Juanita Dadisman
Juanita Daugherty Dadisman, 85, departed this life Friday, July 4, 2003, surrounded by her family.
She was born March 16, 1918, at Independence community, a daughter of the late Scymour and Sylvia (Burner) Daugherty.
She was united in marriage on Nov. 7, 1936, to James T. Dadisman, who preceded her in death on June 23, 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas G. Dadisman of Grafton, and Roy Dadisman of Philippi; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and husband, Larry Corley, of Philippi, and Sheila and husband, Henry Daugherty, of Philippi; one daughter-in-law, Saundra Dadisman of Philippi; two sisters, Dorothy Greer, Lawton, Okla., and Faye Morrell, Warren, Ohio; and 18 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Burton and Seymour Daugherty; four sisters, Margaret, Josephine, Norma Jean and Euldene Daugherty; one son, Kenneth Dadisman; and one daughter-in-law, Barbara Dadisman.
She retired from the old Broaddus Hospital as a nurse assistant. She was a founding member of the Independence Church of Christ and was a member of the Union Church of Christ. She was a member of the Union Sew-n-Sews and the Union Senior Citizens. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and gardening.
The family received friends at the Dadisman residence after 10 a.m. today until noon on Tuesday, at which time Mrs. Dadisman will be moved to the Union Church of Christ for services at 2 p.m. with Evangelist Emanuel Daugherty officiating. Interment will follow in Pitman Cemetery.   From 7 July 2003.

Juanita Daugherty Dadisman, 85, departed this life Friday, July 4, 2003, surrounded by her family.

Rosie Daff
Rosie Daff, 96, a former resident of Beverly and a resident of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past several years, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room.
Born March 28, 1907, in Randolph County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Eye Howell and Emma Jane Eye Howell.
She was united in marriage to Otto E. Daff, who preceded her in death in 1974.

Joanna Dahlheim
Joanna Dahlheim, 70, of 13 Halifax Drive, Buckhannon, died Thursday, April 24, 2003, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born Feb. 15, 1933, a daughter of Jane Brabham O’Neil, who survives in Parkersburg, and the late Leslie Smith.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two daughters, Pamela and husband, Joseph McCourt, Tallmansville, and Teena and husband, Todd Miller, Buckhannon; five sons, Ronnie and wife, Cindy Jackson, Cheyenne, Johnny and wife, Barbara Jackson, Moorefield, Robert and wife, Tish Jackson, Hodgesville, Brad Dahlheim, Dunbar, and William Dahlheim III and wife, Peggy, Buckhannon; one brother, Leonard Parsons, Parkersburg; two sisters, Pasty Plauche, Parkersburg, and Sue Preston, Florida; 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Dahlheim.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Sand Run Baptist Church.

Pearl Lorraine Resides Dahlin, 86, a former resident of Findley Street and a patient of Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the center.

Pearl L. Dahlin
Pearl Lorraine Resides Dahlin, 86, a former resident of Findley Street and a patient in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, passed away at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the center.
She was born March 30, 1916, at Phillipsburg, Pa., a daughter of the late Joseph Resides and Cora Willemina Hoover Eddington Resides.
On Jan. 30, 1932, at Woodstock, Va., she was married to Robert Alexander Dahlin, who preceded her in death on July 7, 2001.
Surviving are one son, Robert Dahlin II of Kingsport, Tenn.; three daughters, Patricia Pritt of Elkins, Janet LaFollette of Clarksburg, and Ruthann Morgenroth of Stroudsburg, Pa. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Dorothy Holden and Mary Murphy.
Mrs. Dahlin had worked as a cook at the Memorial General Hospital Snack Shop prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club and enjoyed painting and gardening. She was a member of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church and Circle No. 6 of the church.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James R. Dalton
James R. “Uke” Dalton, 67, of Route 1, Moatsville, was dead on arrival at the Broaddus Hospital on Saturday afternoon, March 29, 2003, following a sudden and unexpected illness.
He was born June 30, 1935, at Brownton, Barbour County, the son of the late James William and Myrtle Virginia Kennedy Dalton.
His wife, the former Helen Marie Shanabarger, preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 1973.
Surviving are three daughters, Julia Sue Cutright and husband, Bill, Brenda Jean Dalton and companion, Tommy Mayle, all of Moatsville, and Barbara Lynn Mayle and husband, Gene, of Philippi; two sons, John Gregory Dalton and William Riley “Jack” Dalton and companion, “Sissy,” all of Philippi; two brothers, Andrew H. “Ank” Dalton of Grafton, and Holly E. Dalton of Carrollton, Ohio; four sisters, Mary “Dollie” Garland and Brenda Joyce “Bo” Mayle, both of Kissimmee, Fla., Martha “Jean” Wells of Virginia and Myrtle R. “Cude” Croston of Columbus, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Eddie Dalton, Dawn Kennedy, Tommy Dalton, Jamie Mayle, Jeanna Mayle, Heather Dalton, Jennifer Mayle, Brent and Sabrina Dalton, Jenny Miller and Amanda Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Destiny, Kayla, Angel F., Kyra, Eddie Jr., Timmy, Victoria and Anjewl M.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Hilda Chaney; by one half brother, Buster Dalton; and by one great-granddaughter, Helen Rosalee Dalton.
Mr. Dalton was a retired construction laborer. He was an avid outdoorsman with many friends and also enjoyed watching sports on television. He was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Friends may call at the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Eugene J. Daniels
Eugene James “E.J.” Daniels, 8, of Broadway, Va., died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his home.
He was born March 2, 1995, in Harrisonburg, Va., a son of Jim and Kelly Daniels of Broadway, Va.
He was a second-grade student at Lacey Springs Elementary School and a member of Cedar Grove Church of the Brethren in New Market, Va.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by one sister, Angel Lynn Daniels of Broadway, Va.; one brother, Jesse Lewis Daniels of Sundance Forest; his paternal grandparents, Mike and Judy Painter of Timberville, Va.; his maternal grandparents, Eugene and Irene Ferrell of Mill Creek; and numerous aunts, uncles, and very special cousins, whom he loved very much.
He also leaves behind many special friends from his school and church. He was a well-liked student and friend to many. And to all who knew him, they grew strength in seeing his warm bright smile everyday. His energy, intelligence and strength were a true blessing and inspiration to the many lives he touched.
E.J. — a special little boy who will be truly missed by many.

Mary H. Daniels
Mary Hinzman Wamsley Daniels, 97, a former resident of Valley Bend, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center.
She was born Nov. 14, 1905, at Dailey, a daughter of the late George Edward and Margaret Chewning Hinzman.
On Oct. 25, 1932, she was married to Thomas Andrew Wamsley, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1951. On Dec. 19, 1953, she was married to Gordon C. Daniels, who preceded her in death on May 22, 1988.
She is survived by one son, Andy Wamsley and wife, Janice, with whom she lived for the past 15 years; a stepdaughter, Dortha of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; one brother, the Rev. Parker Hinzman, Winchester, Va.; one sister, Opal Rhea of Beverly; four grandchildren, Tom Wamsley and wife, Jane, Cheri Shiflett and husband, Garry, Steve Wamsley and wife, Lisa, and Marc Wamsley and wife, Amie; four stepgrandchildren, Ellen Gum, Polly Gum, Helen Kennedy and husband, Wayne, and Alonzo Snelson; and eight great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were six brothers, Joe, Dick, Bill, Glenn, Paul and Ray Hinzman; one sister, Peg Cost; and three stepgrandchildren.
Mrs. Daniels was the last surviving member of the first graduating class of Tygarts Valley High School in 1924. She began teaching at the one room Steiner School at Dailey. She went on to teach for 33 years at Shavers Run, Bradley, Oak Grove, Mingo, Elliots Ridge and Homestead schools. She was a 1950 graduate of Davis & Elkins College and for 18 years served on the Randolph County Democratic Executive Committee.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens. Thomas E. Daniels
Thomas Eugene Daniels, 73, of Front Royal, Va., died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Winchester Medical Center in Winchester, Va.
The family will receive friends from noon Tuesday at the Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg until the time of service at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. David H. Blackwell and interment will be in the Daniels Family Cemetery in Dorcas.  From 5 May 2003.

Virginia Daniels
Virginia Daniels, 91, a former resident of Central Street and more recently a resident of Colonial Place, passed away Saturday morning, Oct. 4, 2003, at Colonial Place.
She was born June 8, 1912, at Gassaway, the daughter of the late George F. Purkey and Gettie Lee Vance Purkey.
She was married to Ivan R. Daniels, who preceded in death May 7, 1994.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Margaret Elizabeth Daniels of LaVale, Md.; three grandchildren, James Ivan Daniels of New Creek, Robert Charles Daniels of Cumberland, Md., and Cynthia Elizabeth Frost of LaVale, Md.; and five great-grandchildren, Kyler Daniels, James Daniels, Dylan Frost, Madison Stevens and Allen Stevens.
Preceding her in death were one son, Ivan L. Daniels; one sister, Margaret Walsh; and two brothers, Harry and Walter Purkey.
Virginia was multi-talented in handcrafts, quilting and knitting. She was an excellent homemaker and an avid cook and enjoyed sharing food with her friends and relatives.
She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62. She was a member of the Degree of Honor and the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church of Elkins.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. At 7:30 p.m. today, members of the Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star will conduct a memorial service at the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Donald L. Lockhart officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Betty E. Daugherty
Betty E. Daugherty, 75, a resident of 500 Market St., Grafton, and a former resident of Route 1, Box 319, Philippi, passed away at 1:15 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2003, at the Wallace B. Murphy Nursing Home.
She was born March 30, 1928, in Belington, a daughter of the late Henry and Maryetta Wolfe Harris. She was united in marriage to Eugene Daugherty.
Surviving her are one daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Robert Shahan of Philippi; four sons, Davis Farris of Oregon, Tom Farris of Florida, Virgil Daugherty of Philippi, and Michael Daugherty, U.S. Air Force, of Wyoming; two sisters, Alma Ware and Maude Harris of Belington; two brothers, Eugene and Herman Harris of Belington; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Bessie Delauder, Minnie Wilson, Mildred McCulla and Mary Farris; and four brothers, Clarence Harris, Clifford Harris, Richard Harris and George Harris.
She was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the Union Church of Christ.
Friends will be received after 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi. The service hour will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. F.L. “Wink” McQuain officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley Bend Cemetery.  From 10 Jun 2003.

Gertrude C. Daugherty
Gertrude C. Daugherty, 97, a resident of Route 4, Union community, Philippi, passed away at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, in Mary Carder Personal Care Home following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 1, 1906, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late James and Alice Lou (Golden) Pitman.
She was united in marriage on Sept. 22, 1920, to Charles H. Daugherty, who preceded her in death on June 16, 1977.
Surviving are one son, Homer Junior Daugherty, Union community, Philippi; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, five brothers, three grandchildren and two sons, Harold Daugherty and Bobby Lee Daugherty.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Union Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 7 p.m. today, from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, the funeral hour. Cinderella Davidson
Cinderella Davidson, 93, of Route 3, Box 219, Buckhannon, died Monday, April 7, 2003, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born July 30, 1909, in Braxton County, a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Hallie Shock Teter.
On May 15, 1933, she married W.C. “Jake” Davidson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1983.
Surviving are two sons, John Edward Davidson and wife, Betty Jo, Buckhannon, and Kenny Davidson and wife, Charlotte, Buckhannon; two daughters, Mary Ellen Davidson and Hallie Hurst and husband, Jim, all of Buckhannon; one sister, Katherine Thacker and husband, Jim, Charleston; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Billy Jake Davidson; two brothers, Dice Teter and Robert Teter; and one sister, Mary Bennett.
She was a school teacher for Upshur County Board of Education. She was a life member of Aletha Chapter 82, Rock Cave Order Eastern Star, and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority. She graduated from Upshur County High School in 1929 and graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1964 at the age of 56. She taught for 19 years at Gaines, Tallmansville and Hampton schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Friday she will be moved to First Baptist Church, where she will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Cliff Sutherland officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Community Cemetery. Aletha Chapter 82 Rock Cave Chapter Order Eastern Star will hold memorial services at 7 p.m. Thursday.   From 9 Apr 2003.

George L. Davidson
George L. Davidson, 73, a resident of 110 Valley Court in Elkins, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health.

George L. Davidson
George Lambie Davidson, 73, a resident of 110 Valley Court, Elkins, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Nov. 18, 2003, at the Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health.
He was born Sunday, Oct. 5, 1930, at Charleston, the son of the late George W. Davidson and Bessie Morrison Lambie Davidson.
On Oct. 2, 1997, he was married to the former Irene Carol Goode, who survives at Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, Bruce Cameron Davidson of Arlington, Va., and James Michael Bennett and wife, Christine, of Frazier’s Bottom; two daughters, Diana Davidson of Lutz, Fla., and Lisa Ann Fitzgibbon and husband, Michael, of Jackson, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Linda Haught Harless and husband, Phillip, of Placentia, Calif., and Rebecca Haught Bailey and husband, David, of St. Albans; two sisters, Carol Bescanson and Deborah Thevenin, both of Florida; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Davidson attended the schools of Charleston and several specialized training schools. He served with the U.S. Army as an artillery officer during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for IBM and served as a state government specialist for the 3M Co., working in Information Management Systems when he retired in 1992.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Charleston.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Tygart Valley Post 3647, Veterans of Foreign Wars, P.O. Box 862, Elkins, W.Va. 26241 or to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 187, Grafton, W.Va. 26354. Aaron "Hippie Lee Davis, 24, of Bartow, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2003. 
He was born Sept 2, 1979, at Elkins, the son of Sharon Miller of Garretsville, ohio, and Roger Lee Davis of Bartow.

Annie E. Davis
Annie Evadot “Eva” Davis, 75, a resident of the Rosendorf community, Hendricks, and more recently a resident of the Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, departed this life early Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, 2003, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health for the past five years and death was attributed to a stroke.
She was born Jan. 6, 1928, at Jordan Run, Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Arnold Rohrbaugh and Ollie Berg Rohrbaugh.
On Nov. 21, 1948, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Junior H. Davis, who survives at Hendricks. They had celebrated 54 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, Arthur Junior “Punk” Davis and wife, Eva, Hambleton; one daughter, Vickie Jean Cummings Hedrick, St. George; one brother, George F. Rohrbaugh, Crellin, Md.; two sisters, Ammajean “Pete” Metheny, Windham, Ohio, and Maxine Gank, Mt. Lake Park, Md.; four grandchildren, Kevin Scott Cummings, St. George, Harrison Dale “Hooper” Cummings, Hambleton, Juanita “Jay” Wilfong and husband George, St. George, and Christina Davis, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Coy Cummings, St. George, Alex Cummings and Cameron Cummings, both of Parsons.
Preceding her in death are one brother, John Rohrbaugh; and one sister, Louise.
She attended the schools at Mt. Storm. She was a homemaker. She was seamstress and an excellent cook. She was a member of the Parsons Church of God.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Eli Hostetler will officiate and interment will follow at McNeeley Cemetery at Hendricks. Jarrett B. Davis
Jarrett Blaine Davis, 13 days old, departed this life Friday evening, Feb. 7, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in his usual health and became critically ill Feb. 3. Death was attributed to sepsis.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, the son of William Ray “Bill” Davis and Heather Ellen Harper Davis, who survive at Parsons.
Also surviving are a half brother, Justin Key Davis of Parsons; his paternal grandparents, John Junior Davis and Clara Margaret “Peggy” Roy Davis of Hambleton; his maternal grandparents, Richard Russell Harper and Pamela Sue Slavin Harper of Parsons; his great-grandparents, Eva Lee Carter and Paul “Sweetie” Harper Sr. and Carol Propst Harper of Moore; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jim Davis
Jim Davis, 63, a resident of the Audra Road in Belington, departed this life in the comforts of his home at 4:07 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2003. He had been in failing health for quite some time and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Oct. 2, 1939, at Belington, the son of the late Arthur and Dorothy Marie Herron Davis.
On Oct. 5, 1998, he was united in marriage to the former Stella Martin, who survives at their home.
He is also survived by two sons, Ricky Dean Davis and Timothy Darl Davis, both of Ft. Myers, Fla.; one daughter, Kathy Sue Rogers and husband, Mark, of Bonita Springs, Fla.; one brother, Pete Davis and wife, Dianne, of Belington; one sister, Connie Harris and husband, Bo, of Elizabeth; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his former wife, Janet Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Davis, who raised him; and one sister, Carolyn Elaine Davis.
Mr. Davis attended the schools of Barbour County and was a graduate of the Belington High School class of 1957. He was formerly employed as a foreman with the Norton Co. in Akron, Ohio, retiring in 1991 after 21 years of service. He faithfully attended the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday until noon, at which time he will be moved to the Light of Christ Chapel in Belington where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Final rites will be conducted with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in the Lovett Chapel Cemetery near Belington. The family asks in lieu of flowers for memorial contributions be made to the Light of Christ Chapel Building Fund, PO Box 603, Belington, W.Va., 26250, in memory of Mr. Davis. Paul E. Davis
Paul Edward Davis, 68, of Akron, Ohio, died Saturday morning, March 1, 2003, in his home.
He was born Sept. 8, 1934, in Whitmer, to the late Harry Durmit Davis and Hazel Virginia (Thompson) Davis.
Also preceding him in death were a sister, Willma Marie Kerns; and a brother, Jackie Davis.
He retired from Asplundh Tree Service in 1997 after 43 years service and was a member of Community Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Doris E. (White) Davis of the home; children, Donna Jean Veppert of Rootstown, Ohio, James E. Davis of Randolph, Ohio, and Ronald L. Davis of North Canton, Ohio; seven loving grandchildren; four sisters, Shelvia Arbogast, Rosalie Kerns, of Harman, Juanita Opphlie of Akron, Ohio, and Connie Lutz of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; two brothers, Billy Davis of Tunnelton, and Lonnie Davis of Akron, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Karlo-Feucht Funeral Home, 5000 Everhard Rd. N.W., Canton, Ohio, with Pastor Paul Bloom officiating. Burial was in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends were received at the funeral home.  From 15 Mar 2003. 

Vallie E. Davis
Vallie Esther Davis, 67, of Woodbine, Md., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at the home of her son, Robert, after an extended illness.
She was born April 7, 1935, in Randolph County, a daughter of the late Luther J. and Opal Tinger Summerfield.
She was married to William Harvey Davis III, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one daughter and one-in-law, Rose Ann Davis Kraft and George Kraft of Jessup, Md.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William H. Davis IV of California, Md., and Robert H. and Claudia Davis of Woodbine, Md.; one grandson, Christopher Newman of Jessup, Md.; one brother, Luther H. Summerfield of Cedar Creek, Mo.; and three sisters, Nancy Johnson of Randallstown, Md., Mary Fillipelli of Beaver Falls, Pa., and Jane Golliday of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by one son, Scott Andrew Davis; one sister, Florence Mastrogiuseppe; and one brother, Roy Summerfield.
There will be no public visitations. Danny William Day, 48, a resident of the Blackman Flats community, Parsons, departed this life Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at his home. He had been in declining health.
He was born Aug. 30, 1954, a son of the late Warren Kelly Day and Marie Corbett Day.
Surving are one daughter, Holly Day, Ohio; one sister, Dr. Donna Gutshall and husband, David, Spartanburg, S.C.; his paternal grandmother, Nellie E. Hinkle Day; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Michael Kelly Day; and one sister, Terry Ann Bennett.
He was a 1972 graduate of Parsons High School, of which he was co-captain of the football team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a former employee of the Kingsford Charcoal Company. He was well known among his friends for his musical talent on the spoons and drums. He was an avid outdoorsman.
The family will receive friends at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home today from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral hem parlor Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Henry Lawrence Day
Henry Lawrence Day, 82, a resident of Baltimore, Md., departed this life Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at his home. He had been in declining health for some time.
He was born May 15, 1920, at Elkins, the son of Henry and Mary Susan Lawrence Day.
He was never married.
Mr. Day was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Preceding him in death were his father and mother; one sister, Bertie Day Swick; and one brother, Cecil Day.
Surviving are one niece, Mary Susan Swick Zirkle and husband, Aaron, of Coalton; two great-nephews, Kevin Zirkle and wife, Apryal, and Jeffrey L. Zirkle, all of Coalton; and one great-great-niece, Stacy Zirkle Truman and husband, Daniel, of Elkins.
Mr. Day graduated from Elkins High School in the class of 1938. He was very active in the Elkins High School band.
He attended Davis & Elkins College and worked at the Capitol for years. Larry, as he was known to his friends, took a position with the Army engineers with the War Department in Germany. While there he attended the World Youth Conference in Czechoslovakia, Russia, Greece and other countries.
After returning, he worked for and retired from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad.
He attended the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church in Elkins.
His body was cremated in Baltimore.  From 8 Mar 2003.

Jean Elizabeth Day, 76, of Arthur and Sharpsburg, Md., died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Kohlon J. Degler
Kohlon J. “Kay” Degler, 92, went to be with the Lord at 6:21 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, in Nella’s Nursing Home near Elkins following a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Valdosta, Ga., the daughter of the late John Vinson and Jimmie Fletcher Davis.
She was married to Carl Degler, who preceded her in death.
Surviving is one daughter, Barbara L. Carroll and husband, Donald L. Carroll, Elkins; one sister, Gene Degler, Chiefland, Fla.; three grandchildren, James D. Carroll and wife, Dawn, New London, Conn., Cynthia L. Conway and husband, David, Salem, and Daniel V. Carroll and wife, Chris, Cape Coral, Fla. Seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson also survive.
Also preceding her in death was one grandson, George M. Carroll.
Mrs. Degler was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

Mary Grace Bailor DeHaven, 81, of Durbin, departed this life Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003, at her daughter’s house in Belington after an extended illness.
Mrs. DeHaven was born Nov. 11, 1921, the daughter of the late Calvin and Josie Virginia Simmons Bailor.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong resident of Durbin.
She was married to Gilbert F. DeHaven, who preceded her in death in 1991.
Also preceding her in death were one daughter, Patricia Ann DeHaven; one son, Donald E. DeHaven; four sisters, Ruth Bailor, Florence DeHaven, Ernestine Bailor and Etta Mae Barb; and three brothers, Bill, Carl and Robert Bailor.
Surviving are two daughters, Yvonne “Bonnie” Gray and husband, Bob of Durbin, and Sherry E. Kelley and husband, Bob, of Belington; one son, David DeHaven and wife, Trish, of Durbin; two sisters, Janet Bailor of Durbin and Gladys Martin of Mill Creek; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Goodsell Cemetery. The Rev. David Rittenhouse will officiate and interment will follow.  From 19 Sep 2003.

John W. Delauder
John Wade Delauder, 38, of Stringtown Road, Route 2, Belington, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at his home, following an extended illness.
He was born Jan. 24, 1965, at Elkins, a son of Ruby I. Riffle Delauder, who survives at Belington, and the late Rev. Nelson T. Delauder.
On Oct. 6, 1984, he married the former Brenda Ann Watson, who survives at Stringtown Road, Belington.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lesley Delauder and Amber Delauder, both at home; one son, Dustin Delauder, at home; two brothers, Teddie and wife, Sheila Delauder, and Ronnie and wife, Shirley Delauder, all of Belington; two sisters, Sandra Sue Weaver, Belington, Lisa and husband, John Starkey, Junior; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Delauder was a certified nurses aide. He was a farmer and a former employee of the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center. He was a member of the Gospel Light Tabernacle and was an avid gardener.
Friends may call at Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel in Belington from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Helen M. DePollo
Helen M. DePollo, 87, of Thomas, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2003, at Garrett County Memorial Hospital in Oakland, Md.
She was born July 26, 1916, in Thomas, the daughter of the late Ralph Lewis DePollo Sr. and Mary Mae Wenck DePollo.
She is survived by two sisters, Lucille Watring of Thomas and Gertrude Wilson and husband, Richard, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph L. DePollo Jr.; and one sister, Dorotha DePollo.
Miss DePollo was a veteran of the U.S. Army Nursing Corps and retired as a major with 25 years of service. She served with the 106th Station Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital Unit of Clarksburg.
She was a lifelong member of St. Thomas Catholic Church, the Altar Society and was a longtime member of the Volunteers of Cortland Acres Nursing Home.
Friends will be received at the Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. today with a vigil for the deceased at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Thomas at 10 a.m. Tuesday with Father Lino Ebejer as celebrant. Ralph C. Depoy
Ralph C. Depoy, 74, of Route 2, Adrian, died Friday, Feb. 28, 2003, at Nella’s Inc. Nursing Home in Elkins.
He was born Sept. 23, 1928, in Upshur County, a son of the late Charles C. and Della M. House Depoy.
He was married to Guilda Wilfong Depoy, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one stepson, Michael Wilfong; one sister, Mary Russell of Belvidere, Ill.; and four brothers, Walter Depoy of Alton, Charles Depoy of Alton, William Depoy of Petersburg, Va., and Wesley Depoy of Alexander.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one half sister.
Mr. Depoy was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy for three years and the Air Force for four years and had served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663 of Buckhannon and a lifetime member of the DAV Post 36 of French Creek. He was a Methodist by faith.
Friends were received Sunday at Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home at French Creek. Funeral services were held at the funeral home today at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Conrad Tenney officiating. Robert DePriest
Robert "Bob" DePriest, 83, a resident of the Files Creek Road, Beverly, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2003, at 8:30 p.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past several years, however, his condition had become critical for the past two weeks. Death was attributed to cancer.
Born Jan. 1, 1920, in Greenbrier County, he was the son of the late Ruth DePriest.
Surviving are two daughters, Alisa Zukowski and Renee Buchanan, both of Baltimore, Md.; a stepdaughter, Katrina Sherman of the Highland Park community; and two stepsons, John Lambert of Elkins and Dakota Lynn Sherman of the Highland Park community. Also surviving is a grandson, Clay Phillips.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by a son and brother.
Bob was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army with 31 years of service. He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Conflict. He received over 17 medals and ribbons for his outstanding service to our country. Bob was also wounded while serving his country and he remained patriotic after being discharged.
He was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday after 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Mike House of Elkins will officiate. Interment will follow on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton. Also surviving is a grandson, Clay Phillips, and two granddaughters, Angela Daniels and Karen Sell.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by a son and brother.

Mabel Desch
Mabel Desch, 71, of Mill Creek, formerly of the Avenel Section of Woodbridge, N.J., died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at her son’s home in Iselin, N.J.
She was born in Newark, N.J., and resided in Perth Amboy, N.J., Woodbridge, N.J., and Cliffwood Beach, N.J., before moving to West Virginia in 1991.
Mrs. Desch was employed as a waitress at the Reo Diner and Mayfair
Restaurant in Woodbridge, N.J., for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert P. Desch, in 1987.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Hattersley, and husband, David, of Mill Creek; a son, Herbert "Bart" Desch Jr. and wife, Bonnie, of Iselin, N.J.; a sister, Joan Aiello of Hillside, N.J.; and 10 grandchildren, Jerry Podolsky Jr., Christopher Podolsky, Jennifer Podolsky, Elizabeth Podolsky, Steven Podolsky, Theresa Desch, Christopher Desch, Julia Desch, Shannon Desch and Danielle Desch.

William Dess, 82, of Route 1, Box 219D, French Creek, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born March 29, 1921, in Baltimore, Md., the son of the late William H. Dess and Frances Gabriel Dess.
In 1956, he was married to Thelma Keller Dess, who survives.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara Smith of Parkville, Md.; and seven grandchildren.
He was a draftsman, carpenter and professional artist. He was a member of the Buckhannon Moose Lodge No. 598.
He was a Catholic by faith.

David R. Detamore
David Ray Detamore, 50, of Route 2, Buckhannon, the Little Sand Run community, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, in St. Joseph’s Hospital. He was surrounded by all the family and friends who loved him.
He was born Oct. 26, 1952, in Alton, a son of Lawrence Lee “Punk” Detamore of Alton, and the late Wilda Jean Sandy Detamore.
He was married on May 22, 1976, to Norma Arlene Casto Detamore of Route 2, Buckhannon.
In addition to his father and wife, he is survived by one daughter, Tracy Lynn Dunn and husband, Brian, of Clarksburg; four brothers, Jim Detamore, Lawrence “Bud” Detamore and Donald Detamore and wife, Becky, all of French Creek, and Steve Detamore and wife, Pam, of Petersburg; three sisters, Janice Cutright and husband, Scott, of French Creek, and Virginia Detamore and Vicky Detamore, both of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Dale Detamore.
He was employed by J.F. Allen Co. of Elkins for 27 years, and at the time of his illness he was working as a paving equipment operator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a Baptist by faith.

William Frank “Bill” DeVilder, 78, a resident of Billings Avenue, Parsons, departed this life Wednesday evening, Aug. 13, 2003, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in declining health.
He was born Aug. 30. 1924, at Red Creek, the son of the late William Norton DeVilder and Bertha Ellen Bennett DeVilder.
On Sept. 2, 1956, at Webster Springs, he was married to the former Nola Vieva Martin, who survives at Parsons. They celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one son, William Michael DeVilder and wife, Shelia, of Hambleton; one foster sister, Rebecca Smith Bromell and husband, Ray, of Dallas, Texas; and two grandchildren, Marcy and Daniel Williams, both of Hambleton.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Stemple, Ruth Miller, Eva Sheets and Rosalea Pritt.
Mr. DeVilder was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theatre at Normandy.
He was the department meat manager for the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. of Parsons and retired in 1982 with 35 years of service. He was the owner and operator of the DeVilder Nursery for many years.
He was a former member of the Parsons Chapter No. 39 of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was an avid gardener and a talented woodworker and was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. Justin Daniel DeWalt Sr., 84, of Dryfork, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 28, 1919, in Kitzmiller, Md., a son of the late David Rhyn and Sara Jane Nelson DeWalt.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Margaret Luzier and his second wife, Tacie Hedrick.
He is survived by one son, Gary DeWalt of Waldorf, Md.; one daughter, Sharon Jean Caltrider, Dryfork; one half brother, Tommy Cousin; one sister, Mary Fin, of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one son, one brother and four sisters.
Mr. DeWalt was a retired coal miner and member of the Mt. Top Hunting Club.

She is survived by her husband, Tony Dibacco; three brothers, Steven A. Dibacco, Huber Heights, Ohio, David M. and Peggy Dibacco, Lapeer Mich., and Matthew G. and Joni Dibacco, Thomas; one daughter, Rita Ann and John Johnson, Thomas; two brothers, Roger Presutti, Sheboygan, Wisc., and Frank Presutti, Commerce, Mich.; one sister, Patricia Ann Hoffner, Thomas; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, one son and five brothers.
Mrs. Dibacco was a homemaker. She was a member of Assumption Parrish of Keyser and St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Louise Thomas DiBacco, 85, a resident of 5 Goff St., Elkins, departed this life early Monday morning, April 21, 2003, at her home, following an illness.
She was born July 25, 1917, at Thomas, a daughter of the late Lucian Dillon “L.D.” Thomas and Frances LaRue Thomas.
She was twice married, formerly to Eugene Michael Ward, who preceded her in death. In 1951, she was married to Lebert Carmine DiBacco, who preceded her in death in 1975.
She was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother whose family was her joy.
Surviving are three daughters, Constance Jean Ward Ongemach, Spartansburg, S.C., Mary Ellen Ward Kennerdell, Dallas, Texas, and Nancy Louise Ward Holmes and husband, Robert “Bob” Holmes, Amelia Island, Fla.; one brother, Kenneth L. Thomas and wife, Mary Louise, Winston-Salem, N.C.; six grandchildren, Nancy Louise Kennerdell Lawrence, Jeffrey John Kennerdell, Scott Thomas Ongemach, Susan LaRue Metts, Douglas Robert Holmes and Carolyn Louise Holmes; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She will be sadly missed by many loving friends.
Preceding her in death were one older sister, Regina Thomas Grotz; and one younger brother, James Thomas.
She was a lifelong resident of Elkins, where she graduated from Elkins High School and was an original member of the National Honor Society. She was the manager for the Sears and Roebuck Store during the 1950s, and later served as the librarian for the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library. She retired as a social worker for the West Virginia Department of Human Services in 1979.
She was a member of the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, Davis & Elkins College Aid, Elkins Women’s Club and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Elkins Lodge No. 1135 BPOE. She was a faithful volunteer for the Davis Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for more than 35 years and for Meals on Wheels.

Let it be joyfully known that Paul Amedeo DiBacco, 59, of Elkins, finished his labors for a kingdom of love and entered eternal life on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003.
He was born Feb. 17, 1943, at Thomas, a son of the late John Vincent DiBacco Sr. and Mary Rossi DiBacco.
He was the beloved husband of Sandra Tyykila DiBacco, whom he married on July 18, 1970, at Arlington, Va., the devoted father of Lori Marie DiBacco, Elkins, John Michael DiBacco and wife, Erin, Chenoweth DiBacco, Elkins, dedicated grandfather of Michael Thomas DiBacco, loving brother of the Rev. Father John Vincent DiBacco Jr., Martinsburg, Ann Marie Katz and husband, Ira Katz, Laurel, Md., Mary Agnes Miller and husband, Robert Miller Jr., White Hall, Md., and loving uncle to a niece and several nephews.
He was a graduate of Mountaineer High School, with the class of 1940, Fairmont State College with the class of 1970 and West Virginia University, with a master’s of science degree in rehabilitation counseling in 1974. He spent 35 years in public service having worked for the West Virginia Forestry Camp at Davis as a teacher. At the Huttonsville Correctional Center as a counselor in the diagnostic unit and as a counselor and office manager of the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services, retiring in October of 2000.
He was a member of Tygarts Valley Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus, Council 603. He attended the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, and for the past two years served on the Diocesan Pastoral Council.
We will come together in Christ’s peace at Saint Brendan Catholic Church, Elkins on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Lester Dice, 85, a resident of Riverton, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2003, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
He was born May 29, 1918, in Riverton, the son of Grant Dice, who died in 1959, and Texie Harper Dice, who died in 1975.
He was married to Mary Rebecca Mallow Dice, who died on March 6, 1986.
Surviving are three daughters, Shirley Sites of Onego, Loretha Vandevander of Whitmer, and Reva Arbaugh of Circleville; one sister, Kate Kimble, Ashland, Va.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter and one brother, Marvin Dice.
He was the owner and operator of Dice’s Cash Store in Circleville and was a farmer and rural mail carrier.

Jacob Tyler Dietsch, this precious child of God, passed away Monday, July 28, 2003.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Paul Hartzel Dietsch and Elmer William Kremmel; and one sister, Regina Lynn Dietsch.
He is survived by his parents, Gary Lynn and Mary Elizabeth Bickert Dietsch of Corrales, N.M.; his grandparents, John and Lila Bickert of Tempe, Ariz., and Ruby Eleanor Clark-Kremmel of Ivy; and one sister, Emily Lynn Dietsch of Mineral Springs, N.C.

Melvin Austin Dilley, 83, a resident of Elkins and more recently a resident of Swisher’s Private Home Care at Diamond Street for the past 2 1/2 years, departed this life late Saturday evening, March, 1, 2003, at Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. He had been in declining health and his death was attributed to pneumonia.
He was born on Thursday, Aug. 7, 1919, at Mingo, the son of the late Austin William Dilley and Iva Merle Wood Dilley.
He had never married. Surviving are one brother, Max Eugene Dilley, Elkins; one sister, Leona Zoe Rainey, Beverly; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death was one brother, Raymond Jay Dilley.
Melvin attended the schools of Durbin and served with the U.S. Army during World War II, where he became disabled.
He was a Protestant.

Glenda J. Donaldson
Glenda Jean Donaldson, 72, of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 1, 1930, at Junior, a daughter of the late William E. and Icie May (Nee Daniels) Moore.
Her husband of 56 years, Edward R. “Blue Eyes” Donaldson, survives at Morgantown.
Also surviving are three daughters, Delores “Toodles” and husband, Allen Skidmore, Junior; Peggy Stevenson and Sherrie Lunsford, both of Morgantown; one son, Edward “Butch” and wife, Roxie Donaldson, Morgantown; two sisters, Darlene McDonald, Junior, and Mildred Scalercio, Port Orange, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Rex Skidmore, Wayne Skidmore, Clinton Skidmore, Terry Kinsley, Chad and Amber Stevenson, Ann Haverfield, Tracy Forquer, Burdett and Troy Donaldson.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Virginia Pauline Schoonover; one brother, Charles Steven “Bud” Moore; one son-in-law, Leon Stevenson and two grandchildren, Jason and Lance Stevenson.
Mrs. Donaldson was a homemaker who enjoyed making crafts. She was a member of the Cool Springs Apostolic Church on Kingwood Pike, Morgantown.

Margaret Donaldson
Margaret Ellen Coontz Donaldson, 93, a resident of 200 Brown Ave. in Belington, departed this life at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health for quite some time.
She was born April 14, 1910, at Belington, the daughter of the late Roy and Grace Fitzwater Coontz.
On Feb. 3, 1927, she was united in marriage to Carl Cyrus Donaldson, who preceded her in death on March 10, 1985.
Surviving are one son, Robert “Bob” Donaldson and wife, Joan, one granddaughter, Jana Lee Ruf and husband, Eric, and one great-granddaughter, Anna Marie Ruf, all of Belington; and two nephews, Bill Boyles of Belington and James Dever of Walton. Also surviving are several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Genevieve Boyles; and one half brother, William Dever.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Donaldson attended the schools of the Belington area, was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge in Belington, and was a member of the Barbour County Historical Society, Asbury United Methodist Church in Belington and Belington Chapter 68 Order of Eastern Star.

Mildred L. Leary Donaldson, 83, a former resident of 414 Central St., Apt. 9, Elkins, and a resident of Nella’s for the past 18 months, passed away at 9:23 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three days. Death was attributed to complications from surgery.
She was born April 16, 1920, at Weaver, the daughter of the late George W. and Dolly Mae Stipes Donaldson.
She was formerly married to Earnest D. Leary, who survives in Elkins.

Mildred Donaldson
Mildred L. Donaldson Leary Donaldson, 83, a former resident of 414 Central St., Apt. 9, Elkins, and a resident of Nella’s at Crystal Springs for the past 18 months, passed away at 9:32 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for the past three days. Death was attributed to complications from surgery.
Born April 16, 1920, at Weaver, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Dolly Mae Stipes Donaldson.
She was formerly married to Earnest D. Leary, who survives on Central Street in Elkins.
In addition, she is survived by two sons, Jack D. Painter and wife, Pearl, and Delmis Leary, all of Elkins; two grandsons, Charles B. Corley Jr. and James Lee Corley; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was preceded in death by three sons, Charles B. Corley, infants James Roy and Stacey Edward Leary; three sisters, Olive Powell, Laura Phillips and Bertha Wilson; one brother, Maynard Donaldson; and a special nephew, Little Buster Wilson.
Mildred attended the schools of Barbour County and was a homemaker. She had a special feeling for all of God’s animals, especially stray cats that she would take in to love and feed. She also loved to garden.
She was a Protestant by faith and attended the Church of God of Prophecy.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home after 6 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. C. Paul Dorsey, 88, of Elkhorn City, Ky., and Melbourne, Fla., died Friday, Aug. 15, 2003, at Mountain View Health Care Center in Elkhorn City.
Mr. Dorsey moved to Melbourne from St. Albans in 1989. He retired after 35 years with Union Carbide.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruby W. Dorsey.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. David (Pat) Johnson and Jean Moore; and five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Thurman Drain
Thurman Drain, 76, a former resident of Gateway Apartments and a resident of Fairmont for the past three years where he made his home with his daughter, Sandra Sidwell, passed away Friday, April 11, 2003, in Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Born June 14, 1926, in Lumberport, he was the son of the late Thurman Blaine and Lillian Frances Drain.
He was united in marriage to the former Frances Meadows Tincher, who preceded him in death in 1987.
Surviving are two daughters, Diana Lee Wolfe of Fairview, and Sandra Lee Sidwell of Fairmont; four sons, Robert Drain of Elkins, Douglas Allen Drain of Virginia, Ernest Gail Drain of Georgia, and Jeffrey Bryan Drain of Fairmont; one sister, Mary Swiger of Lumberport; and one stepdaughter, Lois Jean Stump of Pennsylvania.
Also surviving are several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were one daughter, Mary Francis Dellastritto; three sons, Thurman Richard Drain, Thurman Bernard Drain and James Keith Drain; and four brothers, Clovis Drain, Clarence Drain, Carl Drain and Paul Drain.
Thurman was a former dozer operator, a taxi-cab operator and a coal miner until becoming disabled. He was Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home on Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Jonas Johnson will officiate. Thomas J. Drennen, 66, of Valley Head, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown after a long illness.
Surviving are three sons, Paul Drennen, Wooster, Ohio, James Drennen, Craigsville, and Hugh Drennen, Killington, N.D.; two daughters, Anna Hanna, Grandee, N.C., and Jennifer Rose, Valley Head; three brothers, two sisters, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a Baptist by faith.

Laurie A. Kisamore
Laurie Ann Kisamore, 43, a resident of Fairmont, passed away at 4:32 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in the emergency department of Davis Memorial Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Feb. 4, 1960, at Bristol, Conn., a daughter of Roger M. Chambers, who survives in Elkins, and Nora Donnelly Chambers Kline, who survives at Medina, Ohio.
On May 2, 1981, at Medina, Ohio, she was married to Daniel M. Kisamore, who survives at Fairmont.
Surviving are three children, Megan Ann Helmick, Elkins, Leigh Daniel Kisamore, serving in the U.S. Army in Hawaii, and Jacob Adam Kisamore of Cape Cod, Mass.; two sisters, Jill Mayer of North Carolina, and Mary Lee Teter of Job; and four grandchildren. Laurie and Dan were looking forward to the birth of two more grandchildren later this year.
She was a devoted housewife, mother and friend.

James DuBois Jr.
James “Eddie” DuBois Jr., 54, a former resident of Sanford, N.C., and a resident of Huttonsville, passed away at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Davis Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since May 4. Death was attributed to multiple sclerosis.
Born Nov. 25, 1948, he was the son of the late James Edward DuBois and Mary Harrell DuBois, who survives in Huttonsville.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Rachel Trunzo of Ontario, Canada; and one sister, Phyllis Yokum and husband, Jim, of Huttonsville. Also surviving is one nephew, Dalton James Yokum; one niece, Michelle Yokum; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
James was formerly employed as a service master. He was a firefighter and became chief of the Spring Lake Fire Department.
“Ed” was a key operator for Central Carolina Security Systems until retiring in June 2001 due to his illness. He worked on computers and was an avid reader of books.
At the request of the deceased, the remains will be cremated. Private services will be held at a later date. The Rev. Frank Collier will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in Eddie’s name to the charity of your choice. The F.E. Rose M. Duda
Rose M. Duda, of Elkins, formerly of Alloy area, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, a day before her 89th birthday, after a long illness. During the past year, she was a resident of the Broaddus Long Term Care facility at Philippi.
She was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church of Elkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William W. Duda, on Jan. 5, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Raymond of Mt. Dora, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Donna of Falls View, William and Sharon of Baldwin, Md., James and Monica of Olney, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Patrick Home of Elkins; one brother, Stanley Kopinski of Warren, Mich.; and one brother-in-law, John P. Duda of Oak Hill. In addition, there are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Church, Oak Hill, with the Rev. John McDonough officiating. From 6 Jan 2003.

Bobbie Duffield
Bobbie Duffield, a resident of Beverly for 30 years, passed away at 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Richwood, a daughter of the late Scott E. and Mary Emma James Duffield.
Surviving are two sisters, Lela Gadd of Beverly, and Beatrice Patterson of Laguna Hills, Calif. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
Ms. Duffield was retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways. She was a Baptist by faith.

Patricia L. Dulaney
Patricia L. Dulaney, 60, a resident of PO Box 115, Pickens, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born May 2, 1943, in Marshall, N.C., the daughter of the late Jacob Luther Lunsford and Edith Ramsey Lunsford.
On July 23, 1966, she was married to Edward Dulaney, who survives.
Surviving are one daughter, Kimberly Chandler of Pickens; two stepsons, Craig Edward Dulaney and Phillip Mark Dulaney, both of Minerva, Ohio; one sister, Janice Nicklas, Shady Springs; three grandsons, Brandon Dulaney, Carter Dulaney and Mitchell Dulaney, all of Minerva, Ohio; and three granddaughters, Carlee Dulaney of Minerva, Ohio, and Alexis Chandler and Caroline Chandler, both of Pickens.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Lunsford.
Mrs. Dulaney was a part-time postal clerk at Helvetia. She was a member of the Pickens Presbyterian Church and was president of the Pickens Improvement and Historical Society.

She was born Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1914, at Evenwood, a daughter of the late Enos Roy and Mary Wyatt Roy.
On July 19, 1946, at Petersburg, she was married to Keith Denison Dumire, who preceded her in death April 6, 1979.
Surviving are two sons, William David Dumire and wife, Debra, Lancaster, Pa., and James Franklin Dumire and wife, Terri, Elkins; one brother, Arthur Roy, Elkins; one sister, Nora Phares, Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins; a sister-in-law and life long friend, Lucille Kight, Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins; three grandchildren, David Keith, William Robert and Ryan Glenn Dumire; and two great grandchildren, Isaiah Keith and Michaela Renee Dumire.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Olie, Stover and Warren Roy; and three sisters, Pansy Mullenix, Effie Nicholson and Izetta Houston.
Mrs. Dumire was a graduate of Elkins High School, with the class of 1931, and was a magna cum laude graduate of Davis & Elkins College, with the class of 1935. She taught French and English for 37 years, having taught at Coalton High School, Tygarts Valley High School and Elkins Junior High School, and retired in 1975. She was a member of the Lambda Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma National Teacher’s Honorary Society, the National, State and Randolph County Retired School Employees Association, had served as past president of the Randolph County Retired School Employees, was a past worthy matron and member of the Randolph Chapter 74, Order of the Eastern Star, the Randolph County Senior Center and the Otterbein United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Irons Bible Class and vice president and member of Circle 2 of the church.

Freda Kisner Dumire, 88, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Sunday morning, June 29, 2003, at her home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born Sept. 4, 1914, at Holly Meadows, a daughter of the late Page “Cross” Kisner and Luella N. Jones Kisner.
She was twice married, first in 1937 to Lawton Jones, who preceded her in death in 1953. She was married in 1959 to Russell “Red” Dumire, who preceded her in death in August 1984.
Surviving are two stepdaughters, Frances Jones Evick and Elizabeth Jones Ashton, both of Martins Ferry; five brothers, Glenn Kisner and wife, Norma, of Little Hocking, Ohio, Harry R. Kisner and wife, Mary, of Terra Alta, Doyle Kisner of Holly Meadows, James Kisner and wife, Shelby, of Sunset Heights, and Richard Kisner of Holly Meadows; two sisters, Dorothy Lee Kisner of Holly Meadows and Julia Ellasue Cochran and husband, Vernon, of Fairfax, Va.; eight stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are one infant son; one stepson, Robert W. Jones; one stepdaughter, Delores Jones McFadden; three sisters, Shirley Gray, Auzine Kisner and Evelyn Kisner; and three stepgrandchildren.
She attended the one-room school at Holly Meadows and was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1932. She was a former employee of the Parsons Nursery. She was a housekeeper for the Herman Lamber family and an employee of the former Dorman Mills Wollen Mill at Parsons. She was a member of the St. John’s United Methodist Church at Parsons, of which she was director for the Bible school program for many years. She worked with the children’s church presenting Bible stories each week. She taught Sunday School for many years and was a member of the choir. She served as church treasurer for many and was a noted cook.

Jeannette Elizabeth Pennington Dumire, 84, a resident of 1 Easy St., Elkins, passed away at 8:05 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2003, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 30, 1919, in Morgantown, the daughter of the late Iva Helmick and Remer Pennington.
She was twice married, first to Richard Dunham, who preceded her in death, and later to Arnold Dumire, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving is one son, Jeffery A. Dumire, Baltimore, Md.; two foster sons, Ronald and Donald Jackson, both of California; two sisters, Vivian Robinson, Elkins, and Vera Knotts, Hambleton; two brothers, Charles Pennington and wife, Mary, Killeen, Texas, and Roy Pennington and wife, Jill, Buckhannon.
Two sisters-in-law, Wilda Harsh and husband, Andy, of Eglon, and Annabell Pennington of Keyser; one brother-in-law, Clifton Dumire, Tucson, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her dog, Mitzi, also survive.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Earl, Darl, Carl and James Pennington; and an infant sister, Ocie Marie Pennington.
Mrs. Dumire was formerly employed in Baltimore, Md., and in Elkins and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Dumire, along with her husband, Arnold, operated the Crystal Springs Indoor Flea Market for many years.
She was a member of the Church of God and attended the Hart Chapel Church.

John Paul Dumire, 55, of Davis, passed away at his residence Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003.
He was born Dec. 9, 1947, in Rowlesburg, a son of Pauline Maxine Dumire Leary and the late Hendricks Cleveland Waybright.
He is also survived by one son, John Paul Smith; and two daughters, Sherry Ann Smith and Rebecca Lynn Smith, all of Altoona, Pa.; four brothers, Leroy Arbogast of Frederick, Md., Walter Dumire, New Castle, Del.; David Leary, Holly Meadows, and Delbert Earl Dumire, Oakland, Md.; two sisters, Eva Farmer, Bear, Del., and Bonnie Leary, Davis; five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Dumire.
Mr. Dumire worked as a carpenter’s helper. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war earning four Bronze Service Stars and an Army Commendation Medal.

Walter D. Dumire
Walter Dow “Pinky” Dumire, 85, a former resident of Limestone and a resident of Parsons, departed this life Monday afternoon, Oct. 6, 2003, at his home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to complications of Parkinson’s disease.
He was born May 6, 1918, at Limestone, St. George, the son of the late John Dow Dumire and Messouri Auvil Dumire.
On Dec. 7, 1947, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Gladys G. Harsh, who survives. They celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Surviving are nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by one brother, Willis Dumire; and two sisters, Elizabeth Shaffer and Elva White.
He attended the one-room school at Limestone, graduated from Parsons High School with the class of 1938 and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a disabled veteran.
He was a farmer for more than 30 years. He had a talent for raising polled heifers and Black Angus cattle. He was a noted gardener, loved fishing and was an avid squirrel hunter.

Dewey B. Durrett
Dewey B. Durrett, 74, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 14, in an automobile accident in Tewksbury, Mass.
Dewey was born in Belington in 1929. In this small mountain community, he grew up a farmer’s son while attending the one-room Watercamp School and being a member of Future Farmers of America in Vo-Ag, having won the American Farmer Degree in his senior high school year. Dewey earned a B.S. from West Virginia University and a master’s in economics from the University of Massachussets at Amherst in 1957.
He retired a Lt. Colonel after more than 20 years of military service in the National Guard, the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Dewey was also a member of the American Legion in Elkins.
Dewey loved flying. He was a senior captain for Delta Airlines and retired from the airlines after 28 years of loyal service. An active member of the Cessna 180-185 Club, he often held “fly-ins” on his farm in West Virginia and was active with the Aircraft Owners’ and Pilots’ Association.
An avid traveler, Dewey and his wife enjoyed visiting many countries and locales around the world, from Taiwan and Thailand to Zambia and the North Pole. He was also dedicated to providing family and friends with the opportunity to experience different places, often transporting them in his own plane to interesting and exotic destinations.
Most recently, Dewey was involved in the creation of the Appalachian Plateau Museum on his farm in West Virginia, which houses mounted big game trophies and other memorabilia collected during his lifetime of travel.
Dewey was honored with the naming of Durrett Hall, a 300-seat conference room in the student center at West Virginia University. He was proud to be featured in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in Real Estate.
Dewey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pauline Stefanik Durrett; three sons, Bryan of North Carolina, Keith of Colorado and Craig of Nashua, N.H.; and seven grandchildren. His sisters, Margaret and Ella, and brother, Jim, all reside in West Virginia.

Dewey B. Durrett
Dewey B. Durrett, 74, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in an automobile accident in Tewksbury, Mass.
Mr. Durrett was born in the Talbott community near Belington in 1929, the son of the late Dewey L. and Bernice Simon Durrett.

He was also dedicated to providing family and friends with the opportunity to experience different places, often transporting them in his own plane to interesting and exotic destinations.
Most recently, Mr. Durrett was involved in the creation of the Appalachian Plateau Museum on his farm in West Virginia, which houses mounted big game trophies and other memorabilia collected during his lifetime of travel.
Mr. Durrett was honored with the naming of Durrett Hall, a 300-seat conference room in the student center at West Virginia University. He was proud to be featured in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in Real Estate.
Mr. Durrett is survived by his wife of 45 years, Pauline Stefanik Durrett; three sons, Bryan of North Carolina, Keith of Colorado and Craig of Nashua, N.H; seven grandchildren; his sisters, Margaret Gutshall of Elkins and Ella Yeager of Lewisburg; and one brother, Jim Durrett and wife, Jeanette, of Elkins.
Donations in Mr. Durrett’s name may be made to either the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at 9844C Southern Pines Blvd, Charlotte, N.C. 28273, or the Joslin Diabetes Center, 1 Joslin Place, No. 520, Boston, Mass. 02215.
Funeral services were Sunday at the Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St, Salem, N.H., at 7 p.m. Cremation followed. Interment will occur on the Durrett Farm in Barbour County. A memorial service will also be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Talbott United Methodist Church in the Talbott Community. The Rev. Jim Tallman will conduct the service. Presentation of the American flag will be conducted by the American Legion Post 44 of Philippi. The Talbott Funeral Home of Belington is in charge of these arrangements for Dewey B. Pamela Dyer-Holcomb
Pamela Rae Keller Dyer-Holcomb, 42, of Kenton, Ohio, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2003, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, Ohio.
She was born Jan. 17, 1961, in Tacoma, Wash., the daughter of the late Bernard Keller and Lillian Borders Keller, who survives in Kenton.
She was married to Joe Dyer, who preceded her in death. On Dec. 15, 2001, she married Robert W. Holcomb who survives in Kenton.
Also surviving are one daughter, Melissa D. Miller of Kenton; two stepdaughters, Krista and Tricia Holcomb, both of Kenton; one sister, Karen D. Smeltzer of Kenton; three brothers, Randy E. Sprinkel and wife, Sherry, of Valley Bend, Bruce A. Keller and wife, Lori, of Ada, Ohio, and James M. Keller and wife, Candi, of Kenton.
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Austin Daniel Miller.
She attended Tygarts Valley High School and was a licensed practical nurse at Baldwin Manor Nursing Home.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Price Funeral Home in Kenton, Ohio, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to Hardin Hospice Care in care of Price Funeral Home, 123 N. Main St., Kenton, Ohio, 43326.  From 22 Dec 2003.
