Raymond L. Fair, 76, a resident of the Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins, passed away at 4:05 a.m. today, June 17, 2004.

Elkins Attorney Raymond Fair Dies at 76
Longtime Elkins attorney and community leader Raymond L. Fair, 76, a resident of the Chenoweth Creek Road, passed away at 4:05 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 2004, following a brief illness.
He was born June 26, 1927, in Brooke County, a son of the late Ellis P. and E. Ruth Stansberry Fair. He served in both the Merchant Marines and the U.S. Army during World War II.
On January 28, 1951, he was married to the former Jane Perry Teter who survives in Elkins.
He graduated in 1951 from West Virginia University with a degree in Agronomy. In 1954 he graduated from the West Virginia University School of Law and began his legal career in Elkins where he recently announced his planned retirement on July 1, 2004.
In November 2003, he was honored by the Randolph County Bar Association for 50 years of service to the profession of law. He served as assistant prosecuting attorney for Randolph County from 1972 until 1992, and served as director of Citizens National Bank since 1975.
He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion, Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Rotary International, BPOE Lodge No 1135, the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, the West Virginia State Bar Association, the Randolph County Bar Association, the Fraternal Order of Police and was Fiduciary Commissioner of Randolph County for over 45 years. He was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, Fair is survived by two sons, Matthew H. Fair and wife Jan of Elkins and Kevin M. Fair of Charleston, S.C; a daughter, Susan S. Fair of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Morgan and Andrew of Morgantown; two sisters, Pearl I. Hartley of Bethany and Lois R. Shulz and husband Richard of Hendersonville, N.C.; and 10 nieces and nephews. A brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Monday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Tuesday, he will be moved to the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.

Margaret E. Fallon, 90, a patient in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in the Davis Memorial Hospital.

Margaret E. Fallon
Margaret E. Fallon, 90, a former resident of First Street and the Elkins Manor, and a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past one and a half years, passed away at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, in the Davis Memorial
Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1914, at Beverly, a daughter of the late Bruce Lee Marstiller and Ella Mae Weese Marstiller.
She was formerly married to Paul Fallon who preceded her in death.
Surviving is one daughter, Mary E. McMahon and husband, Roger, of Elkins; two grandchildren, David Michael Gladkosky of South Charleston and Michele Lynn Gladkosky Graham of Mesa, Ariz.; and one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rae Graham.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Mason A. Marstiller, and a sister, Mary Deborah Marstiller Hartman, and a sister and brother who died in infancy.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church and Circle Number 4 of the Church.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel with Sister Teresa Reddington and the Rev. Jeff Falter officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens. Paul P. Fansler
Paul P. Fansler, 69, of Hambleton, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at his home.

Roy C. Farley
Roy Carl Farley, 78, of Flat Top, died early Tuesday morning, Dec. 7, 2004, at the Veterans Regional Hospital at Beckley.
Born Oct. 21, 1926, at Dunns, he was the son of the late Maitland and Lillian Abshire Farley.
Mr. Farley was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. For most of his life, he had worked in construction. He was also a Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. lineman in Ohio and a former employee for the W.Va. Pipeline Co. of Princeton. He was of the Protestant faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Gilbert Roy Farley; four brothers, Thomas, Stanley, George and Eugene Farley; and one sister, Pauline Pate.
Surviving are, his devoted wife of 55 years, Dora Ann Frary Farley; three children and spouses, Sylvia and Stephen Wright of Princeton, Ellen and George Propst of Philippi and Larry D. and Barbara Farley of Lerona; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Bertha LaPointe of Manchester, Conn.; and one half sister, Gracie Persinger of Pence Spring
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. today, from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Capt. Burl LaBatte and Brother Larry Farley officiating. Burial will follow in the Cooper/Clark Cemetery on Eagle Crest Road, Camp Creek. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council. Friends called Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Douglas Farnsworth
Douglas Shane Farnsworth, 22, of Route 4, Box 482, Buckhannon, died Sunday, March 21, 2004, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 17, 1981, in Buckhannon, the son of Eddy Farnsworth and Sue Casto Farnsworth, who survive in Buckhannon.
On March 1, 2003, he married Shelley Perry Farnsworth, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Logan Shane Farnsworth and Austin Douglas Farnsworth, both of Buckhannon; two brothers, Shawn Farnsworth and Jamie Farnsworth, both of Buckhannon; his maternal grandmother, Anna Bell Hamner of Buckhannon; and one nephew, Shawn Taylor Farnsworth of Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Scotty Farnsworth.
He was a member of Sago Baptist Church.

Wayne E. Fawley
Wayne Earl Fawley, 81, a resident of 116 Fourth St. in Belington, departed this life 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2004, at his home. His death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Nov. 13, 1922, in Dartmoor, the son of the late Noah Edward and Icie Pearl Fawley.
Mr. Fawley was twice married, first to Bessie Ray Flubarger Fawley, and second to Mary Margaret Pudder Fawley, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Robert Hamrick of Belington; six stepchildren, Louise Holley, Vivian Indero, Sandy, Chris, Steve and Henry Pudder; two brothers, Blaine and Bert Fawley, both of Morgantown; and two grandchildren, Wayne and Mariah Hamrick.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Henry and Charles Ray Fawley; and one sister, Margaret Smith.
He attended the schools of Barbour County and was employed as a surface coal miner for several years.
He was a member of the Independent Church of the Brethren in Buckhannon.
Friends may be received at the Talbott Funeral Home from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and on Friday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Gertrude Fazenbaker
Gertrude Fazenbaker, 79, of Richwood Ave., Morgantown, passed away Friday, April 9, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 21, 1924, at Pleasant Run in Randolph County, the daughter of the late Cicero and Anna Kalar Vanscoy.
She attended the Sabra United Methodist Church and was a member of the Morgantown Historical Society.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she enjoyed sewing and baking. Well-loved by all who knew her, Mrs. Fazenbaker also took pleasure in collecting dolls.
She had been employed in the local textile industry as a seamstress and worked for the Morgan Shirt Factory and Armstrong Upholstery.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dale Fazenbaker; two daughters, Patty Fazenbaker of Morgantown and Nancy Ryan and spouse, Ray R., of Newburgh, Ind.; one son, Gary Fazenbaker and spouse, Sandra, of Morgantown; four brothers and spouses, Chester and Lola Vanscoy of Kernersville, N.C., Hartsel and Caroline Vanscoy of Warren, Ohio, Lyle Vanscoy of Elkins, and Cletis and Pam Vanscoy of Morgantown; four sisters, Evelyn Raines and spouse Paul, Freda Martin and Audrey Irons, all of Elkins, and Sharon Woods of Hendricks; one granddaughter, Natashia DeBerry of Morgantown; four grandsons and spouses, Timothy and Stacy Ryan, and Michael and Laura Ryan, of Newburgh, Ind., Larry and Tammy DeBerry and Little Dale Fazenbaker of Morgantown; three great-granddaughters, Megan, Madison and Catherine Ryan of Newburgh, Ind., and Abbey DeBerry of Morgantown; and four great-grandsons, Joshua Ryan of Newburgh, Ind., Garrett and Jacy DeBerry and Davy Hoult of Morgantown. Also, Traci Maraney Blumette was like a daughter to Gertrude and was especially close to the woman whom she called "Mamaw."
She was preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Stevens.
Friends may call at Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday, from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. the funeral hour. The Rev. Shirley Elizabeth Mick Fazenbaker, 60, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Monday evening, Sept. 6, 2004, at her home. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Jan. 21, 1944, at Hopwood, Pa., the daughter of the late Gordon L. Mick and Faye Hall Mick, who survives in Parsons.
She was twice married, first to Robert C. Bartholomew, who preceded her in death on March 1, 2000, and second to Raymond A. Fazenbaker, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are three sons, Robert J. Bartholomew of Porter, Texas, John D. Bartholomew of Kingwood and Richard P. Bartholomew of Morgantown; one daughter, Linda Ann Vincent of Washington, D.C.; four brothers, Charles L. Mick of Terns, N.J., Dale R. Mick of Minnieville, Va., Earl R. Mick of Pueblo, Colo., and John D. Mick of McClellandtown, Pa.; four sisters, Hazel M. Price and Loretta M. Poling, both of Parsons, Phyllis D. Barnhart of Hastings, Minn., and June Ann Evans of Hopwood, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
She was a graduate of German Township High School with the class of 1962.
She was a former employee of the Spears Nursing Home at Markleysburg, Pa., and retired from Staff Force Inc. of Texas.
She was a gardener, she loved to read and was a noted cook, having won cooking competitions for her chili recipe and won many trophies.

Sidney O. Feaster II
Sidney O. “Skip” Feaster II, 62, a former resident of Elkins and a resident of Beltsville, Md., departed his life Saturday, Oct. 2, 2004, at his residence. Death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Aug. 20, 1942, in Elkins, a son of the late Sidney O. and Agnes Tephabaugh Feaster.
On May 15, 1976, in Elkins, he was married to his loving wife, Carol Feaster, who survives in Beltsville, Md.
Surviving are one sister, Wanda Schoonover, and husband, Austin; one daughter, Virginia Louise Hedrick, Elkins; one son, Sidney O. “Skipper” Feaster III, and wife, Lisa, Elkins; a favorite aunt, Joan Hamilton, Bel-Air, Md.; six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces, nephews, and cousins and a special cousin, Jinx McNeer, Fairfax, Va.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were two infant sisters, Malinda Mae and Souel Adair Feaster; maternal grandparents, Floyd L. and Bessie M. Kerns Tephabaugh; paternal grandparents, Adolph and Malinda Shannon Feaster; one aunt, Jacque Smith; two uncles, Orlo G. Smith and Harold J. Hamilton; and two cousins, Janie Elizabeth Hamilton and Jerri Lynn Graziani.
He attended schools in Elkins.
He served with the U.S. Navy 1961 to 1967. He served aboard the USS Independence and was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He worked as Inventory Control Manager for Gold Lines in Tuxedo, Md., retiring Aug. 31, 2004.
He loved to fish, work puzzles, read and enjoyed watching West Virginia University Mountaineers and Washington Red Skins football games on television. He also loved to visit his two granddaughters, Brianna and Kasey Feaster.
He was a member of the Post Veterans of Foreign Wars 6025 in Beltsville, Md., and the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion in Elkins.
He was a Presbyterian by faith.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated.
The Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home, P.A. of Beltsville, Md. was in charge of the cremation.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Crystal Springs Community Church with Pastor David Collins officiating.

Samuel Mark Felton
Samuel Mark Felton, 72, a resident of Dailey, passed away at 9:46 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 2004, in Davis Memorial Hospital.

Samuel Felton Sr.
Samuel “Mark” Felton Sr., 72, a resident of Dailey, passed away Friday, July 29, 2004, at 9:15 a.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past several years; however, death was sudden and unexpected.
Born Dec. 18, 1931, at Moatsville, he was the son of the late Fred and Feroe Miller Felton.
On May 27, 1950, at Moatsville Methodist Church, he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 54 years, the former Rita June Murphy, who survives in Dailey.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Sam and Nicki Felton of Marlinton and Steve and Darlene Felton of Mill Creek.
Also surviving are three devoted grandsons, Rusty Felton, Curt Felton and wife, Jeanette, all of Marlinton, and Scott Felton and wife, Cortney, of Triadelphia; two loving granddaughters, Mickey Majoc of Elkins and Donna Corley of Belington; a special great-grandson, Wesley Mark Felton; and two special great-granddaughters, Tessa Murphy and Shae Dadison.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were one brother, John David Felton, and an infant sister, Gloria.
Mark grew up in and attended the schools of Barbour County. He worked many jobs; however, he will be best remembered as an over the load truck driver and carpenter, until becoming disabled in 1992.
He was a born again Christian and an active member of the Mill Creek United Methodist Church. He worked many hours with the Tyrand Parish Ministries and always enjoyed the Summer Youth Groups.
Mark was also a volunteer of the Valley Unit Emergency Squad. He was a 25-year member of the Randolph Masonic Lodge 55 AF & AM of Beverly. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and camping. Above all, he loved his wife, family and his many friends. He will be sadly missed and forever in their hearts.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday after 7 p.m. The Rev. Carroll McCauley, the Rev. Verl Simmons of the Stone Coal United Methodist Church and Elder Howard Harper of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate. Dominick L. Feola
Dominick Louis Feola, 88, of 30 Fairlawn Drive, Buckhannon, died at 5:45 a.m. Saturday, July 10, 2004, at his home.
He was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Pickens, the son of the late Samuel Feola Sr. and Louisa DeAngelis Feola.
On Aug. 28, 1938, he was married to his wife of 65 years, Kathryn Fury Feola, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Stephen Feola and wife, Patricia, of Buckhannon; one daughter, Stephanie Feola of Buckhannon; one brother, Julius "Gus" Feola of Buckhannon; three sisters, Edith Amalfitano of Buckhannon, Mary Anderegg of Buckhannon and Catherine Hinkle of McLean, Va.; one granddaughter, Kimberly Gilmore and husband, Matthew, of Vienna, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Feola and Frank Feola.
He graduated from Buckhannon High School in 1935. Following graduation, Dominick attended florist school in New York City and returned to help found the family business.
He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Knox, Ky., during World War II.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, was a charter member of Buckhannon Moose Lodge 598, was a longtime member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1736, and was a former member of the Buckhannon Country Club.
Honoring Dominick’s request, there was no public visitation. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. today at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. James McCafferty officiated and interment followed in Buckhannon Memorial Park. Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663 and Frank B. Bartlett Post 7 American Legion conducted military honors at the graveside. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.  From 12 Jul 2004.

Earl T. Ferrebee Sr.
Earl Ferrebee Sr., 60, of Natchez, Miss., died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at the Natchez Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 13, 1944, at Elkins, the son of the late Paul Ferrebee and Lenora Tallman Ferrebee.
Surviving are one son, Earl T. Dorkes Ferrell
Dorkes Irene Lina Ferrell, 67, of Mill Creek, passed away at 8:42 p.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004, in Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past two months.
Born in Randolph County on May 22, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Ray R. and Mae Hammonds Reams.
She was united in marriage to Frank A. Ferrell, who preceded her in death on April 11, 1990.
She is survived by two daughters, Helen Cosner of Russellville, Ky., and Brenda Daniels and husband, Calvin, of Mill Creek; and one son, Mark Ferrell and wife, Charlotte, of Mill Creek.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jessica Ferrell, Steven Daniels, Craig Daniels, Emily Walton, Sam Allen Cosner, Ashton Cosner; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dorkes was preceded in death by one son, David Ferrell. Dorkes was a homemaker and a United Methodist by faith.
At the request of the deceased, her remains were cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at the Mill Creek United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Verl Simmons, pastor of the Stonecoal United Methodist Charge, officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in the National Cemetery in Pruntytown. The F.E. Cindy S. Fincham
Cindy S. Fincham, 50, of Summit Point, died Friday, June 25, 2004, at the Winchester, Va., Medical Center.
She was born May 18, 1954, in New Jersey, the daughter of William S. Moore and Rosalie Kitzmiller Moore, who survive in Morgantown.
She is also survived by her husband of 32 years, Doyle Mitchell “Mitch” Fincham; two daughters, Marsha Coggins and husband, Gary, and Tiffany Fincham, all of Summit Point; two sons, Scott Fincham and wife, Amy, of Ranson and Ryan Fincham and wife, Renee, of Gerrardstown; two grandchildren, Haden Fincham and Madyson Fincham; four sisters, Debbie Moore of Columbia, S.C., and Becky Fear, Evan Moore and Allison Carlin, all of Morgantown; one brother, Randy Moore of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
She attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Charles Town. She was a graduate of Morgantown High School.
She was a dedicated caregiver of her grandchildren. Also she was very active in school, church and community activities and would help any of her family and friends when needed.
A memorial service will be at Asbury United Methodist Church at a later date. Interment will be in Middleway Masonic Cemetery at Middleway. Max P. Findley
Max P. Findley, 75, departed this life at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 15, 2004, at his daughter’s home at 100 Extension River View Ave., Industry, Pa., following an extended illness.
Mr. Findley was a former and longtime resident of 107 East Crim Ave. in Belington.
He was born July 21, 1928, in Barbour County, the son of the late Wade and Lena Poling Findley.
On Aug. 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Helen B. Hill, who preceded him in death on July 24, 1985.
He is survived by one son, Ira L. Findley and wife, Karen, of Ambridge, Pa.; two daughters, Cheryl Bish, with whom he made his home, of Industry, Pa., and Lena D. Lalama of Aliquippa, Pa;. and one daughter-in-law, Anita Findley of Mayslanding, N.J.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Roxanne and Max Findley, Helen Green, Billy Joe Heater, Diana Stadnick, Justin, Natasha, and John Bish, Rachael Barutti, Raphael Rodriguez, Anita Findley, Sherry Boring and Alexis Lalama; and three great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Boring, Maximues Barutti, and Aaunisty Price.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Max W. Findley; and three sisters, Norma Findley, Betty Findley and Mary Katherine Spencer.
Mr. Findley was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II as a medic. He was employed as a mechanic at his father’s garage in Belington and retired from Mountaineer Motors in Elkins
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and on Monday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour when services will be conducted from the funeral home parlor with the Rev. F.L. “Wink” McQuain officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Bend Cemetery near Belington where the presentation of the American flag will be conducted by the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi. James G. Fisher
James Glen “Blue” Fisher, 85, of Kanawha Head, passed away Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
He was born June 4, 1918, at Jerry’s Run in Webster County, the son of the late William Tazewell and Estella Blake Fisher.
He was united in marriage on March 22, 1947, to Cosbie Rebecca Crawford Fisher, who preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2003.
He is survived by four sons, Ernest Glen Fisher of Philippi, James Edward Fisher and wife, Patty, of Buckhannon, Thomas Mark Fisher and wife, Sis, of Arlington and Randall Lee Fisher of Buckhannon; three daughters, Zelda Ruth Hawkins and husband, Robert, of Buckhannon, Jewel Lynn Fisher of Kanawha Head and Nancy Kay White and husband, Stan, of Buckhannon.
He is also survived by one brother, Ernest Fisher and wife, Reta, of Mansfield, Ohio; two sisters, Zelda Hawk and Ella “Doll” Hoover, both of Mansfield, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, William Fisher, Isaac Fisher, Bailey Fisher and Elva Fisher; and five sisters, Mae Bender, Virginia “Midge” Bender, Ressie Cooper, Elizabeth Anderson and Bertha McCray.
Mr. Fisher retired as a school bus driver for 17 1/2 years with the Upshur County Board of Education and a truck driver for four years with the West Virginia Department of Highways.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 36 of Carter. He attended the Good Hope Tabernacle Church.
Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel in Buckhannon from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel with Pastor Holly J. Gus S. Fisher
Gus Sam Fisher, 72, a former resident of Elkins, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2004, at his home in Los Angeles, Calif.
He was born on Dec. 24, 1931, in Grafton and was a resident of Los Angeles for over 40 years.
Gus was the devoted father of Samantha Fisher of Los Angeles whom he cherished.
He was the beloved brother of Esther Huyck and loving uncle to Cheryl and Marilyn Huyck and a loving cousin to Dean Fisher, Phil Fisher and Peter Fasseas, their spouses and families.
Gus grew up in Elkins. He graduated Elkins High School in 1949, Potomac State School in 1951 and West Virginia University in 1953.
He was captain of his high school basketball team, went on to earn collegiate athletic scholarships and was a member of West Virginia’s varsity basketball teams that went on to tournament play in the early 1950s.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, earned his commission and was stationed at El Toro.
In 1958, he earned a bachelor of arts degree at the Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre. He performed on stage, screen and television in a number of roles for about a decade before concentrating on real estate. Gus came to specialize in commercial real estate as a broker and owner for over 25 years.
Mr. Fisher’s passions were his personal relationships, the arts, sports and most of all, being a father to his beloved daughter, Samantha.
While he made his home and career in California, Gus maintained a lifelong connection to his West Virginia roots. He remained close to his many dear friends there through frequent communication and visits.
Gus’ life will be celebrated at a service at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, Calif. Donations in his memory may be made to Los Angeles Hospice.  From 25 Feb 2004.

William F. “Bill” Fitzgerald, 74, of Route 2, French Creek, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at his home under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospice.
He was born April 27, 1930, in Upshur County, a son of the late Gordon and Anna Gould Fitzgerald.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Lou Jones of Harrisville and Patty Daugherty of French Creek; one aunt, Burla Loudin of French Creek; one nephew, Chuck Christopher of Troy, Ohio; two nieces, Debbie Maddy of Corvallis, Ore., and Tammy Armintrout of Johnstown, Ohio; two great-nephews; and three great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Mabel Sue Christopher.
He was retired from Bates and Rogers Construction Co. after 31 years. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the French Creek Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Post 149 of Alexander. He attended the Waterloo and Laurel Fork United Methodist Churches.
Friends will be received at the Heavner & Cutright Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. John Fitzwater
John Edward Fitzwater, 58, departed this life at 10 a.m. Sunday, May 9, 2004, at his residence at state Route 92 in Belington. Death was sudden and unexpected
He was born May 26, 1945, in Belington, the son of the late William “Bill” and Lula Pearl Kittle Fitzwater. On June 14, 1970, at Philippi, he was united in marriage to the former Carla Kay Nestor who survives at their home in Belington.
Mr. Fitzwater is also survived by one son, John Todd Fitzwater and wife, Char, of Kasson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Imogene Nestor of Philippi; two sisters, Mary E. Carper and husband, Gary, and Carolyn Sue Wolfe and husband, Dorsey, all of Belington; and one granddaughter, Sidney Louise Fitzwater. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one brother, David E. Fitzwater.
Mr. Fitzwater attended the schools of Barbour County, was a Vietnam-era veteran serving in the United States Marines from 1966 to 1968, a member of the Belington Masonic Lodge 125 AF&AM, a member of the Tygart Valley Royal Arch Masons 39, Tygart Valley Post 3647 VFW in Elkins, and American Legion Post 29 in Belington. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator most of his adult life and was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received from the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and on Thursday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home parlor with the Rev. Kenny Kendall officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Creek Cemetery near Belington where the Belington Masonic Lodge will conduct ritualistic graveside services.

Ralph U. Flanagan
Ralph U. Flanagan, 83, of Vienna, died peacefully in his sleep with his family at his side on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Beckley.
He was born June 14, 1920, in Coalton, the son of the late William and Ella Ruth Gallaher Flanagan.
Ralph was one of nine children. He has one living sister, Grace Cook of Elkins; three nephews and one niece.
Ralph graduated from Coalton High School in 1937 and attended Marietta College.
He was a veteran of World War II and was a sergeant in the Army Air Corps.
On Aug. 12, 1944, he married Mary Winifred “Winnie” Eaton of Parkersburg. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage this August. They were able to travel to Ireland to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary.
Born to this union were Michael D. Flanagan and wife, Dianna, of Vienna, Patricia M. Flanagan of Vienna and Jane E. Flanagan of Beckley.
He was the grandfather of four, Christi L. Flanagan Harris and husband, Norman, of Vienna, Kelli D. Flanagan Sprout and husband, Jeremy, of Parkersburg, Brian M. Flanagan and wife, Stephanie, of Parkersburg and Daniel W. Moye II of Beckley. He had three great-grandchildren, Emily and Claire Flanagan and Hannah Sprout of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and five sisters.
Ralph worked for Union Carbide Corp. for 31 years and retired as a chief analytical chemist. He always had a very strong work ethic, studied hard and oftentimes worked three jobs to support his family.
He was an active member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Vienna and worked diligently with the Souper Saturday meal program for the hungry.
He was a life member of the BPOE Elks Lodge No. 198 in Parkersburg and American Legion Post 15 in Parkersburg. He loved to golf and was a charter member of the Worthington Senior Men’s Golf Club. He was instrumental in starting the Worthington Golf Association’s women’s group.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home of Vienna where Rosary services will be recited by the Rev. Fr. James Chetock at 7:45 p.m. The funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m Thursday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Vienna with the Rev. Fr. James Chetock, the Rev. Fr. William Matheny and the Rev. Fr. Samuel Sacus as celebrants. Burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Victoria “Vicki” Flanagan, 7, a resident of the Kingsville community, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 24, 1997, in Elkins, the daughter of Michael Eugene Flanagan and Alberta Regina Steele Flanagan, residents of Kingsville.
Also surviving are one brother, Michael Paul Flanagan, at home; maternal grandparents, Barbara Jean Steele of Norton and Frank Edward Mallow and wife, Bernadette, of Valley Head; paternal grandparents, Paul and Linda Flanagan of Kingsville; maternal great-grandmother, Ethel Mallow of Elkins; six aunts, Kathy Warner and husband, Wayne, of Norton, Paula Flanagan and special friend, Krista Huffman, of Buckhannon, Angie, Brenda and Gracie Mallow of Ohio, and Crystal Mallow of Valley Head; and cousins, Vincent and Christopher.

Vicki was a student at Coalton School, where she completed first grade.
She was an active member of the Belington Church of the Nazarene and attended Bible School at the church.

Rebecca Ellen Flannery, 45, of Buckhannon, died Monday, May 24, 2004, at her home.
She was born Jan. 16, 1959, in Buckhannon, the daughter of the late Roy Clayton Summers and Dolly Jessie Humphrey Summers.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Flannery of Buckhannon.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Amber Dawn Flannery, at home; one son, Roy Dallas Flannery, at home; and 10 brothers and sisters, Roy Clayton Summers Jr. of Big Bend, Emma Elizabeth Cutright of Buckhannon, Arthur David Summers of New York, Andrew Phillip Summers of Kentucky, Jerry Paul Summers of Alabama, Helen Virginia Summers of Buckhannon, Theodore Franklin Summers of French Creek, Janet Darlene Summers of Big Bend, John Mark Summers of Big Bend, and Lena Victoria Oldaker of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil Orville Humphrey and Russell Wayne Summers.
She was a seamstress for Ashland Sales and Services of Buckhannon.
She was a volunteer for Weston State Hospital Revitalizaton Committee.

Carroll “Ace” Ford
Carroll Lee “Ace” Ford, 85, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2004, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
He was born Jan. 1, 1919, in West Union, to Glenn L. and Susie M. Ford amidst a large, happy family of four sisters and two brothers.
Growing up in Buckhannon, he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College, leaving his beloved West Virginia to attend Aero Industries Institute in California, graduating in 1939.
Ace first worked for Consolidated Aircraft, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then worked for General Motors in Kansas City.
His division transferred to Allison in Indianapolis in 1955, where he worked as a technical writer until his 1980 retirement.
He was a member of the First-Meridian Heights Presbyterian Church and served as deacon.
He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Ace was devoted to his family, friends, neighbors and church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Ford; one brother, Lowell Ford; and two sisters, Laura Ford Morrison and Gleneva Ford Murray.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Gish Ford; one sister, Doris Holpp; one brother, Samuel Ford; one daughter, Sharon Ford Owen and husband, Michael; two stepsons, Kim B. Phemister and wife, Elaine, and Keith R. Phemister and wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Amanda and Megan Owen, Belinda and Amy Phemister, Michael and Ryan Phemister and Anne Eldridge; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Henry Allen Ford
Henry Allen Ford, 53, a resident of Dailey, passed away at 9:56 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born July 4, 1951, at Monterville, the son of the late Luther Allen Ford and Reva Ball Ford.
He was married to the former Latricia Sue Rush, who survives.
Surviving are five sons, Henry Allen Ford of Ohio, Jeffrey Dewayne Ford of Beverly, Luther Mark Ford and Jesse Matthew Ford, both of Ohio, and David Wayne Ford of Dailey; and one daughter, Angela Sue Ford of Dailey.
Also surviving are one brother, Charles Ford of Mill Creek; five sisters, Isalee Graves and Elsie See, both of Huttonsville, Joan Acord of Fairdale, Carol Day of Augusta, Ga., and Pearlene Paule of Monterville; and 10 grandchildren, Kenneth and Cassandra Butcher, Marcus, Austin, Nathaniel, Jessie, Crystal and Dylan Ford, Dakota Westfall and Samantha West.
Mr. Ford worked as a coal miner before becoming disabled.

Emery J. Fortney
Emery John Fortney, 75, a resident of Bowden, the Alpena community, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Monday, April 26, 2004, in the Winchester, Va., Medical Center where he had been a patient for 20 days. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
Born on Aug. 19, 1928, in Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Norvel and Lena Johnson Fortney.
In September 1948, he was united in marriage to the former Geraldine VanPelt, who survives at Alpena.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Virginia Carol Cross and husband, Clyde, of Kearneysville, Dorothy Ray and husband, Jacob, of Petersburg, Rosemary Ray and husband, Jack, of Dailey, and Connie Pevarnik and husband, Tim, of Martinsburg; one son, Michael Fortney, and wife, Kristy, of Harman; and one brother, Marshall Fortney, and wife, Karen, of Dailey.
Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were one sister, Freda Taylor; and seven brothers, Charlie, Kermit, James, Jessie, Mason, Alvie and Sherman Fortney.
Mr. Fortney retired from the city of Leesburg, Va., and Dulles Airport, where he worked in the maintenance departments.
He was a United Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received after 6 p.m. today at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel at 1 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Curlie Ray of the Abundant Life Christian Center and the Rev. Walter Blough, retired minister from the Church of the Brethren, officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The F.E. Lois Tacy Fortney
Lois Elaine Tacy Fortney, 53, a resident of Harpertown Road, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital. She had been in her usual health and death was unexpected.
She was born Jan. 16, 1951, at Mill Creek, the daughter of the late Violet Lafayette Gilmore, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Billie Jo Fortney of Elkins; two brothers, Paul Tacy of Arizona and James Tacy of Beverly; two sisters, Mary Blakeney of China Springs, Texas, and Rebecca Lothes of Parkersburg; and one aunt, Pauline Taylor of Elkins.
Lois was a graduate of Tygarts Valley High School. She was employed as a heavy equipment operator for J.F. Allen at the time of her death.

Ruth Fox
Ruth J. Skidmore Fox, 81, a resident of West Central Street, Elkins, passed away Friday afternoon, July 30, 2004, in Davis Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past several days.
Mrs. Fox was born March 23, 1923, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Noble Hartford Skidmore and Dona Mae Auvil Skidmore.
She was married to Charles W. Fox, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Teresa Miller and husband, Robert “Arab” Miller, of Elkins; and one sister, Edna Allen and husband, Bretzel, of Bridgeport. Five grandchildren, Ashley Sitton of Elkins, Zachary J. Morrison of Severn, Md., Todd Bolyard and wife, Shellie, of Parsons, Scot Bolyard of Parsons, and Megan Bolyard of Charleston; two great-granddaughters, Jontasia Sitton and Carleigh Bolyard; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding her in death were one son, Jerry Carl Bolyard; two brothers, William “Toby” Skidmore, Victor “Hugh” Skidmore; and one sister, Hazel Hotsinpillar.
Mrs. Fox had worked for many years as a nurses aid for Broaddus Hospital in Philippi and Tucker County Hospital in Parsons. She loved gospel and country music and was an accomplished fiddle and guitar player. She was a loving mother, grandmother and will be remember by all for her kindness, generosity and compassion. She was a Pentecostal by faith.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Garland M. Foy
Garland Martin Foy, 69, of Junior, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 14, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following an extended illness.
He was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Morgantown, the son of the late Garland Clark and Edith Mae Moore Foy.
Surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Nancy and Kyle Wooten of Bell Camp, Md., and Winnie and Albert Hunt of Route 4, Buckhannon; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Carl and Dora Ann Foy of Junior, and Larry R. and Karen Foy of Belington; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Foy was a former lumber grader for Mongold Lumber Co. and worked in the shipping department of the Bata Shoe Co.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Belington Church of Christ.
Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel. Charles R. Freeman
Charles R. “Bubb” Freeman, 67, a resident of Little Hacker, Philippi, died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at Broaddus Hospital.
He was born, July 14, 1937, in Upshur County, a son of the late Edgar C. Freeman and Sylvia Foster Freeman, who survives at Philippi.
He was united in marriage in June 1963 to Lena L. Miner, who preceded him in death Dec. 30, 1993.
Surviving are one foster daughter, Katrine Alth at home; one foster son, Raymond L. Freeman and wife, Teena, of Moatsville; six sisters, Gladys McDaniel of Killeen, Texas, Maxine Burgardt of Belington, Lola Freeman, Barbara Workman, Deborah Marsh and Cindy Freeman, all of Philippi; two brothers, John Freeman and Jesse Freeman, both of Philippi; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Freeman and Helen Freeman Sigley.
He was a former truck driver for Benson Trucking and Jones Trucking and was known by many by his CB name, Big John. He was a baptist by faith.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and until 2 p.m. Tuesday, the funeral hour. Pastor David Brown will officiate and interment will follow in the Mt. Liberty Cemetery. Wright Funeral Home services.   From 22 Nov 2004.

Virginia Freeman
Virginia “Ginny Mae” Freeman, 85, of Route 2, Box 50, French Creek, died Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004, at Broaddus Hospital.
She was born Oct. 10, 1919, in Buckhannon, a daughter of the late Clifford Lee and Estes Kesling.
On March 9, 1946, she married Brent Mason Jr., who preceded her in death on March 8, 1993.
Surviving are two sons, Brent M. II and and wife, Joyce Freeman, Buckhannon and Lee and and wife, Ellen Freeman, Tennerton; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Kesling.
She was a homemaker and a member of Adrian United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Point Pleasant Church Cemetery in Abbott.  From 29 Oct 2004.

Merrill Lorraine “John” Fretwell, 80, a resident of Jimtown, departed this life Monday afternoon, Feb. 23, 2004, at Nella’s Inc. at Crystal Springs. He had been in declining health for the past three months.
He was born Monday, May 21, 1923, at Kerens, the son of the late Charles Jennings Fretwell and Sylvia E. Ware Fretwell.
Surviving are two sons, John Fretwell and wife, Julie, and Ron Fretwell and wife, Shelly, all of Mission Viejo, Calif.; two brothers, Robert Fretwell of St. Albans and Sylvester Fretwell of Elkins; one sister, Miriam Collett of Elkins; and four grandchildren, Kaela, Stephanie, Tyler and Sidney Fretwell, all of Mission Viejo, Calif.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were one brother, Laniere Fretwell; and two sisters, Coleen Fretwell and Helen Poling Twigg.
He attended the schools of Randolph County and Elkins High School, was a veteran of World War II and served with the U. S. Navy, and was a commuter bus driver between Long Beach and Los Angeles, Calif., for 31 years for the Long Beach Rapid Transit District.
He retired to the Jimtown community near Elkins a number of years ago and was an avid hunter and bowler until injury and illness curtailed his activities.
He was an active participant in the life of the Calvary Baptist Church at Elkins and the Randolph County Senior Center. He was a member of the Tygarts Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars, was a 50-year member of the Anaheim Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons of California, and was a member of the Elkins Chapter 35 Royal Arch Masons and the Tygarts Valley Shrine Club.

Mary Frey
Mary Louise Murphy Frey, 75, of Mansfield Addition, Philippi, departed this life on Monday, April 26, 2004, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born at the former Myers Hospital in Philippi on June 9, 1928, one of six children of the late Eva B. Duckworth Murphy and Everett Murphy. She was raised in Clemtown and was a 1945 graduate of Philippi High School.
On Aug. 26, 1950, in Winchester Va., she was married to Don Frey of Philippi, who survives.
She was the loving mother of three children and their spouses: daughter, Brenda and her husband, Paul Zickefoose, of Philippi, daughter, Linda Frey and her husband, Robert Pyles, of Bethel Park, Pa.; and son, Larry Frey and his wife, Mary, of Valparaiso, Ind.
She was the adoring grandmother of seven grandchildren, Julie and Miranda Zickefoose of Philippi, Justin and David Pyles of Bethel Park, Pa., and Jason, Jared and Sara Frey of Valparaiso, Ind.
She is also survived by two brothers and their spouses, Tommy and Kathy Murphy of Volga and Dale and Dorain Murphy of Grafton, as well as six nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Murphy; and two sisters, Mrs. Neason (Ruth) Baughman and Mrs. Lee (Edith) Watkins, whose husband is surviving.
Mrs. Frey was a former employee of the Hazel Atlas Glass Co. in Grafton and the G.C. Murphy Co. in Philippi.
She was a member of the Philippi Order of the Eastern Star, the Mansfileld Methodist Women’s Group and the Mansfield Methodist Church.
She was a caring friend and neighbor to many.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 2 p.m. today. Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 41 will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Patricia A. Frey
Patricia A. “Pat” Frey, 71, a resident of 33 Tucker St., Buckhannon, and a former resident of Century No. 1, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at her residence.
She was born March 25, 1932, at Century, the daughter of the late Rupert E. and Alma Campbell Hawley.
She was united in marriage on Nov. 23, 1953, to Jimmie G. Frey, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Katherine and Dennis Dean of Crown Point, Ind.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kimberly Allen Frey and wife, Elizabeth Kay, of Buckhannon, Kip D. Frey and wife, Ramona J., of Buckhannon, and Kevin R. Frey and wife, Krista S., of Clarksburg; three granddaughters, Amy Frederickson, Karly Frey and Katlin Frey; four grandsons, Doug Andrews, Jason A. Frey, Kody Frey and D.J. Frey; and three great-grandchildren, Dillon Frederickson, Zackery Andrews and Lorian Andrews.
Mrs. Frey retired in 1998 as office manager for the Century-Volga Water Board. She was a former member of the Upshur County Emergency Squad.

Phyllis Friel
Phyllis Carol Sacks Friel, 70, of Cheat Lake/Morgantown, departed this life at 11:45 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2004, at Monongalia General Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born July 9, 1933, in Dailey, a daughter of the late Filmore Franklin Sacks and Ethel Mae Glover Sacks.
She was a 1951 graduate of Beverly High School and a member of the Dunbar No. 133 Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid bowler, having won many trophies. She bowled in several leagues in Charleston and Morgantown, and bowled in two national tournaments in Denver, Colo., and Tucson, Ariz.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene Arthur Friel, to whom she was married on Oct. 1, 1953; one daughter, Ellen “Ellie” Loraine and husband J. Lewis Friel of Wilmington, N.C.; one son, Eddie Michael and wife Marianne Koon Friel of Galveston, Ind.; two grandsons, Spc. Erick Anthony Friel of Greenwood, Tenn., and Spc. Evan Michaell and wife Elizabeth Carter Friel of Kokomo, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Chelby Elizabeth, Kylin “Katie” Eve and Emily Michele Friel of Kokomo, Ind.; one sister, Rose Bonsal of Sykesville, Md.; four brothers, Robert C. Sacks of Mazomanie, Wis., James P. Sacks and wife Patsy of Elkins, Gailford Neil Sacks of Elkins and Donald Bruce Sacks and wife Barbara of Bethleham, Ga.; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Emily Sacks, and three brothers, John Sacks, David Sacks and Roger Sacks.
Friends may call at the VanReenan Funeral Home in Marlinton from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday from noon until the 1 p.m. service with the Rev. Anita L. Friend
Anita Louise Friend, 64, of Thomas, passed away Oct. 8, 2004, at her home in the arms of her loving husband, whom she married on May 31, 1959.
She was born Feb. 17, 1940, in Thomas, the daughter of the late Charles Lee and Catherine Louise Phillips Sutton.
She is survived by her husband, Dick Friend; three sons, Ed and Amy Friend of Disputanta, Va., Andy and Reatha Friend of New Creek and Billy and Jennifer Friend of Davis; one daughter, Cathy and Scott Batt of Morgantown; three brothers, Charles Sutton of Arlington, Va., Donnie W. Sutton of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Thomas C. Sutton of Elkins; two sisters, Debbie and Tom Cook of Thomas and Ginny Sacco of Kenville, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Hannah R. Friend.
Mrs. Friend was a homemaker and a Protestant by faith.

Hannah R. Friend
Hannah Renee Friend, 3, of Davis, died Aug. 14, 2004, in Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md.
She was born Jan. 26, 2001, in Oakland, Md., the daughter of William Spedden and Jennifer Ellen Helmick Friend of Davis.
She is also survived by three sisters, Jennifer Marie, Bethany Kaylynn and Rachel Nicole Friend, all at home; her paternal grandparents, Dick and Anita Friend of Thomas; and maternal grandparents, Edward and Mary Ellen Helmick of Omaha, Neb.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be at the Community Bible Church in Davis at 1:30 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Alice D. Froman
Alice Digman Froman, 92, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg.
She was born Aug. 2, 1912, to Virginia Mae Price and Glenn Arnet Digman at Clover Run in Tucker County.
On Sept. 4, 1930, at Red House, Md., she was united in marriage to Henry C. Froman He preceded her in death after 53 years of marriage.
She is survived by two daughters, Louise F. Lipscomb of Thomas and Mary Ann Froman of Bridgeport; one daughter-in-law, Ruby Froman of Pylesville, Md.; five grandchildren, Sherry and J.D. Haffield of Vero Beach, Fla., Linda and Steve Bellerose of Fredricksburg, Va., Robert and Joan Froman of Delta, Pa., Bonnie and Wayne Spear of Clover, S.C., and Janet and David Podlaseck of Bridgeville, Del.; 15 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, James W. Digman of St. George and Berkley G. Digman of Randallstown, Md.; and one sister, Mary Kisner of Terra Alta.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Kenneth, one granddaughter, Vicky Lipscomb; and seven brothers and sisters, Walter J. Digman, Ray E. Digman, Ella Digman, Grace Digman, Goldie Digman, Ruth Digman and Elizabeth Davis.
She was a member of the Pythian Sisters Bridgeport Temple 14 for 42 years, a member of the Tautara Santha 11, Nomads of Avrudaka for many years and the Shinnston Rebekah Lodge 47. She attended Bridgeport Baptist Church where she taught a youth Sunday school class until her health deteriorated. She was a homemaker who loved to work in her garden and flowers. She enjoyed crocheting and loved children and baby sat well into her 70s. She was very outgoing and made many friends in the state.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel at 215 East Main St. in Bridgeport today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne Spear officiating. A graveside service will be held in Parsons City Cemetery in Parsons at 1 p.m.

Audra E. Funk
Audra E. Funk, 86, a resident of Route 3 and a former resident of 9 S. Hight St., Philippi, passed away at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2004, in United Hospital Center.
Audra was born April 12, 1918, at Camden-on-Gauley in Webster County, the daughter of the late James F. and Emily House Warner.
She was united in marriage on Aug. 31, 1941, to William Henry Funk, who preceded her in death on May 30, 1998.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Rudy Hesse of Philippi; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Diana Funk of Little Hocking, Ohio; one brother and sister-in-law, Argel and Ruth Warner of Austin, Texas; two grandchildren, Kimberly Wiseman and Lori Funk; and five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Wiseman, Robert Wiseman II, Emily Wiseman, Kali Funk and Zoe Funk.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, William D. Warner and Orval B. Warner; and one grandson, David Funk.
Audra was a retired court reporter for Barbour and Taylor counties.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 41, the Shooks Run Community Education Outreach Service Club, Philippi Senior Citizens and served on the Council on Aging.
She enjoyed line and square dancing.
She was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church and the Women’s Society of Christian Service.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, the funeral hour. The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Linda Payton officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. Memorial donations in Audra E. Funk’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Mountain Hospice.
