Mr. Billie “Bill” Tacy, 77, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away at
1:51 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital.

Billie C. Tacy
Mr. Billie C. Tacy, 77, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away at 1:51 p.m.
Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital. Although suffering from an
extended illness, Mr. Tacy’s death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Oct. 6, 1927, at Huttonsville, a son of the late Walter C. Tacy and
the late Eulah Simmons Tacy Yount. He was twice married, first to Mildred E.
Carder Tacy, who preceded him in death in 1978. In 1980, he married June
Williams Winkler Tacy who survives at Huttonsville. The Tacys had recently
celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.
Also surviving are three sons, Mickie L. Tacy and wife, Susan, of Elkins,
Clarence E. Tacy of Elkins, Randy L. Tacy and wife, Carol, of Elkins; two
daughters, Lois J. Martin and husband, Chip, and Donna J. Cochran and husband,
Chuck, all of Webster Springs; a brother, Frankie L. Tacy and wife, Gisela, of
Huttonsville; a sister, Gatewood “Peg” Carr Godwin of Mill Creek; 10
grandchildren, Travis Tacy, Matthew Tacy, Candice McBride, Samuel Campbell,
Brandy Dalton, Tina Farley, Tammy Anderson, Clinton Cochran, Corey Cochran and
Lori Lynch; and several nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death was a
grandson, Cody Tacy.
Mr. Tacy was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and was a veteran of the
U.S. Army. He was bricklayer and was employed for many years by Phillips and
Roth and retired from the S.S Joe Burford Co. He was a member of the Brick
Layers Union and the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church. He was an avid fisherman
and hunter.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in
Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, from the
funeral home chapel with Rev. Joanne Glaser officiating. Interment will follow
in the Brick Church Cemetery near Huttonsville where the presentation of the
American flag will be made by members of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion.

Dorothy M. Tacy
Dorothy Mae Tacy, 91, of Cass, passed away Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at
Pocahontas Memorial Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wallace & Wallace
Funeral Home in Arbovale. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at

Joe Takacs
Joe Takacs, 79, a resident of Galloway, passed away at 10:18 p.m. Wednesday,
Feb. 9, 2005, in United Hospital Center.
He was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Galloway, a son of the late August and Elizabeth
Kuruez Takacs.
He was twice married, first, to Martha Lee Reedy, who preceded him in death.
Second, to Icie M. Bise Takacs on Dec. 26, 1959, who survives in Galloway. They
celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary Dec. 26, 2004.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Martha “Libby” Hurst and
husband, Robert, of Galloway; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Bise and wife,
Esther, of Wilmington, N.C.; two brothers, Steve Takacs and John Takacs, both of
Baltimore, Md.; reared one niece, Tacey Rickey and husband, Shawn, of Dover,
Del.; reared one nephew, Joseph Mars and wife, Melissa, of Philippi; four
grandchildren, Bobby Hurst, Robbie Bise, Jason Bise and Amanda Bise; one
great-nephew and one great-niece, Joseph Farris and Morgan Leija; one
great-grandson, Andrew Bise.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Andy Takacs.
He retired from Badger Coal Co. as a continuous mine operator, served in the
U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of the United Mine Workers District
31 and was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi,
from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service
hour, with Pastor Lois Sandy officiating. Interment will follow in Flemington

Ella Rose Talbott, 74, a resident of Route 1, Belington, the Talbott Road,
passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 10, 2005, at her home.

Ella Rose Talbott
Mrs. Ella Rose Talbott, 74, a resident of the Talbott Road, Kingsville
Community, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 10, 2005, at her home.
She was born Nov. 16, 1930, at New Martinsville, W.Va., a daughter of the late
Richard E. and Anna Wayt Scott.
During her teenage years, Mrs. Talbott lived with the late Harry and Georgia
Stephenson and their daughter, a special friend, Patty Bryan, who resides in New
Cumberland, W.Va.
On April 8, 1956, in Oakland, Md., she was married to Darroll L. Talbott, Sr.
who preceded her in death on July 28, 2004.
Surviving is a son, Darroll L. Talbott, Jr. of Elkins; a daughter, Cynthia D.
Narkevic of Elkins; a sister, Maude Heaton of Weirton, W.Va.; five
grandchildren, Michael L. Talbott, Deborah K. Scott, Samuel C. Talbott, Sarah G.
Talbott and Chelsea A. Talbott Narkevic; and one step-grandchild, Crystal
Williams. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a son, Hoy G. Talbott, II; six brothers, Paul,
Robert, Cliff, Bill, Chuck and Don Scott; and one sister, Fern Jones.
Mrs. Talbott was employed by Weirton Steel, Barbour Publishing Co. and retired
as secretary for Poling Trucking. She was a member of the First Baptist Church
of Elkins, Philippi Chapter No. 41 Order of the Eastern Star, the American
Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in
Elkins. Philippi Chapter No. 41 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a
memorial service at 7 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel. Funeral services
will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr.

Reta Talbott
Reta Talbott, 95, of Sebring, Fla., died at 12:55 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2005, at
Fairway Pines in Sebring, Fla.
She was born Feb. 21, 1910, at Sand Run, the daughter of the late Joshua George
and Mary Francis Harris George.
She was married to Guy H. Talbott, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Robert “Bob” N. Talbott and wife, Connie, of Avon
Park, Fla.; one grandson, Randy Queen of Phoenix, Ariz.; two granddaughters,
Tara Lee Talbott of Tallahassee, Fla., and Cathy McCallister of Xenia, Ohio; and
one great-grandson, Rob Queen of Phoenix, Ariz.
She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church in Buckhannon.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Heavner Cemetery at Buckhannon
with the Rev. Robert Poling officiating. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in

Clay S. Tallman Jr.
Mr. Clay Spencer Tallman Jr., 83, a resident of Route 1, Montrose, passed away
Tuesday evening, Nov. 8, 2005.
He was born July 18, 1922, at Auburn, Doddridge County, the second son of the
late Spencer Tallman Sr. and the late Harriett Hurst Tallman. He was raised on
the Hurst Family Farm. Surviving are several cousins, Ruth Hurst Boyer, Stokes
A. Hurst Jr., William Addison Hurst, Patricia Sue Hurst Wright and Lois Hurst
Steeber; and many friends who will greatly miss him. Also preceding him in death
was a brother.
Mr. Tallman served in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was honorably
discharged in 1946. He was a graduate of the School of Agriculture at West
Virginia University and was a stockman and farmer. For many years he held a
private pilot’s license and kept his plane at his farm. In earlier years, he
was active in the community and the Farm Bureau. He was a former ASCS County
Commissioner, a member of West Virginia Polled Hereford Association and, in
1963, was presented with the West Virginia State Conservation Farmer of the Year
Award.

Clay S. Tallman Jr.
Mr. Clay Spencer Tallman Jr., 83, a resident of Route 1, Montrose, passed away

Denver E. Tallman
Denver Eugene “Gene” Tallman, 74, a resident of 106 Industrial Park Road in
Belington, departed this life at 11:01 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2005, in the
Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown after suffering a fall earlier in the week.
He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
He was born Sept. 24, 1930, at Belington, the second son of the late William
Jennings and Helen Lenora Wright Tallman.
He was twice married. First on July 1, 1949, he was married to the former Rita
Rosalee Wiseman, who preceded him in death on March 31, 1991. Secondly, he was
married to the former Mildred Faye Booth on Nov. 30, 1991, who survives at their
home in Belington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Gregory Eugene Tallman of
Elkins, Eric Rodney Tallman and wife, Lois, of Belington, Jeffrey Wayne Tallman
of Elkins, and L.J. Tallman and wife, Tammy, of Belington; two sisters,
Genevieve Arbogast and husband, Norman, of Belington, and Janet Russell and
husband, Jim, of Texas; three brothers, Herman Tallman and wife, Mary, of
Florida, Larry Tallman and wife, Bridget, of Belington, and Gary “Charlie”
Tallman and wife, Shirley, of Belington. Also surviving are grandchildren Dennis
Tallman, Brittney Archibald and husband, Joel, Tina Tallman, Trent and Taylee
Tallman, and Jeremy Harold; and one great-grandchild, Mason Archibald.
Stepchildren surviving are Richard Shomo and wife, Nancy, Tiffany Ware, Vicki
Meadows and husband, Chip, and Christy Costakis and husband, John.
Stepgrandchildren surviving are Kim and Josh Shomo, John and Adam DiVenere,
Jason and Amie Meadows, and John Curtis and Jacob Costakis.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one
brother, Gerald Tallman.
Mr. Tallman attended the schools of Barbour County and was a member of the Grace
Chapel United Methodist Church. In his former years he was employed by Allegheny
Freight Lines where he was a truck driver. He had also been part owner and
operator of the Tallman and McCoy Trucking Co., and was former owner and
operator of Tallman Auto Sales in Belington. In his former years, he was an avid
hunter and race car driver. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and
was known for his great love of car racing and card playing. He was an honorary
member of the VFW in Belington, a member of the Moose Lodge of Elkins, the Elks
Club of Buckhannon and various NASCAR fan clubs.
Mr. Tallman was instrumental in the development of the Hickory Heights Addition
in the town of Belington.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 4 p.m. to
9 p.m. on Sunday, and on Monday until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final
rites will be conducted from he funeral home parlor with the Rev. Arden Beck
officiating. At the request of the deceased, his remains will be cremated and a
private family committal service will be conducted at the Fraternal Cemetery at

George Taylor Jr.
George Taylor Jr., 78, of Harrisonburg, Va., died Monday, March 28, 2005, at
Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.

Opal D. Taylor
Opal D. Crawford Taylor, 87, a resident of Route 1, Brushy Fork community,
Bridgeport, passed away Friday, Sept. 23, 2005, in Mansfield Place at Philippi.
She was born Aug. 7, 1918, at Rock Cave in Upshur County, a daughter of the late
Earl and Ema Withers Crawford.
She was united in marriage May 21, 1939, to Walter Glenn Taylor, who preceded
her in death Oct. 18, 1995.
Surviving are two sons, Dale and wife, Norma Taylor, of Route 1, Bridgeport, and
James and wife, Cheryl Taylor, of Belington; one sister, Anna Bell Hartway of
Florida; one brother, Eugene Crawford of North Carolina; four grandchildren,
Anissa and husband, Michael, Jason and wife, Roberta, Travis and wife, Sarah,
and Derek and wife, Carla; four great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Lindsey, Lauren
and Addison; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Jaylyn Smith.
Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by one infant son; three brothers, Clarence
Crawford, Earl Crawford and Maurice Crawford; and three sisters, Erma Pratt, Ada
Baxa and Vivian Jene.
Mrs. Taylor graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School with the class of 1938.
She was a member of the Brushy Fork Homemaker Club and served as Barbour County
Bell in 1989. Mrs. Taylor was a former member of the Rachel Chapter 47 OES of
Flemington. She served as club leader for 17 years with the Brushy Fork 4-H
Club. Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church since
1939, where she taught adult Sunday school class.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi
today from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., the service hour.
Speaker Lewis Bartlett will officiate and interment will follow in Mt. Vernon

William B. Taylor
William B. Taylor, 96, a resident of the Old Seneca Road, Elkins, passed away at
5 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, at Colonial Place.
He was born March 1, 1909, at Beverly, a son of the late N. Phay Taylor and Ida
Stutzman Taylor.
He was formerly married to Eleanor Von-Allman, who passed away in 1988. On Oct.
18, 1957, he was married to the former Marguerite Daniels, who survives.
Also surviving is one grandson, Scott Taylor and wife, Julie, of Daytona Beach,
Fla.; two granddaughters, Rebecca Phillippi and husband, Tom, of Montgomery,
Texas, and Kimberly LaBarre and husband, Jim, of Edgewater, Fla. Five
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding him in death was one son, W. Kenneth Taylor; four brothers, Dale S.
Taylor, Roland Taylor, Odin K. Taylor and James L. Taylor; one sister, Margaret
Rightmire; one granddaughter, Deborah Taylor; and two daughters-in-law,
Constance and Shirley Taylor.
Mr. Taylor attended the Beverly Grade School, First Ward School and Green Bank
Grade School. He was a 1927 graduate of Elkins High School, where he lettered in
sports and music. He attended Davis & Elkins College while working at the
old City Restaurant. During World War II, he was employed by Bethlehem Ship
Yards in Baltimore, Md., and later as a Pullman conductor on troop trains. He
retired from Columbia Gas Co. in 1971 after nearly 33 years of service. He was a
member of United Travelers for more than 50 years. He was a member of First
Baptist Church of Elkins and a member of Bartlett Bible Class of the church. He
attended the first 4-H camp in the United States at Elkwater.

Rebecca Letitia Teets, 92, of Eglon, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2005, at
Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md.

Paul Telemeco
Paul Telemeco, 82, of Brandon, Fla., passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Jocelyn E. Telemeco; two daughters, Debbie Telemeco-Andres
and her husband, Roy, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Kathy Richards and her
husband, Joseph, of Austintown, Ohio; one brother, Christopher and his wife,
Margaret, of Ft. Washington, Md.; one sister, Helen Telemeco of Beverly; six
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Telemeco came to the Tampa Bay area in 1970 from North Hollywood, Calif. He
was a commercial helicopter instructor for Alpine Helicopter, Lake Tahoe,
Calif., and a U.S. Air Force senior airmen, veteran of World War II. He had
owned Telemeco TV Clinic in Riverview from 1972 until 1989. Funeral services
were held March 28 at the Stowers Brandon Chapel. The family received friends
one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make

Mary Pauline Elsey Templeton, 91, a resident of 633 Central St. in Elkins since
1947, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2005, at Davis Memorial
Hospital.

Mary P. Templeton
Mary Pauline Elsey Templeton, 91, a resident of 633 Central St., Elkins
since 1947, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2005, at Davis
Memorial Hospital.
She was born Thursday, July 2, 1914, at Amboy, a daughter of the late Albert
Spencer Elsey and Ada Fike Elsey.
On July 8, 1942, at Cumberland, Md., at the First Presbyterian Church by the
Rev. William A. Eisenberger, she was married to Andrew Robert Templeton, who
preceded her in death April 22, 1998, after celebrating 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters, Ada Rosemary Templeton Zeni and husband, Alan, of
Morgantown and Sue Ellen Templeton Johnson and husband, Donald, of Elkins; four
grandchildren, Alan and Amanda Zeni and Donnie and Jessica Johnson.
Pauline was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in
death besides her parents and husband were one son, Dr. Andrew Robert Templeton
Jr., a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve; one infant grandson, William Seth
Johnson; two brothers, Clarence and John Elsey; and five sisters, Gertrude
Durst, Quinten Forman, Elva McDowell, Beulah Lipscomb and Mae Luzier.
She was a graduate of Aurora High School at Aurora. She attended West Virginia
Wesleyan College, Davis & Elkins College, Marshall University and Fairmont
State College, from which she graduated. Mrs. Templeton taught school at Preston
County for seven years and at Belleview, Eglon and Aurora. She also
substituted in the Elkins area schools for many years. She was always interested
in children's works such as 4-H and scouts. She was instrumental in restarting
scouts in Elkins in 1949. She was a member of Randolph Chapter 74 Order of the
Eastern Star, from which she received her 50-year pin in 1983, the
Elkins-Randolph County Senior Center and was active in the First United
Methodist Church at Elkins.
The family will receive friends at First United Methodist Church of Elkins
Monday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Ellis
E. Conley will officiate and interment will follow at the Aurora Cemetery at
Aurora.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial
contributions to the First United Methodist Church, 315 Kerens Ave., Elkins,

Alvin P. Tenney
Alvin P. Tenney, 43, of Belington, went to be with our Lord Saturday, April, 16,
2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital after a courageous, two-year battle with
leukemia and complications from his second stem-cell transplant.
He was born Sept. 28, 1961, a son of the late William Tenney and Dorothy Cross
Tenney, who survives in Belington.
Also surviving are his wife, Crystal White Tenney; one son, Brandon Tenney; and
two stepchildren, Joshua Weese and Brooke Weese, all of Belington. He is
survived by eight brothers and five sisters, Stan Tenney and wife, “CheChe,”
of Fairmont, Martin “Rusty” Tenney and wife, Nancy, of San Antonio, Texas,

Alvin was a veteran with 25 years in the U.S. Army serving in both Operation
Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was employed as a school bus driver
with the Barbour County Board of Education. He was a member of Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 410 Belington serving as a member of the color guard for many
years. He attended the schools of Barbour County graduating with the class of
1980. He was a member of WVEIA and PEIA for school service personnel and a
Methodist by faith.
Alvin was a loving and faithful husband to Crystal and loving and giving father
to Brandon, Joshua and Brooke. He enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with his
family and friends.

Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Charles William Tenney, 84, of 52 Trubie Run Road, Buckhannon, died Saturday,
Nov. 19, 2005, at his home under the care of Peoples Hospice of Clarksburg.
He was born Oct. 9, 1921, at Trubie Run, a son of the late Floyd J. Tenney and
Fannie Shockey Tenney.
On April 4, 1964, he was married to Rosemary Scott Tenney, who survives in
Buckhannon.
Also surviving are five sons, Lennie and wife, Carol Tenney, of Buckhannon,
David and wife, Christinia Tenney, and their three children of Norton, John and
wife, Florence Tenney, Randy and wife, Dodie Tenney, and Chris Tenney and fiance,
Lisa McCormick, all of Buckhannon; two daughters, Diana and husband, Jim
Gregory, and Mary and husband, Randy Hawkins, all of Buckhannon; two grandsons,
Bryan O’Neil and wife, Lisa Tenney, of Maryland and Bradley Warren Tenney of
Fairmont; eight granddaughters, Claudia Tenney of Charleston, Stephanie Hawkins,
Samantha Hawkins, Carly Gregory, Amanda Tenney Morgan Tenney, Cassie Tenney and
Emily Tenney, all of Buckhannon; one stepgranddaughter, Brittany Gregory, of
Buckhannon; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Tenney of Maryland; six

Gerald O. Tenney, 84, of Route 1, French Creek, died Thursday, May 5, 2005, at
his home.
He was born March 15, 1921, in Upshur County, a son of the late Henry Walter and
Mary Adaline Winemiller Tenney.
He was united in marriage on Aug. 7, 1943 to Irene Russell Tenney, who survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Deloris Hyre and husband, Maurice, of
French Creek and Greta Goodwin and husband, Johnie, of Amherst, Ohio; one son,
Duane Tenney and wife, Delores, of Painesville, Ohio; five grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren. Also several nieces and nephews survive.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Mr. Tenney was a member of the Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where he had
served as a Lay Leader.

Norma Elizabeth Tenney, 84, of Norton, passed away March 9, 2005.
Norma was born Feb. 12, 1921, in Tallmansville, to the late Hazel Maude and
Jacob Arthur Bailey.
Norma retired from Barberton Schools after many years of service as a cook. She
was a longtime member of Akron Baptist Temple and worked in the church nursery.
In her free time, Norma enjoyed quilting and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kiser
Tenney; and brothers, Arthur, Ward and Ralph Bailey.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon and Ray Redhead; sons, Vernon and Karen

Randall Allen Tenney, 28, a resident of Route 2, French Creek, the Waterloo
Community, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at United Hospital Center, following a
lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born June 19, 1977, at Buckhannon, a son of George and Patricia Ware
Tenney of Route 2, French Creek.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Jennifer DePoy and
husband, Eric, of Buckhannon; three brothers, Keith Tenney and wife, Rachell, of
Buckhannon, George Tenney Jr. and wife, Nichole, and Donald Tenney and fiancee,
Rochell, all of Route 2, French Creek; several nieces and nephews; his fiancee,
Shandy Teter, of Route 2, French Creek; paternal grandfather and paternal
stepgrandmother, Dona and Sylvia Tenney of Buckhannon; and maternal grandfather,
Frank Ware of Route 2, French Creek.
He was a skidder operator for French Creek Forestry and a Methodist by faith. He
enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and camping.

Sandra Jo Tenney, 66, a resident of Tallmansville, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005,

On Jan. 31, 1959, she was married to Kenneth Tenney, who survives at
Tallmansville.

Kenneth Tenney Jr. and wife, Melissa, of Tallmansville and Jeanette White and

Thomas J. “Jeff” Tenney, 92, a resident of the Adolph Community, passed away
at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at his home. He had been in his usual
health and death was unexpected.
He was born Feb. 10, 1912, at Hemlock, a son of the late Thomas J. Tenney and
Nancy K. Kittle Tenney.
On Jan. 9, 1931, at Palace Valley, he was married to Violet Emma Daniels Tenney,
who preceded him hi death.
He is survived by four daughters, Judith Phillips and husband, Bob, and Dorthy
Harlan and husband, Bill, all of Adolph, Janet Broschart of Cassity and Pamela
Finlen and husband, Ronald, of Mill Creek; one son, William Tenney, and wife,
Linda, of Tallmansville; two daughters-in-law, Maxine Tenney of Gettysburg, Pa.,
and Ellen Tenney of Cassity; one sister, Blanch Ball of New Jersey; 29
grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his in-laws; Robert and Cora Daniels; three sons,
James, Thomas Jr. and Jerry Tenney; six brothers, Sam, Dave, Pete, Conrad, Ed
and Simmion Tenney; four sisters, Cindy, Ina, Wilda and Jemima; one
granddaughter, Crystal Phillips; and one great-grandson, Austin Finlen.
He worked many years in the coal mines and in the woods as a timber cutter and
was an expert teamster. He enjoyed farming, gardening and trail riding with his
family and friends. He also enjoyed horse shows and sales and never knew a
stranger. He had many many friends. He always expressed how much he thought of
his grandchildren, Shawn, R.J., Shelby, Chad, Kodi, Guyanna, Toni and Travis,
and his special friend, Patty Simmons, all of whom visited with him often. He
was a Methodist by faith.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Mill Creek Cemetery
with the Rev. Charlie Ford and the Rev. Randy Long officiating. Interment will

Thomas Junior Tenney, 76, a resident of the Grafton City Hospital Nursing Care
Facility at Grafton departed this life early Sunday morning, Jan. 30, 2005, at
the care facility. He had been in declining health for quite some time.
He was born May 9, 1928, at Belington, a son of the late Thomas Jack and
Florence Tenney.
On Oct. 26, 1950, he was united in marriage to Nina Marie Tenney, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Clarence Ronald Tenney and James William Tenney;
six daughters, Phyllis Tenney, Margarite Rose Tenney Kimble, Alice Patricia
Tenney, Peggy Tenney, Chloe Tenney and Beverly Tenney; one sister, three
brothers, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son.
Mr. Tenney attended the schools of Barbour County and was retired from sawmill
employment in Moorefield and was a Protestant by faith.

Bessie Teter
Bessie Teter, 84, a former resident of Valley Bend and a resident of 100 Tallman
Ave., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at 12:10 p.m., in Davis Memorial
Hospital where she was admitted on Monday. She had been in failing health;
however, her death was unexpected.
Born Feb. 18, 1920, at Valley Bend, she was the daughter of the late French J.
and Monie G. Wiseman Wegman.
Bessie was united in marriage to Woodrow Teter, who preceded her in death in
December 1981.
She is survived by one daughter, Amber Howes of Winchester, Va.; one son, James
Teter of Alpharetta, Ga.; two sisters, Flossie Louk of Hopewell, Va., and
Rachael Arbogast of Elkins; and one brother, Richard “Dick” Wegman of Mill
Creek.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Alesia Teter and Shannon Teter, Brian
Howes and Lindsie, Madison and Sarah Teter; one great-granddaughter, Haley
Taylor; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Preceding her in
death besides her parents and husband were her father-in-law and mother-in-law,
Ken and Ada Teter; paternal grandparents, Henry and Ann Wegman and Albert and
Sara Wiseman; two sisters, Coral McCauley and Fannie Holt; and four brothers,
Henry, Robert, Howard and Warner “Bud” Wegman.
Bessie was employed at Streamline Market for nine years as assistant manager.
She also was a clerk at A & P Store and had worked for Reidboard Brothers
for six years. Bessie was also formerly employed at a produce store for six
years. She was a wonderful cook, homemaker, wife, sister and mother, also
adopting and raising her two children. She loved crocheting afghans and, in her
lifetime, probably crocheted close to a thousand of them.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Chapel Church of Beverly and attended the Old
Bradley School on Bradley Mountain near Valley Bend. Bessie will be greatly
missed by her family and friends and will remain in their hearts forever.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel Saturday after 6
p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Rev. J. Michael Allen, pastor of Faith Baptist Chapel Church, will officiate

Hubert D. Teter II
Hubert Daniel “Danny” Teter II, 48, a resident of the East Dailey community
for the past 48 years, went to watch over his heavenly flock Saturday, March 12,
2005, at 5:40 p.m., at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Danny had been
battling cancer since June 2003.
He was born Oct. 15, 1956, in Elkins, a son of the late Hubert D. and Argle G.
Warner Teter.
On Sept. 11, 1982, he was married to the former Donna Elza Teter, who survives
at their East Dailey farm.
He was a special father and mentor to one son, Zachary D. Teter, a freshman at
West Virginia University, one daughter, Natasha D. Teter, a freshman at Tygarts
Valley High School; one sister and brother-in-law, Portia Lee and James Dean of
East Dailey; and two nephews, James and Mathew Dean.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandparents, “Pet” and Lura
Mullenax Warner; and his paternal grandparents, Don L. and Cleo Tingler Teter.
Danny was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1974, where
he was a linebacker for the TVHS Bulldogs. Danny was a self-employed farmer,
where he and his family had earned the Tygarts Valley Soil Conservation District
Farmer for 2000 and 2004, Soil and Water Conservation Achievement Award for
2000, Woodsmen Conservation Award for 2000 and fourth in the West Virginia
Conservation Farmer. He was a supporter of the Randolph County 4-H Livestock
Fair and was a member of the board of Southern States, Randolph County Service
Committee, American Sheep Industry Association, Randolph County Farm Bureau,
West Virginia Cattlemens Association, Randolph-Tucker Livestock Association, 4-H
member and the United Suffolk Sheep Association. Danny was a State Livestock
Grader through the West Virginia University School of Veterinary Science. He was
a successful farmer and advised not only his family but other farmers throughout
the community. He also leaves behind a special companion, his border collie,
Tillie.

John C. Teter, 64, a resident of the Highland Park community, passed away
Tuesday, June 14, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient
since Friday. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Randolph County.
On Jan. 3, 2003, he was united in marriage to the former Sandra Louise
“Sandy” Vanscoy, who survives at Highland Park.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ann Swindell of
Jacksonville, Fla., and Angela Elizabeth Fridley of Virginia; a son, Jeffery
Alan Teter of Winchester; a stepdaughter, Becky Vanscoy of Twilight, Va.; and a
stepson, Darius Leary of Elkins. Also surviving are several grandchildren,
nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was an infant sister; a daughter, Christina Diane Teter;
and a son, Mike Teter.
John was formerly employed by Kelly Foundry and Bata Shoe Co. in Parsons. He was
an avid hunter and fisherman and loved woodworking, making cabinets, shelves,
gun cabinets and lots of other items. John was a Protestant by faith. He will be
sadly missed by those who truly loved him.

Lena Virginia Bonner Teter, 93, one of the last generation of the Flanagan Hill
community in Red Creek, passed away Dec. 4, 2005, in Nella’s Nursing Home at
Elkins.
She was born Jan. 4, 1912, at Flanagan Hill, a daughter of the late Richard
Pearl and Girtha Flanagan Bonner.
Her husband, Ted Edgar Teter, preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by one son, Douglas E. (and Carol) Teter of Red Creek; five
daughters, Gaye K. Yeary of Moore, Okla., Wanda J. Kisner of Zephyrhills, Fla.,
Doris Bonner of Parsons, Barbara K. (and Lee A.) Rohrbaugh of Dryfork and Wilma
F. (and John) Hedrick of Mathias; one daughter-in-law, Louise Armentrout (Teter)
of Red Creek; 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in
death by one son, Lewis L. Teter; one granddaughter, Pamela Sue Teter; one
brother, Jason Bonner; one infant brother; and three sisters, Alta Smith, Bessie
Carr and Mary Simmons.
Mrs. Teter was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a life long member
of the Flanagan Hill United Methodist Church.

sisters, Dorothy Cunningham and Rita Roselle.
Mrs. Teter was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1946. She also
attended Jefferson School of Commerce. She was a homemaker and had worked as a
bookkeeper prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Daughters of the
American Revolution for 15 years. She was one of the first women elders of Scott
Memorial Presbyterian Church of Alpena, where she was a member. She held various
offices in the CEO over the last 36 years. She also served as
secretary-treasurer of the church.

James Leonard Tewell, 96, of Colonial Place in Elkins, passed away Monday,
Nov. 21, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 20, 1909, at Davis, a son of the late Moses D. and Nettie
Burley Tewell.
He is survived by his wife, Elpha Williams Tewell of Elkins; two daughters,
Darla Tewell and husband, Fred Sypher, of Westminister, Md., and Kathy Tewell of
Manassas; and seven sisters, Pauline Richardson, Dorothy Gruden, Norma Kilby,
Mary Miller, Suzanne Warbritton, Barbara Totedo and Charlotte Moore.
He was preceded in death by two bothers, Fred and Dave Tewell; and five sisters,
Eleanor Cornelius, Ruth Cragg, Mollie Tewell, Helen Heironimus and Elsie
Geduldig.
Mr. Tewell was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Before retiring, he was employed by
the federal government as a supervisor in the Navy yard in Washington, D.C.
Friends will be received from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Hinkle Funeral Chapel in
Davis. At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. A memorial
service will be at the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev.

Roberta F. Thacker
Roberta F. Thacker, 91, of French Creek, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at the
Amherst Manor in Amherst, Ohio.
She was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Durbin, a daughter of the late Ralph and Grace
Lance Young.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Delphin Thacker, who died
in 1987.
For the past five years, Roberta had made her home with her daughter, Kay L.
Winebrenner, in Amherst, Ohio.
She is also survived by one daughter-in-law, Phyllis Thacker of Buckhannon, nine
grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Neale Thacker, who died in 2003; one
son-in-law, Francis Winebrenner; two sisters, Hazel Pennington and Willa Score;
and two brothers, Paul Young and infant, Festus Young.
Mrs. Thacker lived most of her life in French Creek and during World War II, she
worked in Washington, D.C. From 1950 to 1984, she was a postal clerk in French
Creek, where she also trained postal employees to become postmasters. Along with
her husband, Delphin, they owned and operated a gift shop at French Creek State
Game Farm from 1955 to 1980. Throughout their married life, they also ran a
turkey farm. Mrs. Thacker enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was a member of
French Creek Presbyterian Church, where she was the church organist for 30
years. She also taught Sunday school.
Friends were received Monday at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. Mrs.
Thacker will be moved to the French Creek United Methodist Church today, where
she will lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev.
Nancy Killingsworth and the Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. Interment will

Keith Lawrence Thompson, 85, a resident of the Crystal Springs community,
Elkins, departed this life Sunday morning, Dec. 4, 2005, in Davis Memorial
Hospital.
He was born Sunday, Sept. 19, 1920, at Glady, a son of the late Emery Ezra
Thompson and Georgia Anna Arbogast Thompson.
On Aug. 28, 1944, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Phyllis Pearl
Wilt, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Rob Thompson and wife, Julie, of Catlettsburg, Ky.;
one daughter, Roberta Anne Collette and husband, Robert, of Woodstock, Va.; one
brother, Myron M. Thompson and wife, Annabelle, of Elkins; one sister, JoAnn
Stiles and husband, Frank, of Murphy, N.C.; six grandchildren, Ashley Jill
Thompson, Robert “Bo” Thompson Jr., Robert S. Collett III, Kimberli Collett,
James Collett and Philip Collett, nine great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, McClure V., Edmund A., Emery E. Jr.,
Hucrim M., Maurice L. and Rupert L.; and two sisters, Frankie I. Thompson and
Lorraine Tate.
He attended the school at Glady and Bemis High School. He had worked for
Columbia Gas as a truck driver for 31 years, retiring during 1985. He was a
member of First United Methodist Church at Elkins. He was a member of the Elkins
Masonic Lodge 108 AF & AM.

Leroy J. Thorn
Mr. Leroy Joseph Thorn, 84, a resident of Route 1, the Audra Road in Belington,
departed this life at 10:19 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, at Talbott Personal
Care Home in Belington. He had been in declining health for quite some time.
He was born March 7, 1921, in Barbour County, a son of the late Cecil and
Bernice Swick Thorn.
On July 21, 1940, in Monterey, Va., he was united in marriage to the former
Eureka McCauley, who survives at their residence in Belington.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Thorn is survived by two daughters, Sheila Ann
Poling and husband, Bobby, of Belington and Linda Sue Strader of Murrells Inlet,
S.C.; one sister, Lucille Petrick of Belington; two grandsons, Brian Poling and
wife, Ronda, of Belington and Eric Strader of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and one
granddaughter, Kimberly Strader of Front Royal, Va.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Nelson
Thorn.
Mr. Thorn attended the schools of Barbour County, was a veteran of the U.S. Army
serving during World War II and was honorably discharged as private first class.
He had participated in the campaigns of the Western Pacific, Luzon and New
Guinea. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal with
two bronze stars and received the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze
star. In his former years, he worked in the wood manufacturing field having been
employed by Laurel Mountain Wood Products and Masketeers Inc. and retired from
Leo P. Ware and Son in Belington. He was the owner and operator of Thorn’s Fur
and Ginseng, was a regular vendor at the Elkins Flea Market and was a Protestant
by faith.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington today from 5 p.m.
to 8 p.m. and Tuesday until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, when services will be
conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Arden Beck officiating.
Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery near Belington, where American Legion

Hubert Eugene Thorne, 76, a resident of Tallmansville Road, Buckhannon, died
Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Oct. 10, 1928, at Louise, a son of the late Hubert and Goldie Floyd
Thorne.
Surviving are his wife, Teresa Grega Thorne of Buckhannon; three children,
Patricia Howell and husband, Terry, of Salem, Terry Summers and husband, Robert,
of Midlothian, Va. and James Michael Thorne and wife, Cheryl, of Covington, La.;
seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna McClain of
Clarksburg.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
He was a member of the Church of God of Buckhannon. He was a retired mine
foreman for Pittston Coal Co., an avid motorcyclist and a member of the
Christian Motorcycle Association.

Wilbur L. “Wib” Thorne Sr., 80, a resident of Williamson Avenue in
Belington, departed this life 6 p.m. Thursday, Oc. 27, 2005, at his residence.
He had been in declining health for the past several months.
He was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Belington, a son of the late Porter Lovett and
Audra Blanche Ervin Thorne.
On Oct. 8, 1940, he was united in marriage to the former Geneva Westfall, who
preceded him in death on June 8, 2001.
Mr. Thorne is survived by four sons, Wilbur Thorne Jr. and wife, Sandy; Roy
“Buck” Thorne and wife, Donna; Joe Thorne and wife, Cheri; Willard
“Willie” Thorne and wife, Anita, all of Belington; three daughters Audra
Masters and husband, Bruce, of Clarksburg; Rita Hedrick and husband, Jody, of
Elkins; and Barbara Harp and husband, John, of Illinois. Also surviving are four
brothers, Doyle Thorne, Lowell Thomas “Tommy” Thorne, Franklin Delano Thorne
and Porter Arlen “Bud” Thorne, all of Belington; two sisters, Arlene Marie
Kerby of Parkersburg and Freda Eureka Upton of Belington, 41 grandchildren and
22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded death by five brothers,
Melvin O’Dell Thorne, Hartsell Lovett Thorne, Clarence Denton Thorne, Willard
Granville “Bill” Thorne, and Paul Junior Thorne, and one sister, Areta Mae
McDonald, and two grandchildren, Clarence Thorn and Roy Thorne Jr.
Mr. Thorne attended the schools of Barbour County, was a coal miner for many
years having retired from the King Knob Coal Co., was a member of the United
Mine Workers Local 30, and was a member of the Calvary Mission Church in
Belington.

until 9 p.m. today, Oct. 29, and Sunday until noon at which time Mr. Thorne will
be moved to the Calvary Mission Church where friends may call from 1 p.m. until

Arley W. Thrasher
Arley W. Thrasher, 71, a resident of Mansfield Addition in Philippi, passed away
at 7:45 a.m., in Cleveland Clinic, from complications following heart surgery.
He was born at Philippi on Oct. 24, 1933, a son of the late Otto and Edna Foster
Thrasher.
He was united in marriage April 16, 1955, to the former Betty Gouer Thrasher,
who survives.
In addition, he is survived by three sons, Ronald Thrasher and wife, Dianne, of
West Grove, Pa., Terry Thrasher and Tommy Thrasher and fiance, Mendy Kittle, all
of Philippi; one sister, Eleanor Sell and husband, Dan, of Philippi; one
brother, Wm. Donnie Thrasher and wife, Ann, of New Martinsburg; one
sister-in-law, Hope Thrasher of Palmetto, Fla.; and three grandchildren, LeAnn,
Brad and Morgan Thrasher.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Simon; and two brothers, Raymond
and Denver Thrasher.
Arley was a supervisor of the ReBuild Shop with 30 years of service at Island
Creek Coal Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a life member of IOOF Lodge 59
and the Encampment Lodges, served as manager of the Barbour County Airport, has
been a private pilot since 1975 and was a United Methodist by faith.

Bernard G. Tinney
Bernard G. Tinney, 85, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005.
He was born Aug. 27, 1920, at Canfield, Braxton County, the son of the late
Oscar and Clara Halstead Tinney of Leadsville. Bernard was a graduate of Tygarts
Valley High School in the class of 1938. He lived in the Akron area since 1942.
Bernard served in World War II, where he was a sergeant in the 786th Military
Police Battalion, receiving the European Theatre of Operations Ribbon. He
retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in 1979 after 37 years of service and
attended Springfield Baptist Church. He was a member of American Legion Post
209, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3383 and Masonic Adoniram Joppa Lodge 517 AF
& AM.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sylvia Mae Stanley of Akron,
Ohio, whom he married Nov. 30, 1946, in Akron; his brother, Blaine, who was lost
at sea in the North Atlantic during World War II; and sisters, Sylvia Clark and
Nancy Ruth Tinney.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gale and Marvin Hill of Akron; two
grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tami) Hill of Akron, Ohio, and Julie (Paul) Winters of
Butler, Pa.; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Glenn of Stockton, Calif.,
George (Vera) of Jane Lew and Oscar Jr. (Wilma) of Bakersville, N.C.; sister,
Mary Weiford, of Elkins; and aunt, Mabel Stringer of Wadsworth, Ohio.

Donna G. Tolley
Donna Genelle Tolley of Franklin, formerly of Covington, Va., passed away Oct.
26, 2005, at her residence at the age of 72. Donna was born in Seminole, Okla.,
and was the daughter of the late Randolph and Charlotte Wilhelmenia Palstring
Shoemaker. She was married to Dr. Charles H. Tolley who preceded her in death
Nov. 13, 2002.
Donna was a member and organist at the Church of the Good Shepard in Blue Grass,
Va. She graduated from Murray State University with a master’s degree in music
and English. Donna enjoyed quilting, reading, cooking, gardening, knitting,
serving as an organist at church and had a profound love for her grandchildren.
Ms. Tolley was a professor at Murray State University in Murray, Ky., Vincennes
University in Vincennes, Ind., Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, Dabney S.
Lancaster Community College in Clifton Forge, Va., Cape Fear Tech in Wilmington,
N.C., and Salem Teikyo University in Salem.
Ms. Tolley is survived by two daughters, Leslie Wynn and husband, Randy Bowers,
of Franklin, and Karen N. and husband, John Gillispie, of Covington, Va., three
sons, twin, William “Bill” and wife, Lori Tolley, and twin, Raymond Howard
and wife, Susan Tolley, both of Covington, Va., and Karl Bryan Tolley of
Baghdad, Iraq; eight grandchildren, Zachary Bowers, Lindsay Bowers, Jacob Tolley,
Joseph Tolley, Josh Tolley, Sara Tolley, Jared Gillispie and Bryan Gillispie.
Donna was preceded in death by two sons, an infant and Joseph Tolley; one
granddaughter, Afton Carlyle Gillispie; four brothers and one sister.
As per Ms. Tolley’s wishes and love of education, her body has been donated to
the West Virginia School of Medicine. A memorial service will be at a later

Gladys V. Tomey, 81, a resident of 71 Wood St. in Buckhannon, died at 5:45 p.m.
Saturday, May 14, 2005, at her home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late John
Foster and Caroline Werner Foster.
Surviving are five daughters, Mary and Robert Eubank of Buckhannon, Arlena and
Ken Turner of Lakeland, Fla., Dana and Richard Marcum of East Sparta, Ohio,
Eileen and Robert McCaman, of Akron, Ohio, and Barbara and David Miller of
Gassaway; six sons, James and Bertha Tomey, Fred and Judy Tomey, Robert and Lea
Ann Tomey, Paul and Darlene Tomey, Roger and Scottie Tomey and Arnold and Diana
Tomey, all of Buckhannon; one sister, Lily Bennett of Philippi; 36
grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her dog,
Tiny.
Also preceding her in death were one grandson, Kevin Wilfong; three brothers,
Johnny Foster, Samuel Foster and Roy Foster; and one sister, Agnes Foster.
She was a seamstress at Modern Manufacturing, attended Faith Tabernacle and was
a member of Ladies Aid of Faith Tabernacle.

Barthel “Bart” Clyde Townsend, 79, a resident of Romney, died Wednesday,
Jan. 26, 2005, in Hampshire Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1925, at Frost, a son of the late Clyde Townsend and
Nellie Kelley Townsend.
He was married to Hazel Fitzgerald, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters; Carolyn Hefner of Charleston and Linda Wilson
and husband, Norman, of Romney; one stepson, Michael Fitzgerald of Buckhannon;
one sister, Lorretta Malcomb of Marlinton; one granddaughter, Julie Hefner of
Charleston; one grandson, Brian Hefner and wife, Pam, of Atlanta, Ga.; one
great-granddaughter, Sofie Hefner of Atlanta, Ga.; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Hildreth
Meadows.
He was a conservation officer in Hardy and Hampshire counties for 36 1/2 years,
retiring as a Lieutenant in 1986 in Romney. He served in the Navy during World
War II, where he spent 1 1/2 years in the South Pacific aboard the Sub-Chaser
1078.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at McKee Funeral
Home in Augusta. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from the

Hazel T. Townsend, 94, who resided at Village of St. Edwards, Akron, Ohio, died
Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at Akron General Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
She was born Dec. 30, 1910, at Tallmansville, a daughter of the late Phillip
Sheriden Tenney and Sara Jane Rowan Tenney.
He was married to Trevie Townsend, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are nephews, Melvin Townsend of Canal Fulton, Ohio, and Darius Craven
of Buckhannon; and several more nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 10 sisters
and two brothers.
She attended West Virginia Wesleyan and Glenville College and taught in Upshur
County in 1930.

Ruth F. Tracey
Ruth Frances Tracey, 70, a resident of 188 Peters Lick Road, Horner, passed away
Tuesday evening, Aug. 30, 2005, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Weston.
She was born Sept. 7, 1934, at Buckeye, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Ella
Galford Sharp.
On Jan. 3, 1950, she was married to Forrest Lee Tracey, who preceded her in
death.
Surviving are three sons, David E. Tracey of Oakland, Md., Lloyd Tracey of
Wilsonburg and Terry Tracey of Aurora; three brothers, Earl Sharp of Mingo,
Charles Sharp of Valley Head and James Sharp of Rowlesburg; three sisters, Erma
Adkins of Horner, Glenna Adkins of Weston and Shirley Johnston of Farmington; a
half sister, Lucille Sharp of Mingo; six grandchildren and 13
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Tracey was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in
Elkins. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel

Mary Petrice Travise, 93, a resident of Coalton, departed this life Sunday
afternoon, Nov. 6, 2005, at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She had been in
her usual health and death was unexpected.

Mary P. Travise
Mary Petrice Travise, 93, a resident of Coalton, departed this life suddenly
Sunday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2005, at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon. She had
been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Thursday, Sept. 12, 1912, at Mabie, a daughter of the late Nazerine
Petrice and Florence Kimble Petrice.
She was married to Patsy Travise, who preceded her in death May 9, 1994.
She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Travise Rowe and
husband, Bill, of Dayton, Ohio; two sons, Junior Travise and wife, Mary Kathryn,
of Ravenna, Ohio, and John Travise and wife, Madeline, of Coalton; three
brothers, Bill Petrice and wife, Lucy, of Coalton, James Petrice and wife, Betty
Lou, of Elkins and Frank Petrice and wife, Jean, of Coalton; two sisters, Rose
McMasters of Baltimore, Md., and Celia Primavero of Coalton; 12 grandchildren,
22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents were three brothers, Roy,
Joseph and John Travise; two sisters, Rhoda Stanton and Effie Barkley; and one
grandson, Anthony Travise.
She attended the schools of Mabie, was a homemaker, was a member of Saint
Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton and Ladies Guild of the church. She
enjoyed and was well-known for her cooking, enjoyed good health, shopping and
eating out several times a week especially with her “shopping buddy” and
sister-in-law, Rosalee Petrice.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins today
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home, a prayer service
will be recited by Sister Teresa Reddington. On Wednesday, Nov. 9, Mrs. Travise
will be moved to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton where the Liturgy
of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. The Rev. Fr. William Anderson
will be the presider and interment will follow at Saint Vincent Cemetery at

Bessie R. Tuesing
Mrs. Bessie R. Tuesing, 89, a lifelong resident of Hambleton, died of cancer at
her home May 9, 2005.
Mrs. Tuesing was a life long resident of Tucker County. She was born May 20,
1915, a daughter of the late Elic C. and Laura Phillips Summerfield.
On March 3, 1944, she married Fred A. Tuesing, who preceded her in death Oct.
28, 1985.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Karen (Howard) Pyles of Ellicott City,
Md.; three sons, Fred H. (Penny) Tuesing, Ray A. Tuesing and W. Thomas Tuesing,
all of Hambleton; three daughters-in-law, Ruth Stieringer of Elkins, Jean Linger
of Rock Cave and Roxanne Tuesing of Hendricks; eight grandchildren, Tammy (Bob)
Naylor of Columbia, Md., Linda (Les) Patrick of West Friendship, Md., Racheal
(Jeff) Traw of Virginia Beach, Va., Ms. Melissa (Tony) Derhovanesian of Canaan
Valley, JaCinda Tuesing of Harrisonburg, Pa., Bonnie Bryan of Buckhannon,
Rachelle Tuesing of Addison, Texas and Roy A. Tuesing of Hambleton; 15
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nellie Lewis and Rita Bennett, both of
Hambleton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Roy A.
Tuesing; two brothers, Alfred Summerfield and Harry Summerfield; and two
sisters, Edna Jordan and Margaret Summerfield.
At the request of the deceased, her remains were cremated. A memorial service
will be held for family and friends at the Hambleton United Methodist Church
Saturday at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary. At the request of the family,
donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Heart Association, P.O.
Box 12110, Charleston, W.Va. 25302 or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box

Julia E. Tumblin
Julia Elizabeth Tumblin, 43, a resident of Mingo, passed away at 7 p.m. Friday,
March 18, 2005, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital at Parkersburg following an
extended illness.
She was born Oct. 21, 1961, at Elkins, a daughter of Lonnie P. Gibson and the
Rev. Norma C. Gibson of Mill Creek. She was the granddaughter of the late
Raymond and Hazel Collins, Bernice Gibson, who survives, and the late Ashby
Gibson.
On Oct. 6, 2000, she was married to Jeffrey Tumblin, who survives at Mingo.
Also surviving are one son, Jeremiah White of Elkins; one stepson, Aaron Tumblin
of Dunmore; and one stepdaughter, Samantha Tumblin of Mingo; two brothers,
Lonnie Gibson Jr. and wife, Donna, of Huttonsville and Michael Gibson of Dailey;
three sisters, Catherine Gordon and husband, Marcus, of Texas, Phyllis Doyle and
husband, Jeff, of Valley Head and Peggy Bertelli and husband, Michael, of
Lawton, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Julia was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and a veteran of the U.S.
Army. She was a homemaker.

Joe G. Turner Sr.
Joe Garland Turner Sr., 63, a resident of Hambleton, departed this life
Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining
health.
He was born Monday, Aug. 10, 1942, at Hendricks, a son of the late Delbert Lloyd
Turner and Ottie Mary Stevens Strahin Turner.
He was married to the former Mary Christine Ford, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two sons, Joe Garland Turner Jr. and wife, Deborah, of
Westminster, Md., and Billy Dell Turner Sr. and wife, Linda, of Cockeysville,
Md.; one half brother, Dave Strahin and wife, Wilda, of Porterwood; one sister;
Angie V. McDaniel and husband, Charles, of Hambleton; four grandchildren, Mary
E. Turner, Billy D. Turner Jr., Heather Boyer and Joe G. Turner III; and several
nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were four brothers, Kenneth and Maynard Strahin and
Delbert “Teak” Turner and Robert Turner; and one sister, Ruth Schroeder.
He was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1960. He was a former
employee of the Maryland Cup Co., with 42 years of service.
