Stella R. Dietrick Nadwodny, died Friday, March 8, 2002.
She was born and raised in Davis.
She attended Davis-Thomas High School.
Surviving are one brother-in-law, Mr. Maniscarco, Davis; a niece, Mary White and other nephews, who live in West Virginia.
Friends were received at George J. Gonce Funeral Home, P.A., 4001 Ritchie Highway, Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Monday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held at Emmanuel Wesleyan Church today at 11 a.m. Interment followed in Glen Have Memorial Park. Nancy J. Neale
Nancy Jane Neale, 65, a resident of 296 Bethany Church Road, Moore, N.C., passed away Monday evening, Oct. 14, 2002, in the Camp Care Nursing Home.

Nancy J. Neale
Nancy Jane Johnson Neale, 65, of 296 Bethany Church Road, Spartanburg, S.C., and a former resident of Elkins, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening, Oct. 14, 2002, at Camp Care Nursing Home. Death was attributed to ALS; however it was unexpected.
She was born Feb. 14, 1937, on the Haddix Road near Elkins, a daughter of the late Lloyd George Johnson and Pearl Dawson Johnson.
She was formerly married to John H. Neale, who survives in Charleston.
Surviving are one son, John Hughes Neale and wife, Valerie, of Moore, S.C.; one daughter, Tracy Neale Anderson and husband, Neil, of Moore, S.C.; three grandsons, John Hughes Neale II and wife, Carrie, Justin S. Neale and Dalton N. Anderson; one granddaughter, Skyler L. Anderson, all of Spartanburg, S.C.; one brother, William C. "Butch" Johnson; and two sisters, Geraldine "Gerry" Barkley and Irene Mosser, all of Elkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were one infant sister and one brother.
Mrs. Neale attended the schools of Elkins and was formerly employed at Davis Memorial Hospital and the Memorial General Hospital. She retired from Alcoa Fujikura in South Carolina in January of 2001. She was a past president of the Elkins Jaycettes in 1967-68. She was a member of the Harts Chapel Church at Chenoweth Creek. While residing in Spartanburg, she attended the Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church. She was a loving mother to her children and loved her grandchildren as well.

William H. Nease
William Henry Nease, 81, of 3 Myrna St., Buckhannon, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Nease was born Nov. 6, 1920, in Mason County, a son of the late Henry Brady and Kathyrn Viola Fruth Nease.
On June 9, 1945, he married Ramona McGrew Nease, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William Conrad Nease and wife, Deborah, Buffalo, and Marion Cornell Nease, Buckhannon; a daughter, Martha Gaynelle "Gay" Jeffers and husband, Donald, Bridgeport; and three granddaughters, Andrea Renea Nease, Morgantown, Alaina Gaynelle Nease, Buffalo, and Samantha Taylor-Paige Nease, Buckhannon.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona Celestine Nease; two sisters, Mamie Noble and Jean Trussell; and a half brother, Howard Long.
Mr. Nease was a warehouse supervisor for Headquarters & Headquarters Detachment in Charleston. He served in World War II in the Aleutian, Alaska. He was retired from the United States Property & Fiscal Office National Guard in Buckhannon.
He was a life member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of New Haven and sponsored "The Lutheran Hour" for many years on WBUC Radio in Buckhannon.

Eston S. Nelson
Eston Seymour Nelson, 65, of Maysville, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
Friends will be received at Petersburg Church of God Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at the church Friday at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in South Branch Memorial Gardens in Petersburg. From 30 Oct 2002.

Dove Nestor
Dove Lipscomb Nestor, 101, a resident of Parsons, departed this life Saturday evening, Nov. 30, 2002, at Tucker Community Care at Parsons. She had been in declining health for the past two weeks and death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born on Sunday, April 7, 1901, at Leadmine, the daughter of the late Elemuel M. Lipscomb and Alice O. VanMeter Lipscomb.
On March 1, 1924, she was married to Schley A. Nestor, who preceded her in death .
She is survived by one daughter, Faitha N. Flanagan, Parsons; two sisters-in-law, Pearl Nestor, Fountain, and Mrs. Robert (Rose) Nestor, Grafton; her grandchildren, Paris Woodell and husband, Don, Newport, N.C., Gordon "Bud" Flanagan and wife, Elsie, Oberlin, Ohio, and Barbara Sturm and Jerry, Parsons; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Lancaster and husband, Scott, Parsons, Jerry H. Sturm, Parsons, Howard Lee Flanagan Sr. and wife, Jane, LaGrange, Ohio, James W. Flanagan, and wife, Cindy, Elyria, Ohio, and David W. Flanagan and wife, Rebecca, Kipton, Ohio; seven great-great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hannah Lancaster, Parsons, Howard Lee Jr. and Ashley Flanagan, La Grange, Ohio, Michael James and Cassie Flanagan, Elyria, Ohio, and Madison Flanagan, Kipton, Ohio; and several cousins, nieces and nephews in the area.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, Cyrus T. Lipscomb and Ira M.. Lipscomb; and two sisters, Hettie P. Selders and Anna M. Dumire.
Mrs. Nestor attended the Shaffertown School, was a practical nurse and worked at the spun stores for the Celanese Corp. until she retired in 1958.
Being one of the first women automobile drivers, she was a traveling salesperson, traveling all around the United States.
She was a member of the Danville Church of the Brethren at Danville, Md.
Mrs. Nestor was very active throughout her lifetime, and up until the time of her death kept busy with household chores and enjoyed shopping.
Friends will be received at the Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Wednesday morning, Mrs. Nestor will then be moved to the Danville Church of the Brethren where friends will be received from noon until 2 p.m., the funeral hour. Melvin L. Nestor
Melvin Lee "Mick" Nestor, 69, a resident of the Fork Mountain community, Parsons, departed this life Thursday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2002, at his home. He had been in his usual health and death was attributed to heart failure.
He was born March 28, 1933, at Hambleton, a son of the late Dewey Clifford Roscoe Nestor and Sally M. Moyers Nestor.
On Aug. 28, 1954, he was married to the former Lucy J. Harman, who preceded him in death on March 27, 1997.
Surviving are two sons, Garrett Lee Nestor and Leonard Dale Nestor, both of Fork Mountain; three daughters, Betty "Jeanie" Whitehead, Sand Creek, Mich., Vickie Bodkins, Elkins, and Nancy K. Shaffer, Fork Mountain; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Ann Nestor; three brothers, Allen Nestor, Leonard Nestor and Clem Moyer; and one sister, Velma Nestor Lewis.
He attended the Hambleton grade school and the one-room school at Fork Mountain.
He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a former employee of the former Parsons Woolen Mill and Kingsford Charcoal Co. of Parsons, and was a carpenter. He enjoyed working with wood and he had a great love for animals.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Sunday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Monday at 11 a.m. The Rev. The Rev. Benjamin Harrison "Shorty" Nethken, 82, a resident of Mabie, passed away at 6:24 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2002, in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency department.
The Rev. Nethken was born Sept. 15, 1919, at Kedron, a son of the late Albert T. and Elsie Gay Hornbeck Nethken.
On Dec. 15, 1945, he married the former Lucille Madge Hawkins, who survives at Mabie.
Also surviving are two sons, Albert T. Nethken and wife, Sinney, and Donald Ray Nethken and wife, Connie, all of Mabie; five daughters, Isabell Lucille Swecker and husband, Robert, Beverly, Levan Kay Lambert of Coalton, Ila Jean Snyder and husband, Donald, of Kesling Mill, Linda Sue Williams and husband, Eugene Williams Jr., of Philippi, and Virginia Gay "Ginger" Rodgers and husband, Scott, of Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two brothers, Ralph David Nethken of Buckhannon, Howard Weese Nethken of Mabie; five sisters, Jane Helmick, Dove Calain and Jessie Logue, all of Warren, Ohio, Edith Ossman, Charlotte, N.C., and Rosie Bland of Cleveland, Ohio. Six grandsons, 12 granddaughters and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by one infant sister; two half sisters, Florence Brady and Ruby Combs; and one brother, James Frank Nethken.
The Rev. Nethken was a coal miner and timber cutter. He was a disabled American veteran, served in the U. S. Army and was awarded the Bronze Star.
He was a member of the Coalton Union Mission Church. He was a Christian by faith.

Leona R. Nine
Leona "Aunt Onie" Riggleman Nine, 92, a former resident of 35 High St., Elkins, and more recently a resident of Nella’s Nursing Home, departed this life Wednesday morning, Nov. 20, 2002, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health.
She was born on Thursday, Feb. 3, 1910, at Davis, a daughter of the late Isaac Clarence Riggleman, and Lela Propst Riggleman Dibert.
On Dec. 25, 1931, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Roy Lee Nine, who preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1986.
Surviving are one brother, Clyde Riggleman, Elkins; and one sister, Elva Rogers, Mocksville, N.C.; two nieces, three nephews, and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Riggleman, who preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2000.
She attended the Davis High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Elkins-Randolph County Senior Center, the Ladies of the Elks and was member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church of Elkins.
Friends will be received today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel Saturday at 11 a.m.

Harry F. Nojek
Harry Frank Nojek, 95, a former resident of Douglas, Hendricks, and Chicago, Ill., and more recently a resident of the Faulkner Road, Bowden, departed this life Monday afternoon, Sept. 2, 2002, at his residence. He had been in declining health.
He was born April 2, 1907, at Douglas, the oldest son of 12 children to the late Frank Gnojek and Maryanna Kaczmarczyk Gnojek, who emigrated from Poland.
He was twice married. First during 1929, he married his childhood sweetheart, the former Sophie Rolniak of Douglas, who preceded him in death during 1978. Second, during 1980, he married the former Frances Wieczorek of Franklin Park, Ill., whom he met while taking classes in floral arrangement and who is well known in Tucker County and Elkins as a cake decorator.
Also surviving are four children, Joan Belinc and husband, Ernest, Davis, Sandra Cardran and husband, Robert, Monticello, Ind., Thomas Nojek and wife, Karen, Fairborn, Ohio, and Eugene A. Nojek and wife, Christina, Springfield, Va.; three sisters, Constance Mazurski, Stephanie Myscofski and Mary Myscofski, all of the Chicago area; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Max, William, John and Alfred; and two sisters, Roberta Yarosz and Mildred Pietrzak.
Mr. Nojek began working in the coal mines in Douglas in 1918 at the age of 15. In 1925, at the age of 18, he left Douglas for Chicago, Ill., where he trained as a metal finisher. He was employed in the metal finishing trade for more than 40 years, except for a period in the late 1950s, when he worked as a carpenter. He retired in 1977, at the age of 70 as a supervisor for the Leitner Equipment Co., a manufacturer of restaurant equipment in the Chicago suburbs. In 1982, he moved to Hendricks to be near his boyhood home. In 1999, he moved to Bowden.
He attended Thomas High School, was an avid reader and furthered his interest in education by attending night school classes. He completed a certificate in real estate and in the 1960s earned an associates degree in liberal arts and horticulture from Triton College at River Grove, Ill.
An interest in civic affairs led Mr. Nojek to serve as an elected member of the Rhodes School Board of Education at River Grove, Ill., from 1951 to 1960. He was elected mayor of Hendricks in 1984 and served until 1988. Other positions he held while living in Hendricks included memberships in the Tucker County Development Authority, the Parks and Recreation Board, the Region VII Planning Commission and the Board of Directors of the Tucker County Senior Center. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, was a 50-year Master Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite at West Chester, Ill.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. On Thursday, at 6:30 p.m at the funeral home, a prayer service will be recited by the Rev. Father William Anderson. On Friday, Mr. Nojek will be moved to the Saint Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. The Rev. Anderson will be the presider and interment will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Thomas. Mary J. Norman
Mary J. Norman, 80, of Route 1, Box 214 A, Buckhannon, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at her home in Buckhannon.
Mrs. Norman was born June 27, 1921, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Enoch and Minnie Lantz Reed.
On April 3, 1941, she married Clifford Carl Norman, who preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1972.
Surviving are three sons, Carl Blaine Norman, Buckhannon, Jimmie Norman, Volga, and Charles Norman, Buckhannon; two daughters, Phyllis Strader, Buckhannon, and Sue Cussins, Thomas; one brother, Carl William Reed, Buckhannon; three sisters, Gay Norman, Adrian, Ethel Chips, Buckhannon, and Ruth Johns, Flinstone, Md.; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Reed and Kenneth Reed; and two sisters, Mae Ware and Merle Miller.
Mrs. Norman was a homemaker.

Jerry Leroy Nuhfer, 61, of Petersburg, died Tuesday, June 4, 2002, in Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Schaeffer Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8:30 p.m. Memorial Mass will be Monday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Mario R. Claro officiating. From 6 June 2002.

George A. Nutt
George A. Nutt, 88, of Memphis, Tenn., and formerly of Elyria, Ohio, died Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, in St. Francis Hospital in Memphis following a brief illness.
Mr. Nutt was born in Shock, a son of the late Mack Sr. and Drusilla Nutt.
He was married for 67 years to Leota Casto, who survives
Also surviving are two sons, Darius D., Memphis, Tenn., and Daniel W., Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Evelyn Carter, Buckhannon; and three brothers, Hayward, Lakeland, Fla., and Martin Dale and Mack Jr., both of Lake Placid, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard D., in 1949; two sisters, Bulah and Maxine; and three brothers, Orval, Ernest and Nole.
Mr. Nutt lived in Elyria most of his life. He was the head racemaker for General Motors, Fisher Guide Division in Elyria for 23 years before retiring in 1974.
The Rev. Walter Spieth, associate pastor of LaGrange Baptist Church officiated at funeral services in Elyria. Burial was in Camden Cemetery in Camden Township.

Clyde Nutter
Clyde Nutter, 86, a resident of the Elkins IOOF Home in Elkins for over 48 years, departed this life Thursday morning, Nov. 28, 2002, at the IOOF Home. He had been in declining health for the past month.
He was born Saturday, Jan. 1, 1916, in Volga, a son of the late Hamilton Nutter and Elizabeth Helmick Nutter.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Haymond and Freeman Nutter, and two sisters, Mamie Crowley and Lena McQuain.
Clyde was a graduate of Elkins High School, and had worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Webster, Tucker and Randolph counties. He was formerly employed by the DuPont Corp. in Belle and the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins. He was a 63-year member of the Kanawha Lodge 25 IOOF in Charleston and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., the funeral hour. Freeman D. "Red" Nutter, 95, a lifelong resident of Elkins, passed Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2002, at Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs, where he had been a resident for the past 1 1/2 years.
He was born May 9, 1907, in Barbour County, a son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Nutter.

Freeman D. Nutter
Freeman David "Red" Nutter, 95, a well known resident of Elkins and a resident of Cass for the past 20 years, passed away Sunday morning, Sept. 29, 2002, at Nella’s Incorporated, where he had been a resident for the past one and a half years.
He was born May 9, 1907, in Barbour County, a son of the late Anthony and Elizabeth Helmick Nutter.
He was twice married. His first wife, the former Mildred M. Poling, preceded him in death in April of 1975. His second wife, the former Eloise Ward, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by three daughters, Sue Roberts and husband, Ed, of Belington, Sandy Edman of Elkins, and Belinda Nutter of Weston; one brother, Clyde Nutter, who is currently a resident of the IOOF Home; several stepchildren, two grandsons, Charles David Nutter and James Franklin Leary; several stepgrandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends including two special friends, Guy and Chester.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Gerald "Teddy" Nutter; two sisters, Mamie Crowley and Lena McQuain; and one brother, Haymond Nutter.
He was the owner and operator of the Red Nutter’s Concrete and Sidewalk Co. for several years. He was a well known ginseng buyer and seller in West Virginia and surrounding state. In the late 1940s and early 1950s he drove for Reynolds Bus Line from Elkins to Bluefield. He was a graduate of Elkins High School and built and owned several properties in the Elkins area. He also worked in the CC Camps in Tucker County. He served as Elkins City Councilman in 1971 and resigned in the same year to take the position of street superintendent for the city of Elkins. He was also well known for his masonry work. He was a former member of the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion, the Moose Lodge and a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army. He was a Protestant by faith.
At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Mountain State Memorial Gardens in Gilman. The Rev. Leon Hevener will officiate. Interment will follow. The Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars will serve as pall bearers. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Red’s name to the Randolph County Senior Center or to the Senior Center of Green Bank. The F.E. Mertie Nuzum
Mertie Nuzum, 93, of Route 3, Box 316A, Buckhannon, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon.
She was born Oct. 11, 1908, in Upshur, a daughter of the late L.D. and Stada Leasure Suder.
On Nov. 17, 1928, she married Samuel Brent Nuzum, who preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1981.
Surviving are two daughters, Ruby Karickhoff and Dottie and Fred Lough, all of Brushy Fork; one brother, Climmer Suder, Buckhannon; one sister, Mary Jane Care, Swamp Run; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Brushy Fork Women’s Club and attended Chapel United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Sunday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Monday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William C. Eskew Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery. From 13 Apr 2002.
