Warren L. Echard, 60, of Route 1, Box 155, Beverly, died Friday, April 23, 2004,
at Holbrook’s Nursing Home.

Warren L. Echard
Warren L. Echard, 60, of Route 1, Box 155, Beverly, died Friday, April 23, 2004,
in Holbrook’s Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
He was born May 13, 1943, in Buckhannon, the son of Velma Lowe Echard, who
survives in Buckhannon, and the late Edgar Pearl Echard.
On June 4, 1966, he was married to Mildred Tenney Echard, who survives.
Surviving are one daughter, Rosalin Arbogast of Valley Bend; four sisters,
Crystal Tenney, Helen Echard and Anita Hamner, both of Buckhannon and Joan
Russell of Ambridge, Pa.; one brother, Denver Echard of Vermilion, Ohio; and one
granddaughter, Leah Arbogast.
He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Richard Arbogast.
He was a licensed practical nurse for 38 years and worked at Davis Memorial
Hospital for 19 years and at Barbour County Good Samaritan Center and Nella’s
Inc.
He was a member of Beverly United Methodist Church, Tygart Valley Independent
Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 66 and the Retired Licensed Practical Nurse
Association.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Poling-St. Clair
Funeral Home. IOOF Lodge 66 will conduct a memorial service at 8:30 p.m. today.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev.
Wease Day and the Rev. Donald Butcher officiating. Interment will follow in Sand

Marcella B. Eddy
Marcella B. Eddy, 96, a resident of Parsons and more recently a resident of
Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, departed this life Wednesday morning,
April 14, 2004, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health and death
was attributed to congestive heart failure.
She was born Monday, April 15, 1907, at Pheasant Run, Tucker County, the
daughter of the late Thomas H. Bright and Emma Susan Cross Bright.
She was married to Roscoe Sutton Eddy, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one son, David Leroy Eddy of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister-in-law,
Freda Bright of Parsons; and several nieces and nephews.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in
death by two brothers, Henry R. Bright and Thomas P. Bright; one half brother,
James B. Cross; and one sister, Grace B. Bright.
She attended the Salem School on Pheasant Run. She was a former employee of the
Bisco Plant at Parkersburg and the former Dorman Woolen Mill of Parsons, and was
a well-known seamstress.
She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Parsons where she was a
member of the willing workers of the church for many years.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons
today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home
parlor at 11 a.m. Friday. Pastor James Ellis will officiate and interment will
follow at the Parsons Family Cemetery at Shavers Fork, Tucker County. The Lohr

Samuel R. Edgell
Samuel Ray Edgell, 27, of Route 2, Belington, died unexpectedly on Monday, April
19, 2004.
He was born Jan. 4, 1977, in Elkins, the son of Delbert Lee and Mary Louise
Allen Edgell, who survive at Route 2, Belington.
Also surviving are two brothers, James Lee Edgell and Thomas McKinley Edgell and
wife, Laura, and one sister, Delberta Lee George and husband, Alan, all of
Belington; one half sister, Delma Lee Hamilton of Martins Ferry, Ohio; three
nephews, Alan George Jr., Joshua George and Thomas McKinley Edgell Jr.; one
stepniece, Talitha Fortney; and his maternal grandparents, Freddie and Martha
Allen of Belington.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George and Delma Edgell.
Mr. Edgell was self-employed as a handyman.
Friends may call at the Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 7
p.m. until 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, when funeral
services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Joseph

Billie G. Edwards
Billie Gladwell Edwards, 68, of Costa Mesa, Calif., departed this life on
Sunday, April 18, 2004.
She was born in Randolph County, the youngest daughter of Rexell and Janet
Chandler Gladwell.
She is survived by four daughters, Kimberly Edwards Christensen and husband,
Kelly, of Costa Mesa, Calif., Lee Ann Edwards Adams and husband, Matthew, of
Riverside, Calif., Barbara Edwards Gladle and husband, Frederick, of Austin,
Texas, and Paula Edwards Rogers and husband, Phillip, of Collierville, Tenn.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren; two sisters, Pat Phares of Elkins
and Paula Motter of Olyphant, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held April 24 in Costa Mesa, Calif. Interment will be at
Indian Camp Cemetery in Upshur County on Saturday. The Rev. Frederick Valentine
will officiate. Friends may call at 1521 S. Henry Ave. in Elkins from 3 p.m. to

Marie B. Edwards
Marie B. Edwards, 90, who lived most of her life at Century No. 1 and a
resident of Tenney’s Mobile Home Park in Buckhannon, died Thursday, July 15,
2004, at her home.
She was born Feb. 6, 1914, n Vandalia, the daughter of the late John Pullin and
Ivy Hyre Pullin.
On Aug. 13, 1932, she was married to Clayton Thomas Edwards, who died Dec. 5,
1979.
Surviving are four daughters, Eleanor Burr, Shirley Schudel, Judy Eidman and
Christine Payne, all of Buckhannon; two sons, David Edwards of Buckhannon and
Raymond Edwards of Century; two sisters, Ruby Hall of Buckhannon and Evalee Burk
of Baltimore, Md.; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; four
great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Clayton Thomas Edwards Jr.; one grandson,
Mark Schudel; three sisters and three brothers.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith. She was a member of the Veterans
of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and Eagles Ladies
Auxiliary.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today
at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 2 p.m.

Sylvia H. Edwards
Sylvia H. Edwards, 88, of Cleveland Ave., Buckhannon, died Sunday, Jan. 11,
2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born Aug. 12, 1915, at Kingwood, the daughter of the late William C.
Hawkins and Katherine Hawley Hawkins.
She was married Dec. 11, 1937, to Virgil R. Edwards, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Neil S. Edwards of Buckhannon; one brother and
sister-in-law, Donald and Jean Hawkins of Sykesville, Md.; and several nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six
brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Edwards retired in 1981 as secretary and bookkeeper for the Area Agency on
Aging.
She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and the American
Association of Retired Persons Senior Citizens.
She attended the local schools of Upshur County and was a graduate of Strayers
Business College in Baltimore, Md.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Heavner &
Cutright Funeral Chapel where services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment

Florence E. Eliott
Florence E. Eliott died March 3, 2004, in Newport News, Va..
She retired in 1980 from the Nursing Department of West Virginia Wesleyan
College, concluding a 40-year career in the field of education for professional
nurses as a teacher, administrator and consultant.
She held degrees from Sullins College in Virginia, the University of Virginia
and Columbia University. She was a member of Sigma Theta Tau, international
professional honor society and had been a member of Zonta Clubs of Pittsburgh,
Pa., and Portland, Ore., as well as the Business and Professional Womens Club of
Buckhannon and the Kappa Delta social sorority.
Born in Denver and raised in Ohio, she is survived by two cousins in Florida and
in the home town of Warren, Ohio.
Interment will be in the family plot in Warren. It is suggested that memorial
gifts be made to the Florence Eliott Scholarship Fund at West Virginia Wesleyan.

Blanche E. Elmore
Blanche E. Elmore, 82, of 302 Nona St., Buckhannon, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004,
at her home.
She was born Sept. 26, 1921, at Walton, the daughter of the late Clinton Mayford
Hively and Eva E. Patrick Hively.
On Aug. 6, 1936, she was married to Perry French Elmore, who died on Nov. 17,
1987.
Surviving are four sons, David Elmore and wife, Ann, of Rock Cave, Don Elmore
and wife, Debbie, of Buckhannon, Joe Elmore and wife, Marlene, of Rock Cave, and
Kenneth Elmore and wife, Connie, of Ravenswood; four daughters, Betty Cinalli
and husband, Danny, of Buckhannon, Norma McDaniels of Bartow, Mary Perry and
husband, Arnett, of Buckhannon and Barbara Wade and husband, Darrell, of
Liverpool; one brother, Emmit Hively of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three sisters, Dessie
Brisendine of Walton, Wilma Jean Lambert of Clendenin and Thelma Summers of
Walton; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Phillip Wayne Elmore; and several brothers
and sisters.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

James Elmore, a resident of the Jimtown community, passed away Thursday, July
22, 2004, at his home.

James Elmore
James Lee “Big Jim” Elmore, 66, a resident of the Jimtown community, passed
away Thursday, July 22, 2004, at his home following an extended illness.
He had received services from Hospice Care Corp.
He was born March 14, 1938, at Mabie, a son of the late Alston Theodore and
Virga Mae Bender Elmore.
On Dec. 22, 1958, in Yokahama, Japan, he was married to the former Sumiko Izumi,
who survives at Jimtown.
Also surviving are five sons, Danney Neal Elmore of Elkins, David Lee Elmore of
Kerens, Timothy “Bunji” Elmore of Norton, Michael Ray Elmore of Belington,
and James Arnold Elmore of Lewisburg, Ohio; two daughters, Brenda Lee Volentir
and Peggy Gay Phillips of Coalton; three brothers, Robert Elmore of Mineral
Bluff, Ga., Albert Elmore of Abington, Md., and John Elmore of Bel Camp, Md.;
and 18 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two sisters, Susan and Anna Mae Elmore, and one
brother, William Elmore.
Mr. Elmore was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, where he attained the rank of
sargeant. He worked for the Yellow Freight Co. as a truck driver prior to his
retirement and was the propreitor of Big Jim’s Country Store at Norton.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in
Elkins. Funeral services wil be held at 1 p.m. Monday from the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Ron Nestor officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowan

Keith A. Elrod, 47, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday,
June 13, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Lloyd Melvin Elrod.
Keith attended West Virginia University and was a 26-year employee of the Kroger
Co. His last responsibility with Kroger was that of store manager at the
Tanglewood store.
Keith was an active supporter of his daughters’ softball, basketball and
soccer teams.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Whiteman Elrod; two daughters, Jennifer Elaine
Elrod and Andrea Catherine Elrod, both at home; his mother, Eleanor Elaine Keith

Carl Embeck
Carl William Embeck, 88, a resident of 4 Bell St., Elkins, and more recently a
resident of Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs, departed this life
Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2004, at Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in
declining health.
He was born Saturday, Oct. 23, 1915, at Ellamore, the son of the late George W.
and Hattie Embeck. During 1945, he was married to the former Irene Mary Judy,
who preceded him in death on June 5, 2003.
Surviving are one brother-in-law, Glen D. Judy and wife, Dottie, of Elkins; and
several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were one son, Donald Carl
Embeck; one brother, Raymond; and one sister, Arbutus.
He attended the schools at Ellamore and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving
during World War II.
He had worked for the former Elkins Tannery, worked for the Kelly Foundry for
many years from which he retired, and had worked as a carrier for The
Inter-Mountain. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved sports and NASCAR.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on
Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. A.H. Belt will
officiate and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at

Eugene F. Endler
Eugene F. Endler, 84, of Belington, formerly of Fairmont, passed away Sunday,
Jan. 25, 2004, at the Broaddus Hospital in Philippi.
He was born March 15, 1919, in Grant Town, the son of the late Louis and Frances
Pasterski Endler.
Eugene was a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington
for the past 16 months.
He was formerly employed as a mechanic for the Army Department of Transportation
at Fort Eustis in Newport News, Va.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont where
he was a member of the church choir. He was also a former member of the Elks and
the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Deblasio Endler of Belington; one son and
daughter-in-law, Louis and Donna Endler, also of Belington; one sister, Norma
Jean Greco of Salem, Ore.; and one grandson, Graham Endler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Angelina
Martello Endler, in 1978; one sister, Jane O’Mara; and one brother, Richard M.
Endler.
Friends may call at the Domico Funeral Home in Fairmont from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.
today with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at

Dennis L. England
Dennis L. England, the son of Robert and Mary Lou England of Elkins, departed
this life to live with His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Nov. 8, 2004 at his
home in Atascadero, Calif. He had been in declining health but death was sudden
and unexpected.
He was born Sunday, Oct. 1, 1950 at Parsons. He attended school there as well as
the schools of Mentor, Ohio where he graduated from Mentor High School. Upon
graduation he joined the United States Navy and was stationed in California. He
also served a tour of duty in Vietnam.
While in California he met and married the love of his life Vickie Bonnett who
survives in Atascadero with their son and daughter in law, Cletus and Joanna
England.
Denny was a respected and well-loved eighth grade teacher at Flamson Middle
School in Paso Robles, Calif. He was also the leader of the schools bible group
and encouraged the students there to use his classroom at lunchtime for prayer.
He had a sense of humor that touched the hearts and lives of all that knew him.
He lived with an honorable determination to make life the very best that he
could not just for himself but also for those around him. He loved his family
and his friends deeply.
Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters; Steven and Patricia England,
Concord, Ohio, Connie and Kevin Gainer, Kerens, Randy England and Lana Butcher,
Elkins and Donna and James Jeffries, Montrose. He also has several nieces and
nephews that he loved dearly.
A memorial service is scheduled in his honor for Saturday, at 2 p.m. at The
Refuge Church at Gilman with the Rev. Kevin Gainer officiating. The family

Wilbert O. England
Wilbert Oliver England, 90, a resident of Route 1, Belington, passed away
Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, in the Barbour County Good Samaritan.
He was born Feb. 4, 1914, in Belington, a son of the late Draper and Katherine
M. Werner England.
He was united in marriage Dec. 16, 1939, to Agnes L. Burner England, who
survives.
Also surviving are, one daughter, Katherine E. White and husband, Chester, of
Belington; one son, Lowell E. England and wife, Linda, of Belington; two
grandchildren, Evelyn Ash and husband, Tom, of Junior and Crystal Tenney and
husband, Alvin, of Belington; and five great-grandchildren, William Chester
“WC” Thompson, Holly K. Thompson, Charles Robert “Chuck” Thompson,
Joshua Alan Weese and Brooke Elizabeth Weese.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Steven Holt England, Walter John
England and David Paul England; and four sisters, Beulah Tallman, Neva Myers,
Ola Cathell and Ada Smith.
He worked for Wilmoth Lumber, Soil Conservation Services and Ray Ware Lumber Co.
He was a licensed jeweler in his home, served three terms on the advisory board
of Tri-County School at Buckhannon and he was one of those who assisted Tom
Harward in establishing the Belington Medical Clinic, where he served on the
board of directors. He was also a volunteer with the Belington Emergency Squad.
He was a member of the Belington Lodge IOOF 73 and served in various offices. He
was a member of Grace Chapel Church and served as teacher, pianist,
superintendent, song leader and other offices on the United Methodist
conference.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today with the Belington Lodge IOOF 73 conducting a
memorial at 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to noon Thursday at which time he will be
moved to Grace Chapel Church to lie in state from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the service
hour. The Rev. Donald Fitzwater and the Rev. Destry Daniels will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family
has requested memorial contributions be made to the Grace Chapel United

John H. Ernest Jr.
John H. “Jack” Ernest Jr., 70, of Point Marion, Pa., died Thursday, Sept.
23, 2004, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1934, in Elkins, the son of the late John H. Ernest Sr.
and Kathleen Weese Ernest.
He was a retired U.S. Postal Service letter carrier in the Morgantown post
office. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Local
783.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served as a master sergeant in the U.S.
Air Force. He was a graduate of Morgantown High School class of 1952.
He was a member of the Point Marion Veterans of Foreign Wars, Point Marion
Eagles Club and their Golf League.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Cain Ernest, with whom he would have
celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary on Nov. 30, 2004; one daughter, Debbie
McNamara and her husband, Dennis, Peters Township, Pa.; one son, Doug Ernest and
wife, Jennifer, of Beckley; six grandchildren, Shannon, Ryan, Molly and Conor
McNamara and Emily and Douglas Ernest; and one brother, Don Ernest of Colorado.
Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, George and Shirley
Butterworth, Point Marion, Pa., Richard and Bonnie Cain of Morgantown, Bill and
Lynn Cain of Princess Anne, Md., and George and Bonny Cain of Seaford, Del.
Jack enjoyed numerous outdoor activities such as golfing with his wife and
friends, camping and fishing with his family and following his beloved West
Virginia University Mountaineers.

Bruce L. Ervin
Bruce L. Ervin, 85, a resident of Toronto, Ohio, passed away Monday, July 5,
2004, in the Trinity Medical Center West, Steubenville, Ohio.
He was born Aug. 17, 1918, at Belington, the son of the late Claude Odin and
Mabel Claire Lambert Ervin.
His wife of 46 years, the former Barbara Perks, whom he married on April 11,
1958, survives at their home in Toronto, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Robert Charles Ervin of
Steubenville, Ohio; one daughter, Rosa Carol Ervin of Toronto, Ohio; one
brother, Harrison Cleveland Ervin of Harrisonburg, Va.; two grandsons,
Christopher Goodrich of Cedar Hill, Texas, and Jonathan Goodrich of Great Lakes,
Ill.; and one great-grandson, Jonathan James Goodrich of Toronto, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse Preston Ervin, Samuel Odel
Ervin and Bernard Wilson Ervin; one sister, Juanita Lee Wagner; and two sons,
Thomas and Joseph Ervin.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Toronto, a member of
the Parish Council, Adoration Chapel, Holy Name Society, and served as church
lector and Eucharistic minister.
He was a member of the Toronto Knights of Columbus Council No. 8137.
He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War
II.
He earned a bachelor’s degree from Madison College in Virginia and two master’s
degrees from West Virginia University.
He taught at Belington High School for 10 years. After moving to Ohio he worked
as a juvenile parole officer. He then worked for Jefferson County Children’s
Services and retired from the Brooke and Hancock Mental Health Board. Upon
retiring he spent many years tending the Laundromat on Findley Street in
Toronto.
Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St.,
Philippi, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. Graveside services will be conducted
at 10 a.m. Friday at the Belington Fraternal Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. Damian
T. Drass officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by American Legion
Post No. 44. Memorial donations may be made in Bruce’s name to St. Francis

Kenneth Eshbaugh
Kenneth Albert Eshbaugh, 72 , a resident of 160 Delaware Ave., and for the past
several weeks a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home, Elkins, departed this life
on Wednesday morning, Oct. 20, 2004, at the home. He had been in declining
health, however, death was unexpected.

“Max” Eshbaugh
Kenneth Albert “Max” Eshbaugh, 72, a resident of 160 Delaware Ave., Elkins,
and more recently, a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home at Crystal Springs, went
home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at the home. He had been in
declining health, however, death was unexpected.
He was born Wednesday, June 15, 1932, at Brookville, Pa., the son of the late
James and Lois Eshbaugh.
On Nov. 28, 1964, at Elkins, he was united in marriage to the former Mamie
Cathleen Hedrick-Sampson, who survives.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Richard Sampson and wife, Sandra, of Beverly,
and Jeffrey Sampson of Elkins; four brothers, Robert Eshbaugh of Sharon, Pa.,
Clinton and Harold Eshbaugh, both of Brookville, Pa., and James Eshbaugh of
Youngstown, Ohio; eight stepgrandchildren; 15 stepgreat-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were one daughter, Lois Ann Eshbaugh;
one sister, Lois Eshbaugh; one stepson, Ronald Sampson; two stepdaughters, Mrs.
Ralph (Sandra Kay) Rohr and Mrs. Wesley Leon (Cheryl Diane) Swecker; and three
stepgrandsons, Edward and Steven Rohr and Mikie Swecker.
Max served his tour of duty in Korea with the U.S. Army and served with the
Military Police.
He worked for several years at the Youngstown Steel Door Co. of Youngstown,
Ohio, before moving to West Virginia. He was employed by the city of Elkins as a
heavy equipment operator for 14 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, walking and reading, especially the Bible, and
he loved his church. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Max will be missed by all who knew him.
Final rites will be conducted at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on
Sunday at 3 p.m. The Rev. Don Jacko will officiate and interment will follow at
the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale where full

Clarice M. Evans
Clarice Mae Evans, 76, of Maysville, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at the Grant
County Nursing Home in Petersburg.
Visitation was Sunday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home where funeral services were
at 11 a.m. today. Interment was in Maysville Cemetery. From 26 Jan 2004.
Elizabeth Evans
Elizabeth Ruth “Betty” Evans, 60 , a resident of the Leadmine community, St.
George, departed this life Thursday evening, Sept. 9, 2004, at Ruby Memorial
Hospital at Morgantown. Death was attributed to cancer.
She was born, Jan. 19, 1944, at Kingwood, the daughter of Willard S. and Mildred
Stemple Shaffer, who survive in Elkins.
On May 28, 1961, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Phares Oliver Evans, who
survives at Leadmine.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Lynn Evans of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Mark
Lewis Evans and wife, Michelle, of Bethel Park, Pa.; two brothers, Willard
“Sam” Shaffer Jr. and wife, Rose, and David Shaffer and wife, Gail, all of
Elkins; five sisters, Helen Calain and husband, Jim, of Friendsville, Md.,
Martha Shorter of Middletown, N.Y., Barbara Wieese and husband, Gary, of
Glenburnie, Md., Joan Vance and husband, Tom, of Frankfort, and Denise Roth and
Terrill of Elkins; two grandsons Patrick Harris of Starksville, Miss., and Ian
Evans of Bethel Park, Pa., and one granddaughter, Meghan Evans of Bethel Park,
Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1961. She was
instrumental in starting the Thrift Shop at Parsons. She had taken an active
part in the Relay for Life.
She was a member of the Leadmine United Methodist Church, a member of the
Leadmine United Methodist Women and the choir. She was an avid gardener and she
loved her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons
from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral
home parlor at 1 p.m. Sunday. Pastor Robert Leard will officiate and interment

Keith R. Evans
Keith Richard Evans, 71, of Parsons, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at his
residence.
He was born Feb. 25, 1933, the only child of Elmer Keith and Odessa Florence
Henline Evans.
He was never married and had no children.
He is survived by one uncle, Charles Evans of Leadmine; one aunt, Orpha Dove of
Thomas; and several cousins.
He was a farmer and Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
with the Rev. Neil Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in Shaffertown

Ronald L. Everett
Ronald Lee Everett, 70, a resident of Flanagan Street in Belington and for the
past several months a resident of the Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs,
departed this life at 12:35 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2004, at the nursing
facility. He had been in declining health for quite some time.
He was born Feb. 28, 1934, at Barbour County, the son of the late Andrew and
Virginia Conte Everitt.
On May 24, 1990, he was united in marriage to the former Lona Higgins, who
survives at their home on Flanagan Street in Belington.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Connie Jean Spencer
and Sherry Young both of Belington; his stepmother, Jean Everitt of Belington;
two sisters, Shirley Day of Wexford Pa., and Carolyn Simon of Belington; and two
brothers, George Everitt of Quiet Dell and Andrew P. Everitt of Akron.
Six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepdaughter, Linda
Vanpelt Ross.
Mr. Everett attended the schools of Barbour County and was a veteran of the U.S.
Army. Before his retirement he had worked for the city of Belington, the Howard
Harper Construction Co.,where he ran heavy equipment, and was last employed by
C&W Coal where he worked as a mechanic.
He was a Nazarene by faith.
Friends were received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9
p.m. Sunday and until 11 a.m. today, the funeral hour when services were
conducted from the funeral home parlor with the Rev. F.L. Wink McQuain
officiating. The American Legion Post No. 44 of Philippi presented the American
flag following services. Cremation will follow and interment will be at a later

Vivian Everson
Vivian Everson, 63, a resident of Route 2, Point Pleasant Rd., Belington,
passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.
She was born May 18, 1941, in Belington, a daughter of the late Ira Camden and
Odie Right Biller.
She was united in marriage March 3, 1973, to A. Duwayne Everson.
Also surviving are one son, Ronald Everson of Belington; four sisters, Oelta
Canfield of Texas, Betty Long of Hambleton, Juanita Weese of Maryland and Martha
Harris of Elkins; two brothers, Robert Biller of Wythville, Va. and Howard
Biller of Elkins; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene Fredrick, one sister, Mary
Katherine Ross, and one brother, Marvin Biller.
She was a homemaker and a member of Belington Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home at 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi
from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and until 1 p.m. Tuesday, the service hour, with
Evangelist Mike Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Barbour Memorial
