore, Md., and William Robinson of Baltimore, Md. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Audrey G. Jack and Iyone Burke; one brother, Garland B. Robinson; and two nephews, Alvin R. Jack and L. Wayne Jack..

He graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School and served as a Spec. 3, private first class in the U.S. Army during World War II. He owned and operated Lane’s Mower Service in Arlington, Va., for more than 20 years until his retirement. He was an active member of Saint Mark’s EUB Church in Arlington, Va., and the Civitan community organization.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Murphy’s Funeral Home in Arlington, Va. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 26. Maurice Robinson

Maurice G. Robinson entered into rest Tuesday evening, Nov. 6, 2007, in Valley Nursing Home in Boardman, Ohio, after a short illness.

He was born Aug. 14, 1920, at Buckhannon, a son of the late Nelson and Evalena Preisse Robinson.

During World War II, Mr. Robinson was employed at Ravenna Arsenal. After the war, he was employed by American Standard and Mullins Manufacturing, until each plant closed. He retired from Copperweld Steel after working 19 years, where he was affectionately known as “Curly.” Mr. Robinson was a race car enthusiast and, in his younger years, competed in car racing at the Canfield Race Track.

He enjoyed hunting and was the proud owner of a gun collection. In his later years, he enjoyed watching sporting events on TV, especially his favorite Pittsburgh Steelers. His greatest love was his family. He loved to tell everyone about his five daughters and how very proud he was of his family. He never met a stranger, and anyone who knew him loved him. He made many friends throughout his life, and his friendships continued during his residence at Shepherd of the Valley. Mr. Robinson’s family will be eternally grateful and blessed by the loving care, friendship and devotion given him during his stay at Shepherd of the Valley. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend; an all around great guy who will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by five daughters, Conet Hawes, Judy Culp, Beverly Lee, Joyce Malagisi and Debra Sudon; a sister, Ruth Montgomery; a brother, Charles Watts; 11 grandchildren, including his beloved grandson, Evan; many great-grandchildren and loving nieces and nephews; and many extended family members and friends. He was blessed to have many friends at Nay’s Chapel in Buckhannon, all of who kept in touch with loving cards and prayers.

Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Aerouana Mae and Vera Maxine; and three brothers, “Boots,” Darrell and Kenna.

Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Monica Jane Robinson, 72, of Erlanger, Ky., formerly of Elkins died Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center South.

She was born at Princeton, the daughter of the late Jake S. and Margaret Skidmore Miller.

She is survived by her husband, John M. Robinson Sr. of Erlanger, Ky.; three daughters, Marry Goebel, Margaret Robinson and Monica Robinson, all of Erlanger, Ky.; three sons, John M. Robinson Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio, Sam Robinson of Bellevue, Ky., and Tom Robinson of Petersburg, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carole Kellerman.

She was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Burlington, Ky..

Her body will be cremated.

Sally Catherine Roby, 78, of Red Knob Road, Buckhannon, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

She was born March 22, 1929, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late George and Nora Mealy Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Burton Roby, who died in 1978.

She is survived by a loving companion and friend, Odbert Hoover. She is also survived by two sons, William E. and wife, Cindy Roby, of Buckhannon and Larry and wife, Teresa Roby, of Henderson, Ky.; four grandchildren, Kailyn and Courtney Roby and Tug and Tiffany Roby; three brothers, Richard and John Lewis, both of Selbyville and James Lewis of Buckhannon.

She was preceded in death by one stepson, Clarence "Bud" Roby, who died in 1979; three brothers; and one sister.

Mrs. Roby was a member of the South Buckhannon Mission Church.

Louise Rorabaugh

Louise “Lillian” Rorabaugh, 94, formerly of Ashland Avenue, Punxsutawney, Pa., died Nov. 5, 2007, in AM/PM Personal Care Home at DeLancey, Pa.

She was born Sept. 25, 1913, at Bradford, Pa., a daughter of the late Anthony Valone and Ella Reilly Valone.

On June 28, 1947, she was married to James A. Rorabaugh, who preceded her in death Dec. 16, 2004.

Surviving are two daughters, Ginger Momyer and husband, George, of Punxsutawney, Pa., and Suzan Sayres and husband, James, of Elkins; four grandchildren, Michael Momyer and wife, Jennifer, of Punxsutawney, Pa., Tricia Sacco and husband, Louis, of Homer City, Pa., Byron Sayres and wife, Sarah, of Bridgeport and Sheena Sayres of Elkins; three great-grandchildren, Alex Momyer, Madison Momyer and Olivia Sayres; and one sister, Anthonene MacNamara of Jamestown, N.Y.

Also preceding her in death, was her stepfather.

She was a graduate of Altoona High School and a graduate of Altoona Hospital in 1936 as a registered nurse. She was a registered nurse in Adrian Hospital and Punxsutawney Area Hospital and had worked as a nurse in Altoona, New York City, Pittsburgh and Clearfield, Pa. She had been a secretary for the Groundhog Festival Committee, member of the committee to organize Candy Strippers and Helping Hands at Punxsutawney Hospital, a former member of Nurses Club and Study Club, a 50-year member of Daughters of the American Revolution, active on the Cancer Society board, volunteer for Red Cross Bloodmobile for 25 years and was a nurse at Grier School for Girls for several years.

Friends will be received at Deeley Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kent E. Lester R. Ross

Lester Robert Ross, 61, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 7, 2007, in Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was born Oct. 1, 1945, at Greensboro, Pa., a son of the late Joseph H.J. Ross and Mamie Hilda Bennett Ross.

On May 15, 1976, at Elkins, he was married to the former Linda Louise Barb, who survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Henry Isenhart and wife, Angie, and Michael Isenhart, all of Elkins and Charles “Chuck” Isenhart and wife, Candee, of Delvin, Wis.; three daughters, Cheryl Jerome and husband, Byron, of Tacoma, Wash., Barbara Storey and husband, Charley, and Susan Haller and husband, Eric, all of Elkins. Two brothers, Thomas Ross and wife, Pam, of Elkins and John Ross and wife, Jeanie, of Harrisonburg, Va.; three sisters, Katherine Collins and husband, Velair, of Elkins, Belinda Weese and husband, Tom, of Beverly and Marilyn N. Draughn and husband, Brian, of Roanoke, Va.; and 15 grandchildren also survive.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Heber and Michael Ross; and one sister, Mary Woodard.

Mr. Ross was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a truck driver for Woodford Oil Co. prior to his retirement.

Zane C. Rossey

Zane C. Rossey, 82, of Orrville, Ohio, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at his home following a period of declining health.

He was born June 18, 1924, at Montrose, the son of Sylvester and Moll (Smith) Rossey.

On Aug. 27, 1942, he married his first wife, Helen Poling, who preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1992. Then, on Feb. 26, 1994, he married Marie McFadden, who preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2000.

Surviving are one son, Rod and Diane Rossey of Wooster, Ohio; one daughter, Vickie and Paul McFadden, of Stanley, N.C.; stepchildren, Wendell and Patty McFadden of Smithville, Ohio, Carol and Gerald Lowe of Creston, Ohio, and Paul McFadden; six grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Zetta (John) Harris.

He retired from Consolidated Freight Ways after 37 years. He was a 1942 graduate of Elkins High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1945. He was a member of Creston Presbyterian Church.

Bessie P. Roy

Bessie Pearl Bright Roy, 96, a former resident of Elkins and more recently a resident of Mansfield Place at Philippi, departed this life early Sunday morning, Aug. 5, 2007, at the nursing home.

She was born Saturday, July 15, 1911, at Long Run, Webster County, a daughter of the late John Presley Bright and Mary Belle Crawford Bright.

She was married to Arthur Roy, who preceded her in death. Surviving are one stepson, Dr. William A. Roy of Las Vegas, Nev; one niece, Deleta McElhaney of McDonald, Pa.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding her in death are two brothers, John and Cecil Bright; and two sisters, Ethel Anderson and Alta Anderson.

Bessie attended the schools of Webster County and was a veteran of World War II, having retired from the Women’s Army Corp, serving in the United States and Europe. She also retired from the United States Pentagon at Washington, D.C., was a life member of H. W. Daniel’s Post 29, American Legion and was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church.

Delmas J. Roy of Ravenswood, died Oct. 6, 2007, in Columbus. Ohio.

He was born July 17, 1934, at Elkins.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Ravenswood; son, Delmas “Punch” and Debbie Roy of Akron, Ohio; daughter, Delana and Gary Wells of Ravenswood; sister, Barbara and Dave Brown of Akron, Ohio; brothers, Benny and Patsy of Sarasota, Fla., John and Loretta Henry of Akron, Ohio, and Pat and Melinda Henry of Canal Fulton, Ohio; grandsons, Dusty and Caro Darlak and Derek, all of Ravenswood; and great-grandson, Dyllan Darlak of Ravenswood.

Donald L. Roy Sr.

Donald Lee Roy Sr., 80, a resident of Parsons, and more recently a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Sunday evening, Sept. 2, 2007, at the nursing home. He had been in declining health.

He was born Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1926, at Hendricks, a son of the late Chester Roy and Myrtle Davis Roy.

He was married to the former Mildred Helmick, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving companion, Helen.

Also surviving are two sons, Donald L. Roy, Jr. and wife, Patty, of Parsons and Michael R. Roy and wife, Carolyn, of Auburn, Ind.; one daughter, Kathy Lynn Leach and husband, Ernie, of Garrett, Ind.; two brothers, Jesse “Stub” Roy and wife, Gloria, of Elkins and Hoy “Pete” Roy and wife, Carol, of Parsons; three sisters, Catherine Kyle and husband, John, of Hendricks, Clara “Peggy” Davis and husband, John, of Hambleton and Ida Mae Cross of Glen Burnie, Md.; five grandchildren, Debbie Davis and husband, Randy, of Thomas, Connie Jewell and husband, Neil, and Michele Roy, all of Auburn, Ind., Ryan and Chloe Leach of Garrett, Ind.; one great-grandson, Jacob Davis of Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and one special nephew, Mark and wife, Toshia Roy, of Elkins.

He attended the Hamrick School at Hendricks. He served in the U.S. Marines from 1945 to 1947. He was a patrolman for the city of Parsons from July 1, 1969 until April 30, 1971, and police chief of Parsons from Dec. 4, 1984 until March 31, 1989. He was a Parsons City Council Member from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2002. He also served a mayor of Hendricks. He was a former employee of Kingsford Charcoal Co. and Western Maryland Railroad. He was a member of the Mt. Top Hunting Club and the Veterans Association. He loved hunting and fishing and going to the Farm Camp in Pendleton County.

James H. Roy

James Howard Roy, 59, a former resident of Tucker County and a resident of Weston, departed this life early Monday morning, Aug. 27, 2007, at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center at

Clarksburg. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

He was born Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1948, at Elkins, a son of the late Howard “Hank” Roy and Velma “Poke” Lipscomb Roy.

He was formerly married to Brenda Ketchem of Parsons.

Surviving are two sons, Jessie James Roy and Jared Wayne Roy and one daughter, Stefanie Lynn Poling and husband, Joshua, all of Parsons; three brothers, Joseph Allen Roy and wife, Linda, of Fayetteville, N.C., Steven Dale Roy of Keyser and William Lynn Roy of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; one sister, Tonya Ruth Barkley and husband, Daniel, of Blackman Heights Community; and four grandsons, Dalton Roy of Davis, Grant Poling, Nolan Poling and Reece Poling, all of Parsons.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Roy.

He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1966. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College during 1993. He was a former coal miner with the Kitt Energy Mines at Philippi. He was a registered nurse working at the William R. Sharp Jr. Hospital at Weston.

She was born Monday, May 19, 1947, at Weston, a daughter of Richard Dean Gray, who survives at Beverly and the late Wanda Montgomery Gray.

On Dec. 1, 1971, at Elkins, she was married to Denver L. Roy, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Eric L. Lucas and wife, Frankie, of Beverly and Jerry L. Lucas and wife, Sandra, of Elkins; three sisters, Patricia Burkett and husband, Denny, of Fort Myers, Fla., Rebecca Long and husband, Owen “Bud,” of Deland, Fla., and Sheila Scott of Beverly; two granddaughters, Desiree D. Lucas and Lynnlee Wileman; one grandson, Dylan Lucas; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Melinda was a graduate of Bridgeport High School with the class of 1965 and was a graduate of the Clarksburg Beauty Academy. She was the co-owner of Great Expectations Beauty Salon at Elkins and was a Baptist by faith. Melinda took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren and watching them perform in their many activities. She loved camping, going to the beach and spending time outdoors in the sun.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins. At Mrs. Roy’s request, the casket will remain closed. Mary J. Runner

Mary Jane Runner, 62, of Clemtown community, Route 3, Philippi, died Friday evening, March 2, 2007, in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 2, 1944, near Philippi, a daughter of the late Odbert Ray and Helen Lenore (Cox) Poe.

Survivors include two sons, Orison Duane Runner and Ernest Josh Freeman, both of Philippi; three grandchildren, Brandon Duane Runner, Heather Sue Runner and Amanda Jane Goontz; and four sisters, Jo Poling of Romney, June Mitchell, Beverly Freeman and Linda Summerfield, all of Philippi.

She was preceded in death by one son, Willie Ray Freeman; and by two brothers, Dwight Eugene Poe and Everett Duane Poe.

Mrs. Runner was a homemaker and a former employee of Reidbord Brothers clothing manufacturers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St., Philippi. Pastor Bryan Headley will officiate and interment will follow in Clemtown Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday.
