Catherine Napoleon
Catherine Cecilia Dyson Napoleon, 75, a former resident of
Pittsburgh, Pa., Clarksburg and Parsons, and more recently a resident of
Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Friday morning, March
16, 2007, in the nursing home. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1931, at Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late
John T. Dyson and Helene Moore Dyson.
She was married to William Michael Napoleon, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, William Joseph “Bill” Napoleon of Crestview, Fla.;
three daughters, Debra Ann Thompson and husband, John, of Fork Mt., Parsons,
Catherine Mercollini and husband, Nicky, of Crafton, Pa., Patricia Ann Ramirez
and husband, Humberto, of Waxahatchie, Texas; one brother, William Dyson, and
one sister, Margaret Mary Dyson, both of Pittsburgh, Pa.; seven grandchildren,
John Patrick, Daniel Ray, Debra Lynn, Yvette, William, Shannon and Nicholas; and
seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were one sister, Anna Mae; and three grandchildren.
She attended the schools of Pittsburgh, Pa. She was a waitress at various
restaurants in Pittsburgh for many years. She was a homemaker and a Christian.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on
Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home
parlor on Tuesday, March 20, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Neil Parsons and the Rev.

Nancy Sue Sponaugle Nazelrod, 54, a resident of
Elkins, passed away at 7:37 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 200,7 in Davis Memorial
Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past two years.
She was born Nov. 25, 1952, at Elkins, a daughter of Ward Sponaugle of Parsons
and the late Verna Vandevender Sponaugle.
Also surviving are a son, Murlin Howell II of Elkins; two brothers, Leonard W.
Sponaugle of Whitmer and Leon R. Sponaugle of Dry Fork; two sisters, Lillian A.
Coontz of Louisa, Va., and Margaret A. Miller of Palmyra, Va. Three
grandchildren, Dylan and Alex Partlow and Katelynn Howell also survive.
Nancy was a graduate of Harman High School and was a homemaker. She attended the
Seventh Day Adventist Church in Elkins.

Mason L. Neely
Mason Lee Neely, 73, of Rock Cave, the Wilsontown community,
died Friday Feb. 2, 2007, at his daughter’s home in Bruceton Mills.
He was born Jan. 18, 1934, in French Creek, a son of the late Argel Neely and
Margaret Casto Hull.
He is survived by his wife Dora Neely.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, the Rev. Vicki D.
Sheppard and husband, Richard, of Bruceton Mills; one son, Dan and wife, Sharon
Neely, of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Christopher Phillips of Tennessee,
Benjamin Phillips of Bruceton Mills and Brian Neely of Buckhannon; nine
great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Hannah, Rebekah, Gideon, Ashlynn and Kaylan
Phillips and Cameron, Colin and Claire Neely; and one brother, Gary Crites of
Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Crites; and his grandparents,
Esker and Myrtle Casto, by whom he was raised.
Mason was a member of the Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church where he had
served as Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of the Banks District
Volunteer Fire Department and the Banks District Civic Center. He was a former
SUBA citizen of the year with his wife, Dora. He was retired from Moore Business
Forms. He was a member of the Antique Auto Club of America and the West Virginia
Region AACA.
Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Sunday
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m.
at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sue Lowther and the
Rev. Mary Ellen Finnegan officiating. Interment will follow in the Rock Cave

Priscilla J. Nefflen
Priscilla Jane Stull Nefflen, 64, a resident of Lavalette Avenue, Elkins,
departed this life Tuesday evening, Nov. 27, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She had been in declining health although death was unexpected.
She was born Friday, Nov. 5, 1943, at Mannington, a daughter of the late Cecil
Wayne Stull and Edith Cloe Harless Stull.
In March of 1969, at Ely, Nev., she was married to George William Nefflen, who
survives.
Also surviving are one son, Joseph Cecil Nefflen and wife, Katie, of
Westminster, Md.; three daughters, Cindy Dawn MacCarron and husband, Peter, of
Buffalo, N.Y., Kimberly Jean Thomas and husband, Tim, of Salem, Ore., Teresa
Dawn Murray and husband, Ken, both currently deployed in Iraq, of San Antonio,
Texas; one brother, John Stull of Fairmont; one sister, Ella Smith of Palm Beach
County, Fla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Priscilla was a graduate of Mannington High School and Fairmont State College
with a degree in education. She was a science teacher for many years in North
Central West Virginia and Palm Beach County, Fla., from which she retired. She
was a member of the Universal Unitarian Congregation at Palm Beach, Fla.
Mrs. Nefflen’s request for cremation was honored. A Memorial Service will be

Irene (Swick) Nelson, 77, of Fort Ashby and formerly of
Petersburg, died Friday, April 13, 2007 at WHMS-Braddock Campus, Cumberland, Md.

Radie A. Nelson
Radie Arbogast Nelson, 87, a resident of Pendleton Nursing Home
in Franklin and formerly of Bartow, died March 18, 2007, in the nursing home.
She was born July 22, 1919, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Martin
Arbogast and Perlena Bennett Arbogast.
She was married to Clyde Samuel Nelson, who preceded her in death Sept. 23,
1988.
Surviving are one daughter, Margaret Waggy and husband, Danny “Buck” of
Franklin; two sons, Jesse L. Nelson and wife, Violet, of Ravenna, Ohio, and K.
Leon Nelson and wife, Cheryl, of Arbovale; three sisters, Mary “Tommie”
Howdyshell of Andover, Ohio, Ruth Ervin of White Sulphur Springs and Darie
Arbogast of Dunmore; one brother, Elmer “Bucky” Arbogast of Louisiana; and
nine grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Samuel Martin and Clyde “Willie;”
two daughters, Radie Lois and Ruth Marie; two brothers, Russell and Ray; and two
sisters, Emma Mae Rexrode and Sally Ervin.
She was a homemaker.

Kevin Grant Nestor, 33, a resident of Peoria, Ariz., passed
away in Peoria.

Kevin G. Nestor
Kevin Grant Nestor, 33, a native of Elkins, passed away May 12
in Peoria, Ariz., where he had resided since 1998. He was in his usual health
and his death was unexpected.
He graduated from Elkins High School in 1992 and was on the football team,
baseball team and track team. He attended Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, Pa.,
and then attended Davis & Elkins College, where he was a member of the TKE
fraternity,
After D&E College, he moved to Long Island, N.Y., where he worked at
Claudio’s, a well-known restaurant for three years. His restaurant career took
him from a busboy, to a chef, to an executive sous chef in a four-star
restaurant in Scottsdale, Ariz. After leaving the restaurant business, he became
a salesman for Sysco Corp. and then for Brody Chemical Co.
Kevin was the beloved son of Robert Grant “Rob” Nestor and Joyce Marie Booth
Nestor, who survive in Elkins.
Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Grant “Shorty” Nestor and Pat
Ketterman Nestor of Elkins; his maternal stepgrandmother, Nancy Booth of Elkins;
his aunt, Susie Wagoner, with whom he had an especially close relationship, and
uncle Rick Wagoner, who reside in Franklin; his aunts and uncles Janet and Ken
Ott, who live in Pennsylvania, Harry and Laurel Booth, who reside in Virginia,
and David Booth, who resides in Virginia. Preceding him in death were his
paternal great-grandparents, Hugh and Dorothy Nestor of Elkins; and maternal
grandparents, Ralph and Edith Booth of Elkins.
He also leaves his special friend and partner, Brandy Dishman; her son, T.J.;
and Kevin’s very special cat, “Kitty.”
He was married for a short time to the former Andrea Marie Crawford, who now
resides in Indiana.
In Arizona, he had made numerous close friends and there will be a memorial
gathering honoring Kevin on Saturday, May 19, at 6:30 p.m. at the 92nd Street
Café in Scottsdale, Ariz. The memorial is organized by his close friends and
D&E TKE brothers, Wade Cooper and Kurt Schweinler, who moved to Arizona
largely because of Kevin.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at the
Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May
18, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Elkins. The Rev. Dr.

She was born March 20, 192, at Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Sam Loar and
Janie Fisher Loar.
She was married to Charles Waitman Nestor, who preceded her in death Sept. 5,
1983.
Surviving are one son, Scott L. Nestor of Wheeling; one daughter, Sharyn J.
Smith of East Sparta, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded
her in death by two sons, Samuel C. Nestor and Steven L. Nestor.
She was a graduate of Lumberport High School with the class of 1940. She was a
homemaker and a Baptist.

Mabel Irene Elizabeth Nestor, 82, of Inverness, Fla., died
Monday, April 30, 2007, in Legacy House in Ocala, Fla., under the care of Marion
County Hospice.
Mrs. Nestor was born at North Versailles Township, Pa., on Aug. 19, 1924, to the
late Nelson D. and Mollie Ellen (Wilcox) Heckman, and moved to Florida in 1993
from Junior.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Robert C. “Bob” Nestor, three
daughters, Carol and George Vargo of Morgantown, Elaine and Eddie Markley of
Mill Creek and Susan and Charlie Byrd of Lantana, Fla.; one son, Daniel and
Marge Stahl of New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, MaryLou Seese; four brothers and one
sister.
Mrs. Nestor was a retired hospital food service manager. She was a member of
Conerstone Baptist Church in Inverness.

Lena Faye Hebb Taylor Neville, 95, a resident of Nesbitt
Personal Care Home at Hendricks and a former resident of Fairmont, departed this
life Easter Sunday, April 8, 2007, at Hendricks.
She was born Friday, April 28, 1911, at Tunnelton, Preston County, a daughter of
the late Solomon Elsworth Hebb and Alice Maude Thomas.
She was twice married, first to Ira Gordon Taylor, who preceded her in death in
1946, and second to Lester W. Neville, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two brothers, Harry Hebb and wife, Donna, Marie of Buckhannon and
Charles Hebb and wife, Christine, of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by four brothers, Al Hebb, Guy Hebb, Russ Hebb and John
Hebb; and four sisters, Helen Miller, Mabel Fekete, Ethel Agnes Thawley and
Blanche Manuell.
She attended the schools of Preston County and was homemaker. She was also a
member of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Preston County and a
member of the Church of God.

Glen C. Nottingham, 60, of Durbin passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2007.
Glen was born March 14, 1947, at Elkins, to the late Forrest and Irene Varner Nottingham.
Surviving are his wife, Donean Smith Nottingham of Durbin; and his stepmother, Dorothy Nottingham of Durbin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Nottingham.
Glen was a farmer and an avid hunter and fisherman.

Mary Ann Cross Null, 85, a former resident of Elkins, and more
recently a patient in Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington,

Hospital.
She was born Sunday, Aug. 28, 1921, at Belington, a daughter of the late Willis
Cross and Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” Cross.
On Nov. 3, 1943, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Sam Null, who preceded her
in death July 31, 1995.
Surviving are one son, Leslie J. Null of Belington; three grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in
death were three brothers, Early, Opha and Tazwell “Tas” Cross; and five
sisters, Icie Lena Canfield, Lanie Lantz, Eliza Etta Shahan, Goldie Canfield and
Ruth Virginia Nelson.

Helen Louise “Sis” Nutter, 78, a resident of Mansfield
Place and a former resident of Rt. 4, Philippi, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 28,
2007 in Mansfield Place.
She was born April 4, 1929, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Carl and Margret
(Beattie) Kines.
She was united in marriage Aug. 1, 1946, to Robert Nutter who preceded her in
death Nov. 3, 1989.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Nutter and companion, John McClung, both of
Fredricksburg, Va., and Larry David Nutter of Philippi; three grandchildren,
Lisa McQuillens of North Carolina, and Amanda Nutter and Bobby Nutter of
Philippi; and one great-grandchild, Conner McQuillens of North Carolina.
Mrs. Nutter was preceded in death by one son, Danny Nutter; one grandson, Scotty
Nutter; and one brother, Carl Kines Jr.
Mrs. Nutter retired from Barbour County Schools as a cook at the Philippi
Elementary School and attended the Mansfield Methodist Church.

Philippi, today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 31, from 8 a.m. to 1

Thomas G. Nye, 92, a resident of Buckhannon, died Friday, June
29, 2007, at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
He was born Jan. 4, 1915, at Grafton, a son of the late Eldon F. and Helen Cline
Nye.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Oreta
Curtis Nye; one sister, Dorothy Nye; two brothers, Eldon F. Nye II and Paul S.
Nye; and one stepson, Ted Legg.
He is survived by his present wife, Pauline Legg Nye of Buckhannon; one son, Dr.
Thomas G. Nye II of Lexington, Va.; two stepdaughters, Paula Hagan of Cashiers,
N.C., and Penny Wilson of Morganton, N.C.; one grandson, Scott Nye; three
stepgrandsons, Kevin Hagan, Dusty Wilson and Ben Hall; one stepgranddaughter,
Amber Hughes; two great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Nancy Linger of Lorentz and Hettie Finster of Roanoke.
Mr. Nye was retired from Equitable Resources where he worked for 35 years. He
was a member of First Baptist Church of Buckhannon and a 50-year member of
Weston Masonic Lodge 10. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
At Mr. Nye’s request, his body will be cremated. Graveside services will be at
10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Upshur County Memorial Park in Tennerton with the
Rev. Richard McGuire officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that
donations be made to St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice, 1 Amelia Drive,
Buckhannon, W.Va. 26201. Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel is in charge of the
