Dorothy D. Lamb
Dorothy Dale Lame, 84, a resident of Route 3, Buckhannon, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at her home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1921, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Stillman Lane and Clara Yeager Lane Young.
She was united in marriage Dec. 4, 1948, to Hunter Robert Lamb, who preceded her in death Feb. 7, 2002.
She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte Cooke of Raleigh, N.C.; one son, Stephen Robert Lamb of San Diego, Calif; one grandson, Zac Cooke of Raleigh, N.C.; two granddaughters, Tonya Bisby of Wake Forest, N.C., and Tracey Lynam of Raleigh, N.C.; one great-grandson, Brandon Bisby of Wake Forest, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Lane Bisby of Wake Forest, N.C.; one half brother, Bill Young of Ravanna, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Lamb was preceded in death by two sisters, Marjorie Blankenship and Katherine Bartlett; and two brothers, Clifford and infant Carl Howard.
Mrs. Lamb attended the Christian Fellowship Church in Buckhannon.
Friends will be received from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with Pastor J. Shirley M. Lamb
Shirley Marie Vance Lamb, 74, a resident of the Leading Creek Road, Gilman, passed away Monday evening in Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs.

Shirley M. Lamb
Shirley Marie Vance Lamb, 74, a resident of the Leading Creek Road, Gilman, passed away Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, of an extended illness in Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs where she had been a patient since April 26, 2004.
She was born Oct. 7, 1930, at Whitmer, the daughter of the late Alpha Mae Mullenax and Fred Gerald Vance.
On July 17, 1948, she was united in marriage to Clarence Lamb, who preceded her in death Nov. 22, 2000.
She was a 1967 graduate of the Davis Memorial School of Practical Nursing. She had worked at the Memorial General Hospital and later at Nella’s Inc. until Nov. 3, 1997, where she was LPN of the year in 1996 and retired to take care of her late husband. Before becoming a patient at Nella’s, she loved her dogs, Hooch & Jazz. She enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family, especially Sunday dinners. Surviving are three daughters, Louella Ketterman and companion, Frank Kyle, of Kerens, Patty Mallow and husband, Herman, of Highland Park and Shirley Wilfong and husband, Duane “Muttley,” of Leading Creek Road; one son, Michael Lamb and companion, Pat Brandini, of Leading Creek Road; three brothers, Richard, William and David Vance of Newark, Ohio; six grandchildren, Sherry Weese and husband, Clifford and Janet Shank and husband, Kenny, all of Highland Park, Dennis Mallow and wife, Debbie, of Teaberry Hills, Roberta “Bobbie” Friedline and husband, Dave, of Elkins, Robin Riffle and husband, Adrian, of Beverly, Stephanie Bender and husband, Tim, of Mill Creek and Carolyn Lamb of Elkins; five great-grandchildren, April and Amanda Weese, Ashley and Autumn Shank, all of Highland Park and David “DJ” Friedline of Elkins; a special friend, Pat McCarty of Highland Park; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. A. H. Eva L. Lambert
Eva Lee Simmons Lambert, 97, of Riverton, died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at her home after a three-year battle with cancer.
She was born at Smith Creek Feb. 11, 1909. She was the daughter of the late Zebulon and Lora Nancy Hartman Simmons.
Her husband, Estyl Lambert, preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1983.
Mrs. Lambert and her husband operated Seneca Caverns in Riverton for more than 30 years. She had been a member of Riverton United Methodist Church since 1918.
Surviving are a son, Richard M. Lambert and wife, Joan, of Riverton; a nephew whom she raised, Dwight Judy and wife, Ruthalene, of Riverton; five grandchildren, Rick Lambert and wife, Pam, of Monterey, Va., Joanne Turner and husband, Billy, of Shenandoah, Va., Sheila Lambert of Harrisonburg, Va., Vickee Cermak and husband, Dan, of Champaign, Ill., and Jimmy Lambert and wife, Terri, of Stafford, Va.; nine great-grandchildren, Chris Lambert of Monterey, Va., Josh Lambert of San Diego, Calif., Ben Lambert and wife, Chandra, of Hutchinson, Kan., Jennifer Baugher and husband, Mike, Jessica Monger and husband, Timmy, all of Shenandoah, Va., Andrew Cermak of San Jose, Calif., Danielle Cermak of Las Vegas, Nev., Lauren and Heather Lambert of Stafford, Va.; and a great-great-granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Monger of Shenandoah, Va.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Olin, James, Lester and Martin; and five sisters, Ervil, Edna, Lena, Julia and Maud.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Riverton United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Barbara Rexroad officiating. Interment will follow at North Fork Memorial Cemetery in Riverton. Memorials may be made to Riverton United Methodist Church. Ida B. Lambert
Ida Belle Showalter Lambert, 86, a resident of Parsons, and more recently a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Wednesday morning, May 4, 2005, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health for the past 16 months after suffering a massive stroke.
She was born Monday, March 23, 1919, at Gladwin, a daughter of the late John M. Showalter and Susan O. Long Showalter.
On Oct. 2, 1942, she was married to Otto W. Lambert, who preceded her in death March 4, 1998. They had celebrated 57 years of marriage.
She is survived by one sister-in-law, Lettie B. Showalter, and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by three brothers, Edmond, William and Charlie Showalter; and two sisters, Mary Brown and Carrie Moyers.
She attended the schools of Tucker County. She was formerly employed as quality control and supervisor for the Scott Paper Co. in Philadelphia, Pa. Following her retirement in 1979, she moved to Parsons. She was a member of the First Baptist Church at Parsons.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Allen D. Crosten will officiate and entombment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Gilman. Lester A. Lambert, 74, a resident of Huttonsville, passed away at 11:41 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2005, in the emergency department of Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born July 26, 1930, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Roy Lambert and Verna Louk Taylor.
On Dec. 24, 1949, at Monterey, Va., he was married to the former JoAnne Pugh, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Randall Lambert of Tucson, Ariz., Ronald Lambert and wife, Anita, of Mill Creek and Robert Lambert and wife, Debra, of Huttonsville; three daughters, Mrs. Willard “Diane” Ball of Mill Creek, Deborah Lambert of Elkins and Donna Dean of Harrisonburg, Va. Also surviving are three brothers, Eugene, Nick and Dayton Taylor, all of Mill Creek; four sisters, Nancy Smith of Frenchville, Pa., Peggy Gibson of Dundalk, Md., Rebecca Shobe of Enid, Okla. and Bonnie Arbogast of Volga; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Richard Lambert; three sisters, Geraldine Taylor, Evelyn Bucher and Barbara Scott; and two grandsons, Michael and Shawn Lambert.
Mr. Lambert was a retired coal mine supervisor. He was a member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Tuesday morning, Mr. Lambert will be moved to the Mill Creek United Methodist Church where friends may call from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Bonnie Starkey and the Rev. Inurnment for Mrs. Mary S. “Gertie” Lambert, 91, of Franklin, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Smith Creek Church of the Brethren at Franklin with Pastor Dan Ludwick and Pastor Shyrl Smith officiating. Thelma G. Lambert
Thelma Grace Lambert, 89, a resident of HC 88, Box 1, Seneca Rocks, died Feb. 20, 2005, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
She was born Aug. 22, 1915, at Macksville, a daughter of the late Glenn Hedrick and Myrtle Raines.
She was married to Merle Lambert, who preceded her in death in 1939.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald Lambert of Burnswick, Md. and Donald Lambert of Falls Church, Va.; two sisters, Gae Mullenax of Cherry Grove and Mildred Nelson of Laurel, Md.; two brothers, Sheldon Hedrick of Baltimore, Md. and Blake Hedrick of Seneca Rocks; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Darrell and Virgil.
She was a graduate of Franklin High School, was retired as a beautician after 40 years and attended High Rock United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at High Rock United Methodist Church with the Rev. Barbara Rexroad and the Rev. Roy Hedrick officiating. Interment will follow in Hedrick Family Cemetery at Seneca Rocks. Virginia M. Lambert
Virginia Madeline Hedrick Lambert, 80, a resident of Bell Crouch Road, Huttonsville, passed away Friday, July 22, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past nine days. She had been in failing health for the past year.
Born Oct. 15, 1924, in Thornwood, she was the daughter of the late Jesse R. and Mary Edna Hedrick.
On July 10, 1953, she was united in marriage to James Lambert, who preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1989.
Also preceding her in death was an infant, Rosie Hedrick; two sons, Jimmy Lambert and Evert Neil; and five brothers, Ben Rexrode, John Rexrode, Hobe Rexrode, Shelee Rexrode and Jesse Lee Hedrick.
Virginia is survived by three daughters, Kandi Herron and husband, Buck, Judy Taylor and Brenda Louk and husband, Raymond, all of Huttonsville; three sons, Jason Taylor and wife, Tanya, of Mill Creek, Larry Lambert and Jerry Lambert, both of Beverly; a sister, Louise Neil of Stanton, Va; one brother, Rich Hedrick of Thornwood; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Virginia was a homemaker and enjoyed watching soap operas, gardening and spending time with her family. She also loved feeding and watching birds. She attended Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church and will be sadly missed by family and a host of friends.
Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Tuesday at F.E. Runner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the Runner Chapel. The Rev. Frank Long, pastor of Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville. F.E. Mark P. Lance
Mark P. Lance, 47, of Syracuse, N.Y., died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005. He was a native and life resident of Syracuse, N.Y.
He is survived by his father, Paul Lance of Syracuse, N.Y.; one sister, Linda Lance of Syracuse, N.Y.; one brother, Bill Vance of Raymond, N.H.; one aunt, Dorothy Lantz of Buckhannon; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Jean Lance, in 2002.
He was a Communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, a class of 1975 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, and a graduate of Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in 1979 and a master’s of urban education. He was a teacher with the city of Syracuse School District at Salem Hyde School for 25 years and a member of the New York State Teachers Association. He was active in local theatrical groups including the former Pompeian Players and the Clay Towne Youth Theater group. He was an avid gardener and loved to decorate his home for every occasion.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Keegan-Osbelt-Knight Funeral Home in Syracuse, N.Y. Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home and 11:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum in Syracuse, N.Y. Barbara Haines Landis, 57, of HC 80, Box 83, Maysville, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at her residence.
The family will receive friends at Schaeffer Funeral Home today and Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Springfield Assembly of God Church in Springfield with the Rev. L. Earl Travis, the Rev. Norman B. Landis, the Rev. William A. Fout and Dr. Thomas F. Gulbronson officiating. Melvin C. Lane
Melvin C. Lane, 95, of Hacker Valley, went to rest Tuesday, June 14, 2005.
He was born Nov. 18, 1909, in Upshur County, a son of the late Osborn Gay and Flora Sharp Lane.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Alice Lewis Lane.
He is survived by two daughters, Patricia and Clifford Gum of Hacker Valley and Jean and Delmas “Shorty” Ware of Tennerton; four grandchildren, Jackie Chipps and Tammy Brown, both of Hacker Valley, Clifford W. Gum of Woodstock, Ga., and T.J. Ware of Reedsville; one granddaughter-in-law, Caroline Andrews; nine great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Bonnie Strader of Morgantown, Vera Hull of Brookville, Ohio, and Neva Faulkner of of Winston-Salem, N.C.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Jesse Andrews; one grandson, David Andrews; four brothers, Orville, Mike, Denzil and Douglas Lane; and three sisters, Juanita Lane, Gladys Gillispie and Leola South.
Mr. Lane was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways.
He was a member of the Rock Cave United Methodist Church.

Nell K. Lang
Nell K. Lang, a resident of 116 Harpertown Road, Elkins, departed this life Friday morning, Oct. 28, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department. Death was unexpected.
She was born at Williams River, a daughter of the late Lesle Earnest Kennison and Louise Cheeks Kennison.
She was twice married. First, on July 10, 1948, she was married to Robert H. Crickard, who preceded her in death Nov. 19, 1953. Second, on June 18, 1955, she was married to Bretsel M. Lang who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Jeanette Legg and husband, Sam, of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Earl Kennison of Lake Geneva, Ohio, and Bill Kennison of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Blanche Raab of Baltimore, Md., and Ruth Yancey of Bloomfield, Mo.; six grandchildren, Melissa, Chad, Michael and Brant Busdeker, Tim Legg and Samantha Tostenson; special granddaughter, Clarissa Legg, who will miss her “Dabba” very much; her companion and special friend, Russell Herron and his faithful dog, General, of Belington; and a devoted friend, Kathy Judy of Elkins.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husbands were one son, Harold R. Crickard; and one brother, Bruce Kennison
She was a graduate of Beverly High School with the class of 1949 and had worked as the clerk for the Water Department of the City of Elkins from 1977 to 1993. She was a Protestant by faith.
Ms. Lang’s request for cremation was honored. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Dain Lanham, 59, a resident of Mill Creek, passed away at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at his residence.
He was born July 29, 1945, at Hemlock, a son of the late Van Buren Lanham and Icie Elanor Currence Lanham, who survives.
On Jan. 12, 1967, in Mill Creek, he was married to Naomi Swecker Lanham, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, David Eugene Lanham of Mill Creek; two daughters, Peggy Lynn Lower and husband, Leon, of Huttonsville and Rhonda Sue Tenney and husband, Dale Jr., of Mill Creek; three brothers, “Doc” Lanham and wife, Ronetta, of Ravenna, Ohio, Donald Lanham and wife, Cindy, of Valley Bend and Eugene Lanham and wife, Shirley, of Mill Creek; four sisters, Thelma Haney and husband, Richard, of Valley Head, Virginia Snyder, Mary Lanham and Sue Sutton and husband, Dixie, all of Mill Creek; four grandchildren, Megan, Charity and Lexxie Lower and Carly Tenney; a close cousin, Delmar Lanham of Huttonsville; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were one brother, Wade Lanham; and two sisters, Bonnie Lanham and Wanda Jean Lanham.
Mr. Lanham was employed at Myles Lumber Co. until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church. The family would like to thank Hospice Care for their kindness during Mr. Lanham’s illness.

Charles Lansberry
Charles W. “Buffy” Lansberry, 63, of Leadmine, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Garrett County Hospital in Oakland, Md.
He was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Leadmine, a son of the late Wade Henry and Mary Elizabeth Burch Lansberry.
He is survived by one brother, Paul B. Lansberry of Parsons; and three sisters, Leona E. Evans and Ilene M. Tompkins, both of St. George and Manie L. Garner of Virginia Beach, Va.
He was preceded in death by one brother, John A. Lansberry; and one sister, Margaret Louise Lansberry.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dick Gadd officiating. Paul B. Lansberry
Paul B. Lansberry, 65, a resident of the Blackman Heights community, Hambleton, departed this life Saturday afternoon, July 16, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Sunday, Dec. 17, 1939, at Leadmine, a son of the late Wade H. and Mary E. Ashby Lansberry.
On Oct. 24, 1980, at Bull Run, he was married to Cheryl Carr Lansberry, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Anita Grant of Canton, Ohio, Tina Heckler and husband, Lannie, of Hambleton, Donna Michael of Aurora and Jenny Akins-Moffatt and husband, Bob, of Mt. Morris, Pa.; three sisters, Leona Evans and husband, Charles, and Ilene Tompkins and husband, Herman, all of Leadmine, and Midge Garner of Virginia Beach, Va.; 10 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles W. “Buster” Lansberry and John A. Lansberry.
He attended the schools of Michigan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a former truck driver for D&W Truck Lines of Parsons for 32 years. He was an employee of the Tucker County Board of Education as a school bus driver. He, along with his wife, owned and operated the former P&C Grocery at Hambleton. At the time of his death, he and his wife owned and operated the P&C Furniture Store at Parsons. He was a guitar player with the gospel group, Sara and Friends, for many years. He was a member of the Riverview Chapel Church at Porterwood.

Ernest E. Lantz
Ernest Earl “Bud” Lantz, 83, of HC 71, Ellamore, went to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born May 29, 1921, at Lantz, a son of the late Elam and Fannie Elbon Lantz.
He was united in marriage Jan. 20, 1982, to Janice Evans Lantz, who survives.
He is also survived by daughters, Jean “Shon” and husband, Robert Jones, of Gallipolis Ferry, Fran and husband, Lee McCalla, of Lecanto, Fla., and Patricia and husband, Ray Eckes, of Roanoke; sons, Burton and wife, Jan Booth, and Bruce and wife, Michelle Booth, all of Ellamore; grandchildren, Rod and wife, Jody Bloomer, of Citrus Springs, Fla., Joy and husband, John Jenkins, of Charleston, Jill Jones, Peace Corps volunteer, of Moldova, Danny and Phillip Higham of Roanoke, Mary and husband, David Rhorbough, of Alum Bridge, Raetta and husband, Joe Atkinson, of Ireland, Kenny and wife, Alice Booth, of Huntington, Kimberly Booth, Brittannie Ramsey and Katelyn Booth, all of Ellamore, and Derrick Woods of Elkins; and great-grandchildren, Justin Bloomer, Terrlen Rhorbough and Jamie Adkinson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Teter and Wanda Lantz.
Bud was a founding member of the Ellamore Volunteer Fire Department. He was retired from the Division of Natural Resources, having worked in parks and recreation with 23 years of service. As a member of the 8th Air Force, 385th Bomber Group, Mr. Lantz served with honor and distinction, successfully piloting his B17 on 35 missions over France and Germany during World War II. His family and closest friends will always regard him as one of the many heroes who have preserved our freedom with their selfless service to our country. Mr. Lantz was a member of Gertrude Chapel United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Goldie Mae Jackson Lantz, 81, a former resident of Huttonsville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs.
She was born Sept. 13, 1924, at Slaty Fork, a daughter of the late Lawrence Jennings Brian Jackson and Pearl Hannah Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her long time companion, Guy Tacy.
On June 23, 2000, she was married to Ivan Joseph Lantz, who passed away on July 10, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, John Roger Jackson of Huttonsville and Elmer Guy Tacy of Mill Creek; one brother, Quelin Jackson of Mill Creek; four sisters, Shirley Sharp of Elkins, Silvia Hammond of Romney, Nellie Hutton of Ohio and Naomi Jackson of Mill Creek; and several nieces and nephews. One special niece, Betty Vanpelt of Mill Creek; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren also survive.
Preceding her in death were one son, Charles Franklin Jackson; one daughter, Linda Kay Friel; one sister, Montella Adams; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Lantz was a homemaker and enjoyed singing. She attended the Light of the Valley Church of Mill Creek.

Mike Lantz
Mike Lantz, 78, of Lakeland, Fla., died of heart failure, Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Lantz on March 5, 1927.
He came to Lakeland, Fla., from Medina, Ohio, in 1976. He was a meat cutter for Publix and a member of Griffin Baptist Church.
Mr. Lantz is survived by his wife, Mae Lantz; one son Mike Lantz and wife, Kathy; two grandchildren, Joshua Lantz and Amie Phillips, both of Lakeland, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Dayna Lantz and Madison Phillips; four sisters, Anna Dell Ratliff and husband, Jim, of Buckhannon, Clara Poling and husband, Weldon, of Lakeland, Fla., Betty Sturm and husband, Charles, of Philippi and Linda Ricottilli of Marlinton; and two special helpers, Lindsay and Jeff.
Two sisters and five brothers preceded him in death.

Kenneth “Paul” Leary, 76, a former resident of Apple Creek, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005, at his residence. Death was sudden and unexpected.
Born April 15, 1929, he was the son of the late Chap Leary and Cora Lee Kinder.
Paul is survived by four daughters, Linda Earl and husband, Lyle, of Metz, Paula Roth and husband, Rodney, of Stonewood, Sharon Smith and husband, Jerry, of Metz, and Peggy Moore of Mannington; one sister, Susie Sante and husband, John, of Dover, Ohio; six grandchildren, Angela Hickman, Jeremiah Sokolosky, Tommy Joe and Shannon Smith and Cheyenne and Evan Moore; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Paul is also survived by a very special friend, Amy Mueller, who was like a daughter to him and his beloved pet dog, Panda.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick and Billy Leary; and one grandchild, Zachery Stuttler.
Paul retired from the Air Force with more than 20 years of service. He also worked for Peabody Coal as a coal miner.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated.
The family will receive friends at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness in Elkins today from noon to 2 p.m., at which time a memorial service will be conducted by John Mueller of Kingdom Hall. Judy A. Ledbetter
Judy A. Ledbetter, 61, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Riverside Methodist Hospital, after a sudden illness.
A longtime resident of Upper Arlington, Ohio, she was a nationally recognized interior designer and owner of Judith Ledbetter Interiors.
She was currently serving as president of Columbus South/Kentucky Chapter 32, American Society of Interior Designers. She was a graduate of West Virginia University in Morgantown and completed graduate studies in home furnishings from Ohio State University.
She is survived by her parents, Charles and Mary S. Tamulitis of Philippi; husband, John R. Ledbetter; sons, Brian W. of Boston, Mass., and Michael A. of Columbus, Ohio; brothers, Charles O. (Theresa) Tamulitis of Houston, Texas, and Martin L. (Joan) Tamulitis of Belington; and nephew, Ernest S. Tamulitis of Santa Fe, Texas.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at a later date. Jean Gibson Lee, 77, a resident of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Gregory, Braxton County, a daughter of the late Elijah Frenchman and Matilda Adeline Lake Gibson.
She was married to the late Theodore “Ted” Lee.
Surviving are one son, James Lee and wife, Angel; three sisters, Zoe Ann Byrd, Sylvia Lee and Zola Grey Fisher; and one brother, Bruce Holt Gibson.
Preceding her in death were five sisters, Nina Lee Fisher, Artie May Wellborn, Carol Susan Riddle Canterbury, Leota Florence Gibson and Ressie Carter; and one brother Elijah Junior Gibson.
She was a homemaker.

Maxine D. Lee
Maxine D. Lee, 60, a resident of Rock Cave, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born May 5, 1945, at Excelsior, a daughter of the late Charles Goodwin and Martha Shreve Goodwin.
On July 2, 1988, she was married to Johnnie A. Lee, who survives at Rock Cave.
Also surviving are one daughter, Katrina Myers of Rock Cave; one son, Jack A. Myers and wife, Crissy, of Buckhannon; one stepdaughter, Pamela McNemar and husband, Robert, of Buckhannon; one stepson, Jon B. Lee of Rock Cave; two grandsons, Levi Myers and Kaleb McNemar, both of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Kristen Dye of Buckhannon; one brother, Sherman Goodwin and wife, Connie, of Stonewood; three sisters, Eileen Casto and husband, Robert, of Volga, Betty Waugh and husband, Darrel, of Clarksburg and Marjorie Chewning and husband, Arnold, of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Ima Jean Goodwin of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Carl Goodwin; and one granddaughter, Brook Lee.
She was a weaver for Alcon Labels and a member of American Legion Post 7 Ladies Auxiliary.

Zana M. Leigh
Zana Madeline Leigh, 76, ascended this world Monday, April 25, 2005.
She was born June 12, 1928, in Holly, a daughter of the late Emery Newton and Bessie Golden Wilmoth Butcher.
On June 11, 1948, she married Everett “Dick” Leigh, who survives.
Together they reared, loved and cherished six children, Rose Smith Lanham, Bob Leigh and wife, Brenda, Steve Leigh and wife, Paula, Nick Leigh and wife, Betsy, Jerry Leigh and wife, Karen, and Judith Leigh Stocckle and husband, Duane. They blessed the lives of their 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Zana wore many “hats” during her lifetime: daughter, sister, aunt, wife, waitress, homemaker, PTA president, homeroom mother, seamstress and care provider. Her most precious one, however, was loving mother and grandmother.
Zana was a faithful and devoted servant of Christ. She was a member and Sunday school teacher at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church and was baptized in the Tenmile River. She read her Bible and devotions each day. She never missed an opportunity to be a witness for Christ and found comfort in him throughout her life, especially in her final days.
Zana touched the lives of all who came in contact with her and will be greatly missed. Her family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to St. Joseph’s Hospice and the second floor staff of St. Joseph’s.
Friends will be received today from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Poling-St Clair Funeral Home. Private family services will be held Wednesday. Avon Junior Lewis, 80, a resident of Beverly, passed away March 10, 2005, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 23, 1924, near Beverly, a son of the late George E. Lewis Sr. and Virgie Bell Lewis.
On Feb. 9, 1946, at Beverly, he was married to the former Mabel Banton, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Roger Allen Lewis and wife, Mary of Beverly; four daughters, Dianna Lynn Bosley and special friend, Jim of Akron, Ohio, Carolyn June Lewis of Winfield, Deborah Kay Dalton and husband, Rick of Lexington, Ky., and Jennifer Moats and husband, Jim of Philippi. Also surviving are one brother, Jay Lewis of Files Creek; five sisters, Thelma Lewis, Velma McElwee and Dolly Weese, all of Beverly, Ruby Phillips of Moorefield and Letha Price of Elkins. Six grandchildren, Melissa Swain, Scott Bosley, Chris and Leslie Lewis, Ashley Moats, Shana Dalton and two great-grandchildren, Lindsey and Olivia Swain, also survive.
Preceding him in death were seven brothers, Pete, Willard, Mack, Buddy, Jack, Earnest and Sonny Lewis Sr.; and one sister, Helen Hinchman.
Mr. Lewis served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. and was an equipment operator until his retirement from Elkins Lumber Co.
After his retirement, he enjoyed his interests of golf, baseball, solving puzzles and wildlife. He was a self-taught licensed HAMM radio operator.

Effie M. Lewis, 80, of French Creek, died Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born July 21, 1924, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late John Butcher and Orphie Pearl Johnston.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Darius Bender, and also by her second husband, Edward Lewis.
She is survived by four sons, George Huffman of Elyria, Ohio, David Bender, Leon Bender and Randall Bender, all of Buckhannon; four daughters, Eden Hope Bender, Daisy Ware and Donna Baughman, all of Buckhannon and Faye Bender of French Creek; two stepsons, Harold Lewis and Michael Lewis, both of French Creek; one stepdaughter, Katie Champ of Buckhannon; 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, 10 stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Easter Wingate; one grandson and one great-granddaughter; one brother, Boyd Johnston; and one sister, Altena Thayer.

Lorena Hall Lewis, 93, a resident of Elkins, and more recently a resident of Valentine’s Personal Care Home at Elkins, departed this life Tuesday evening, Jan. 18, 2005, at the home. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, April 11, 1911 at Knoxville, Tenn., a daughter of the late William Hall and Laura Alice Bowers Hall.
Surviving are four nieces, Alice and Susan Brown, Elaine Wright and Dorothy Smith; one nephew, Richard W. Hall; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Hall; and one brother-in-law, Clarence Franklin, all of Buckhannon.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death besides her parents were one son, Robert Lee Lewis; three brothers, Daniel Hall, Richard “Dick” Hall and William J. Hall; and two sisters, Ellen Page and Josephine Franklin.
Lorena attended the schools of Buckhannon, had worked for 45 years for the Phil Williams family and for over 20 years for the Walter Scheel family. She was the nanny for the Martha Barrett and Norman Alday children. She was an active member of the Virginia Chapel AME Church.

Martha Crossland Lewis, 98, a resident of Parsons and for the past six years a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center at Elkins, departed this life Thursday evening, Jan. 13, 2004, at the center. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born Friday, July 27, 1906, at Canaan Valley, a daughter of the late George T. Crossland and Clara V. Burdette Crossland.
On Jan. 23, 1932, she was married to Nick Lewis, who preceded her in death June 20, 1960.
Surviving are one son, Richard L. Lewis and wife, Twila, of Parsons; one daughter, Mary V. Anderson of Alexandria, Va; eight grandchildren, Connie Hinte; Vicki Glasow and husband, John; Richard Lewis and wife, Michelle; David Anderson and wife, Debbie; Roger Anderson; James Anderson; John Anderson and wife, Sue, and Mary P. Swift; 17 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Jeremy and Sarah Hinte; Emma and Amy Glasow; Laurn and Bryan Albers; Selena Lewis; Adam, Stephanie, Stephen, Kristina, Heather, Hannah, Nicholas, Katie and Michael Anderson; and one great-great-grandchild, Nathan Anderson.
She attended the schools of Tucker County. She was an employee of the former Tucker County Hospital and the former Greenlief Funeral Home and was a homemaker.

Mickel J. Lloyd
Mickel James "Mikey" Lloyd, 52, a resident of the Jerusalem community, passed away at 3:50 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005, at Ruby Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the last three weeks. Death was attributed to a stroke.
Born June 19, 1952, in Elkins, he was the son of Elmer Lloyd, who survives at Jerusalem community, and the late Mary Ann McCauley Lloyd.
Mikey is survived by seven sisters, Julie Corbin of Alabama, Bonnie Woodford, Helen Taylor and Gladys Currence, all of Mill Creek, Mary Ann McDonald and Hazel Wyatt, both of Beckley, and Barbara Lambert of Beverly; and three brothers, David Lloyd and Billy Lloyd, both of Mill Creek, and Gerald Lloyd of the Jerusalem community. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, a host of friends and a special friend and caregiver, Rhonda Smith.
Preceding him in death, besides his mother, were infant twin brother and sister, Cathy and Delmar Lloyd, and infant sisters, Betty Ann and Ruth Ann Lloyd.
Mikey had been disabled since birth, however, he loved hunting with his father and brother and fishing with his brother. He was an avid wrestling fan and a Protestant by faith. Mikey will be missed by those who loved him and will remain in their hearts forever.
Friends will be received after 6 p.m. today at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Frank Long, pastor of the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church, will officiate and interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville. F.E. Freda Izola Loane, 84, a resident of 1412 Lavalette Ave., Elkins, and for the past two months a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 2:55 a.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital following a 4-week illness.
She was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Webster County, a daughter of the late Adam Tracy and the late Agatha Tucker Tracy.
She was married to Franklin Loane who preceded her in death in April 1948.

Freda retired from the Memorial General Hospital. She was a loving mother, always there when her children needed her. She loved flowers and will be sadly missed.

Katherine Louise Bradley “Kitty” Lohr, 85, a resident of 317 Graham St., Elkins, departed this life Friday, June 17, 2005, at her home. She had been in declining health for the past 18 months and had been under the care of Hospice Care Corp. since Dec. 24, 2004.
Katherine was born May 12, 1920, in Morgantown, to Frederick Arthur and Jessie Beryl Price Bradley.
She was raised in Columbus, Ohio, and in the small Short Line Railroad towns of Folsom, Reader, Hundred, Pine Grove, Smithfield, Littleton, and Paden City. She was valedictorian of Magnolia High School class of 1938. She received her degree in elementary education from Fairmont State College in 1942, graduating in the top 10 of her class and being named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. After teaching one year and working one year for the West Virginia Board of Control in Charleston, she married John Wilson Lohr Sept. 17, 1944, at Littleton Methodist Church and moved with him to Portsmouth, Va., where he was stationed in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge in November 1945, the Lohrs moved to Elkins. They purchased the Kendall Funeral Home and established the John W. Lohr Funeral Home July 1, 1947. Katherine worked tirelessly alongside her husband as secretary and receptionist until their retirement in 1982.
Katherine was active in many civic, church and community organizations including First United Methodist Church where she had taught Sunday school and had been a member of the Wesleyan Service Guild and Julia Bonafield Circle. She was active in 4-H as a teen and served as club leader and camp counselor in Randolph County; she also had achieved the distinction of 4-H Allstar. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Elkins for more than 50 years, John Hart Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, AAUW, Augusta Chapter 6 Order of Eastern Star and Gamma Chi Chi alumnae.
She was most proud of being able to care at home for her husband of 59 years who predeceased her Oct. 3, 2003. She will be remembered and missed as a vital member of her church and community, as an avid walker and for her thoughtfulness in sending cards.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ada V. Bradley.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Louise “Patty” Lohr Pearson of Charleston and Marcia Ann Lohr Scott of Raleigh, N.C.; and by her brother, Rex A. Bradley of Virginia Beach. She also leaves behind special caregivers and friends, Mary Zirkle and Donna Cottrell, Dr. Samuel K. Roberts, Dr. Jaroslaw S. Pondo; and a host of Hospice Care Corp. angels.

Betty Louise McDaniel Long, 78, a former resident of Parsons and a resident of Elkins, departed this life early Sunday morning, June 12, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, June 5, 1927, at Bretz, a daughter of the late Delbert McDaniel and Carrie Jones McDaniel.
On Nov. 23, 1945 at Elkins, she was married to Howard Leonard “Steve” Long, who preceded her in death Feb. 28, 2005. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Surviving are four sons, Howard “Steven” Long and wife, Jan, of Parsons, Danny Wayne Long and wife, Judy, of Centreville, Va., Myron Keith Long and wife, Lesia, of Capon Bridge and Michael Dale Long of Parsons; one daughter, Deborah “Susan” Houser and husband, Paul, of Valley Head; one brother, Wilfred “Sonny” McDaniel of Parsons; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Rodney McDaniel; four sisters, Hallie Moreland, Evelyn Vennear, Mildred Anderson and Madeline Rhoades; and one grandson, Jeffrey Scott Long.
She attended the schools of Tucker County. She was a homemaker and she loved working with crossword puzzles, and she was an avid cook. She was a member of Saint Paul’s United Methodist Church at Parsons.

Etta Virginia Coyner Long, 81, a resident of Hillsborough, N.J., died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at JFK at Haven Hospice in Edison, N.J.
She was born March 14, 1924, at Morgantown, a daughter of the late Joseph Garrison and Retta Lane Garrison.
She is survived by one son, Mark Daniel and wife, Linda Coyner, of Buckhannon; two daughters, Linda Lou Coyner and husband, Jerome Greene, of Naples, Fla., and Peggy and husband, Stanley Nadbielny, of Hillsborough, N.J.; one brother, Tom and wife, Ada Garrison, of Dunbar; one grandson, Mark Daniel Coyner Jr. and wife, Amanda, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two granddaughters, Charla D. Escobar and husband, Michael, of Moriches, N.Y. and Caren D. Wilcher and husband, Lyn, of Charleston; two great-granddaughters, Dominique Demus and Ashlee Wilcher; and three great-grandsons, Matteo Escobar, Mark Aaron Coyner and Christian Lee Coyner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mark Coyner, in 1954; and her second husband, Donald Long in 1993.
She was a homemaker and a resident of Hillsborough, N.J., spending her winters in Naples, Fla., and vacationing frequently in Buckhannon. Mrs. Long was an animal lover and enjoyed gardening, cooking and feeding the birds.

He was born Saturday, April 27, 1918, at Parsons, a son of the late Howard Miller Long and Vergie Susan Barb Long.
On Nov. 23, 1945, at Elkins, he was married to the former Betty Louise McDaniel, who survives. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.

James J. Long
James J. Long, 80, of 14 Carol St., Buckhannon, died Sunday, July 24, 2005, in McGuire Veterans Administration Hospital in Richmond, Va.
He was born Feb. 23, 1925, in Upshur County, a son of the late James H. Long and Eva Wilson Long.
On Dec. 6, 1952, he married Reta DeBarr Long, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two sons, James Ira and wife, Sharon Long, of Coatesville, Penn., and Rolland and wife, Lisa Long, of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Vesta Wilson of Rock Cave and Frena and husband, Everett Samples, of Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Heather and husband, Andrew Smith, of Newport News, Va., Michelle and husband, Noel Hudgins, of Yorktown, Va., Alyson Long of Newport News, Va., and Melissa Long of Hampton, Va.; four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, two nieces and five nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Long.
He was vice president of the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 33 and had received his 35-year pin. He was a member of Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of chief. During World War II, his ship LST-348 was torpedoed and sunk off the coast of Anzio, and he spent two days in the water awaiting pickup. He attended Sand Run Baptist Church.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. On Friday, he will lie in state at Sand Run Baptist Church from noon to 1 p.m., the service hour. The Rev. Donald Butcher will officiate and interment will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park at Tennerton. Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663, Frank B. Naomi C. Long
Naomi C. “Peg” Long, 72, of Rock Cave, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, in St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Hendrix and Naomi Gillespie Heater.
She was united in marriage Aug. 30, 1952, to Tom Long, who survives.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Burlin Long and wife, Kim, of Rochester, Pa.; one daughter, Dianne Long of Conway, Pa.; two granddaughters, Andrea Long of Conway, Pa., and Amanda Radaker of Rochester, Pa. She is also survived by one brother, Thomas Heater of Minnesota; one sister, Ruth Lehman of Oklahoma; and one sister-in-law, Marianne Heater of Arizona. Several nieces and nephews survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Long loved her grandchildren. She also loved her dogs and she enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was retired after 30 years of service as a physical therapist assistant with the Beaver County Geriatric Center. She was a Methodist by faith and attended the Salem Ridge United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mrs. Long will be moved to Salem Ridge United Methodist Church Friday to lie in state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. He is survived by three sisters, F. Yvonne Marson and husband, Harry, and Minta D. Lothes, all of Elkins, and Maria L. Hall and husband, Ron, of Hillsboro; one brother, R. Brian Lothes and wife, Rita, of Poca; four nieces; one nephew; and his paternal grandmother, DeSales Lothes of Elkins.
Stephen graduated from Elkins High School with the class of 1975. He attended West Virginia University and majored in computer science. He was with the State of Texas Insurance Department for 20 years. He was a Catholic by faith.
At Stephen’s request, his body was cremated. A memorial service will be held in Austin, Texas.  From 3 May 2005.

Beryl N. Loudin
Beryl N. Loudin, 86, a resident of Alliance, Ohio, died Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Canterbury Villa of Alliance, Ohio.
She was born Sept. 9, 1918, at French Creek, a daughter of the late William and Sophrona Phillips Howes.
On Nov. 20, 1933, she married Clovis A. Loudin, who preceded her in death in 1993.
Surviving are three daughters, Helen Cash of Ravenna, Ohio, Eleanor Neil of Summersville and Evelyn Wine and husband, Bob, of Summersville; one son, Charles Allen Loudin and wife, Nadine, of Ravenna, Ohio; 24 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Blanche Howes of Ravenna, Ohio, and Arlene Friend of Buckhannon; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Proceeding her in death were three sisters, Maude Hardman, Addie Fontaine and Lula Howes; and three brothers, Dewey, Clyde and Homer Howes.
She was a homemaker and attended the Liberty Bible Church in Atwater, Ohio.
Viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Tomblyn- Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Philip Hickman officiating. Lolita S. Loudin
Lolita Sophiah Loudin, 87, a resident of Goosepen Road, Roanoke, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at the home of her great niece.
She was born Oct. 17, 1917, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Fred Miles and Ella Casto Miles Hawkins.
On April 9, 1939, she was united in marriage to Alvin Gayle Loudin, who preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1966.
Surviving are one niece, Emma Adams Wilson of Cross Lanes; one great-niece, Lisa Posey and husband, Thomas L., of Roanoke; one great-nephew, David A. Wilson Jr. of Durham, N.C.; two great-great-nieces, Kortney Posey and Katelyn Lough, both of Roanoke; one great-great-nephew, Carl Posey of Roanoke; one foster great-great-nephew, John M. Stevens of Roanoke; and other family members, Carla Toothman, husband, Danny, and family of Houston, Texas.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister Chlotile Miles Adams.
She was a homemaker and a member of French Creek United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution and Pythian Sisters of Clarksburg.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Goldie Pearl Plum Loughry, 92, a resident of St. George and more recently a resident of Pataskala, Ohio, departed this life Sunday evening, April 24, 2005 at Pataskala, Ohio.
She was born Saturday, Feb. 8, 1913, at Licking Creek, St. George, a daughter of the late Albert Arthur Plum and Maudie Clara Bohon Plum.
She was married to Ellis Marvin Loughry, who preceded her in death during 1977.
Surviving are one son, Clay Lynn Loughry of Pataskala, Ohio; two daughters, Mary Pauline Nestor of Canton, Ohio, and Betty Colleen Knotts of St. George; one brother, Otto Clyde Plum of Crystal Springs, Elkins; three sisters, Decota Shahan of St. George, Dessie Wilda Miner of Hendricks and Leota Annis Parsons of Holly Meadows; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were one son, Clyde Amer Loughry; four brothers, Claude Earl Plum, Arthur Willard Plum, John Delbert Plum and Lester Forrest Plum; two sisters, Delphia Marie Wolfe and Elsie Madeline Shupp; one half sister, Glady Funk; one granddaughter, Patricia; one great-grandson, Christopher Lynn; and one son-in-law, Everett Knotts.
Mrs. Loughry attended the one-room school at Holly Meadows. She worked for the former Parsons Nursery and she was a member of the Sycamore Grove Church at Bull Run. She was a member of the Parsons Senior Center. She enjoyed quilting and sewing, loved flowers and was an avid gardener.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Agnes P. Louk
Agnes Pritt Louk, 96, a resident of Beverly and more recently of Nella’s Nursing Home Inc., passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Nella’s Nursing Home.
She was born July 5, 1909, a daughter of the late James and Ola Katherine Pritt.
On Nov. 30, 1931, in Beverly, she was married to Robert Louk, who preceded her in death April 21, 1974.
Surviving are her friends, Jerry Stalnaker and Sharon Stalnaker, with whom she made her home for more than 25 years and was nanny to their children, Tonya Gordon and husband, Bob, of East Dailey and their children J.B. and Michael, Chris Currence and husband, Tim, of Beverly and their son Austin, and Michele Wamsley and husband, David, of East Dailey; and a special friend, Pattie Laderach and her children, Anna Laderach and Marsha Yoakum.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Floella Estep, and two infant sisters.
Mrs. Louk was employed for 32 years as a telephone operator with the Tygart Valley Telephone Co. before her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and talking on the phone. Mrs. Louk attended Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church and was a Methodist by faith.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Frank Long and the Rev. Jurd P. Louk
Jurd P. Louk, 89, a former resident of Beverly and a resident of Prince George, Va., for the past seven years, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2004, at 4:10 a.m., at the residence of his daughter, Jeanette Bunner, where he and his wife had made their home for the past seven years. Death was attributed to cancer.
Born March 5, 1915, at Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Huff and Nancy McCauley Louk.
On Jan. 27, 1937, he was united in marriage to the former Flossie A. Wegman, who survives at Prince George, Va.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Jeanette Bunner of Prince George, Va., Joyce Price and husband, Kevin, of Belington, Mary Workman and husband, Bub, of Elkins and Marilyn Loudin and husband, Charlie, of Jamesburg, N.J.; eight sons, Charles L. Louk and Kenneth Louk, both of Prince George, Va., Junior Louk and wife, Carrie, and Jimmy Louk and wife, Norma, all of Beverly, Billy Louk and wife, Sue, and Donald Louk, all of Hopewell, Va.; Kevin Louk and wife, Sue, of Elkins and Clarence Louk and wife, Jenny, of Mill Creek; one sister, Irene Wheeler of Darien, Ga.; and two brothers, Ernest Louk of Waynesburg, Pa. and Gail Louk and wife, Pearl, of Ohio; 57 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were one daughter, Lillian Shreve; one son, Raymond Louk; five sisters, Florence Lucky, Missouri Bender, Abbie Johnson, Bernice Summerfield and Nina Stagger; two brothers, Sherman and Guy Louk; four grandchildren, Kevin Louk Jr., Bobbie Louk, Randy Shreve and Jessie Louk; and two great-grandsons, Matthew Stroud and Travis Louk.
He was a retired coal miner and retired from Grefco Insulation Co. in New Jersey in 1977 where he was employed in the maintenance department. He was a Protestant by faith and was also a member of the Civilian Conservation Camps. He was an avid hunter, loved camping with his family and was well-known for raising a large garden each year. He also loved fishing and had two special fishing buddies, Glen and Jack Collier.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from Runner Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. Pastor Jack Howell, of the Tygart Valley Baptist Church, will officiate. Nora L. Louk
Nora L. Louk, 92, formerly of Huttonsville and a resident of Nutter Fort, passed away Monday evening, June 27, 2005, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born July 20, 1912, at Valley Bend, a daughter of the late Herman Bennett and the late Arha Oxley Bennett.
On July 12, 1930 at Huttonsville, she married William Howard Louk, who preceded her in death Nov. 27, 1974.
Surviving are three sons, Bonnie Louk and wife, Marilee, of Garrettsville, Ohio, Russell Louk and wife, Brenda, of Buckhannon and James Louk and wife, Charlene, of Nutter Fort; two daughters-in-law, Mary Louk of Clarksville, Tenn., and Louise Louk of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two brothers, Carroll Bennett and Jennings Bennett, both of Newton Falls, Ohio; three sisters, Florence Pritt of Garrettsville, Ohio, Edna Watson of Mill Creek and Janet Hollobaugh of Rowlesburg. Fourteen grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Boyd and Vernon Louk; three brothers, Lewis, Charles and Wayne Bennett; and three sisters, Hallie Henline, Bessie Auxier and Evie Bennett.
Nora was a devoted mother and grandmother for many years. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. She was a devoted Christian and a Methodist by faith.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Long and the Rev. Ione Y. Loundin
Ione Y. Loudin, 89, a 60-year former resident of East Dailey, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2005, at 9:24 a.m. at the Swiss Village Nursing Home in Berne, Ind., where she had been a resident since October 2002.
Born March 22, 1916, at Czar, she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Cutright and Sarah Hoover Cutright Lewis.
On Aug. 12, 1933, she was united in marriage to Clancy “Click” Loundin, who preceded her in death in June 1983.
Ione is survived by a daughter, Carolee Roop of Berme, Ind.; and two sons, Howard D. Loudin of Mineral, Va., and Roscoe D. Loundin of Avon, Ohio. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were an infant son; three sisters, Fernie Smith, Clefta Poling and Viola Price; and two brothers, infant Orval Cutright and Herbert Cutright.
Ione was employed by the Conrad Restaurant in Dailey. She operated the Hide-A-Way Golf Course in Clarksburg for several years. In 1983, she retired after 10 years of service with Bata Shoe Co.
She was a member of the Baptist Church of Beverly as well as the Rebekah Lodge 103 of Huttonsville. She was an active volunteer of the Tyrand Parish.

Ruby J. Lowther
Ruby Jean Lowther, 77, a resident of Ireland, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 11, 1927, at Copen in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Wirt Smith and Violet McCray Smith and stepmother, the late Fannie King Smith.
On Dec. 11, 1947, she was married to Carl M. Lowther, who survives at Ireland.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four children, Sharon Allman and husband, Sonny, of Crawford, William Lowther of Wildcat; Retha Craig and husband, Ronnie, of Walkersville and Sandra Singleton and husband, Gerald, of Ireland; 11 grandchildren, Amber Allman Wright, Brad Allman, Kristi Lowther Gannon, Bill Lowther, Kim Bosley, Kaye Hewitt, Dennis Sapp, Connie Craig Simmons, Jared Singleton, Jill Singleton and Tracey Willett; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, William D. Smith of Bealton, Va.; and three sisters, Elsie Steerman of Harrington, Del., Madeline Eckes of Buckhannon and Virginia Ellis of New Castle, Del.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Karla; brothers, H. Kemp Smith and Gayle Smith; and sister, Mary Lee Collins.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Elijah Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the Shamrock Community Educational Outreach Service and former member of the Walkersville Rebekah Lodge.
The viewing will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Alkire Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Doug Smailes and the Rev. Vera Emma Lowther, 76, a resident of Volga, died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, in United Hospital Center at Clarksburg.
She was born Feb. 8, 1929, at Webster Springs, a daughter of the late David Clevenger and Ida Miller Clevenger.
On Oct. 31, 1948, she was married to Robert Grant Lowther, who preceded her in death Aug. 18, 1992.
Surviving are four daughters, Peggy Payne and husband, Zachary, of Belington, Patricia Sharp and husband, Robert, of Volga, Pamela Payne of Fairmont and Penny Helton and husband, Troy, of Volga; seven sons, Wayne Lowther and wife, Cookie, of Buckhannon, Robert Eugene Lowther and wife, Vickie, of Williamsport, Md., William Earl Lowther and wife, Rita, of Volga, Kenneth David Lowther and wife, Deborah, of Volga, Stanley Carl Lowther and wife, Tammy, of Buckhannon, Jeffery Lee Lowther of Volga and James Elwyn Lowther of Fairfax, Va.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Isa McCourt of Webster Springs.
Also preceding her in death were two sons, Curtis Ray Lowther and Larry Joseph Lowther; four brothers, Floyd, Harold, Carvil and Sylvester; and three sisters, Delpha, Rella and Orpha.
She was a homemaker and attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Margie Cook Ludwick, 83, of Petersburg, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md.

Velma L. Lutz
Ms. Velma Louetta Casto Lutz, 86, a life long resident of Belington and a resident of 210 Keyser Ave. in Belington departed this life Friday evening, Feb. 11, 2005, at her home. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born Jan. 20, 1919, at Belington, a daughter of the late Arla C. and Stella Smallwood Casto.
She was formerly married to Clayton G. Lutz, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Clayton G. Lutz and wife, Shirley, of Williamstown; one grandson, Scott E. Lutz and fiancÈ, Mindy Ford, of Boaz; three great-grandchildren, Scott Michael, Kaitlyn Paige and Colt William. Also surviving are one sister-in-law, Kathleen Casto of Buckhannon; two nephews, Darwin Casto and wife, Sue, of Buckhannon and David Casto and wife, Mary, of Philippi; special friends Bill, Sharon and Aaron Cross, all of Belington; and several cousins.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by three brothers, Woodford Dale, Earl Ray, and Cecil Junior Casto. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Ms. Lutz was a 1939 graduate of Belington High School and had recently retired from the Freedom Bank, formerly The Belington Bank, Dec. 31, 2004 with more than 40 years of service. She was a member of the Westside United Methodist Church in Belington, Westside United Methodist Women’s group and was also a member of the Tygart Valley Rebecca Lodge 181 in Belington where she had been a member for more than 60 years and was a past Nobal Grand. She had been involved with helping teach Sunday School at The Good Samaritan Center and reading to the children at the Belington Schools. Ms. Lutz loved life and her grandson and her great-grandchildren as well as her entire family. She touched the lives of many people and was loved by all who knew her and will be sadly missed.
Friends were received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington Sunday. Today friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. At 7 p.m. this evening, the Rebekah Lodge 181 will conducted ritualistic services from the funeral home chapel. Friends will again be received Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at which time Mrs. Lutz will be moved to the Westside United Methodist Church where she will lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted with the Rev. Rose “Jo” McCartney officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington. The family ask that memorial contributions also be made to the Westside United Methodist Church in care of Julia Stewart. Jane P. Lynn
Jane Pritt Lynn, 57, of Charlottesville, Va., died peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, at Martha Jefferson Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born Sept. 28, 1947, in Elkins, Jane was the daughter of the late Thaddeus McClellan Pritt and Mary Elizabeth Gatewood Pritt.
Mrs. Lynn is survived by her husband, Daniel R. Lynn; three daughters, Allison L. Lynn of Portsmouth, Va., Carter L. Lowery and husband, Matthew, and Amy L Detwiler and husband, Colin, all of Williamsburg, Va.; a brother, Thaddeus M. “Mac” Pritt III of Elkins; and her grandsons, Nathan D. Lowery, Matthew “Blake” Lowery and soon-to-be-born Daniel Reid Lowery.
She graduated in 1969 from Mary Baldwin College where she earned a teaching certificate and a degree in mathematics and philosophy. She then taught high school mathematics in Lynchburg, Va. While raising her three daughters, she completed her postgraduate studies in accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University. After receiving her CPA certificate, she worked for the public accounting firm Goodman and Co. In 1986, she joined the firm Lawson Enterprises and later became vice president for finance and administration. She retired from public work in 1993. In 1999, she and her husband, Dan, moved from their longtime home in Williamsburg to the Charlottesville area.
“Mom” loved a good bargain and days spent in her garden. Her passions revolved around her family, especially playing with her grandsons. Her other interests included genealogy and tinkering with her many computers.
The family will receive friends at 7 p.m. today at their home. The family also requests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Cancer Society. Teague Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.  From 8 Sep 2005.
