Evelyn B. Lahman
Evelyn Beatrice Lahman, 84, of Moorefield and a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home for the past two years, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Davis Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were July 1 at the Fraley Funeral Home in Moorefield. Interment followed in the Lahmansville Cemetery.  From 8 Jul 2004.

Erma G. Lamb
Erma Grace Lamb, 74, a resident of Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs, Elkins, departed this life, Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2004, at the Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health.
She was born Saturday, March 8, 1930, at Parsons, the daughter of the late Delbert Price and Dora Sturms Price.
Surviving are one brother, Harold Price of Warren, Ohio; and two half brothers, Lorren Sturms and Robert Sturms, both of Montrose.
Preceding her in death besides her parents was one sister, Rosalea Price.
She attended the schools of Tucker County and had worked as a waitress.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The Rev. Walter H. Blough will officiate and interment will follow. Harvey “Whitey” Lambert, 90, a resident of Montrose, passed away Thursday morning, July 22, 2004 in the Good Samaritan Center at Belington.

Harvey Lambert
Harvey “Whitey” Lambert, 90, a resident of Montrose, passed away Thursday morning, July 22, 2004, in the Good Samaritan Center at Belington.
He was born Sept. 10, 1913, at Sully, a son of the late Kennison and Lottie Lambert.
In October of 1938, he married Virgie Virginia Hosey, who preceded him in death on Sept. 27, 1993.
He is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ann Canfield and one son-in-law, Harry “Shirley” Canfield of Montrose; three grandsons, William, Paul and James Owens of Montrose; two step-grandchildren, Sue Troike of Amherst, Ohio, and Cheryl Payne of Harrisonburg, Va.; eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Christopher, Sabrina, Lauren and Kaylynn Owens of Montrose, and Megan, Jeremiah and Morgan Owens of Norton; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Eric Osyda of Harrisonburg, Va., and Rene Reilly of Amherst, Ohio.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Elmer Tingler and Otto Lambert.
Mr. Lambert worked as a route salesman for Stroehman Bakery prior to his retirement and was a member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, where he had served on the church choir and the Board of Directors.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jonas Johnson Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leading Creek Fire Department, P.O. Lorren K. Lambert
Lorren Kalar Lambert, 85, of 236 Taylor St., Staunton, Va., died Tuesday, May 11, 2004, in Augusta Medical Center in Fishersville, Va.
Lorren was born Dec. 21, 1918, in Hendricks, the son of the late Bess Kalar Lambert and James Herman Lambert.
Mr. Lambert graduated from Parsons High School in 1936 and West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1940. He was employed by the Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Co. in Newport News, Va., and served in the U.S. Navy and Marines Medical Corp. during World War II.
Lorren was a professional photographer in Parsons until 1946, when he and his father and brother, J. Kenton Lambert, established Parsons Motor Sales. The business was destroyed by fire in 1948, and in 1949 they formed the Lambert Chevrolet Co. This business was operated for 43 years and was a highly respected and successful dealership.
He was married in 1941 in Monterey, Va., to Irene Phyllis Bonner of Clarksburg. They celebrated 63 years of marriage on June 17, 2003.
In addition to his wife, Irene, of Staunton, Va., Mr. Lambert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lorren “Lanny” Lambert II and Elaine Cooperman of Silver Spring, Md., and son and daughter-in-law, Jim and DeDe Lambert of Elkins; and grandchildren, Josh Lambert of Raleigh, N.C., and Lindsay Lambert of West Palm Beach, Fla., and daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lou Manos of Staunton, Va., and grandsons Michael and wife, Summer, of Midlothian, Va., Chris Manos of Richmond, Va., and Andrew Manos of Brooklyn, N.Y. He is also survived by a loving niece, nephews and cousins.
While a resident of Parsons, Lorren was an active member of Parsons Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon, elder and choir member. He was a member of the Tucker County Historical Society, Kiwanis Club and supported many community activities. He was a founding member of the Holly Meadows Country Club and was an avid golfer.
After moving to Staunton in 1996, Mr. Lambert became an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he was honored to serve as president of the Adult Bible Study class.
He was an accomplished and well-known collector of stoneware and antique furnishings. He was a man of many talents and interests and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
The memorial service for Lorren was conducted at the First Presbyterian Church in Staunton, Va., by the Rev. Randy Harrison at 2 p.m. May 15, followed by a reception. At the request of the deceased, the body was cremated. Arrangements for the memorial service were handled by Henry Funeral Home. The family requests that any donations be made to the Parsons Presbyterian Church.  From 18 May 2004.

Oley Lambert
Oley Lambert, 99, a resident of Harman and more recently a patient at the Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Friday evening, Feb. 13, 2004, at the nursing home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Saturday, April 23, 1904, at Wymer, the son of the late Elam Lambert and Francis White Lambert.
On Nov. 21, 1924, at Harman, he was married to the former Annie E. Summerfield, who preceded him in death on Oct. 7, 1963.
Surviving are two sons, Vaxter Lambert and wife, Lillian, of Massillon, Ohio, and Troy Lambert and wife, Helen, of Canton, Ohio; three daughters, Violet Losh of Terra Alta, Annabell Cook of Elkins, and Sheila Armentrout of Fairmont; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were one infant son, Roy Lambert; two brothers, Huey and Luther Lambert; five sisters, Mary and Stella Carr as well as infant triplets; one infant granddaughter and one great-grandson.
He attended the schools of Wymer, was a coal miner and retired from the U.S. Forest Service. He was a Mennonite by faith.

Robert J. “Bob” Lambert, 72, a former resident of the Highland Park community and a resident of 1777 Timber Creek, Apt. 1315, Flower Mount, Texas, for the past two months, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004, in Flower Mount, Texas. He had been in failing health for the past several years, however, death was sudden and unexpected.
Born April 23, 1931, at Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Floyd M. and Hallie J. Coger Lambert.

He was united in marriage to the former Betty Jo Faulkner, who preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 1992.
Surviving are three daughters, Betty Jo Smith of Arlington, Texas, Carol Elliott of Virginia Beach, Va., and Donna Moore of Keller, Texas; one son, Robert M. Lambert of Flower Mount, Texas; one very special and close sister, Anna B. Marco of Highland Park; and one brother, Ronald W.C. Lambert of Brent, Fla.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Dakota Lynn Sherman.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were two brothers, an infant brother and Elwood V. Lambert.
Mr. Lambert was a veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Fort Worth, Texas, State Department of Highways.
Bob was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved gardening and doing anything that required working with his hands.
He attended the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church and was a Baptist by faith.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth, Texas. The Robertson Mueller Harper Funeral Home handled the arrangements. A memorial service for Bob will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Frank Collier of Mill Creek will officiate. All family and friends are welcome to attend the memorial service and fellowship with the family after the service. The F.E. Dollie G. Landis
Dollie Gay Landis, 92, of 346 S. Florida St., Buckhannon, died at 12:50 a.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2004, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
She was born Feb. 28, 1911, in Ten Mile, the daughter of the late Harmon Landis and Elizabeth Cutright Landis.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law, Rosetta Zirkle of Ten Mile.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Delbert Landis, Durin Landis and Sterling Landis; three sisters, Oleta Koon, Velva Miller and Ona Smith; and three half brothers, Austin Zirkle, Elbert Zirkle and Hayward Zirkle.
She was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Friends will be received from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Gary Stackpole will officiate and interment will follow at Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery.  From 10 Jan 2003.

James E. Lane
James Edward Lane, 76, of Rock Cave, died Friday, Dec. 17, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born March 25, 1928 in Upshur County, a son of the late Matthew Hale “Coonce” and Bernice B. Hull Lane.
He was united in marriage July 22, 1951, to Betty June Lane, who survives.
He is also survived by five daughters, Linda Snyder of Cowen, Shirley Cogar of Gaines, Diana Bender of Rock Cave, Delores Littlejohn and Brenda Johnson, both of Summersville; two sons, Larry Edward Lane of Walkersville and Rick Lane of Rock Cave; 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dewayne Lane of Frenchton; four sisters, AnnaBelle Brown and Dixie Hoover, both of Buckhannon, Juanita Wilson of Goshen and Mary Brown of Abbott; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one infant son, James Matthew; one granddaughter, Jamie Lee; and two great-grandchildren.
He was a retired trucker and a Baptist by faith.
Friends will be received today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor David Jessie officiating. Interment will follow in the Chestnut Flat Cemetery. Terry G. Lane
Terry G. Lane, 49, of HC 71, Box 79, Ellamore, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born March 9, 1955, in Buckhannon, the son of Phyllis Corley Lane Neugebauer, who survives in Ellamore, and the late Gayle O. Lane.
Surviving is one sister, Theresa Stencil of Amherst, Ohio.
He was an electrical engineer.

Leonard Lanham
Leonard Lanham, 59, of 113 East Green St., Buckhannon, died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at his home.
He was born May 7, 1944, in Buckhannon, the son of the late Hartzel Lanham and Daisy Kesling Lanham.
On July 5, 1978, he married Betty Lou Harris Lanham, who survives.
Surviving are two sons, Harold Lanham of Tennessee and Doug Lanham of Akron, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy Mollahan of Florida and Penny Andrews of Ravenna, Ohio; one stepson, Kyle Dean of Staunton, Va.; three stepdaughters, Patty of Illinois, Sharon Kay Campbell of Ohio and Peggy Sue McCowan of West Virginia; two brothers, Leo Lanham of Atwater, Ohio, and John Lanham of Atwater, Ohio; three sisters, Emma Gay Laurin of Kalamazoo, Mich., Anna Mae Sneezeburger of Bradenton, Fla., and Madolyn Pisino of Grafton; 10 grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Eddie Lanham, Newton Lanham, Ormal Lanham and Homer Lanham; and three sisters, Bernice Rockwell, Blanch Nicola and Dekota Buckley.
He was a carpenter and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He attended Faith Tabernacle.
He was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge No. 598, Eagles Club, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 1736, Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3663, French Creek Chapter No. 36 Disabled American Veterans and Frank B. Bartlett Post No. 7 American Legion.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Bradford W. Lantz, 54, a resident of Eastlake, Ohio, for 37 years, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.
He was born Oct. 9, 1949, in Ellamore, the son of the late George and Nellie Lantz.
He was married to the former Mary Lou B. Ivec, who survives.
Surviving are four children, Kelly Payton and husband, Ron, Lacey Lantz, Tiffany Lantz and Jeffrey Lantz and wife, Ginger; grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsey, Leanna, David, Hailey and Hannah; sisters, Regina Tenney and husband, Claude, and Marlene Young and husband, John, all of Ellamore, Ilene Malcomb and husband, Ron, of Volga, Ann Norman of Sand Run, and Ramona Zickefoose and husband, Ted, of Buckhannon; brothers, Ronald Lantz and wife, Ruth, of Ludlow, Ky., and Charles Lantz and wife, Margaret, Robert Lantz and wife, Janet, and Eugene Lantz, all of Ellamore.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Kelley and Carolyn Helmick.
He worked 26 years as a truck driver for Mitchell Transport and retired in 1997.
He was a member of Teamsters Local 436 and enjoyed golf and fishing.

Carolyn Rae Lantz, 51, a resident of 18 Goff St., Elkins, and for the last three years, a resident of Alexandria, Va., departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Inova Alexandria Hospital. Carolyn R. Lantz
Carolyn Rae Lantz, 51, a former resident of 18 Goff St., Elkins, and for the last three years, a resident of Springfield, Va., departed this life Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Va. She had been in declining health and her death was attributed to heart complications.
“Carol” was born Oct. 22, 1953, the daughter of the late George Raymond Lantz and Marguerite Duckworth Lantz. Surviving are several cousins, many friends and her beloved pets.
She graduated from Elkins High School in 1970 and went on to attend the University of Florida, Davis & Elkins College and West Virginia University. She earned masters’ degrees in psychology and fine arts and was a member of Mensa International. She was a teacher at several area schools before moving to Northern Virginia. There, her passion for animals and art prompted her to start a pet sitting and grooming business and Free-Lantz Solutions, a design and layout consultant to malls and other businesses. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elkins and was actively involved with several animal shelters fulfilling her life long mission of rescuing animals.

Carrie V. Lantz
Carrie Virginia Wilt Lantz, 93, a resident of 104 Glendale Ave., Elkins, departed this life Thursday morning, Jan. 8, 2004, at the Davis Memorial Hospital Emergency Department. She had been in declining health for the past several years.
She was born Tuesday, Jan. 3, 1911, at Elkins, the daughter of the late John Barton Wilt and Carrie Elizabeth Heed Wilt.
On Oct. 14, 1932, she was married to Joe Taylor Lantz, who preceded her in death on June 8, 1995. Surviving are one son, David Barton Lantz and wife, Nancy, Maryville, Tenn.; two daughters, Marilyn Sue Burch and husband, Isaac, deceased, of Georgetown, S.C., and Linda Jo Cross and husband, Kenneth, of Elkins; one sister, Mary Jane Clark of Elkins; seven grandchildren, Joe Wesley Taylor Burch and wife, Toni, Brian Lee Cross and wife, Jackie, Shannon Marie Gear, Chad Edward Cross and wife, Kendra, Dawn Michele Lantz Riddle and husband, Jason, Michael Butler Lantz and wife, Stacy, and Megan Jean Lantz Feenane and husband, Mike; and six great-grandchildren, Jennifer Susanne Marie Burch, Amiee Caroline Taylor Burch, Emily Taylor Cross, Hanna Katherine Cross, William Kenneth Riddle and Mathew David Riddle.
Mrs. Lantz was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1928, attended Davis and Elkins College and was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University with the class of 1932, where she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.
She was a homemaker, was an active member of the Association of American University Women and the Davis and Elkins College Aid, was a life member of the Woman’s Club of Elkins where she was a member of the Women of Song, and was a member of the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the John Hart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she had been a member of the choir and United Methodist Women, and had served for many years as church organist for which she was honored in 1998.

John Lee Lantz, 75, a resident of 212 Chestnut St., Philippi, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Sunday in the Arbors of Marietta in Ohio.
John was born April 28, 1929, in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late William E. and Edna C. Lantz.
He was twice married, first to Patsy Mayle Lantz, and second to Permilia Mayle Lantz, both of whom preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Dalton of Canton, Ohio; two sons, John D. Lantz of Philippi and Tommy L. Lantz of Canton, Ohio; one sister, Alice Loman of North Carolina; two brothers, Edward Lantz of Philippi and William Lantz of Canton, Ohio; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Susan Perrine.

Myrtle E. Lantz
Myrtle Elizabeth Lantz, 85, of HC 71, Box 7, Franklin, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, in Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She born on May 19, 1919, at Blue Grass, Va., a daughter of the Late Pinckney and Margaret Harper Stone.
On Nov. 10, 1939, she was united in marriage to Vernon Lantz, who survives.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda Painter and husband, Stanley, of Elkins; three granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, her twin, Murrell Stone, Ivan Stone and Clarence Stone; and by one sister, Geneva Stone.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Susie Echols officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Franklin. Samuel W. Lantz
Samuel W. Lantz, 83, of Durbin, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004.
Mr. Lantz was born Oct. 16, 1920, to the late Samuel P. and Melissa White Lantz.
He was a member of the Durbin Church of the Brethren, worked for 47 years for Howes Leather Co. and worked for CC’s.
Samuel was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved to cut wood. He was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Curry Lantz, in 2002; eight sisters, Maggie Stewart, Texie Slaven, Ethel Rexrode, Etrula “Kute” Hoover, Mae Stackpole, Grace Kisner, Eva Potter and Ealisle Armentrout; and one brother, Bill Bolton.
Surviving are three daughters, Patty Greathouse and husband, Bud, of Durbin, Frances Greathouse of Durbin and the late Dale Greathouse, and Karen Collins and husband, Arthur, of Bartow; two sons, Woody Lantz and wife, Joan of Durbin, and Leon Lantz and wife, Bev, of Wheeling; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale where funeral services were at 11 a.m. today. The Rev. David Rittenhouse and the Rev. Donnie Curry officiated and interment followed in Gum Cemetery with military graveside rites.  From 18 Oct 2004.

Eva Lavoie
Eva Lavoie, 94, of Paula’s Personal Care Home in Buckhannon, died Tuesday, March 2, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born Jan. 17, 1910, in Century No. 1, Barbour County, the daughter of the late Odus C. and Martha Ann Crites Marteney.
On May 21, 1949, she married Wilford A. Lavoie, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1987.
Surviving are two sisters, Virginia M. Vaught of Buckhannon and Annabelle M. Cruise of Culloden; one brother-in-law, Denny J. Cruise of Culloden; nephews and nieces of three generations; and a special friend/foster daughter, Armagh Cassil of San Francisco, Calif.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Joseph Marteney, Charles Walton Marteney and David Marteney; one sister, Mary Lou Miller Harrison; and one sister-in-law, Effie Marteney.
She was a homemaker and previously employed as a secretary at Weston State Hospital and the West Virginia Industrial School for Girls at Salem.
In the early 1940s she was employed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhannon where she served as church clerk for 19 years.
She was a member and past president of the American Baptist Women and the Fred Brooks Garden Club.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Tomblyn-Whitescarver Funeral Chapel where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Robert O. Leeson
Robert O. Leeson, 78, a resident of 1 Turkey Run Road, Buckhannon, died on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
He was born Jan. 1, 1926, in Clarksburg, the son of the late Garland J. Leeson and Margaret Frances Auskings Leeson.
He was married to Agnes Lewis Leeson, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Carla L. Gilmartin of O’Fallon, Mo., Stephanie L. Muncy of Bowling Green, Ohio, Roberta J. Lynch of Buckhannon and Patricia Leeson Scriba of Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was a used car salesman, a teacher, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. He was a member of the the Vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Weston.
Friends will be received today from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Inc. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration with the Rev. V.W. “Spike” Lesure, 80, of Masonic Village at Elizabethtown, formerly of Buckhannon, died Sunday, May 2, 2004.
He was the son of the late John W. and Ada Lee DeBarr Lesure.

Cynthia Anne Bayless Lewis, 32, of Moncks Corner, S.C., died Monday, May 3, 2004, at a Charleston, S.C., hospital.
Mrs. Lewis was born May 5, 1971, in Charleston County, S.C., the daughter of Terry Bayless Sr. of Meridian, Idaho, and Denna Ware Bayless of Buckhannon.
Surviving are her husband, Sydney Lewis III and two sons, Sydney Lewis IV and David Lewis, all of Moncks Corner, S.C.; two sisters, Mary Killingsworth of San Antonio, Texas, and Carol Bayless of Fairmont; one brother, Terry M. Bayless Jr.; and a special close friend, Anthony Gibson of Summerville, S.C.
She was a transportation courier.

Evelyn Rohr Lewis, 82, of Route 3, Box 360A, Buckhannon, died Saturday, March 20, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Feb. 14, 1922, in Upshur County, the daughter of the late Homer P. Rohr and Gertrude Simon Rohr.
Her husband, A.R. “Babe” Lewis, preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, Neal Rohr of Buckhannon; one sister, Oleta Martin of Bridgeport; one grandson, Jeff W. Rohr of Richmond, Va.; three granddaughters, Michele Molyneaux, of Chandler, Ariz., Heather Riser of Charleston and Suzanna Rohr of Tucson, Ariz.; three great-grandsons, Taj Rohr of Walker, and Eric Rohr and Matthew Rohr, both of Richmond, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Abigail Riser of Charleston; and one niece, Charolotte Clonch of Morgantown.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Rohr; and one sister, Retha Rohr.
Mrs. Lewis was a beautician and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

Gail Wilfong Lewis, 81, of 7 Gum St., Buckhannon, died Thursday, July 15, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born Feb. 10, 1923, in Randolph County, the daughter of the late William Wilfong and Edna Thomason Wilfong.
On Aug. 24, 1947, she was married to the Rev. Lejeune Lewis, who survives.
Surviving are one son, David Lewis and wife, Pam, of Eleanor; one daughter, Barbara Smith and husband, Gregg, of Meadowville; one sister, Virginia Scott of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Michelle Lewis of Huntington; two grandsons, Davey Califf of Orwigsburg, Pa., and Stephen Lewis of Fairmont; stepgranddaughters, Micah and Jody Moore of Red House, Lauren Smith of Elkins, Christina Smith of Elkins; one stepgrandson, Todd and Barbie Slack of Charleston; two great-granddaughters, Makayla Smith of Columbus, Ohio, and Hailey Califf of Orwigsburg, Pa.; two stepgreat-grandsons, Jace Slack and Zander Slack, both of Charleston; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Josie Moore of Red House; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Dove Bonner, Laura Cutright, Viola Cutright and Nettie Simms; and three brothers, Cecil Wilfong, Laco Wilfong and Martin Wilfong.
She was a homemaker and a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Buckhannon and the United Methodist Women.

Heather Andress Lewis, 17, of French Creek, the Abbott community died Oct. 25, 2004, at her home.
She was born Sept. 13, 1987, in Buckhannon, a daughter of David William and Bonnie Lou Cain Lewis.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her sister, Holly Megan Lewis, French Creek; her paternal grandmother, Mary Lavone Lewis, Morgantown; aunts and uncles, Scottland and Vickie Clark, Morgantown, David and Charlotte Tenney, Morgantown, Steve and Karen Shaffner, Warsaw, Ind., Danny and Sue Lewis, Morgantown, and Johnny and Rhonda Lewis, Morgnatown; and several cousins.

She was a junior at Buckhannon-Upshur High School, where she was a member of the Christian Fellowship Group and also a member of the Buckhannon-Upshur High School Girls Softball Team. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating and waterskiing. She attended the Independent United Brethren Church.

William Liggett
William Liggett, 73, a resident of 225 Evergreen Drive, Elkins, passed away Wednesday evening, May 19, 2004, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

William H. Liggett
William Hunter Liggett, 73, a resident of 225 Evergreen Drive, Elkins, passed away Wednesday evening, May 19, 2004, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 9, 1931, in Elkins, the son of the late Dr. Bayard Lee Liggett and Gatewood Preston Cameron Liggett.
He was married three times, first to Rosemarie Liggett and later to Maureen Liggett. On June 10, 1989, he was married to Delores June Weese Lewis, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving is one son, William Hunter Liggett Jr., of Nashville, Tenn.; and one daughter, Mary Lee Liggett of Florida. Also surviving are stepchildren, Libby Healy, Sonny Lewis, Gail Armstrong, Kathy Chabut, Brooks Lewis, Steve Lewis and Martha Lewis. One granddaughter, Alexandra, and one grandson, Benjamin, 12 stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Liggett was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School with the class of 1949 as class valedictorian.
He graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., in 1953 with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering.
He served four years in the U. S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957, with two of these years served in Japan with Headquarters Fifth Air Force in Nagoya.
He was employed in the capacity of management with United States Steel in Pittsburgh, Pa., for 13 years and as management consultant for Alexander Proudfoot Co. for two years, 1969–1971, and as plant manager for two plastic moulding companies in Illinois and Arkansas for a total of five years.
He returned to West Virginia in 1976 and was employed at the Huttonsville Correctional Center as machine shop instructor from April 1976 until May 10, 1996.
Mr. Liggett was a member of the Tygart Valley Presbyterian Church in Huttonsville and Randolph Lodge No. 55 AF & AM of Beverly. He was an active member of the Pontiac Automobile Club.

William B. Light, 78, of 25 Tucker St., Buckhannon, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
He was born June 13, 1926, in Giles, the son of the late Israel Ray Light and Margaret Dorothy Long Light.
On May 25, 1957, he was married to Heloise M. “Peg” Carr Light, who died on June 3, 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Ann Reel and husband, Richard, of Buckhannon and Kay Davidson and husband, Keith, of Laurel, Md.; three sons, James Light of Buckhannon, Kevin Light and wife, Cheryl, of Evans, Ga., and Tom Light of Charleston; one brother, Richard J. Light of Jane Lew; four granddaughters, Diana Davidson of Laurel, Md., Jonnie Light of Buckhannon, Jennifer Hyre of Buckhannon and Angela Reel of Bridgeport; three grandsons, Bill Light of Asheboro, N.C., Jacob Hyre of Buckhannon and Bradley Davidson of Laurel, Md.; and two great-grandsons, Dillon Light of Asheboro, N.C., and Jaydin Perrine of Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Eckess.
He was the transportation director of the Upshur County Board of Education and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 363, Frank B. Bartlett American Legion Post 7, and the WVSSPA and AARP.

Norman Lindsay
Norman J. Lewis Lindsay, 76, a resident of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2004, after a long illness.
Born in 1928 at Valley Bend, he was the son of the late John W. and Icia E. Summerfield Lindsay.
Mr. Lindsay was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He lived most of his life in the Akron, Ohio, area and retired from Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, Ohio, in 1988.
He was a member of the Beverly Masonic Lodge Randolph Lodge 55.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, the former Marilyn Shears, formerly of East Dailey. Also surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Connie Lindsay and Jeff and Marsha Lindsay, one daughter, Dari Sue Lindsay, and two grandsons, Michael and Jonathan, all of the Akron, Ohio area.
Norman is also survived by one brother, Bud Lindsay of Valley Bend; three sisters, Velma Collins and husband, Elster, of Barberton, Ohio, Bernice Bennett of Valley Bend and Patty Piercy and husband, Charles, of Kingmont. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald Linsday; an infant brother, Thomas; and two sisters, Elsie and Margaret.
Norman will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Honoring the requests of the deceased, his remains were cremated and no services were conducted. Interment of the cremains will follow at a later date in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Robert L. Lindsay Jr.
Robert Lee Lindsay Jr., 30, a resident of Valley Head, passed away at 3:30 a.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Aug. 8, 1973, in Elkins, the son of Robert Lee Lindsay Sr. and Shirley Channell Lindsay of Valley Head.
Also surviving is his maternal grandmother, Sarah Ann Channell of Valley Bend; paternal grandmother, Lola Pearl Hamrick of Valley Head; and one sister, Angela Simmons of Valley Head. Seven uncles, 10 aunts and a special niece, Sarah Simmons, also survive.
Robert was a 1992 graduate of Tygarts Valley High School and was employed as a machine operator for Bruce Hardwood. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his niece.
He attended Point Mountain Union Mission Church.

Margaret Frances Craft Linger died Thursday, Aug. 5, 2004, at the home of her daughter, JoAnne Parks, in Fairmont.
She was born Jan. 31, 1920, in Weston, the daughter of the late William Martin and Margaret Frances Hickey Craft.
She is survived by one brother, Lester Adams of New York, N.Y.; six daughters, Linda Fletcher of Buckhannon, Wilma Kay Bennett and fiance, Ronald McCrea, of Newport News, Va., Paulette and husband, John Shipman, of Buckhannon, JoAnne and husband, Michael Parks of Fairmont; Vera White and fiance, Roy Farley, of Buckhannon, and Wanda and Donna Musgrove of Fairmont; two sons, James Andrew and wife, Diane Linger, of Yorktown, Va., and Jackie Edward Linger of Martinsburg; 29 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Everett Linger, whom she married Jan. 13, 1938; two sons, William Dale Linger and Darius Wayne Linger; one daughter, Margaret Ellen Linger Tenney; two grandsons and one great-grandson.
Mrs. Linger was a homemaker and was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Buckhannon.

Maude Virginia Linger, 91, of HC 61, Box 16, Coalton, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs.
She was born Aug. 15, 1913, at Three Lick Road, a daughter of the late James Benton and Nancy Ann Lance.
On May 9, 1930, she married Richard Lincoln Linger, who preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 1960.
Surviving are one son, Oden Lee and Irene Linger, Colonial Beach, Va.; four grandsons, Roger Lee and Anna Linger, Sunderland, Md., Steven Michael and Veronica Linger, Waldorf, Md., Richard Daniel Linger, Gaithersburg, Md., and William Oden Linger, Waldorf, Md.; one granddaughter, Debra O’Denise and Terry Fullam, Edgewater, Md.; 13 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Hartzel Abraham Lance; and one great-grandson, Matthew William Linger.
She was a homemaker. She attended schools in Upshur County, West Virginia Wesleyan College and graduated from West Virginia Business School in Clarksburg. She was a life long member of the Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and well known in Buckhannon. She worked at GC Murphy’s, WVWC as a dorm mother and the Buckhannon Senior Center. Prior to going to Nella’s Nursing Home, she resided for six years with a wonderful caregiver, Joyce Bender.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Carus Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery.  From 30 Oct 2004. 

Verma K. Linger
Verma K. Linger, 90, of 208 Creek Forest, Greenville, S.C., died Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at St. Francis Hospital in Greenville.
She was born Dec. 21, 1913, in Queens, the daughter of the late Granville Marple Koon and Minnie Corder Findley Koon.
She is survived by her husband, Henry James Linger.
Surviving are one daughter, Eloise Lavonne Linger of Elmhurst, N.Y.; one son, James Allen Linger of Taylors, S.C.; and two granddaughters, Nabeel Saad and Pamela Roberts.
She was a member of the Greenville Rebekah Lodge No. 7 IOOF, where she served as chaplain for five years and had served as state chaplain for two years for the South Carolina Rebekah Assembly. She was also a member of the Baltimore No. 3 Auxiliary Patriarch Militant IOOF and the Pelham Road Baptist Church.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Deacon Terry Koon will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Tallmansville.  From 31 Mar 2004.

Elsie Lipscomb
Elsie Virginia Summerfield Lipscomb, 79, of Augusta, died Friday, June 18, 2004, in Winchester Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health and death was contributed to a stroke and heart attack.
She was born Jan. 17, 1925, in Tucker County, the daughter of the late Donald Summerfield and Lottie Rhodes Summerfield.
She was married to Lonnie Lipscomb, who survives in Augusta.
Also surviving are one daughter, Daisy Throw, of Florida; two sons, Lonnie Junior of Augusta and Terry Lee of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Vanessa Lipscomb of Augusta and David Throw of Florida; two sisters, Sarah Nestor of Parsons and Bonnie Hartpance of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Walter Long, Jim Summerfield and Cecil Summerfield; four sisters, Inis Roy, Susie Teter, Ellie Summerfield and Annie Summerfield.
The deceased was cremated at her request and graveside services will be at noon Saturday at Parsons Cemetery.  From 12 Jul 2004.

Jack Lipscomb
Jack Lipscomb, 81, a resident of Rowlesburg, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 4, 2004, at the home of his daughter, Barbara Johnson of St. George. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born May 22, 1923, at Location, St. George, the son of the late Alexander and Anna Pifer Lipscomb.
On April 1, 1948, in Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Glenda Mae Bennett, who preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2003.
Surviving are one son, Charles Lipscomb of Etam; three daughters, Barbara Johnson and husband, James, of St. George, Vickie Jones and husband, Elmer, and Betty Ridenour and husband, Bob, all of Etam; one brother, Lee Lipscomb and wife, Betty, of Thomas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Bert Lipscomb; three sisters, Vern Wotring, Sara Carrico and Cora Moats; and one infant grandchild.
He attended school at Leadmine. He served during World War II with the U.S. Army and received numerous medals and ribbons.
He was a sawyer for various timber companies. He was a Protestant by faith.

Etta J. Curtis Liston, 87, of Buckhannon, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home. Before entering Holbrook’s, she resided among family and friends at 175 Camden Ave., Buckhannon.
She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Buckhannon, the daughter of the late Clinton A. and Etta J. Strader Curtis.
She was united in marriage Jan. 13, 1940, to Lenny Liston, who died in 1979.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ann Liston Long and her husband, Burl, of Buckhannon; three grandchildren, Rebecca Long Walton and her husband, Michael, of Buckhannon, Christopher Long and his wife, Stephanie, of Buckhannon, and Bethany Long of Buckhannon; three great-grandchildren, Justin Michael Walton, Catherine “Catie” Walton and Hannah Brooke Walton, all of Buckhannon; one brother-in-law, Burton Phillips of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard Curtis, Everett “Bill” Curtis, Marlin “Preach” Curtis and Olin Curtis; and one sister, Loreen Curtis Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for Liston’s Garage, which she and her husband owned and operated. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and worked as a volunteer in several organizations as a lifelong member of her community. She enjoyed gardening and fellowship with family and friends.
She was a Methodist by faith and was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel in Tennerton from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at the funeral chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Robert N. Lloyd
Robert Neal Lloyd, 66, of Franklin, N.C., died Saturday, May 8, 2004, in an Asheville, N.C., hospital.
A native of Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Oscar Nyle Lloyd and Edith Currence Lloyd. He was preceded in death by two brothers, William Nyle Lloyd and John Ickes. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and was a salesman for Parts Associates, Inc. Robert was an active member and deacon of Mount Hope Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason in Summersville, W.Va.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Donna King Lloyd; two children, Janet Lloyd and her companion, Jim Wilson, of Candler, N.C., and Melissa Gladden and her husband, Ed, of Waynesville, N.C.; one sister, Linda Light of Mill Creek; three grandchildren, Brandon, Cassie and Jamie, all of Candler, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. today in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The Rev. Wiley Gibson, the Rev. Steve Reeves and the Rev. Roy Lowe will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery.

Betty L. Loftis
Betty L. Loftis, 62, a resident of Sylvester Drive, Elkins, passed away at 4:45 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 17, 1942 in Elkins, a daughter of Wilson Grant and Alfreda Byrd Gray, both of whom survive in Elkins.
On April 7, 1961 at Montrose, she was married to Jackie Delmar Loftis, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Jeffery Loftis of Harman, Jerry Loftis and wife, Bernice, of Guam, Paul Loftis of San Jose, Calif., and John Loftis and wife, Delia, of Elkins; one brother, Paul Gray; and four grandchildren, Christopher, Gregory, Leandra and Blake Loftis.
Preceding her in death was one sister, Judy Hedrick.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School. She worked for many years as a medical secretary at the Memorial General Hospital, Davis Memorial Hospital and the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. She was a member of the Elkins Purple Majesty’s Chapter of the Red Hat Society, Randolph Rebekah Lodge 200 of Elkins and the Community Education Outreach Service Elkins Learners. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Elkins and a deacon of the church.

Jack R. Logar
Jack Robert Logar, 69, a resident of the Monterville community, passed away at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2004, in Davis Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for the past four days. He had been in failing health for the past six months and death was attributed to cancer.
Born Oct. 11, 1934, in Coketon, he was the son of the late Joe and Violet Williams Logar.
Jack is survived by a close companion of 11 years, Eve Arbogast of Valley Head; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Logar and wife, Jessica, of Jane Lew and Robert Logar and wife, Angela, of Monterville; one sister, Betty Logar of Monterville; and two brothers, Albert Logar and wife, Patty, of Craigsville and William Logar and wife, Louise, of Oklahoma.
Also surviving is one granddaughter, Vanessa R. Logar of Monterville, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Jack was well-known throughout West Virginia and Ohio for his humor and country guitar picking. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were one sister, Helen “Babe” Logar and one brother, Joe Logar.
He was a machinist for 38 years and was employed by Harris Calarific Co. and Hansen Manufacturing Co. in Cleveland, Ohio, before retiring.
He was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Butch Paugh will officiate and interment will follow in the Swecker Cemetery at Brady Gate. At the request of the deceased, the casket will remain closed. The H.W. David A. Long
David Andrew Long, 51, of Huntington, died Saturday, July 10, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Huntington.
He was born Dec. 11, 1952, in Ambridge, Pa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Maxine Fitzgerald Long. He is survived by his parents, Andrew Dixon and Juanita Wilfong Long of Gaines.
Also surviving are one son, Andy Long of the Mt. Union community, Buckhannon; three sisters, Karen Hawkins of Greenville, S.C., Wanda Collins of Mt. Clare and Sarah Sanders of Rock Cave; one brother, Charles Pringle of French Creek; eight uncles; six aunts and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one aunt.
He was a carpenter and served on a submarine with the U.S. Navy.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Salem United Methodist Church at Gaines. The Rev. James C. Loudin
James C. “Pap” Loudin, 95, a resident of Atwater, Ohio, formerly of French Creek, died Monday, May 17, 2004, in Tallmadge, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 18, 1908, in French Creek, the son of the late Owen and Ora Loudin.
His wife, Rhetta Burr Loudin, whom he married in 1928, passed away July 7, 1984.
Surviving are three sons, Kyle Loudin and wife, Jackie, of Alliance, Ohio, Gerald Loudin and wife, Gretchen, of Deerfield, Ohio, and James Loudin and wife, Nancy, of Atwater, Ohio; two daughters, Naomi Wise and husband, Chester, of Atwater, Ohio, and Janet Fleisher of Delray Beach, Fla.; 24 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanneta Woodford and husband, Bill, of Frankfort, Ohio; one daughter-in-law, Doris Kellum of Maysville, N.C.; and a companion, Shirley Mellott of Atwater, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Carlos, Clovis, Brink, Davis, John and George Loudin; four sisters, Roma Hughlett, Mona Potts, Zeta Hurst and Joy Pogorzelski; two sons, Paul Loudin and Dale Loudin, who died in Vietnam in 1967; one daughter-in-law, Jackie Loudin; one son-in-law, Chester Wise; and four grandchildren.
He owned and operated his own coal-mining business in French Creek before moving to Atwater, Ohio. He retired from United Co-Op of Alliance, but he and his wife continued to operate their family-owned businesses, R&J Pizza, for many years.
He was a longtime member of Atwater Church of the Nazarene.
Services will be at Laurel Fork Church in French Creek at 2 p.m. today with burial following in Laurel Fork Cemetery. Pauline R. Lowther
Pauline Ruth Lowther, 87, of HC 78, Rock Cave, died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born May 29, 1916, the daughter of the late Harmon Wesley and Algie Nora Gay Anderson Hinkle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Glenn Lowther.
She is survived by three daughters, Karen Whiting of Columbus, Ohio, Helen Bunner and husband, Tom, of Rock Cave and Elaine Waugaman and husband, Jerry, of Rock Cave; five grandchildren, Rose Tring of Phoenix, Ariz., Steve Hutchison of Columbus, Ohio, the Rev. Tom Bunner Jr. of Wake Forest, N.C., Kelly Spencer of Brentwood, Tenn., and Jerry Waugaman Jr. of Rock Cave; five great-grandchildren, Nicholas Tring, Ashley Hutchison, Zachary Bunner, Joseph Bunner and Garavin Posey; one brother, Walter Hinkle of Hacker Valley; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Irma Simmons and Margie Adams.
Mrs. Lowther was the owner and operated of the Hilltop Grocery Store at Selbyville with her husband for 25 years.
She was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge.
Mrs. Lowther was a member of the Pleasant Dale United Methodist Church at Selbyville.

Jennings E. Loudin
Jennings Eugene "Jerry" Loudin, 61, of Plum Run community, Mannington, died Thursday, April 8, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 14, 1942, in Randolph County, the son of the late Ray and Marie Sturm Loudin.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Vonda Fluharty Loudin; two daughters, Marie Collins of Mt. Clare and Becky Loudin of Shinnston; three stepchildren, Shelley Hopple of Sunbury, Pa., Jeanette Stevens of Fairmont and William Eddy of Fairmont; seven grandchildren, Emily Eddy, Megan Collins, Marissa Collins, Bobby Stevens IV, Joshua Stevens, Sydney Eddy and Courtney Eddy; and eight brothers and sisters, John Loudin of Theodore, Ala., Betty Kirkpatrick of Charleston, Margaret Ann Miller of Sebastian, Fla., Mary Lou Daniels of Flemington, Fla., Sara Hinkle of Elkins, Bill Loudin of New Carlisle, Ohio, Judy Hedrick of Salem, Ohio, and Danny Loudin of Norton.
He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Matthew Blake Eddy; two brothers, Jim Loudin and Bobby Jo Loudin; and one infant sister, Nancy Loudin.
The Rev. Loudin was a minister and was ordained at Duke University. He served as a Methodist minister in Lewis County, Mannington and Logansport. He then served as the minister of the Plum Run Baptist Church. He became an independent minister serving the Messiah’s Mission in Mannington until his health no longer permitted it.
He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War and served two tours of duty.
He was employed at Jennings Gum as a heavy equipment operator and also for Barber Coal Co. for several years. He worked for the West Virginia Department of Highways and served as a deputy sheriff in Lewis County from 1969-71.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Randolph County. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and telling jokes. He loved to be around people.
Friends may call at the Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 2 p.m.to 9 p.m. Saturday and on Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday officiated by Ron Ashcraft. Hiram F. Loughry
Hiram Frank “P.I.” Loughry, 63, of Thomas, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 20, 1940, in St. George, the son of the late Hiram Frank Loughry Sr. and Della Faye Knight Loughry. He was raised by Carl and Margaret Perkins.
On June 14, 1987, he married Sandra Kay Vance, who survives in Thomas.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Junior Loughry, Samuel Leroy Siple and Clifford Lester Loughry; and two sisters, Laura Fay Carr and Lena Grace Rogers.
Mr. Loughry was a member of the Twin City Fellowship Church of Thomas.
Friends will be received at the Twin City Fellowship Church in Thomas from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be at the church at 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jim Strahin officiating. Vernon W. Louk
Vernon Wayne Louk, 68, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Saturday, March 13, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 8, 1935, in Kerens, the son of William Howard and Nora Bennett Louk.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Louk of Zephyrhills; three sons, Wayne Louk of Bridgeport, Brad Elbon of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and William Louk of Fort Campbell, Ky.; three daughters, Vickie Rogers of Clintonville, Wisc., Deborah Louk of Buckhannon and Lynn Gussman of Kernersville, N.C.; one granddaughter, Kayla; and three brothers, Bonnie Ralph Louk of Garretsville, Ohio, Russell Louk of Buckhannon and James Louk of Nutter Fort.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Boyd Louk.
He went to Zephyrhills in 1997 from Fairmont. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in Korea. He worked as a chemical operator and retired from Union Carbide. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Whitfield Funeral Home Chapel in Zephyrhills, Fla., with the Rev. Frank Cahill officiating. Interment will be at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell at a later date.  From 17 Mar 2004.

William R. Lowe
William Ralph Lowe, 88, a resident of 1494 Shady Grove Road, Clarksville, Tenn., died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville, Tenn.
He was born Jan. 2, 1916, in Buckhannon, the son of the late Albert Claude Lowe and Teresa Mae Lowe.
He was married to Reatha Olena Lowe, who preceded him in death on Sept. 26, 2003.
Surviving are one son, Jim Lowe and wife, Paulette, of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sisters, Alma Eugenia Ross of Sharpsburg, Pa., and Phyllis Irene Miller of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandsons, Steve Lowe and Scott Lowe, both of Clarksville, Tenn.; one granddaughter, Amy Lowe of Clarksville, Tenn.; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Lowe of Clarksville, Tenn.; and one great-grandson, Matt Lowe of Clarksville, Tenn.
He was a retired carpenter and cabinetmaker. He was a veteran of World War II and served with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Buckhannon and the Knights of Pythias. He was also a Mason and held membership in the Franklin Lodge 7 AF & AM of Buckhannon and an honorary membership in Clarksville Lodge 89 AF & AM of Clarksville, Tenn.
Friends will be received from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Richard McGuire will officiate and interment will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.   From 24 Aug 2004.

Darlene A. Lucas
Darlene Ann Lucas, 55, a resident of Helvetia, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2004, in Davis Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born March 10, 1949, in Helvetia, the daughter of the late Nelson Sutton and Juanita Conrad Sutton of Harrisonburg, Va.
Surviving are her significant other, Randy Conrad of Helvetia; her stepmother, Fran Sutton of Canton, Ohio; two sons, Rusty Lucas and wife, Kathy, of Alledonia, Ohio, and Shannon Lucas and wife, Dianne, of Beallsville, Ohio; six sisters, Violet Slagle and Wendy McElroy, both of Canton, Ohio, Doris Halpin and husband, Jay, of Germany, Roberta Wilmore and husband, Ron, Lena Shackleford and husband, Howard, and Marilyn Noethlich and husband, Dan, all of Virginia; and four grandchildren, Eric, Derek, Luke and Lacey Lucas.
Darlene was the librarian at the Helvetia Public Library at the time of her illness.
She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church at Helvetia and was active in Helvetia community affairs.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Saturday, Darlene will be moved to the Zion Presbyterian Church in Helvetia for visitation from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Harriet Ludlow
Harriet Louise Spruance Ludlow, of Buckhannon, died in her home on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004.
She was born June 23, 1907, in Smyrma, Del., the daughter of Edgar and Lillian Evans Spruance.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lott H. Ludlow. She was a resident of Felton, Del., for 45 years before moving to Buckhannon in 1982.
She is survived by her son, Samuel S. Ludlow and wife, Ann, of Tallmansville; two daughters, Charlott S. Holck and husband, Bert, of Landenberg, Pa., and Nancy L. Seitz and husband, Frank, of Beachwood, N.J.; six grandchildren, Bill, Robert, Lorinda, Frank, Cecilia and Rachel; nine great-grandchildren and her nephews, Robert Schabinger of Buckhannon and Edward Schabinger of Middletown, Del.
Louise graduated from Chester County School of Nursing in West Chester, Pa., in 1929, and the Columbia School of Public Health at Columbia University in New York, N.Y., in 1933. She worked in Delaware for many years as a public health nurse and then as the Felton High School librarian.
Since she moved to Buckhannon, she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Buckhannon, the Woman’s Club of Buckhannon, the Upshur County Extension Homemakers and a volunteer at the Upshur County Public Library.
She touched the lives of many people and will be missed by all that knew her.
Memorial services will be at the First United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Saturday. Donations may be made to the Upshur County Public Library or First United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  From 15 Oct 2004. 

Marshall Ludwick Sr.
Marshall G. Ludwick Sr., 69, of North Perry, Ohio, died Aug. 5, 2004, at Cardinal Woods Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, Ohio.
Born Jan. 30, 1935, in St. George, he was a 50-year resident of North Perry.
He was a Fraternal Order of Eagles Golden Eagle member. He enjoyed hunting and sports and coached Little League and Pony League baseball. He liked to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Ludwick was employed as a towmotor operator at Avery Dennison for 25 years. He also worked for 19 years at IRC Fibers.
He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly Jean Sohayda, whom he married March 14, 1955, in Oakland, Md.; one daughter, Karen Metz of Perry, Ohio; three sons, George Ludwick of Madison, Ohio, Don Ludwick of Painesville, Ohio, and Ken Ludwick of Centerburg, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Miller of Painesville, Ohio, and Donna K. Rosier of St. George; and one brother, Harold Ludwick of Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Plum and Charles Godfrey Ludwick; three sisters, Artheia McKnight, Opal Keener and Elva Herman; and two brothers, Arthur and Kenneth Ludwick.
Funeral services were Aug. 9 at the Behm Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Interment was at Perry Cemetery.  From 21 Aug 2004.

Rose E. Lulos
Rose Ethel Torjak Lulos, 78, a resident of Buckhannon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at her home.
She was born Nov. 3, 1926, at Despard, Tin Plate, a community in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late George Yoachim and Julia Ann Slinszky Torjak, both from Hungary.
On June 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to George Spiros Lulos Sr., who preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by one son, George S. Lulos Jr. and wife, Rosemary Stiffler Lulos, of Johnstown, Pa.; two daughters, Julianne Rose Petersen and husband, Jeff Petersen, of Gowrie, Iowa, and Michelle Marie Livingston and husband, Gary Livingston, of Townsend, Mass.; four granddaughters, Jessica Lulos of Elkridge, Md., and Natalie, Kathleen and Suzanne Petersen, all of Gowrie, Iowa; and three grandsons, Jason Lulos of Indiana, Pa., Thomas Petersen of Gowrie, Iowa, and Ethan Livingston of Townsend, Mass.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister, Louis Torjak, Alexander Torjak, George Y. Torjak Jr., John Torjak and Rudolph Francis Torjak. His brothers, Rudolph Torjak and Andrew Torjak, and his sister, Roaslia Torjak died at very young ages.
She graduated from Victory High School in Clarksburg in 1943. She then worked for the Underwood Typewriter Co. and later at the Hazel Atlas Glass Co., both in Clarksburg. She worked with her husband as co-owner and operator of the Liberty Lunch Restaurant in Buckhannon from 1968 to 1975. She was an active member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. For years, she was in the Ministry of Praise. She enjoyed reading biographies, cooking, volunteering to work for church luncheons and other functions, crocheting, sewing and crafts. She enjoyed dinner out, shopping and really enjoyed being with her family and friends.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Fr. McCafferty as celebrant. Burial will follow at Heavner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 2428 Kanawha Blvd., E., Charleston, W.Va. 25311 or The Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 35 Franklin St., Buckhannon, W.Va. 26291. Lewis E. Lyle
Lewis E. Lyle, 89, of Miami Beach, Fla., passed away Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at South Shore Hospital in Miami Beach, Fla.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Arbovale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale.  From 16 Aug 2004.

Morgan H. Lyons Sr.
Morgan H. “Buck” Lyons Sr., 87, a resident of 402 Locust Ave., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Sept. 23, 1917, in Lake Lynn, Pa., a son of the late Emmett F. and Martha Ellen Spiker Lyons.
He was united in marriage Dec. 24, 1944, to the former Hilda Ann Stemple, who survives.
Also surviving are, two sons and daughters-in-law, Morgan H. Lyons Jr. and wife, Beverly, a cardiologist of Morgantown, and Kevin A. Lyons and wife, Gretchen, a businessman of Philippi; six grandchildren, Christopher M. Lyons of Morgantown, Aaron N. Lyons of Boulder, Colo., Dara C. Lyons of Philippi, Haley N. Lyons, Olivia R. Lyons and Logan M. Lyons, all of Philippi; and three sisters, Rosella Haught of Lake Lynn, Pa., Edna Jenkins of Richeyville, Pa., and Dorothy Miller of Smithfield, Pa.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Sethman, Bess Townsend and Kathryn Christopher; and two brothers, Clarence Lyons and Bernard Lyons.
He was a graduate of Georges Township High School in Pennsylvania. He was an active member of the Philippi United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Bigelow Lodge 52 AF & AM, 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, held life membership in the Osiris Temple, AAONMS, Wheeling, a member of Philippi Chapter 41 OES and a 60-year member of Point Marion, Pa. IOOF Lodge. He served many terms as president of the Barbour County Country Club, was a former trustee and is a member of the Board of Governors of Alderson-Broaddus College, a charter member and director emeritus of Barbour County Bank, and served on the advisory board of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center.
After returning from the military service in World War II, he worked in surface mining. In 1955, he became owner-operator of McCoy Brothers Inc. He was very active in the community. Examples of his numerous contributions include past president of the Philippi Airport Authority, member of the Philippi Building Commission and fund-raising chairman for “New Main” at A-B College. He was a devoted husband and father as well as an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and until 1 p.m. Monday, the service hour. The Dr. Dan Unger and the Rev. Gary Rapking will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with the American Legion Post 44 conducting military rites. Wright Funeral Home services.  From 24 Dec 2004.
