Lisa M. LaBonte

Lisa Marie LaBonte, 41, a resident of Columbia, Tenn., and a former resident of Philippi, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, in St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn.

She was born June 1, 1965, in Princes Georges County, Md. a daughter of Merl “Buzz” Jr. and Lina June (Shockey) Golden, who survive at Philippi.

She was united in marriage to Richard E. LaBonte, who survives in Columbia, Tenn.

Also surviving are one brother, Mark L. Golden of Philippi; one brother-in-law, Tony and wife, Terri LaBonte, of Fredrick, Md.; two nephews, Damien Golden of Philippi and Brett LaBonte of Fredrick, Md.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Mrs. LaBonte was precede in death by her grandparents, Virginia and Merl Golden and Hugh and Roxie Shockey.

Mrs. LaBonte worked in the accounting department of Sam’s Club in Franklin, Tenn, and also was a former employee of the City Restaurant in Philippi, Mountain Mama’s Restaurant and the Fashion Queen Beauty Shop. Mrs. LaBonte was a member of Barbour Church of Christ.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 11, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the service hour, with Speaker Loyd Shockey and Evangelist R.D. Ice officiating. Evelyn R. Lambert, 85, of Franklin, died Monday, March 19, 2007, in Pendleton Nursing Home in Franklin.

Franklin Lambert Sr.

Franklin D. Lambert Sr., 58, of Davisville, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg.

He was born at Harman, a son of the late Jennings and Tina Teter Lambert.

Franklin was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a sergeant having served in Germany. He was a member of Fort Borman Rifle Club, National Rifle Association, was an avid bass fisherman and enjoyed guns and hunting. He worked for Glatfelter Paper Co. in Washington as a manager.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Taylor Lambert, whom he married June 25, 1971; one son, Franklin D. Lambert Jr. and wife, Dena, of Parkersburg; one daughter, Angela Edwards of Parkersburg; a grandson, Mitch Edwards of Parkersburg; three brothers, Wilson Lambert of Wymer and Willie and Delbert Lambert, both of Elkins; four sisters, Gladys Thompson of Alpena, Hazel Lambert of Bowden, Daisy Thompson of Wymer and Mary Rowan of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Lambert-Tatman Home, located on Pike Street in South Parkersburg, and at Runner Funeral Home in Elkins Tuesday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service hour, with Pastor Leon Hevener officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. State Memorial Gardens in Gilman. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside by Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and H.W. Jerry Kenton Lambert, 68, of Comfort, and formerly of Franklin, died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2007, at his home.

Kenna H. Lambert

Kenna H. Lambert, 92, of Durbin, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, in Pocahontas Continuous Care Center in Marlinton.

Born Sept. 14, 1914, at Circleville, he was a son of the late Elie and Mary Kiser Lambert.

He was of the Brethren faith, was a World War II Army veteran, was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a rescue chief with the Bartow Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a laborer at Howe’s Leather Co. and was also a sawmill worker.

In addition to his parents, Kenna was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Smith Lambert, an infant daughter and a sister, Ina Neighbors.

Surviving are three daughters, Virginia “Jenny” Rexrode and husband, Bill, of Durbin, Gracie Richardson of Warrenton, Va., and Barbara Hale of Alabaster, Ala.; five sons, John Lambert and wife, Marie, of Las Cruces, N.M., Bill Lambert of Manassas, Va., Donald Lambert and wife, Mary, of Richmond, Va., Roy Lambert and wife, Francie, of Durbin and Glen Hale of Alabaster, Ala.; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Bradley of Cass.

Visitation was Monday at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Graveside services will be today at 1:30 p.m. in Arbovale Cemetery with military honors presented by the Pocahontas County Honor Guard. The Rev. David Rittenhouse will officiate. Nellie R. Lambert

Nellie Ruth Lambert, 81, a resident of Whitmer, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Mike Mullennex at Whitmer.

She was born Sept. 5, 1925, at Harman, a daughter of the late Riley Harper and Edrie Madge Lambert McDonald. Nellie was raised by the Rev. Hobert Hedrick and his wife, Gladys, who preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Michael “Pam” Mullennex of Whitmer; one foster brother, Billy White of Belington; and one foster sister, Martha White of Morgantown. One grandson, Asa John Mullennex of Whitmer; and two stepgrandchildren, Brian Mullennex of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Rachel Mullennex Garman of Austin, Texas, also survive.

Preceding her in death was one sister, Joy Thompson.

Nellie received her bachelor of science degree in education from Davis & Elkins College. She attended the University of Colorado and had a master’s degree in education. She was employed as a teacher with the Cecil County Board of Education in Maryland until her retirement. She was a member of Whitmer Church of God.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Whitmer Church of God. A funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at the church with the Rev. Steve Bailey and the Rev. Eli Hostetler officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Hills Cemetery at Whitmer. Wilda M. Lambert

Wilda Mae Summerfield Lambert, 83, a resident of Montrose, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at her residence.

She was born Nov. 26, 1924, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Joseph Summerfield and Bessie Carr.

On April 26, 1946, she was married to Earl Elborn Lambert, who preceded her in death May 23, 1999.

She is survived by four daughters, Lillian Mae Scott of Adolph, Mary Ellen Marsh and Barbara Sue Ramsey, both of Beverly and Carolyn Jean MaGee of Valley Bend; one son, Johnny Elborn Lambert of Montrose; and a half sister, Dorothy Varner of Ohio. Several grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren survive.

Also preceding her in death were two sons, Shirley Gene Moore and Franklin Lambert; five sisters, Roeta McCauley, Lena Workman, Helen Summerfield, Freda Summerfield and Ada Mae Summerfield; and two brothers, Paul and Charles Summerfield.

Wilda was a homemaker and loved life, gardening, shopping and being outdoors. She loved her children and grandchildren very dearly and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

William Lambert

William “Charlie” Lambert, 82, a resident of 9 Stoddard Ave., Gateway Apartments, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at 9:28 a.m. at his residence. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

William Lambert Sr.

William “Charlie” Lambert Sr., 82, a resident of 9 Stoddard Ave., Gateway Apartments, passed away Monday, Aug. 6, 2007, at 9:28 a.m. at his residence. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.

Born March 19, 1925, at Bemis, he was the son of the late Burley and Artie Barkley Lambert.

He was formerly married to Audrey Helen Lambert Nelson, who preceded him in death in 2005.

Charlie is survived by two sons, William Charles “Charlie” Lambert Jr. and wife, Annette, of Elkins and Ricky Ray Lambert and wife, Kim, of Junior; two daughters, Connie Elaine Ricottilli and husband, David, of Dailey and Cordelia Elizabeth Griffith and husband, John, of Rockford, Ill. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Michael and Sondra Ricottilli and Cortney and Christina Lambert; two stepgrandchildren, Michael and Alex; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Charlie was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Carr and Genevieve Louk; and one brother, Junior Lambert.

He attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed by the West Virginia Department of Natural Resources for 24 years until he retired in 1987. He was a veteran having served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 until 1953. Charlie was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed any time he could spend in the woods. He made friends easily and will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Friends will be received at Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 10, from the Runner Chapel at 2 p.m. The Rev. Eli Hostetler of Parsons will officiate. Interment will follow in American Legion Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale. The 326th QM Co. DET 1, the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and H.W. Daniel’s Post 29 American Legion will conduct full military services at the graveside. Alma C. Lambruno, 86, of Douglas, passed away at her home Feb. 14, 2007.

Alma Catherine Lambruno, 86, of Douglas, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at her home.

She was born Sept. 4, 1929, at Beryl, a daughter of the late Samuel Russ and Rosie Catherine Lipscomb Davis.

She was married first to Arlie Davis Sr., whom she married on Sept. 4, 1937, and second to Anthony D. Lambruno on Oct. 3, 1959, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Arlie C. and wife, Kathryn Davis, of Blackman Flats; one daughter, Karen and husband, Gene Bishop, of Marion, Ohio; one sister, Sarah Shillingburg of California; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters and one granddaughter.

Alma retired in 1980 after 25 years working as postmaster of the Thomas post office. She was a member of the National Association of Postmaster, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a member and elder at the First Presbyterian Church of Thomas.

Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home on Saturday from 2 p.m. to to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Sunday at the Hinkle Funeral Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Thomas. Adam S. Landes

Adam Scott Landes, 22, of Belington, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, in Meadowview Manor in Bridgeport.

He was born Nov. 2, 1984, in Upshur County, a son of Marley Ray Landes Jr. of Fairmont and Saundra Kay Stalnaker, of Belington.

He is survived by his stepmother, Laura Landes of Fairmont; two brothers, Jason and wife, Hillary Lowther, of Columbus, Ind., and Jeremy Landes of Fairmont; paternal grandfather, Marley Ray Landes Sr. of Buckhannon; and maternal grandparents, Forest and Patty Stalnaker of Buckhannon.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Rosalee Landes.

Adam was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Ind., where he was a member of the jazz band. He was a member of Fairfax Christian Church in Indianapolis. He enjoyed classical music, computers and reading.

Wilda L. Landis

Wilda Louise Landis, 77, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in Holbrook’s Nursing Home at Buckhannon.

She was born Nov. 30, 1929, at Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Riley Smith and Alice Lettie Cutright Smith.

Surviving are one daughter, Mary Alice Hadsock and husband, Arthur, of Ellamore; two sons, Erwin “Butch” Cobb of Arizona, and Ronald Stephen Cobb; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Also preceding her in death were her first husband, James William Cobb; her second husband, Ward F. Landis; two sons, James Cobb and Ralph Edward Cobb; one brother, Haymon Smith; and one sister, Rita Burr.

She was a homemaker and attended the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

Virginia M. Lane

Virginia Martin Lane, 73, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, N.C.

She was born Aug. 28, 1933, and was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Martin and Agnes Martin Fuentes.

A native of Elkins, she was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary in the office of special investigations for the U.S. Air Force. She will be remembered as a caring wife, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 52 years, James Linwood Lane, of their home; five children, James L. Lane Jr. and wife, Sandi, of Chestertown, Md., Joyce L. Burgess and husband, Gurney, of Conway, N.C., David M. Lane and wife, Deborah, of Murfreesboro, N.C., Vicki L. Knapp and husband, Guy, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Steven E. Lane and wife, Nora, of Conway, N.C.; four sisters, Cecilia Martin Meierdiercks and husband, Don, of Ballston, N.Y., Grace Martin Folsom and husband, Robert, of Austin, Texas, Judy Fuentes Kyle of Elkins and Barbara Fuentes Weese and husband, Arthur, of Champion, Ohio; one brother, Roderick Fuentes and wife, Donna, of Bridgeton, N.J.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in Woodland Town Cemetery with the Rev. Lemar Wheeler presiding. Icie E. Lanham

Icie E. Lanham, 91 years, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

She was born Sept. 5, 1916, at Hemlock, a daughter of the late Peter and Lydia Ann Light Currence.

On April 16, 1924, at Hemlock, she was married to Van Buren Lanham, who preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2002.

Surviving are three sons, Doc Lanham and wife, Ronetta, of Ravenna, Ohio, Eugene Lanham and wife, Shirley, of Mill Creek and Donald Lanham and wife, Cindy, of Valley Bend; and four daughters, Virginia Mae Snyder and companion, Dice Harper, Mary Catherine Lanham, Barbara Sue Sutton and husband, Dixie, and Thelma Arlene Haney and husband, Richard, all of Mill Creek. One daughter-in-law, Naomi Lanham of Mill Creek; two brothers, Oren Currence, a resident of Nella’s Inc. of Crystal Springs and Jake Currence, a resident of Valentine’s Personal Care Home; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and; several great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Also preceding her in death were two sons, Wade and Dain Lanham; two daughters, Yvonne Marie Lanham and Wanda Jean Lanham; three brothers, Mack, Dudley and James Edward Currence; and four sisters, Fannie Hodges, Jenny Tenney, Plesia Currence and Janie Pomp.

Mrs. Lanham was a homemaker and a member of Memorial Mission Church at Mill Creek.

Friends called Sunday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Today she will be moved to the Memorial Mission Church at Mill Creek for visitation from 11 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour. The Rev. Ida Janie Lanham, 101, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.

She was born May 21, 1906, in Gilmer County, a daughter of the late Jacob Beckner and Effie Pritt Beckner.

She was married to Ivan Lanham, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Margie Zickefoose and husband, Robert, of Alliance, Ohio, and Norma Lloyd and husband, Charles, of Buckhannon; one son, Edward Gibson and wife, Lela, of Alliance, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Frances Chidester of Gaines; three stepsons, William Lanham and wife, Sandy, of Texas, Donald Lanham and wife, Frances, of Homeworth, Ohio, and Ivan Eugene Lanham and wife, Linda, of Minerva, Ohio; 170 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mattie Canter of Reidsville, N.C.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one stepson, Charles Lanham; and several sisters and brothers.

She was a homemaker.

Margaret Bodkins Lantz, 83, a resident of Meade Street, Buckhannon, departed this life Friday evening, July 27, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown.

She was born Friday, March 28, 1924, at Bemis, a daughter of the late James Edward Bodkins and Attie Alice White Bodkins.

On Sept. 7, 1944, she was married to Leonard Lee Lantz, who preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1997.

Surviving her are three sons, Dana L. Lantz and wife, Carmel, and Steven L. Lantz and wife, Carmel, all of Buckhannon and Donald A. Lantz of Valley Head; three daughters, Kay Hollen and husband, Pete, and Bonita “Bonnie” Spencer and husband, Roger, all of Buckhannon, and Brenda Futten and husband, Bill, of Fairmont; two brothers, Joe Bodkins of Valley Head and Harold Bodkins of Beaufort, S.C.; four sisters, Hallie Fedowich of Westbury, Long Island, N.Y., Carrie Thompson of Elkins, Mary Couch of Sarasota, Fla., and Sharon Bodkins of Appling, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, Chad, Amy, Eric, Evan, Alainna, Julia, Jay, Brian, Aaron, Brianna, Joey, and Natalie; eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Chase, Spencer, Ava, Brian, Cailey, Jared and Maddie; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents were three brothers, Sebert, Eugene and Wilmoth Bodkins; and three sisters, Virginia Arbogast, Opal Channel, and Edith Bodkins.

She attended the schools of Randolph County and was a homemaker.

The son of the late Merlin Ruhl and Kathryn Ward Lawson, he was born July 1, 1922, at Grafton, but grew up in Berlin, graduating from Weston High School.

He met his wife, the former Clara Jett Strader of Buckhannon while attending West Virginia Wesleyan College. At the time of her death in 2003, they had been married for 61 years.

Edward also attended West Virginia University in Morgantown and received his mechanical engineering degree from Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh, Pa., graduating with honors. He worked for Watson-Standard Co. of Pittsburgh for 46 years, which originally sold and developed trade sales paints and later produced industrial coatings. At the time of his retirement, the company newsletter noted the following, “Ed began his career as a chemist in the laboratory at Plant 1. Following eight years of diligent, hard work, Ed was promoted to chief chemist in 1954. A few years later, he moved to Delaware, Ohio, to become the industrial and technical coatings sales representative for the territory. After 18 successful years in sales, Ed returned to Pittsburgh and assumed the duties of technical director. In the early 1980s, he designed and installed the first computer system ever at Watson Standard Co.” A co-worker made note of his “kindness, gentleness, perseverance and desire to do work well.” His family can attest to that and to his courage and integrity, for while he endured multiple sclerosis for more than 40 years, he always put the welfare of his family first. While he was able, he enjoyed golfing and assisting his wife with her art projects by making plaster molds and glazes and frames for her paintings.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise DeFrancis.

He is survived by two sons, Stephen Edward Lawson of Sylvania, Ohio, and Gregory Lawson of Ft. Collins, Colo.; three daughters, Linda Miller of Newport, Maine, Barbara Trueman of Aurora, Ohio, and Michelle Strader of Bethlehem, Pa., and Eden; five grandsons; five granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.

Ellen Nelson Griffith Lawson, 80, a former resident of Hambleton, and a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Saturday evening, Jan. 27, 2007 at the home.

She was born June 5, 1925, at Whitmer, a daughter of the late Delmar and Patsy Elza Nelson.

She was twice married, first to Charles R. Griffith, who preceded her in death April of 1959, and then she married James Lawson, who preceded her in death Oct. of 2006.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ellen Mauldin and husband, Mack, of Hendricks and Sharon Griffith of Morgantown; two brothers, Jason Kimber Nelson and wife, Pearl Ann, of Thomas and Delmar “Junior” Nelson and wife, Terry, of Akron, Ohio; one sister, Patricia Yokum of New Creek; four grandchildren, Ben F. “Buddy” Long and wife, Brenda, of Holly Meadows, Christy Murray and husband, Kevin, of Morgantown, Sue Ellen Shrout of Nashville and Kim Snyder and husband, James, of Parsons; and five great-grandchildren, Adam Lambruno and Emma Snyder, both of Parsons, Evin Murray of Morgantown, Stephanie Long and Ben F. “Benny” Long, both of Holly Meadows.

Preceding her in death are one infant son. James Daniel Griffith; and four brothers, Blake Nelson, Robert Eugene Nelson, Harold Arthur Nelson and James Russell Nelson.

She attended the schools of Whitmer, the schools of Tucker County and was a graduate of Charleston High School at Charleston with the class of 1955. She attended Morris Harvey College at Charleston. She retired from the Kroger Co. after 25 years of service.

She was owner and operator of a pet grooming business while living at Houston, Texas, and she was a real estate agent while a resident of Georgia. She loved to make crafts and was a noted cook. She was a Methodist.

Blaine Leach

Blaine "Shorty" Leach, 98, of South Main Street, Philippi, died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, while living at home under the care of his son, Tommy, and daughter, Helen.

He was born Aug. 16, 1908, in Taylor County, a son of the late Emma (Haddix) Meadows and Walter Leach.

He was united in marriage to his wife of 71 years, Helen Maxine (Simon) Leach, who preceded him in death Dec. 31, 2002.

Surviving are four sons, Harold Leach of Nashville, Tenn., Theodore "Ted" Leach of Philippi, Thomas Leach and wife, Ann, of Lockport, N.Y., and Larry Leach and wife, Karen, of Philippi; two daughters, Gloria 0ppenheimer and husband, William, of Warren, Ohio, and Helen Auvil and husband, Encil, of Aniston, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his youngest son, Blaine Jr.; and one brother, Waldron.

Mr. Leach was a member of Crim Memorial United Methodist Church in Philippi. He was a graduate of Grafton High School and Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. He was a well-known, hard-working local businessman all of his adult life. Some of his many business endeavors included an ice house, sawmill and coal mining/deliver business. He loved to talk to people and was recognized by almost everyone throughout Barbour County.

Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi Saturday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 29, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service hour with the Rev. Austin Leroy “Bud” Leary, 67, a resident of the Crystal Springs Community, Elkins, departed this life Saturday evening, Feb. 24, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department. He had been in declining health for the past several years.

He was born Wednesday, June 21, 1939, at Beverly, a son of the late Charles Joseph Leary and Irene Gennett Bender Leary.

On Oct. 16, 1967, he was united in marriage to the former Carolyn Sue Hedrick, who survives at Crystal Springs.

Also surviving are three sons, David Wayne Leary and wife, Apryl, Bobby Lee Leary and Buddy Lee Leary and wife, Becky, all of Whitmer; one daughter, April Lynn Hannah and husband, Vencil, of Mill Creek; four brothers, Arnold Robert Leary and wife, Bonnie, of Beverly, Charles Allen Leary and wife, Debbie, Paul Roy Bender and wife, Barbara, all of Elkins and Johnny Richard Bender and wife, Mary, of Essex, Md.; three sisters, Joseph Arizona Wingfield and husband, Frank, of Bowden, Margaret Jean Bender Robinson and husband, Raymond, of Junior and Helena Joyce Bender Bowry of Beverly; three grandsons, Lucas Leary, Isaac Leary and Joseph Leary; three granddaughters, Amanda Newlon, Jennifer Newlon and Melissa Newlon; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

“Bud’ attended the schools of Randolph County, had worked on various farms, had helped clean reactor plants and had worked in masonry until he became disabled in 1972. He loved to hunt and fish and was dreaming of summer to enjoy his new porch. He was Church of God by faith.

Ernest Leary

Ernest Leary, 83, a resident of 414 Central St., Watergate Apartments, Elkins, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2007 at 7:05 p.m., in Davis Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past two weeks.

Born March 17, 1924, in Randolph County, he was the son of the late Talbert C. And Olive Vanscoy Leary.

He was united in marriage to the former Mildred L. Donaldson, who preceded him in death on Nov. 24, 2003.

  Surviving are two sons, Delmis D. Leary of Crystal Springs and Jack Painter and wife, Pearl, of Cravensdale; two half sisters, Madaline O’Neil of St. Louis, Mo., and Rosalee Thomason of Norton; and a half brother, Jimmy Sacardia. Several nieces and nephews including, Emery Joe Leary, Charles Corley Jr. and James R. Corley; and a host of friends also survive.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were his stepmother, Kermie Leary; a sister, Esta Mae Sacardia; three brothers: Russell, Emery, and Howard Leary; and a half brother, Everett.

Ernest was employed by the YMCA and the WPA. He attended the Riverside Country Church at Junior and had attended and graduated from the Romney School for the Blind.

Dortha Belle Lee, 65, of French Creek, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, at her home.

She was born April 7, 1942, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Ellis B. and Phyllis L. Payne Lee.

She is survived by one son, Allen D. and wife, Barbara R. Lee, of French Creek; one daughter, Delora Lynn Brown of Buckhannon; six grandchildren, Wesley Adam Lee, Christopher Allen Lee, Allena Nicole Currence, Kelly Dwayne Lee, Michael Brian Kennedy and Brandon Seth Lee; and six great-grandchildren, Kaleb Austin Currence, Kameron Tyler Currence, Kennan Michael Lee, Brodee Deacon Kennedy, Kiley Jade Kennedy and Brendon Alexandria Lee; one sister, Helen J. Moore of Rock Cave; two brothers, Johnny A. Lee and Arden J. Lee, both of Rock Cave. Also surviving are a special nephew and caretaker, Gary Lee; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Allen Dwayne Lee II; one sister, Zeta Mae Lee; and two brothers, Denzil Lee and Dwayne “Buck” Lee.

Dortha was a loving mother, neighbor and friend to all. She was recognized by the National Poet Society. She was a lay speaking minister and a member of Salem United Methodist Church.

Ennis Lee

Ennis “Kent” Lee, 71, of Kingwood, formerly of St. George, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007.

He was born Jan. 10, 1936, at Manheim, the son of the late Ezra Ellis and Nelle Victoria (Hebb) Lee.

Kent was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was active all of his life as an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a master wood craftsman and participated in craft shows for many years with Mary. Kent was also a member of Good Tidings Assembly of God Church on Location Road in St. George.

He is survived by the love of his life, his devoted and loving wife of 51 years, Mary Louise (Carr) Lee.

He is also survived by five doting daughters, Kim and Randy Hartman and Vicki and Lefty Stonebraker, all of Kingwood, Lisa and Carey Livengood of Tucson, Ariz., Ellen Lee of Parsons and Beth and Allen Streets of St. George. Kent had 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, with one great-granddaughter due in December. He is also survived by one sister, Vergie Edeburn of Shinnston; two brother, Conley and Leora Lee of Englewood, Ohio, and Lane Lee of Moorefield; one sister-in-law, Olivia Lee of Homeland, Calif.; one niece; and two nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Don Allen Lee; a sister-in-law, Patty Lee; a brother-in-law, Bill Edeburn and one great-grandson, Rylan Axil Vanscoy.

Opal Lucille Lee, 89, a resident of Buckhannon, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at her home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice of Buckhannon.

She was born March 10, 1918, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Columbus Crites and Laura Simmons Crites.

On Aug. 14, 1937, she was married to the Rev. Owen M. Lee, who survives at Buckhannon.

She was a homemaker and attended Buckhannon Union Mission Church.

Imogene Phillips Lemons, 93, of French Creek, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at her home.

She was born Oct. 3, 1913, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Ord Crites and Mamie Crites.

She is survived by her second husband, Cletus Lemons of Buckhannon.

Also surviving are two granddaughters, Melissa McGee and husband, Kenny, of French Creek and Arlene Phillips of Rock Cave; one grandson, Randy Phillips and wife, Paula, of Rock Cave; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Donald Crites of Buckhannon; and one daughter-in-law, Sue Phillips of French Creek.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Phillips; one son, Darrell Phillips; four sisters, Mary Zickefoose, Blanch Sipes, Orphy Allender and Irene Crites; four brothers, Dennis Crites, Paul Crites, Audry Crites and Billy Crites; and one great-granddaughter, Tanisha Robinson.

She was a homemaker, attended Sago Baptist Church and was a member of Gould Church.

Charles J. Lewis 

Charles Junior Lewis, 83, a resident of Beverly, departed this life late Friday evening, Nov. 9, 2007, in Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown. He had been in declining health since September.

He was born Wednesday, Nov. 28, 1923, at Beverly, a son of the late George Arnold Lewis and Juanita Esta Mae Lewis.

On June 1, 1946, at Elkins, he was married to the former Betty Jane Kerr, who survives. They had celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Also surviving are three sons, Richard Lee Lewis and wife. Anita, of Oklahoma, John Lynn Lewis and wife, Helen, and Terry Keith Lewis and wife, Terri, all of Beverly; two daughters, Carol Sue Hatley and husband, Jerry, of Beverly and Tammy Joy Rich and husband, Donald, Wymer; five brothers, Glen E. Lewis of Kentucky, Arnold Ray “Bud” Lewis, of Florida, Paul E. Lewis of Morgantown, Harry Lewis and Alfred “Samp” Lewis, both of Beverly; three sisters, Lillian DeWitt of Beverly and Donna Stalnaker Brant and Linda McCollam, both of Elkins; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were one son, Charles Joe Lewis; and two brothers, Luther Guy Lewis and Alan Dent Lewis.

Charles attended the schools of Beverly, was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy and operated a barge that landed the troops at Normandy. He was a construction worker and served for many years as a business agent for Laborer’s Union Local 984 at Clarksburg. He was a life member of Tygarts Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Geneva A. Lewis

Geneva Alice Nestor Lewis 83, a former resident of Cumberland, Md., and more recently a resident of Elkins, departed this life Friday evening, Feb. 16, 2007, in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.

She was born Thursday, Jan. 3, 1924, at Parsons, a daughter of the late Wade W. Nestor and Dama Skidmore Nestor.

On Aug. 10, 1941, she married Isaac W. Lewis, who preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1993.

Surviving are nieces, Dee White and Lorrayne Corley, both of Elkins, Nancy McCue of Charlottesville, Va., Anna Mae Duggan of Mercersburg, Pa., Dama Nestor and Julia Riggleman, both of Lewisburg, and Doris Warren of Parkton, Md.; nephews, Grant “Shorty” Nestor of Elkins and Jim Nestor of Princeton Junction, N.J.; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a sister-in-law, Clara Bardy of Colorado. She loved all her “kids” dearly.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hugh, Huett and Ray Vance Nestor; and two sisters, Sylvia Huff and Mary N. Hartman.

Geneva was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1941. She and her husband had resided in El Paso, Texas, and Cumberland, Md., and she had worked as a secretary. She was a former member of Zion United Methodist Church at Cumberland, where she served as a financial secretary and on the administrative board for 14 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church at Elkins.

The family will receive friends at Zion United Methodist Church at Cumberland, Md., on Saturday, Feb. 24, from noon to 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Ellis E. Conley and the Rev. Robert E. Wadena T. Light, 93, a resident of Biloxi, Miss., died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at her home.

She was born Feb. 13, 1914, at Palace Valley, the daughter of the late Harmon Cutright and Anna Hoover Cutright.

She was married to George W. Light, who preceded her in death Oct. 19, 1978.

Surviving are one son, Keyolan G. and Constance Light of Biloxi, Miss.; two grandsons, Kevin and Anna Light of Acworth, Ga., and Eric and Rebecca Light of Rome, Ga.; three great-grandsons, Andrew Light, Kyle Light and Aiden Light, all of Acworth, Ga.; and two great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Light and Savannah Light of Rome, Ga.

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Vennis Cutright and Atorlan Cutright.

She was a homemaker, a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, attended Mt. Washington United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

Jimmy O. Linger, 64, of Buckhannon, died Friday, March 9, 2007, in Fairmont General Hospital at Fairmont.

He was born Feb. 8, 1943, in Lewis County, a son of the late French Linger and Ressie Shoulders Linger.

On Dec. 1, 1963, he was married to Thelma Bennett Linger, who survives at Buckhannon.

Also surviving are four sons, French Linger of Buckhannon, Isaac Linger of Buckhannon, Jimmy Linger Jr. of Good Hope and Brian Linger of Buckhannon; two daughters, Cynthia Linger and Lori Linger, both of Buckhannon; three brothers, Ralph Linger of Weston, Norman Linger of Buckhannon and Carl Linger of Letter Gap; one grandson, Travis Mallett of Buckhannon; three granddaughters, Amy Linger and Clarissa Linger, both of Buckhannon, and Paris Linger of Lewis County; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Norma Campbell, Joann Starcher and Louise Hefner.

He was a health service worker at William R. Sharp Hospital and attended Message of Light Tabernacle. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles 4357 and Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598.

Virgil S. Linger Sr.

Virgil S. Linger Sr., 87, died Friday, June 1, 2007, at his home.

He was born Jan. 7, 1920, at Queens, the son of Bertie Rollins Linger and Anna Jane Linger.

Mr. Linger was a graduate of Buckhannon High School and was a corporal in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was a carpenter for more than 30 years and worked at Packard Electric prior to his retirement in 1982. Mr. Linger was a master clockmaker, fashioning clock works and decorative cases from mantle clocks to grandfather clocks. He was commissioned to make several clocks as presentation pieces, one of which was presented to Ross Perot. He was noted for his ability to repair antique clocks. He also enjoyed music and playing his organs, keyboards and stringed instruments. He was an active member of Warren Keynotes Organ Club.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Claricie B. Linger, whom he married March 23, 1940.

Other survivors include two sons, Virgil S. (Susan) Linger Jr. of North Canton, Ohio, and Rodney (Jane) Linger of Cortland, Ohio; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters; three brothers, Ross, Otis and Dwight Linger; and a sister, Verla Davis.

Burial will take place at Mt. Union Cemetery in Tallmansville following a service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, 95 S. Kanawha St. in Buckhannon, where calling hours will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Earl Lipscomb Jr., 55, a resident of the Blackman Flats community, Hambleton, departed this life Tuesday evening, July 24, 2007, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born Thursday, Dec. 6, 1951, at Parsons, a son of the late Earl Lipscomb Sr. and Virginia Emma Pennington Lipscomb.

He had never married.

He was a brother to one brother, Robert Lipscomb; one half brother, Virgil Lipscomb; one sister, Donna Simmons; five half sisters, Madeline Phillips, Juanita Chewning, Patricia Hawkins, Jean Burton and Hannah Henthorne; and several nieces and nephews.

He attended the schools of Tucker County and Randolph County. He was a former employee of Randolph County Sheltered Workshop. He loved to read and spend time with family and friends.

Gaylord L. Lockhart

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Gaylord Lee Lockhart, 72, who died May 7, 2007, following deteriorating health after a near-fatal automobile accident in 2002 and treatment for aggressive brain cancer, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Elk Hills Presbyterian Church near Big Chimney,.

Lockhart had a lifelong career in banking, serving at several financial institutions as an executive, including Elk National Bank in Big Chimney, as president; America Bank in Geneva, Ala., as vice president; Parkersburg National Bank; and Bank of West Virginia. He belonged to several community organizations and was an avid reader and writer.

Officiating at the service will be Lockhart’s daughter, the Rev. Dr. Teresa Lockhart Stricklen and the Rev. Jim Robinson, minister at Elk Hills. A covered-dish lunch will be provided by the ladies of the church after the service. Family members request that those people attending the memorial service wear the color red, Lockhart’s favorite color.

Lockhart was a resident of Cedar Ridge Center in Sissonville since 2002, and during his last days was cared for in the Hubbard Hospice House. Upon death, Lockhart’s body was donated to the Marshall University Medical School.

Bobby H. Loftis

Dr. Bobby H. Loftis died June 30, 2007, in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.

He was born July 8, 1929, at Mt. Airy, N.C., the son of the late Robert and Ethyl Loftis, and was married to Bobbie Wray Loftis, who preceded him in death Oct. 29, 2000.

Surviving are two sons, Philip D. and Barbara Loftis of Buckhannon and Christopher H. And Sheryl Loftis of Virginia Beach, Va.; and two daughters, Elizabeth A. and Jeffrey Dumas of Wheeling and Rebecca L. and Keith Foster of Fairmont. Two brothers, Jack Loftis of Mt. Airy, N.C., and Dale Loftis of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and a sister, Wilma Arnder of Goldsboro, N.C., also survive. His beloved grandchildren included Jessica Marie Hunter of Asheville, N.C., Catherine Loftis of Buckhannon, Daniel Bryan of New Martinsville, Nicole Bryan of Fairmont, Benjamin and Nickolas Smith of Fairmont and Tara, Trisha and Tyler Loftis of Virginia Beach, Va. He also delighted in his great-grandchildren, Alejandro Lopez Maldonado and Jade Bryan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

His parents and a granddaughter, Natalie Rose Bryan, also preceded him in death.

At his request, there will be no public visitation. A memorial celebration of his life and music ministry will be at 11 a.m. July 3 at First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Interment of his ashes will be in Heavner Cemetery, following cremation.

Dr. Loftis attended Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, received his master’s degree from the University of Florida at Gainsville, and his doctorate in music from West Virginia University. He was a veteran of the armed services, discharged honorably in 1962. He was a professor of music at West Virginia Wesleyan College from 1959 until his retirement in 1991. He served as chair of the music department at Wesleyan from 1971 until 1985. He was vice president of West Virginia College Music Educator’s Association. He also was a member of West Virginia Music Teacher’s Association and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the national leadership honorary. He received numerous awards for service from Wesleyan. It was his great joy to lead the music ministry of First United Methodist Church from 1959 until 1979 as choir director, and from 1979 to 2005 as organist. During his tenure and retirement, he presented many musical program for the church and for the United Methodist Women, who donated $10,000 in his honor toward renovation of the Rohrbough organ at Wesleyan. Dr. Loftis also lent his musical talents to various community activities, frequently providing music on short notice for funerals, weddings and other events. He also accompanied many musicians and groups in performances at Wesleyan.

George Theodore Loman, 88, of Arbovale, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2007, in Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins.

Mr. Loman was born March 3, 1919, at Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late Ernest and Ellen Erickson Loman.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Tracy Loman of Arbovale, three daughters, Patrica Cox and husband, Jim of Kinston, Ala., Jane Bonheim of Bethesda, Md., and Jina Eckhardt of Annapolis, Md.; one son, John S. Jones of Key West, Fla.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a graduate of New York University. He was an electrical engineer for AT&T and Bell Labs for 42 years in New York and New Jersey, where he helped invent the transistor radio.

He was the mayor of Berkley Heights, N.J., and was a world traveler. One of his hobbies was photography. After moving to West Virginia, he was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church, Durbin Lions Club, Arbovale Brotherhood and a volunteer at Green Bank Library.

There will be no visitation. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with the Rev. David Rittenhouse officiating. Joseph Lomanto, 83, of Thomas, passed away Nov. 8, 2007, in Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas.

He was born Dec. 29, 1923, at Thomas, a son of the late Guy Lomanto and Josephine Barbera.

He is survived by two sisters, Camay (Patrick) Popish of College Park, Md., and Josephine “Snookie” (Paul) Gennantonio of Highland, Md.; one sister-in-law, Lois Lomanto of Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam, Phillip and James.

Mr. Lomanto was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and American Legion Post 22. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the Korean Conflict. He was a coal miner and owner and operator of Joe’s Italian Supper Club in Thomas for many years.

Frank and Luene Currence Long of Mill Creek; one sister, Hazel Cool of Dianna; two grandchildren, Ashley Hannah Long and Ethan Marcus Long, both of Holly Meadows; a sister-in-law, Hilda Long of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Chester and Cecil Sterling Long; and two sisters, Irene and Arnetta Long.

He was a graduate of Pickens School. He was a labor foreman at Mt. Storm. He was an equipment operator for Dewey Wilfong, and a self-employed carpenter with his son, David, from 1984 until 1996. He was a past member of the Parsons City Council and a current member of the Parsons Park Board for several years. He attended Riverview Chapel Church. He was an avid bluegrass fan, having been instrumental with Pickin’ in Parsons. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was a kind and caring husband, father, papaw and brother, who will be sadly missed.

Milton Long, 91, of Onego, died Jan. 6, 2007 in Grant Memorial Hospital at Petersburg.

He was born Jan. 2, 1916, at Roaring Creek near Onego, a son of the late Sheridan Long and Mary Jane Vance Long.

He was married to Nellie Fern Vance Long, who preceded him in death Feb. 26, 1997.

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Long Ruddle and husband, Morris, of Onego; two brothers, John Long of Seneca Rocks and Kermit Long of Trout Run, Pa.

He was preceded in death by two daughters, Polly Marie and Teresa Robin; two granddaughters, Polly and Teresa; four brothers, Warren, Fred, Earl and Grover; and four sisters, Ana May, Beulah, Bertie and Hazel.

He was a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Seneca Rocks Presbyterian Church and a farmer, logger and timber cutter.

Janet M. Loudin

Janet M. Jackson Loudin, 88, a resident of Sago Road, Buckhannon, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in St. Joseph’s Hospital.

She was born Aug. 28, 1918, at Little Birch, Braxton County, a daughter of the late Ira Jonathan and Lucy Mae Stonestreet Jackson.

On April 10, 1937, she was married to Paul E. Loudin for 56 years until the time of his death on Dec. 19, 1993.

Surviving are four sons, Richard Loudin and wife, Carol, of Buckhannon, Edward Loudin and wife, Linda, of Morgantown, Roger Loudin and wife, Peggy, of Vienna, Va., and Ricky Loudin and wife, Patty, of Detroit, Mich.; two daughters, Carolyn Perry and husband, Buddy, of Indian Camp and Linda Wygal and husband, David, of Buckhannon; one daughter-in-law, Betty Edmonds Loudin of Ravenna, Ohio; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Maxine Freeman of Braxton County; one brother, Gerald Jackson of Braxton County; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were one son, Bobby Loudin; one brother, Gail Jackson; and one sister, Gladys Brown.

She served as a postal worker for the U.S. Postal Service at Imperial for many years. She was United Methodist by faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 14, at the funeral home with the Rev. Sue Lowther officiating. Mrs. Creta Rader Louk, 91, a resident of New Era Village near Belington, departed this life at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

She was born April 14, 1916, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Glenn and Deborah Cutright Rader.

On Oct. 27, 1941, in Maryland, she was united in marriage to Howard Louk, who survives at their home in Belington. They had celebrated 66 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Louk is survived by three sons, Laco Rader and wife, Lanora, Demoine Louk and wife, Jill, and Lunydol Louk and wife, Patricia; and one daughter, Laniece Hood and husband, Dale. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

She attended the schools of Randolph County and was employed as a staff helper at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio, from which she had retired. She was a member of Faithway Baptist Church near Belington.

Teresa Virginia Corcoran Louk, 89, went home to be with her lord and savior Sept. 25, 2007, in Valentines Personal Care home.

She was born April 19, 1918, at Thomas, a daughter of the late Luther and Sadie Hill.

She was married to the late Dale “Corkey” Corcoran, who preceded her in death April 11, 1953. She then married Loman Jack Louk, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Louk was the last surviving member of the Hill family.

She is survived by three sons, Jim Corcoran, Ray Corcoran and wife, Becky, and Jack Corcoran and wife, Patty; one daughter, Doris Williams and husband, Mike; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Hill, all of Elkins. Also surviving is a dear friend and companion, Brownie Fike; and several nieces and nephews. She was grandmother of seven, great-grandmother of nine and great-great-grandmother of one.

Four brothers preceded her in death, Ray, Ron, Gerald and Jim Hill; and one sister, Opal Boyles.

She was known as Mother Teresa to many others who were adopted by her love for them. She was a caring and loving Christian mother who set an example for all of us. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She was active in the Nazarene Church and her community. She enjoyed bowling, playing games and spending time with her family and friends, but most of all she loved the Lord.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Imogene R. Louke

Imogene R. Louke, 80, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday evening, May 4, 2007, in Davis Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness.

She was born March 21, 1927, at Norton, a daughter of the late James Hobart Lemons and the late Eda Pearl Reid Lemons.

She was married three times, first to Clyde C. Forinash, who preceded her in death, later to Norman Denzil Louke, who preceded her in death and later to Wilson “Brownie” Kennedy, who also preceded her in death.

Surviving are a daughter, Phyllis Jean Forinash Craig and husband, Kenny, of Middlebrook, Va.; one brother, Herbert Lemons and wife, Wanda, Mill Creek; a grandson, Aaron Sean Blessing and Heather; and a great-grandson, Aiden Craig Blessing, all of Staunton, Va. Two nephews, Eugene Rosencrance and James Herbert Lemons; a niece, Kay Camplese; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Also preceding her in death was a sister, Frances Rosencrance Snook.

Imogene attended the schools of Randolph County and was a homemaker. When able to, she loved to play music in nursing facilities in the Elkins area. Imogene was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62, Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 8, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Janet Jenkins and the Rev. Doug Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville. Edgar Benson Lowe, 89, a resident of Buckhannon, died Sunday, June 17, 2007, at his home.

He was born May 25, 1918, the son of the late Rev. Arthur Wilbert Lowe and Anna Grace Benson Lowe.

On Aug. 25, 1942, he was married to Jane Guthrie Lowe, who survives at Buckhannon.

Also surviving are one son, John A. Lowe of Buckhannon; one daughter, Linda L. Ogden and husband, Howard, of Hinkleville; one grandson, Dean Ogden and wife, Kanay, of Prestonburg, Ky.; one granddaughter, Heather A. He was a plumber and electrician for Shannons Hardware and a member of Nays Chapel United Methodist Church. He had served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, William Clyde Lowther; two daughters, Sheila Lowther of Parkersburg and Karen Willey and her husband, Mike, of Parkersburg; a son, Kenn Lowther and his wife, Angie, of Columbus, Ohio; four brothers, Walter William Arbogast of Indian Head, Md., David Arbogast of Harrisonburg, Va., Richard Arbogast of Bridgewater, Va., and Jeffrey Arbogast of Broadwater, Va.; five sisters, Evelyn Irene Arbogast of Parkersburg, Wanda Ware of Huttonsville, Linda Carolyne Simmons of Valley Head, Lucy Shannon of Elkins and Cindy Long Kanapolis, N.C.; five grandchildren, Kimberly and Dustin Willey, and Noah, Hannah and Benjamin Lowther; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald F. Lowther

Donald Forrest “Snork” Lowther, 77, a former resident of Hendricks, and a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Monday morning, Feb. 5, 2007, at the home.

He was born Friday, July 12, 1929, at Sugar Creek in Webster County, a son of the late Melville H. Lowther and Sarah A. Cogar Lowther.

He was formerly married to the former Carol Jane Loughry, who survives.

Surviving are one son, Donald F. Lowther Jr. and wife, Paula, of Hendricks; two daughters, Christina M. Worrell and husband, Harold Dean, of Carpon, Va., and Donna M. Bolinger and husband, John, of Hendricks; two brothers, Jesse D. “Buck” Lowther and wife, Pauline, of Leadmine and Charles G. Lowther and wife, Deloris, of Dailey; three sisters, Aretta J. Krause, Betty L. Humphrey Mothershed and wife, Bob, and Carol S. Sarvinas and husband, Bill, all of Sanford, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Matthew, Joshua, Heather, Casie, Jedediah, John and Samuel; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Tristen, Joshua and Shelby; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Dana Ray Lowther, Melville H. Lowther Jr. and Lester Gray Lowther; three sisters, Eula “Billie” Tunning, Josephine Mae Wilt and Myrtle Nell Lowther.

He attended the schools of Webster County. He was sergeant first class with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, having earned four Bronze Stars and a Silver Medal. He was an employee of the former Dorman Mills of Parsons, Frazee Lumber, Minear Lumber and Mullenax Lumber companies all of Tucker County, the former P.F.I. of Hendricks and the West Virginia Department of Highways. He was an avid outdoorsman.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday, Feb. 8, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Harley DeLeurere and The Rev. Greg Lanham will officiate and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman where the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign War will conduct full military rites. Joseph H. Lubin

Joseph Herbert Lubin, 85, of Franklin Street, Buckhannon, died at his home Oct. 16, 2007, under the care of Mountain Hospice.

He was born April 25, 1922, at Ebinben, Germany, a son of the late Herbert W. and Louise Simmedinger Lubin.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Elaine Heim Lubin, on March 24, 2007.

He is survived by three sons, John Lubin of Wildwood, N.J., Joseph Lubin of Atlantic City, N.J., and Michael Lubin of Buckhannon. Also surviving are one stepson, Barrett Birch of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and stepdaughters, Suzanne Pavluk of Sicklerville, N.J., and Michelle DeSimone of Buckhannon. Twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. He is also survived by one sister, Lottie Spaque of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Mr. Lubin was a former station master for New Jersey Transit. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army.

June E. Lubin

June Elaine Lubin, 61, a resident of Buckhannon and formerly of Pleasantville, N.J., died Saturday, March 24, 2007, in Grafton City Hospital at Grafton.

She was born May 11, 1945, at Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late Theodore and Mildred Patterson Heim.

Surviving are her husband, Joseph H. Lubin of Buckhannon; four children, Michelle DeSimone of Buckhannon, Suzanne Pavluk of New Jersey, Barrett Birch of Florida, and Michael Lubin of Buckhannon; two stepchildren of New Jersey; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Judith Kinzer of New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Theodore Heim II.

Mrs. Lubin will be returned to Atwood Peterson Funeral Home in Egg Harbor City, N.J., for services and burial. Dorothy Lutz

Dorothy Lutz, 84, a resident of Key Street, Elkins, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 20, 2007, in Colonial Place.

She was born Feb. 6, 1923, at Philadelphia, Pa., a daughter of the late William W. and Dorothy W. Blake Slaymaker.

On Sept. 5, 1953, at Elkins, she married Owen W. Lutz, who preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2006.

She is survived by two sons, Owen Tyler Lutz of Elkins and Donald Wees Lutz of Elkview; and two daughters, Devney Randall Friel of Elkview and Jennifer Lutz Hicks of Rockford, Tenn. Five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.

Mrs. Lutz was a graduate of James Madison College and had worked for the U.S. State Department after World War II and had served in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames and had been a volunteer at Davis & Elkins College for many years as a curator of the Darby Collection. She was a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.

At the request of Mrs. Lutz, her remains will be cremated. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. Eric L. Luzier

Eric Lynn Luzier, 58, of Davis, passed away Sept. 14, 2007, at his home. Death was attributed to cancer.

He was born Sept. 23, 1948, at Parsons, a son of the late David Allen and Ella Jean Beckman Luzier, who survives.

Also surviving are his ex-wife, Percie Hickman of Orlando; two sons, Christopher Luzier of Charleston and Cortney Luzier of Orlando; and one brother, Craig Luzier of Davis.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Rhett, in 1968.

Eric was employed as a truck driver. He was a member of FOE 936 of Davis, AFL-CIO and was affiliated with Davis United Methodist Church. He enjoyed deer hunting.

James E. Lycett

James E. “Jim” Lycett, 74, of Route 5, Buckhannon, died Saturday, April 21, 2007, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

He was born Aug. 1, 1932, at Washington, Pa., a son of the late Jesse O. and Elva Iris West Lycett.

He was united in marriage on Sept. 3, 1953, to Shirley Joan Roupe Lycett, who survives.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Elva Iris Bennett of Century; and three sons, James Edward Lycett Jr. of Buckhannon, Larry Jesse Lycett of Duncannon, Pa., and Jack Martin Lycett of Glendale, Ariz. Nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Gloria Jean Smith.

Mr. Lycett was retired from the Sweetheart Cup Corp. in 1994. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park Veterans Section. The Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663, the Frank B. Frances L. Lynch

Frances Louise Lynch, 85, of Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in Serenity Care Home at Buckhannon.

She was born May 13, 1922, at Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Charles Luther Lynch and Fannie Rebecca Jones Lynch.

She was the last surviving member of her family, having been preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Lynch Williams.

She was a vocational home economics teacher with the Upshur County Board of Education and a member of First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon. Frances graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1944 with a bachelor’s degree in home economics. She earned a master’s of science degree in home economics at West Virginia University. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, West Virginia, American Home Economics Association, Home Economics Pioneers, American Association of University Women, Buckhannon Women’s Club, United Methodist Women and West Virginia Wesleyan Emeritus Club. She was a member of the choir at First United Methodist Church for many years.

She began teaching at Buckhannon-Upshur High School (Tennerton Division) in the late 1940s. She was an adviser to the Future Homemakers of America. During her teaching career, she also supervised student teachers from West Virginia Wesleyan and Glenville colleges and West Virginia and Marshall universities. She retired from Buckhannon-Upshur High School after the two divisions were consolidated. She will be greatly missed by her friends.

Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday, Sept. 13, from noon until 2 p.m., the service hour. The Rev. Billee Scott Mick will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery at Clarksburg. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Frances L.
