Daniel E. Falls
Daniel Edwin Falls, 24, of Spelter, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, as the result of
an auto accident.
He was born Nov. 26, 1980, in Morgantown, a son of Dana E. And Antionette L.
LeDonne Falls, both of Spelter.
He attended Lincoln High School and was employed by Union Drilling Inc. of
Buckhannon as a chain hand. Daniel enjoyed many outdoor activities such as
hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed being around his family and friends and
his special friends, Brain Scott and Crystal.
He was preceded in death by a niece, Cassandra Falls; paternal grandparents,
Orville and Virginia Falls; and maternal grandparents, Katherine and Anthony
LeDonne.
In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by two sisters, Brenda Falls
Cummings and husband, James, of Spelter and Dana Falls Crites and husband,
Charles, of Clarksburg; one niece, Carrie Falls of Spelter; one nephew, Andrew
Cummings of Spelter; and several aunts and uncles.
Family and friends will be received at Dorsey Funeral Home, 701 S. Pike St. in
Shinnston from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be Wednesday at
11 a.m. with the Rev. Carol Nestor officiating. Interment will follow in

Walter W. Fansler
Walter Wilton Fansler, Jr., 74, of Bridgewater, died on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005,
at his home.
He was born in Beverly on Jan. 2, 1931, a son of the late Walter Wilton Sr. and
Hattie (Weese) Fansler.
He worked as a surveyor and engineer for the U.S. Forestry Service.
Walter was a member of Bridgewater United Methodist Church Bridgewater, the
Bridgewater United Methodist Men, the Harrisonburg Elks Lodge No. 450, the
Independent Order of Odd Fellows in Elkins and the Blue Ridge Antique Power
Association.
He was united in marriage on March 1, 1958, to Juanita Mae (Vest) Fansler of
Bridgewater.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, W. Wilton Fansler III and wife,
Rebecca, of Bridgewater; two sisters, Donna Jean Weese of Beverly and Ella Ruth
Montoney of Elkins.
One niece and several nephews also survive.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at the Johnson Funeral
Service in Bridgewater from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be at the
Bridgewater United Methodist Church at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, with the
Revs. Douglas D. Gestwick, Carroll Goodrich and Milton B. Kemp officiating.
Entombment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Wilburn L. “Legs” Fansler, 90, of Davis, passed away Thursday, March 10,
2005, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas.
He was born Aug. 22, 1914, in Thomas, a son of the late Grover Cleveland and
Clarissa Jane Satterfield Fansler.
He married his wife, Freda Marie Govendich Fansler of Davis, on Aug. 2, 1942 at
Fort Monmouth, N.J.
He is also survived by one daughter, Nancy Jane Blacksberg and husband, Monte,
of Gaithersburg, Md.; two grandsons, Robert Thomas Harris of Huntington and
Randall Stewart Pitchford II of Plano, Texas; and one great-grandson, Randall
Stewart Pitchford III.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Wilson, Cleveland and Bruce Fansler;
and one sister, Virginia Fansler Suder.
Mr. Fansler retired from the military as a lieutenant colonel. He was a veteran
of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the Davis
United Methodist Church.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery with the
Rev. James Martin officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial

Wilburn L. Fansler
Retired Lt. Col. Wilburn L. Fansler, 90, of Davis, died March 10, 2005, at
Cortland Acres Care Center in Thomas.
He was born Aug. 22, 1914, at Thomas, the son of the late Grover C. Fansler and
Clara Jane Satterfield Fansler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Woodrow
W. Fansler, Grover C. Fansler Jr. and Bruce Fansler; and one sister, Virginia
Fansler Suder.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marie “Daisy” Govedich Fansler; a
daughter, Nancy Jane Blacksberg, and son-in-law, Monte Blacksberg, of
Gaithersburg, Md.; grandsons, Robert T. Harris of Huntington and Randall
Pitchford II of Plano, Texas; great-grandson, Randall S. Pitchford III; nephews,
Paul C. Mosser II of Clarkston, Mich., and Todd Fansler of Thomas; and niece,
Beverly Olsen of Boise, Idaho.
He was a graduate of Thomas Fairfax High School. He was commissioned at Ft.
Monmouth, N.J., in 1942, and the Command and General Staff College of Ft.
Leavenworth, Kan., in 1963. He was a veteran of World War II and retired after
27 years of duty.
He was a 50-year member of Fairfax Lodge 174 AF & AM in Thomas, a member of
the United Methodist Church of Davis, a former member of Thomas Volunteer Fire
Department, a life member of Voiture 40 & 8, the American Legion and the
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Graveside military services were conducted at Rosehill Cemetery at Thomas by
members of the American Legion Post 71 of Oakland, Md., and Veterans of Foreign
Wars of Deer Park, Md. The family requests any contributions be made to the

Kermit C. Farley
Kermit C. Farley, 94, a resident of Lindsay, Okla., and formerly of Upshur
County, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, in Lindsay, Okla.
Born Sept. 4, 1911, in Upshur County, where he lived off and on until 2004, he
was the son of the late James and Greta Farley.
He was married to Mildred Farley, who passed away after 48 years of marriage.
Surviving are his children, Connie Griffith and husband, the Rev. John Griffith,
of Lindsay, Okla., Linda Zagorski and husband, Rich, of Phoenix, Ariz., Mildred
Vargo and friend, Josef Vasek, of Cleveland, Ohio, James Farley and fiance,
Christine Rigdon, of Garretsville, Ohio, Kermit D. Farley and wife, Sharon, of
Phoenix, Ariz., and Patrick Farley and friend, Ann Bellieveau, of Streetsburg,
Ohio; a son-in-law, Shannon Wooten, who was married to Mr. Farley’s deceased
daughter, Darlene Wooten; 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and nine
great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one sister and
one daughter.
He was a member of the North Buckhannon Mount Hermon United Methodist Church and
the First Freewill Baptist Church of Lindsay, Okla. During his life he served in
many professions to support his family — boxer, meat cutter, coal miner and
General Motors factory worker. He was a lifetime member of the Lions Club and
loved to fish, hunt, spend time with family and had a love for life in general.
Viewing will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Tomblyn-Whitescarver
Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at the
funeral home with the Rev. John Griffith officiating. Interment will follow in

Beverly J. Farrabee
Beverly J. Farrabee, 36, a resident of Route 2, Box 137A, French Creek, died
Saturday, March 12, 2005, at her home.
She was born July 3, 1968, in Barnsville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Kenneth
R. Farrabee and Lucille Kelley Farrabee Harper, who survives at French Creek.
Also surviving are her stepfather, James Harper of French Creek; three sisters,
Linda Dasilda and Louise Howard, both of Buckhannon and Patricia Ryan of French
Creek; two brothers James Farrabee of Ohio and Kenneth W. Farrabee of French
Creek; several nephews and nieces; two stepbrothers Tommy Harper of Virginia and
James M. Harper of Hinkleville; and one stepsister, Amy Harper of Weston.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one brother, Paul
Farrabee.
She was a mechanic for Wal-Mart.
Friends will be received Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair

Elizabeth W. Farrell
Elizabeth Wilcox Farrell, 67, of Weston died on April 22, 2005, at her home
after an extended illness.
She was born on Oct. 13, 1937, in Madison, Wis., a daughter of the late Walter
and Pauline Wilcox of Leesburg, Va.
She is survived by one son, Donald Farrell and wife, of Lehartsville, Pa.; two
daughters, Nannette Little John and husband of Severna Park, Md., and Rosanna
Duggan and husband of Purcellville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Jessie and Sarah
Farrell of Bethlehem, Pa., Lindsay, Aaron and Avery Little John of Severna Park,
Md., and Quinn Duggan of Purcellville, Va.
Ms. Farrell retired from William R. Sharpe Jr. Hospital where she worked as an
associate professor through the Department of Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry
of West Virginia University. She was a lifelong advocate for the mentally ill.
She previously served on the Board of Directors for the West Virginia chapter of
the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and the West Virginia chapter of the
National Organization for Women. She earned a bachelor of science and a master
of science degree from the University of Maryland. She also earned a master of
social work degree from Harvard University’s School of Social Work in
Washington, D.C.
A memorial service will be held at the Lewis County Emergency Squad at 1:30 p.m.
on Saturday. At the request of Ms. Ferrell, memorial contributions should be
made in her name to the Lewis County Senior Center Transport Fund, Our Neighbor

Amelia P. Fato
Amelia P. Fato, 93, a resident of Buckhannon, died Monday, Feb. 14, 2005, at
Serenity Care in Buckhannon.
She was born July 1, 1911, a daughter of the late Silvio Ventura and Lisa Stocco
Ventura.
On. Sept. 26, 1032, she was united in marriage to Saverio Fato, who preceded her
in death on Aug. 22, 2000.
Surviving are three sons, Gennaro Fato of Onley, Md., Battista Fato of Silver
Spring, Md., and Frank Fato of Buckhannon; 15 grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son,
John Fato.
She was a homemaker and attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
Friends will be received Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral

David Davies “LD” Faunce IV, 29, passed away Oct. 25, 2005, at Martin
Memorial South Hospital, Stuart, Fla.
He was born July 17, 1976, at Elkins, the son of David Davies Faunce III of
Stuart, Fla. and Nora K. Worden Faunce of Davis.
He is survived by his paternal grandfather, David D. Faunce Jr. of Florida; five
uncles, Jeffrey Faunce of Rochester, N.Y., Gene Worden of Parsons, Ed Worden of
Davis, George Worden of Elkins and Tim Worden of Davis; and one aunt, Cheryl
Faunce of Jupiter, Fla.
“LD” was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1994.
At the request of his family, his remains were cremated. A memorial service will
be at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Davis. In lieu of

Isabell G. Fawley
Isabell Gay Louk Fawley, 77, a resident of Montrose, departed this life Friday
evening, April 1, 2005, at Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. She had been in
declining health.
She was born Sunday, Oct. 30, 1927, at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late
Emmett Louk and Dolly Kyle Louk.
On Nov. 12, 1966, at Baltimore, Md., she was married to Carl Arthur Fawley, who
preceded her in death April 9, 1998. Surviving are one daughter, Margaret
Schoonover of Montrose; two stepsons, Donnie A. Fawley and Dorsey L. Fawley;
four grandchildren, Milton Broseker III, Brian Broseker, Karen Bizzell and Scott
Broseker; seven great-grandchildren, Crystal, Milton IV, James, Jennifer,
Gregory and Shelby Lynn; and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death
besides her parents and husband were one stepson, Dale W. Fawley; two brothers,
Glenn and Francis Louk; four sisters, Retha, Opal, Bernice and Betty; and one
great-granddaughter, Brittany Renee Broseker.
She attended the schools of Randolph County, was a homemaker and was a Baptist
by faith.

Mary Isabelle Moore Feaster, 89, a former resident of Davis Street, Elkins, and

Mary Isabelle Moore Feaster, 89, a former resident of Davis Street, Elkins, and
for the past 17 years a resident of Little Rock, Ark., departed this life
Friday, April 15, 2005, at Briarwood Nursing Facility at Little Rock. She had
been in declining health for the past year.
She was born Saturday, Dec. 11, 1915, at Elkwater, a daughter of the late
Everett Burns Moore and Sarah Helen Daft Moore. Surviving are one daughter,
Marsha Chambers and husband, Gary, of Little Rock, Ark.; one sister, Ruth
Hamrick, of Little Rock, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents is one brother, Frank B. “Smoke”
Moore; one sister, Kathleen Moore; and four half brothers, Fred, Paul, Ted and
Gerald Moore.
Isabelle attended the schools of Randolph County and was a graduate of Tygarts
Valley High School with the class of 1938. She obtained her degree as a
registered nurse at the City Hospital at Elkins. She worked for many years as a
registered nurse for various doctors and hospitals in the Elkins and Philippi
areas. She was a member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church.

Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Bryan will

Lillian I. Furby Fedunik, passed from this life Friday, March 4, 2005, having
completed a fruitful and meaningful journey of 86 years. She passed away at
Davis Memorial Hospital and had made her home at Barbour County Good Samaritan
Center at Belington, where she had loving care for the past six years of her
life.
She was born, Sunday, Feb. 2, 1919, at Gilmer County, a daughter of the late
Orval D. Furby and Calista Yerkey Furby. She was married to Anthony Fedunik, who
preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Sue Lambert and husband, Kermit, of Bowden;
one brother, Thurman Furby and wife, Vicki, of Florence, Ore.; two sisters,
Freda Burkhammer of Jane Lew and Maria Furby of Phoenix, Ariz,; one stepgrandson,
Steven Lambert of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband are two brothers, Dale A.
Furby and Vernon L. Furby; and two sisters, Mary Channell and Addie Mullins.
Lillian was a homemaker and a protestant by faith.

Dr. Peter E. Ferguson
Dr. Peter E. Ferguson, 59, passed away in his home on the weekend of June
25, 2005.
He was born Feb. 10, 1946, in Marshalltown, Iowa, a son of Vernon and Freda
Ferguson.
He graduated from the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine in 1971. His
internship and residency were done while serving in the U.S. Air Force at
Lackland AFB in Texas. He rose to the rank of major and was commissioned to
serve in Anchorage, Alaska.
Dr. Ferguson spent much of his professional life as a psychiatrist serving those
that needed his help the most. He worked at community hospitals and local mental
health centers in Alaska, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Idaho, and most
recently in Joplin, Mo.
Peter was a father, a friend, and a healer. Pete’s gift was touching people
when they were down in just the right way. He enriched people’s lives by the
relationship that he developed with them, the bounty of spirit that he shared
with his friends, and his overflowing generosity that he dispensed on every
person that he met.
Survivors include an abundance of people that loved and appreciated him, friends
and loved ones, his clients and past clients, and his many colleagues in the
medical field. He is also survived by his daughter, Heather, her husband, Max,
and his grandchildren, Madison, Corbin, and a third who is due to be born in two
weeks.
His life and all that he gave will be celebrated and remembered on Thursday at
6:30 p.m. at the Mason-Woodward Mortuary in Joplin, Mo. A celebration of life
will follow immediately afterward at Isadora’s Wonderful Things located at
3021 S. Main St. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to Souls

Gertrude G. Findley
Mrs. Gertrude Griffith Findley, 95, a resident of 209 Brandenburg St. in
Belington and more recently a resident of Mansfield Place in Philippi, departed
this life early Thursday morning, March 3, 2005, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at
Morgantown. She had been in declining health for quite some time.
She was born Dec. 18, 1909, at Barbour County, a daughter of the late James W.
and Ivah Thompson Griffith.
On June 7, 1943, she was united in marriage to Hugh G. Findley who preceded her
in death Feb. 11, 1992.
Surviving are two brothers, Brooks Griffith of Philippi and Adron C. Griffith of
Fairmont; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and
husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, George Conwell and Howard
Griffith.
Mrs. Findley attended the schools of Barbour County and graduated from Alderson
Broaddus College and the Fairmont State College and did graduate work at West
Virginia University. She was employed as a school teacher in Barbour County for
a period of 47 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ, the Barbour
County Senior Citizens, American Association of Retired Persons and a life
Member of the Parent Teachers’ Association.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. Saturday and Sunday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will
be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Evangelist Michael Phillips
officiating Interment will follow in Fraternal Cemetery at Belington . The

Charles W. Fischl
Charles W. Fischl, 71, of Durbin, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2005, at
Nella’s Nursing Home in Elkins.
Born Aug. 16, 1933, in Allentown, Pa., he was the son of the late Joseph and
Mary Kammetler Fischl.
Surviving are four daughters, Crystal Sheets of Green Bank, Tina Fischl of

Betty R. Fitzwater
Betty R. Fitzwater, 75, of Newark, Del., died Thursday May 3, 2005, at her
home.
She was born in Junior, a daughter of the late Gordon and Cloie McDonald.
Her husband of 54 years, Robert Fitzwater, survives.
Also surviving are four children; and eight sisters, Helen Sturm, Gay Thorn,
Luretta Winkler, Dorothy Channell, Jean Hawkins, Jerrine Brady, Lola Bussey and
Dixie Pride.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bradley and Paul McDonald.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Weaver Nazarene Church

Joseph Raymond Fitzwater, 85, a resident of the Laurel View Apartments in
Belington departed this life at 6:35 p.m. Friday. Dec. 31, 2004, in the Veterans
Administration Medical Center at Clarksburg. He had been in declining health for

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one daughter,
Judy Ann Roberts.
He attended the schools of Barbour County, and served in the U.S. Army from 1939
to 1945 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack in 1941. He
was employed for many years with the East Ohio Gas Co. in the customer service
department as a central technician from which he retired. He was a former member
of the Knights of Pythias and was a Protestant by faith.
At the request of the deceased his remains will be cremated and a graveside
service will be held at Fraternal Cemetery in Belington at a later date, at

Mary Frances Gooden Fitzwater, 55, a resident of Elkins, passed away Wednesday,
Jan. 26, 2005, at home with family.
She was born May 5, 1949, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Glenville Mearle
Gooden and Thelma Grace Powley Gooden.
Surviving is her loving companion of 19 years, James Lee Vanpelt and their
cherished pet, Pookie; one son, Levi Prince Fitzwater of Elkins; two daughters,
Lenise Jane Currence and husband, Jimmie, of Mill Creek; Lynette June Walton and
husband, Christopher, of Gore, Va., and their father, Roy Albert Fitzwater, of
Elkins; one sister, Tammy Elaine Fenton and husband, Bob, of Martinsburg; two
brothers, Howard Wilson Gooden and wife, Suzie, of Beckley and Ricky Glenn
Gooden of Charles Town; six grandchildren, Alisa D. Currence, Anthony Q.
Currence, Nathan A. Dodson, Jaime L. Walton, Brandon O. Walton and Krista L.P.
Walton; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Candace Lynn King.
Mrs. Fitzwater was a homemaker, a certified nursing assistant, an active
women’s auxiliary member and was baptized as a Christian.

Mary Gooden Fitzwater, 55, a resident of Central School Apartments, passed away
Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at her residence. She had been in failing health;
however, her death was unexpected.
Born May 5, 1949, in Elkins, she was the daughter of the late Glenville and
Thelma Powley Gooden.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Lenise Currence and husband, Jimmie, of Mill
Creek and Lynette Walton and husband, Christopher, of Gore; one son, Levi P.
Fitzwater of Elkins; one sister, Tammy Fenton and husband, Bob, of Martinsburg;
two brothers, Howard Gooden and wife, Susie, of Beckley and Ricky Gooden of
Charles Town; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was one sister, Candice King.
Mary was employed at Nella’s Nursing Home as a CNA. She also worked for Elkins
Regional Convalescent Center and was last employed by Davis & Elkins
College. She was a Christian by faith.
At the request of the deceased the remains were cremated.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home chapel
at 1 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. The F.E. Runner

Mary Ann Flanagan, 57, of Dryfork, passed away at her residence on Oct. 14,
2005.
She was born Aug. 4, 1948, in Red Creek, a daughter of the late Ivan and Eva
Pearl Waybright Eye.
She is survived by her husband, M. Alan Flanagan, at home; two sons, Jessee A.
Flanagan of Fredericksburg, Va., and Eric W. Flanagan of Inwood; four brothers,
Ivan Eye Jr. of Painesville, Ohio; Okey W. Eye of Hendricks, Hoy Michael Eye of
Hendricks and Donald Eye of Red Creek; five sisters, Juanita Cosner of Thomas,
Norean Hedrick of Red Creek, Irene Nelson of Dryfork, Eva Frances Riffle of
North Madison, Ohio, and Martha Bell Smith of Keyser; and two grandchildren,
Madeline Rae Flanagan and Dane Nathaniel Flanagan. She was preceded in death by
three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Flanagan was previously employed in the
retail industry in Hay Market, Va.

Franklin Andrew Flanagan-Metzler, stillborn son of Tony Lee Metzler of
Buckhannon and Leona Mae Flanagan and companion, Kenneth Davis of Buckhannon,
passed away at birth Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in Davis Memorial Hospital at 4:45
a.m.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a sister, Dakota Cheyenne Flanagan, 6,
at home; maternal grandmother, Amy Leigh Deuley of Buckhannon and
stepgrandfather, Ronald Deuley of Buckhannon; paternal grandmother, Debbie Smith
of Ellamore; Maternal great-grandparents, Leona and Larry Zirkle of Mabie and
Eden Hope Bender of Adrian; paternal great-grandparents, James and Rena Smith of
Buckhannon; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his maternal grandfather, Cpt. Sandy Gene Bender of
Fort Knox, Ky.; paternal grandfather, Franklin Claypoot; and maternal
great-grandfathers, Hartzel C. Bender and Amos Flanagan.

Margaret Virginia Coberly Fleming, 84, a resident of Valentine’s Personal Care
Home in Elkins, passed away at 5:05 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, in the home.
She was born April 12, 1921, at Montrose, a daughter of the late Glenn Douglas
and Elzina “Ina” Mae Myers Coberly.
She was married to Harvey Earl Fleming, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Robert Andrew Morris and wife, Sandy, of Pittsburgh, Pa.;
and three daughters, Connie Anderson and husband, Donald, of Bluefield, Jean
Safrit and husband, Robert, of Aberdeen, Md., and Mary Beth Bennett and husband,
David, of Kokomo, Ind.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Burl Coberly and Joe Coberly; and
five sisters, Kathleen Finn, Evelyn Cobb, Natalie Whetsell, Dottie Vanscoy and
Kate Wargo.
Mrs. Fleming attended the schools of Randolph County and Davis Memorial Hospital
School of Nursing. She worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years.

Claude M. Fletcher, 68, of Route 2, Buckhannon, died Thursday, March 10, 2005,
at Louis A. Johnson Veteran Administration Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 30, 1936, at Buckhannon, a son of Anna Kimble Fletcher of
Buckhannon and the late Clark Fletcher.
On July 14, 1963, he was married to Glenna Wamsley Fletcher, who survives at
Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Joan Howes and husband, Mark, of Belington and
Nancy Stalnaker and husband, Dan, of Elkins; two sons, Bryan Lee Fletcher and
wife, Cynthia, of Coalton and David Fletcher and wife, Jennifer, of Buckhannon;
three sisters, Thelma Tucker of Fairmont, Pauline Montgomery of Idaho and
Gertrude Fletcher of Buckhannon; and seven grandchildren.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a military policeman and

Grace Forinash, 97, a 50-year resident of Buckhannon, died Monday, Sept. 19,
2005, at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. She had been in failing health for

Grace was born June 10, 1908, at Huttonsville, a daughter of the late Ballard
and Florence Newhouse McGee.
On Oct. 20, 1927, she married Dainor Forinash, who preceded her in death Nov.
14, 1999. They had been married for 72 years.
She is survived by her youngest brother, Walter McGee and wife, Brenda; and many
loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers, Hobert McGee, who died in World War
II, Nelson McGee, Clinton McGee, Gus McGee, Samuel McGee, Basil McGee, George
McGee and Otha Howe McGee, who died in World War I; and two sisters, Theresa
Holt and Mae Harris.
Grace was a homemaker and an active member of Chapel Hill United Methodist
Church in Buckhannon. In love with her church family, she taught Sunday school
and was a powerful Christian influence to all she met.

Margie Louise Forinash, 89, a former resident of Huttonsville, who for the past

Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
She was born Feb. 10, 1916, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Ladew Lee
Lloyd and Blanche Tacy Lloyd.
On May 7, 1934, at Oakland, Md., she was married to John Bosworth Forinash, who
preceded her in death Dec. 17, 1984.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Ronald F. (Carolyn) Mathias of Havre de
Grace, Md., and Mrs. Edsel (Mary Anne) Hogan of Franklin; one brother, Bobby B.
Lloyd of Elkins; eight grandchildren, John William and Jeffrey Lee Forinash,
Katherine Mathias Shrader, Ronald Mark and Michael Benjamin Mathias, Elizabeth
Mathias Lindes, Julie Hogan Smith and Robert Lee Hogan. Also surviving are 13
great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Victor L. Forinash; one brother and
one sister.
She graduated from Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1932 and was a
member of the Home Economics Club, played girls basketball and was the sports
reporter for the school paper for four years. Mrs. Forinash was an avid reader
of books, loved to write history and was an outstanding cook and seamstress, and
cherished her family and friends. She was a member of the Tygarts Valley
Presbyterian Church in Huttonsville, Randolph Chapter 74 Order of the Eastern
Star and Huttonsville Rebecca Lodge 103 for more than 50 years and John Hart
Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The family will receive friends at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins today from 6
p.m. to 8 p.m. At 7 p.m., Randolph Chapter 74 Order of the Eastern Star will
conduct a memorial service. On Saturday, Mrs. Forinash will be moved to the

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Fortini, in 1999; one son,

Harbor, Fla.; two sisters Mildred Turek of Wheeling and Thelma Dillon of

Clinton William Fortney, 66, a former resident of Mill Creek and a patient in

He was born June 9, 1939, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Charles Clinton and
Edith Elizabeth Scott Fortney.
He had never married.

Clinton was a farmer and was employed by various sawmills and Monongahela Power
Co. He built crafts that were displayed at state and world fairs and wrote a

Charles W. Fox Sr., 69, who has lived in Warren, Ohio since 1953, died Thursday,

Kim; mother, Norma Zirkel; four brothers, two sisters, six sisters-in-law, two

William L. “Bill” Francis, 66, of Capon Bridge, died Sunday, April 24, 2005,
at his residence.
Mr. Francis was born Aug. 24, 1938, in Fairmont, the son of the late Thomas M.
and Helen Robinson Francis.
He was a production manager for American Woodmark. He was a real estate agent
for New Century Realty in Capon Bridge and was a beekeeper. He attended the
Capon Bridge United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 29 in
Moorefield.
He was married to Peggy Joann Anderson on Nov. 21, 1982, in Clearbrook, Va.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, William R. Francis and David S. Francis,
both of Winchester, Va., and Thomas J. Francis of Front Royal, Va.; two
brothers, Tom Francis and Ken Francis, both of Elkins; three sisters, Joyce
Irons of Colfax, Va., Jane Nyberg of Fairmont and Judy Miller of East Hampton,
Conn.; one grandchild, six step-children, nine stepgrandchildren and three
stepgreat-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the Giffin Funeral Home in Capon
Bridge. Officiating will be Ron Bowyer. A private inurnment will take place at a

Stanley Richard Fredlock, 79, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005.
Born Nov. 21, 1925, at Elkins, he was the son of the late John Riley Fredlock
and Gladys Hill Furbee.
Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Marie Kendo and Delmar of
Harleyville, S.C., Marsha Kay Reckley and William of Thurmont, Md., and Carla
Ellen Engle and Steve of Clarksburg; one sister, Louise Grace Parker of Las
Vegas, Nev.; and four grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Goss Fredlock; and one sister,
Virginia Ruth Hinkle.
He graduated from Elkins High School and Davis & Elkins College in 1950 with
a bachelor’s degree in engineering. He was formerly employed with Weirton
Steel Co. and the National Steel Corp. Mr. Fredlock was a member of Lyttleton
Street United Methodist Church. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during
World War II as a radioman 3/c attached to COMPAC Fleet under Admiral Halsey. He
was also a member of the Osiris Shrine Temple, Wheeling.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, at Lyttleton Street
United Methodist Church in Camden, S.C.. with the Rev. Frank Griffith
officiating. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary immediately

Mr. Bernard Earl “Johnny” Freeman, 92, a resident of 305 W. Sixth St. in
Junior, departed this life at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, in St.
Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He had been in declining health for the past
two months.
He was born Feb. 14, 1913, at Weaver community, the son of the late Greenbarry
Compton and Sophia Loar Freeman.
He was united in marriage to the former Clora Estaline Row, who preceded him in
death in 1984.
He is survived by three sons, Joel Freeman and wife, Tammy, of Junior, Richard
Freeman and wife, Cindy, of Penn, Pa., and Owen “Mickey” Freeman and wife,
Paula, of Junior; one sister, Georgia Shomo of Grafton; 11 grandchildren,
Michelle, Mike, Angie, Rachel, Eric, Amy, Ashley, Paul, Joel Jr., Andrew and
James; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son,
Bernard Allen Freeman; four sisters, Macel Scott, Nina Row, Edith Montgomery and
Delma Freeman; and two brothers, Ken and Arlie Freeman.
Mr. Freeman attended the schools of Randolph County, was a coal miner for most
of his adult life, retiring from Mars Mining Co. in 1971. He belonged to United
Mine Workers of America and was a member of Weaver Church of the Nazarene.

Belington Sunday and will be received today until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, when
final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Doyle

Billie D. Freeman
Billie Denis Freeman, 71, a resident of willis, Texas and a former resident of
Philippi passed away Monday, May 23, 2005, in the Houston Northwest Medical
Center in houston, Texas after a short illness. He was born Oct. 8, 1933,
in Moatsville, a son of the late Willie and Catherine Shaffer Freeman.
He was united in marriage Jan. 14, 1955, to Pualie Hotsinpiller Freeman, who
survies in Willis Texas.
Also surviving are three daughters, Tracy Leasa Freeman Olds and husband, Dnaile
R. Olds, Kelli Lane Freeman Vanscoy and husband Randall K. Vanscoy, and Whitni
Lynn Freeman Kines and husband, James E. Kines Jr.; four sisters, Hazel Shaw,
Nellie Petrosian, Nola Hunt and Reta Phillips; one brother, Lester Freeman; four
grandchildren, Tasha Marie Olds, Kendyl lane Olds, SAhannon Rae Vanscoy and
Parker James Kines.
Bill graduate from Kasson High School with the class of 1952. He graduated
from the Northwest School of Operating Engineers in 1959. Bill was
employed as a store manger for Garden Fresh supermarkets. He had completed
17 years of service when he decided to pursue a mining career with Republic
Steel Mines. He worked as a miner operator and fire boss and completed his
certification for mine foreman. He was also part owner in Freeman's Custom
Cutting meat shop. when the mines closed, he and Pauline moved to Atlanta,
Ga., where he went back to his former profession of cutting meat for Win
Dixie. He retired from Winn Dixie and moved to the north shore of Lake
Conroe in Willis, Texas. He worked in the meat department of Wal-Mart of
Conroe, Texas, until his demise. He was a member of Local Union UMWA 4162 and
past president of local District 50 for the United Steelworkers. He was a
member of the NRA and a past member of the Isaak Walton League and the Ty-Hannon
Sportsman's Club.
He enjoyed many years of boating, fishing and bird-watching from his deck on the
lake. He loved traveling, vacationing and spending time with his friends
and family. He was widely known for his fabulous breakfasts of homemade
buckwheat cakes and homemade Italian sausage.
He was a member of the lone Star Cowboy church in Montgomery, Texas. bill
was a loving husband, wonderful father and fabulous grandfather. His
passing will leave a void in his families and friends lives.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral home at 216 N. Walnut St. in
Philippi from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., the
service hour. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens in

She was born Friday, March 28, 1969, at Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late
Joseph Allen and Myrtle Louise Parsons Freeman.
She is survived by two sisters, Tammy Landis Weber of Missouri and Dr. Terry
Lynn Carr and husband, James “Tom,” of Canaan Valley; two nephews, Cory Carr
of Canaan Valley and Dustine Weber of Missouri; and three nieces, Amber Carr of
Canaan Valley, and LaCretia and Heather of Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Claude E. and Inez J. Parsons,
and her great-grandmother, Ethel Pennington.
She moved to Tucker County with her mother and sisters in 1980. She was junior
at Tucker County High School in 1985, when she was involved in a motor vehicle
accident that resulted in a head injury. After a few years of rehabilitation,
she became a resident of Morgantown, under the care of R.E.M.

Daniel Harold Frey, 73, of Route 1, Moatsville, died Saturday evening, March 12,
2005, in Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, Clarksburg,
following an extended illness.
He was born June 17, 1931, in Hot Springs, Ark., a son of the late Floyd Thamer
and Hazel Elizabeth Marshall Frey.
On July 17, 1954, he married the former Rose A. Boyles, who survives at Route 1,
Moatsville.
Also surviving are one son, Larry Alan Frey of Moatsville; one daughter, Joyce
Ann Frey of Roanoke, Va.; three brothers, Ralph “Chick” Frey and Charles
“Boomer” Frey and wife, Colleen, all of Belington, and George “Gus” Frey
and wife, Betty, of Moatsville; two sisters, Margaret “Babe” Marsh and
husband, Dale, of Moatsville and Edythe Marsh of Philippi; two half brothers,
John T. “Tom” Frey and wife, Noretta, of Moatsville and Darl E. “Bevo”
Frey of Philippi; and a special sister-in-law, Maydell Frey of Nestorville.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd Thamer “Bus” Frey Jr.,
Robert “Grapy” Frey and James William Frey; and two sisters, Christine Frey
Morris and Joan Frey.
Mr. Frey was a retired carpenter and had worked in residential, commercial and
heavy construction. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the
U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Nestorville United Methodist Church and
the Carpenter’s Local.
Funeral services will be conducted from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385
S. Main Street, Philippi, at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Kenny Kendall will

She was born Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1920, at Thomas, a daughter of the late Pearlie
Carr and Eva White Carr Cross.
On Jan. 15, 1942 at Rawlings, Md., she was married to Burley D. Fridley, who
preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1997.
Surviving are two sons, Danny Allen Fridley and wife, Sharon, of Arthurdale and
Eric Sean Fridley and wife, Angela, of Oakland, Md.; one daughter, Lana Gale
Fridley Oaster of Hambleton; five grandchildren; April Oaster Miller and
husband, Rick, of Parsons, Collin Fridley of Florida, Kendall Fridley of
Morgantown, Heather Fridley and Sara Fridley, both of Oakland, Md.; two
great-grandchildren; Brendan Miller and Olivia Miller, both of Parsons; and a
special friend, Hugh Shiflett.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in
death by one brother, Ray Lynn Carr; and two sisters, Dorma Flick and Donna Lee.
She was a graduate of Thomas High School with the class of 1938. She was a
homemaker. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church at Hendricks for more
than 30 years, and she attended the Presbyterian Church of Parsons. She enjoyed
ceramics, painting and shopping.

On Dec. 23, 1978, in Parsons, he was married to the former Louise Waybright, who

Otis F. Frymyer
Otis F. Frymyer, 53, a resident of Parsons, passed away Friday morning, July
29, 2005, in Tucker Community Care Center in Parsons.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Sycamore Grove Church at
Bull Run in Tucker County. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the
Sycamore Grove Church with the Rev. Pat Cassidy officiating. Interment will
follow in the Frymyer Cemetery in Parsons. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is

Phyllis L. Fuller
Mrs. Phyllis Louise Whitman Fuller, 77, a resident of 102 David St. in
Belington, departed this life at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005, in Davis
Memorial Hospital in Elkins. She had been in declining health for quite sometime
and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born April 8, 1928, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late Florence
Garlic.
On June 3, 1950, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, she was united in marriage to Earl
Fuller, who survives at their home in Belington.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one brother, Lawrence Whitman of
Richmond, Va.; three grandchildren, Dennis Tallman of Belington, Luke Crock,
U.S. Army stationed in Korea, and Brittney Archibald of Jacksonville, N.C.; and
one great-grandson, Mason Alexander Archibald.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three daughters, Debra
Crock and Vicki Sue Kelley and an infant daughter, Vicky Susan Fuller.
Mrs. Fuller had attended the schools of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, was formerly
employed by A&P Grocery, and attended Sugar Creek United Methodist Church in
Belington.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9
p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, and Sunday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services
will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Destry Daniels and
the Rev. Arden Beck officiating . Interment will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery
at Belington. Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements

Evelyn Faye Furr, 57, a resident of Frank, passed away at 10:19 a.m. Friday, May
6, 2005, in the Davis Memorial Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and

Evelyn F. Furr
Evelyn Faye Tenney Furr, 57, a resident of Frank, went to be with the Lord at
10:19 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, in the Davis Memorial Hospital after a
courageous battle with cancer.
She was born on May 19, 1947, in Hemlock, a daughter of Lawrence and Lydia
Currence Tenney of Mill Creek, who survive.
On Oct. 1, 1972 at Mill Creek, she was married to Gwynne Gorden Furr, who
survives.
Also surviving are one son, Eric Gorden Furr, at home; one daughter, Lisa Dawn
Bennett and husband, Ian, of Dunmore; two sisters, Cathy Gragg and husband,
Bill, of Atwater, Ohio, and Carolyn Lewis and husband, Bob, of Mill Creek; and
five brothers, Michael Tenney and wife, Kathy, of Elkins, David Tenney of Frank,
Thomas Tenney and wife, Lisa, of Elkins, Steven Tenney and wife, Michelle, of
Elkins and Christopher Tenney and wife, Mary, of Clarksburg.
She was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1965 and was
an employee of Howe’s Leather Co. for several years. She also worked as a
caregiver for Pocahontas County Senior Citizens for the past 12 years and
attended the Methodist Church of Blue Rock. She loved working outdoors in her
flowers and vegetable gardens and made wreaths for family and friends. Faye was
a loving wife and mother, a cherished daughter and beloved sister and aunt. She
will remain forever in our hearts.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in
Elkins. On Tuesday, she will be moved to the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church
where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev.
William “Wink” Lanham and the Rev. Tim Turner will officiate and interment
will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Randolph County Unit,
105 Wilson Lane, Elkins, W.Va. 26241. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in
charge of the arrangements for Mrs. Evelyn Faye Tenney Furr. Condolences may be
