Raymond Liberati
Raymond Liberati, 79, of Route 1 Box 401, Grafton, died at 5:05 a.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 at his residence.
He was born June 11, 1923, in Clarksburg, a son of the late Doninick Liberati and the late Mary Josephine Mosesso Liberati.
Twice married, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lorraine Burton Liberati in 1973, and is survived by his wife, Mary Rogers Liberati.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert Lee and Mary Li#berati, Parkersburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Judith Carol Liberati and Larry Wilson, Clarksburg; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Randall Lee (Judy Ann Knotts) McCauley, Philippi; one brother, Frank Robet Liberati, Grafton; and one sister, Rosalie Barnosky, Clarksburg;10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Clyde Fenton, Washington, Pa.
He was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Raymond Liberati, and by two sisters, Sestilia Bell and Nancy Fenton, and an infant brother, David Liberati.
Mr. Liberati was a member of the Missionary Alliance Church. He had owned and operated Liberati Trucking for over 47 years. He enjoyed traveling.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main St., Clarksburg. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Barney Snowden presiding. Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Kenna M. Lipps
Kenna M. Lipps, 85, of 8 Ritchie St., Buckhannon, and formerly of French Creek, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 202, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Sept. 7, 1916, at Bonnie, a son of the late Walter Lee and Lillie Mae Singleton Lipps.
On Sept. 18, 1948, he married Martha Jane Pringle Lipps, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two sons, Dwaine Lipps and wife, Teresa, Buckhannon, and Donald Lipps, Elliston, Va.; four daughters, Deloris Lipps, Elizabeth, Barbara Arthur and husband, Mitchell, and Delma Lockhart and husband, Larry, all of Parkersburg, and Sharon Hall and husband, David, Coraopolis, Pa.; two brothers, Richard Lipps and Carl Lipps, both of French Creek; two sisters, Marjorie Benko, Independence, Ohio, and Shirley Skalecki, Parma, Ohio; five grandsons, Jeremy Arthur, Reston, Va., Daniel Hall, Coraopolis, Pa., Justin Arthur and Jeffry Arthur, both of Parkersburg, and Dustin Lipps, Buckhannon; four granddaughters, Stacy Hall, Coraopolis, Pa., Jamie Lipps, Buckhannon, and Lisa Lockhart and Angela Oxley, both of Parkersburg; two great-grandsons, Dominic Valenty, Neville Island, Pa., and Brendan Hall, Coraopolis, Pa.; and two great-granddaughters, Eden Oxley and Madeleine Oxley, both of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Delbert Lipps, Lawrence Lipps, Olen Lipps and Eugene Lipps; and two sisters, Madeline Martin and Virginia Harding.
Mr. Lipps was a coal miner for C&W Coal Co. He was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with Pastor Beryl McKisic officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Cave Cemetery in Rock Cave. From 6 Sep 2002.

Martha J. Lipps
Martha J. Lipps, 71, a resident of 8 Ritchie St., Buckhannon, formerly of French Creek, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born Jan. 5, 1931, in Horner, the daughter of the late Brady Glenn Pringle and Pearl Reed Pringle.
On Sept. 18, 1948, she was married to Kenna M. Lipps, who preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 2002.

Mrs. Lipps worked as a child protective service worker for the West Virginia Department of Human Resources.
She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose and was a Protestant by faith.

Joann A. Lipscomb
Joann A. Lipscomb, 64, of Eglon, passed away Friday, July 19, 2002, at her residence. Death was attributed to cancer.
She was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Davis, the daughter of the late Allen Lee and Agnes Peachie Butcher Reed.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Edward N. Lipscomb; two sons, Richard E. and wife, Shirley, and John R. Lipscomb and fiancee, Gloria Hardesty, all of Eglon; one daughter, Christa Wildesen and special friend, Wayne, of Frostburg, Md.; three brothers, Harry Reed of Davis, Jim Reed of Cleveland, Ohio, and Carlton Reed of Piqua, Ohio; one half brother, Floyd Mullenax of Florida; three sisters, Lucille Arbogast of Davis, Suzi Partin of Piqua, Ohio, and Sharon Gibson of Cleveland, Ohio; one half sister, Lorna Canon of New Creek; and eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Lipscomb was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren.
Friends were received at the Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at the Maple Spring Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Rogers Fike officiating. Interment followed in the Aurora Cemetery. From 22 July 2002.

Brenda L. Liller
Brenda Lee Liller, 53, formerly of Parsons, and of St. Marys for the past three and a half years, died Sunday evening, Feb. 24, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Liller was born Feb. 20, 1949, in Parsons, a daughter of James W. "Butch" Long Sr., who survives in Parsons, and the late Stanis Baer Long.
On April 13, 1985, in Parsons, she married Robert C. "Pete" Liller, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, David K. "Tink" Greenlief Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Parsons; two daughters, Mrs. Peter (Tamara Lyn) Greenlief Michael, Parsons, and Krista Dana’ Liller, St. Marys; a brother, James W. "Butch" Long Jr., Parsons; and two grandchildren, Alexa Lee Greenlief and James Payden Michael, both of Parsons.
Mrs. Liller was a 1967 graduate of Parsons High School and attended Davis & Elkins College. She was a homemaker. She attended St. Mary’s Church of the Nazarene and was a Protestant by faith.

Edna E. Liller
Edna E. Kirk Liller, 89, a native of Hendricks, a resident of Center Township, Pa., since 1956 and more recently a resident of Chapel Road, Monaca, Pa., departed this life Tuesday, March 26, 2002.
She was born April 16, 1912, at Hendricks, a daughter of the late William Kirk and Stella Nestor Kirk.
On Aug. 12, 1929, at Thomas, she was married to Melvin Charles Liller, who preceded her in death on Aug. 17, 1955.
Surviving are one son, Paul Liller, Ambridge, Pa.; one brother, Edgar Ray "Bud" Kirk and wife, Mary Ann, Monaca, Pa.; three sisters, Blanche Edmond, Junior, Betty Jean Silvester, Coalton, and Wanda Lee Annon, Philippi; two nephews, Richard Kirk and wife, Lori, Chippewa, Pa., and Larry T. Kirk, Monaca, Pa.; one niece, Deborah Intrieri and fiancee, Stuart, Chippewa, Pa.; two great-nephews, Arthur and Ethan Intrieri; and one great-niece, Angela Intrieri.
She was preceded in death by one son, Earnest C. Liller; two brothers, Kenneth Kirk and Glen Kirk; and two sisters, Mary George and Ruth Liller.
She was retired from the dietary department of the Medical Center at Rochester, Pa., and was a member of the Pentecostal Church at Hendricks.

Joanna C. Lipscomb
Joanna Carrie Barnett Lipscomb, 65, a resident of the Holly Meadows community, Parsons, departed this life Friday morning, March 8, 2002, at her home. She had been in declining health and under Hospice Care for the past six months and death was attributed to Emphazema.
She was born Nov. 28, 1936, at Red Creek, a daughter of the late Russell Barnett and Hazel Mallow-Simmons.
On Feb. 23, 1957, at Parsons, she was married to Jennings Randolph Lipscomb, who survives. They had celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Also surviving are three sons, Joseph Randolph Lipscomb and Jerry Russell Lipscomb and wife, Brenda, all of Morgantown, and Robert Mark Lipscomb and wife, Cheryl, Arthurdale; one daughter, Katherine Jean Hymes, Thomas; one sister, Wilda Jean Jackson and husband, Robert, Red Creek; three grandchildren, Alan Polomski, Morgantown, Jeremy Robert Lipscomb, Arthurdale, and Carrie Rene Hymes, Thomas.
She was a graduate of Davis High School with the class of 1954. She was a former employee at the Parsons Headstart Program as a schoolteacher, where she had worked for 12 years. She was the owner of Joanna’s Ceramics. She was a homemaker. She was a Methodist by faith.

Joseph F. Little, 78, of Cass, passed away Monday, March 25, 2002, at his home in Cass.

Douglas F. Loftin
Douglas F. Loftin, 64, of Montrose, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2001, at 10:41 a.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Feb. 17, 1938, at Rockville, Md., a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mabel Maude Aldridge Loftin.
On June 24, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Karen Mills, who survives at Montrose.

Douglas F. Loftin
Douglas F. "Doug" Loftin, 64, a resident of the Montrose community, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at 10:41 a.m. in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Feb. 17, 1938, at Rockville, Md., a son of the late Grover Cleveland and Mable Maude Aldridge Loftin.
On June 25, 1972, he was united in marriage to the former Karen Mills, who survives at Montrose. They would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on the 25th of this month.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jasen (Kristie) Loftin-Milhoan of Montrose, and Jessica L. Loftin, at home; four sisters, Martha Tolbert of Pulaski, Va., Betty Magruder of Annapolis, Md., Dorothy Kirkley of Maryland, and Barbara Loftin of Bethesda, Md.; one brother, Grover C. Loftin of Alliance, Ohio; several half brothers and sisters, Gurney Loflin, Conrad Loflin, Katherine, Bobbie and Dorothy; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents is one brother, Roger Loftin.
Doug was a heavy equipment operator, a truck driver and had been employed at various mining companies. He was last employed as a mining supervisor at the Northern Reclamation Co.
He loved the outdoors and especially working on the farm. He was a Baptist by faith.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Saturday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel on Sunday at 1 p.m. Pastor Kevin Gainer of the Refuge Church will officiate. James William Logan
James William Logan, 78, a resident of 1401 Harrison Ave., Elkins, departed this life at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital. He had been in declining health for the past two years and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born March 23, 1924, at Norton, the son of the late Frank Patterson Logan and Bertha George Logan.
Surviving are two special friends, Anna Mae Harris, Elkins, and his advisor, Greg Morgan, Elkins; two uncles, Glenn Logan, Baltimore, Md., and Burton George, Atlanta, Ga.; three aunts, L. Amy Arbogast, Elkins, Georgia Pope, New Bern, N.C., and Eleanora Woodford, Oak Hill; and numerous cousins.
Mr. Logan graduated from Parsons High School in the class of 1942. Upon graduation from high school he entered the military and served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
He attended Davis & Elkins College and graduated from the Wheeling Barber School in June 1953.
He owned and operated a barbershop in the Elkins area and along with his father worked as coal prospectors, owning and operating Logan Core Drilling Co.
He was a member of the Tygarts Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and the First United Methodist Church of Elkins.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and the great outdoors.

Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Maplewood Cemetery, where members of the H.W. Shirley June Shreve Johr, 70, of Bel Air, Md., died at 2:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2002, at her home in Bel Air.
She was the wife of the late Thomas Frank Fijalkovic.
Mrs. Lohr was born May 26, 1932, in Elkins, the daughter of the late Clifford and Viola Arbogast Shreve.
She worked for Westinghouse in Hunt Valley, Md., and also was employed by Wal-Mart.
Mrs. Lohr is survived by a son, Tom Fijalkovic, of Nottingham, Md; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; two sisters, Betty Nelson and Margaret Webster, both of Dover, Pa.; and four brothers, Franklin Delno Shreve, Mill Creek, Strader Shreve of Hedgesville, David Shreve of Dover, Pa., and Roger Collins of Virginia.
The viewing will be Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Diehl Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 87 S. Main St., Mount Wolf, Pa. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Barbara L. Long, 72, a resident of 1028 Harrison Ave., Elkins, passed away at 8:32 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Nov. 21, 1929, at Gilman, a daughter of the late Lawrence Moats and the late Mabel Cochran.
She is survived by four sons, Greg Young, Euclid, Ohio, Gary Stephen Long and wife, Sue, Ft. Ashby, Bruce Long and wife, Dona, Coalton, and Jerrell "J.D." Long and wife, Linda, Philippi; one daughter, Mrs. David (Deborah) Findley, Jacksonville, Fla.; two half brothers, David and Kevin Moats, both of Virginia; one half sister, Linda Nesbitt, Beverly; seven grandchildren, two stepgranddaughters, one great-grandchild and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Ms. Long was a homemaker.

Bertha Long
Bertha Long, 68, formerly of Beverly and more recently of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, 2002. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to complications of Parkinson Disease.
Ms. Long was born April 1, 1933, in Boswell, Pa., a daughter of the late Frank Long and Mary Plum Long.
Surviving are a son, Robert Wortman and wife, Sherry, New Milford, Conn.; three daughters, Helen Burleson, Johnson City, Tenn., Sharon Weiland and husband, Rich, Birmingham, Ala., and Theresa Chapin and husband, Darin, Jasper, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Helen) Wotring, and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) M. Gotinsky, all of Shavers Fork Road, Kerens; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Wortman; two brothers, Frank W. Long and Roy D. Long; and five sisters, Georgie Long, Alberta Poveromo, Dessie Haube, Edith Scott and India Brown.
Ms. Long attended the Porterwood School in Porterwood and Parsons High School. She received an AA degree as a medical assistant. She was an employee of Downtown General Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., as a medical administrative secretary.
She was a Protestant by faith.

Lucy Belle Long, 91, a resident of Buckhannon, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at Holbrook’s Nursing Home.
She was born April 17, 1911, in Hyer, the daughter of the late John Milton and Iva Emma Hyer Pullin.
On Oct. 30, 1936, she was married to Glen Wayne Long, who died Dec. 16, 1982.
Surviving are three sons, Wayne Glen Long, Charleston, John Harvey Long, Burke, Va., and Benjamin Eugene Long, French Creek; three sisters, Marie Edwards and Ruby Hall, both of Buckhannon, and Evilee Burks, Baltimore, Md.; six grandsons, Jeff Long, Frenchton, Chris Long, Belington, Jason Long, Mechanicsville, Va., Adam Long, Burke, Va., Brad Long and Josh Long, both of Chesapeake; one great-granddaughter, Megan Long, Frenchton; and one great-grandson, Traeton Long, Belington.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Ellen Long; two sisters, Lula Pullin and Genevieve Dalford; and three brothers, John Pullin, Elbert Pullin and Evert Pullin.
Mrs. Long was a homemaker and seamstress and a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663 Ladies Auxiliary and the American Association of Retired Persons. From 3 Sep 2002.

Robert R. Long
Robert R. Long, 78, of 1539 Country Club, Fairmont, died Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at Wishing Well Nursing Home in Fairmont.
Mr. Long was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Elkins, a son of the late Audra Ford Long and Margaret Beryl Chandler Long Courtney.
Surviving are two daughters, Dixie Eckert, Hooks, Texas, and Kitten Lee, Buckhannon; one brother, Max Long, Buckhannon; two sisters, Dixie Brumfield, Canton, Mich., and Betty Jane Lantz, New Hope, Va.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Hunter Audra Long; and one son, Randy Layne Long.
Mr. Long was a mechanic at a bus garage. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a life time member of Buckhannon VFW Post 3663 and was a 32nd Degree Mason.

Webster B. Long III
Webster Bruce "Boots" Long III, of LaVale, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2002, at home with his family.
Mr. Long was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Cumberland, Md., a son of the late Webster Bruce Long Jr. and Emma Knoyer Long. He was the grandson of Webster Bruce Long and Jess Leonard Long.
He was married for 55 years to Leona Phares Long, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Mark B. Long, Frederick, Md., and Matthew Long and wife, Joanne, of Frostburg, Md.; four grandchildren, Megan, Matthew, Caitlyn and Samuel; and his mother-in-law, Lillian Phares of Elkins.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Louisa "Betty Lou" Long; and two brothers, Loren A. Long and Danial Lynn Long.
He was a graduate of Allegany High School and was a veteran of World War II having served in the Third Army and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge. In 2001, he was presented the Jubilee of Liberty Medal. He was retired from The Kelly-Springfield Tire Co., having worked there as a mechanist for 40 years. He belonged to the LaVale United Methodist Church.
He was also past president and member of the LaVale Lions Club and was Lion of the Year in 1994. He was a member, past president, vice president and chief of the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department, life member of BPOE Elks No. 63, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1411, American Legion Post 13, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles in Cumberland, Md., Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 271, a life member of the Barrelville Outdoor Club, Civilian member of Maryland Troopers Association Inc., member of AARP, and a member of Parkinson’s Support Group and Rubber Workers Retirement Club.
Friends and family will be received at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Hwy., LaVale, today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Tuesday at LaVale United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bernadette Ross officiating. Visitation will be in the church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Maryland State Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap. Richard Allen "Diesel Jockey" Losh, 58, of Mill Creek, died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was a retired truck driver with Amstan Trucking in Clarksville, Tenn.
He was born March 4, 1944, a son of the late Orville and Lula Detamore Losh.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Nancy Gregory Losh, whom he married Aug. 19, 1966.
Also surviving are two sons, and daughters-in-law, James and Angie Losh, Mill Creek, and Adam and Gina Losh, Elkins; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jerry Barnett, Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, Michael and Amber Phillips, Adam and Ayla Posey, Akyra Losh, Kyle and Seth Barnett; one brother-in-law, Ernie Gregory and wife, Colleen, Conyers, Ga.; one nephew, Keagan Gregory; and two nieces, Kelly Thomason and Kerri Carter.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Sue Kelly Carter Guthrie.
Mr. Losh served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Waccamaw (AO-109) and the USS Kankakee (AO-39) during the Cuban Crisis and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Tygart Valley Volunteer Fire Department, American Legion Post 29 in Elkins, and the West Virginia Muzzleloaders Association Inc. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a true "Mountain Man" at heart. He was a Baptist by faith.

Charles J. Lott, 54, a resident of 274 Country Club Road, Elkins, passed away unexpectedly at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at his residence of an apparent heart attack.
He was born June 5, 1948, at Athens, Ohio, a son of Marie Kathern Lott Streets, who survives at Philippi.
He was united in marriage May 20, 1970, to the former Lulu Belle Armstrong, who survives.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, John David Lott, Tacy community, Philippi, and Charles William and wife, Nora Lott, Elkins; and two grandchildren, Dennis and Cynthia Lott.
He was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Joshua Brady Lott.
He was a fork lift operator for Kingsford Charcoal Plant at Parsons with 32 years service. He was a Vietnam veteran serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Laurel Mountain VFW Post 410 of Belington. He was a United Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 7:30 p.m. today. Jewell Helen Mauller Loudin, 90, a former resident of Valley Bend, passed away at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Elkins.
She was born Oct. 28, 1912, at Upshur County, the daughter of the late Glen Charles and Delphia Cammie Jones Mauller.
On June 29, 1936, at Valley Bend, she was married to Gordon Franklin Loudin Sr., who preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Gordon Franklin Loudin Jr. of Point Pleasant, and Nicholas Glenn Loudin of Philippi; and two brothers, Noel G. Mauller and Willard L. Mauller Sr., both of Valley Bend.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were two brothers, James P. Mauller and Charles Mauller.
Mrs. Loudin was a homemaker and a member of the Valley Bend United Methodist Church.

Reta O. Loudin, 91, of Route 2, Box B-118-A, French Creek, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, in Kelli Dean’s Elder Care under the care of St. Joseph’s Hospital Hospice.
She was born May 21, 1911, in Usphur County, a daughter of the late Roy and Helen Smallridge Smith.
She married Ovel E. Loudin, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are one sister, Willa Brady, McMinneville, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews and a friend, George Tenney, French Creek.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.

Macel Belle Lough, 74, a resident of Frenchton Road, Rock Cave, died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born July 26, 1928 at Chestnut Grove.
Her husband, Alpha Lough, survives at Rock Cave.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Bill (Sue) Adamy, Bolair; one son, John Lough, Rock Cave; one sister, Dacil Anderson, Gassaway; one granddaughter, Dena Adamy, Buckhannon; one grandson, Justin Adamy, Bolair; and one great-grandchild, Dylan Adamy, Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Arnold Bickel; her mother, Elsie Bickel; and one brother, Denzil Bickel.
Mrs. Lough was a homemaker and attended the Pt. Pleasant Chapel in Abbott
She was a re-born Christian. She would have been married 56 years on Oct. 25. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She enjoyed going to gospel sings and loved sewing, crocheting, canning, flower gardening and working puzzle books.

Bessie M. Loughry
Bessie Mae Adams Loughry, 96, a resident of Parsons, and for the past seven years, a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas, departed this life Sunday evening, June 23, 2002, at the nursing home.
She was born Jan. 19, 1906, at Limestone, a daughter of the late Phillip Benton Adams and Florida Mae Shaffer Adams.
On April 10, 1928, at the St. John’s United Methodist Church in Parsons, she was married to Clarence W. Loughry Sr., who preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1995.
Surviving are one daughter, Burma Goff, Parsons; one granddaughter, Twila June Goff Hill and husband, Allen; one great-grandson, Jacob Allen Hill Jr., all of Penny Hall, Md.; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Preceding her in death are one infant son, Clarence Waitman Loughry Jr.; three brothers, Albert Adams, Shelby Ray Adams Sr. and Cecil Roy Adams; and two sisters, Della Pearl Adams Dumire and Evalinna Adams.
She was the mayor’s wife of the Cement Settlement at Preston County. She was a homemaker and a seamstress, and had a little sewing shop in the Cement Settlement.
She was a cook for the Manheim Cement Duster Elementary School and Cement Duster Community Methodist Church of which she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the Ladies Bible class. She was also a member of the Tucker County Senior Center.
Friends will be received at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Arley E. Louk Jr.
Arley Elwood Louk Jr., 58, of Walkersville, Route One, lost his gallant fight with cancer Nov. 8, 2002, at the United Hospital Center at Clarksburg.
He was born at Americus, Ga., Sept. 25, 1944, a son of the late Arley Elwood Louk Sr. and Lillian Irene Lee Louk.
He was married on March 13, 1971, at Newport, R.I., to Linda Colby, who survives along with two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Raymond Louk and wife, Bobbie, of Grovetown, Ga., and Kenneth Wayne Louk and wife, Melinda, of Norfolk, Va.; and two sisters, Shirley Ann Phillips of Proctorville, Ohio, and Alice Jean Gumm of Exchange.
Mr. Louk was a member of Rock Cave Baptist Church. He served as a Sunday school teacher, sound room technician for Taped Ministries. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for 23 years. He was a retired EMCM (SW) and a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1962.
Friends were received at Robert M. Vincent Funeral Home Sunday. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. at Rock Cave Baptist Church with the Rev. David Jessie officiating. Burial followed in Rock Cave Cemetery. The body lied in state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., the funeral hour. Full military graveside services were held. Kevin L. Louk Jr.
Kevin L. Louk Jr., 15, a resident of Route 3, the Georgetown Road, Elkins, where he made his home with his parents, passed away, Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at noon, in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Route 219.
He was born June 3, 1987, at Elkins, a son of Kevin L. Louk Sr. and the late Deborah Jones Louk, who preceded him in death on June 13, 1992.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his stepmother, Sue Gum of the Georgetown Road.

Kevin L. Louk Jr.
Kevin L. Louk Jr., 15, a resident of Route 3, Georgetown Road, Elkins, where he made his home with his parents, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at noon in Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on U.S. 219 north.
Born June 3, 1987, at Elkins, he was the son of Kevin L. Louk Sr., who survives on the Georgetown Road and the late Deborah Jones Louk, who preceded him in death on June 13, 1992. In addition to his father, he is survived by his stepmother, Sue Gum, of the Georgetown Road.
He is survived by a sister, Karen Marie Louk, and fiance, Shawn Breeden, of Pin Oak; a stepsister, Brandi Nicole Wilt, at home; a stepbrother, Rex Allen Wilt, and wife, Uteva, Century; his paternal grandparents, Jurd and Flossie Wegman Louk, Hopewell, Va.; and his maternal grandparents, Roger and Judith Henline Jones, Mill Creek.
Also surviving are two nieces, Shaina Nicole and Stephanie Renee Breeden; a stepniece, Aiyana Blaine Wilt; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.
He would have been entering his sophomore year in August at Elkins High School. He was well known in his neighborhood for helping people because he never met a stranger. He loved to draw and do wood burnings and he also helped his father with wood crafts. He was a lover of all sports and he also liked to fish and hunt.
He was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at the F. E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner Chapel on Monday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Pam Shuman, pastor of the Orlena United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. The casket will remain closed. From 26 Aug 2002.

Louise C. Louk
Louise C. Louk, 73, a resident of Wymer, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born March 29, 1929, at Wymer, the daughter of the late Jason White and the late Eva Haddix White Pennington.
She was married to Grover Louk, who preceded her in death on Aug. 2, 1989.
She is survived by four sons, Grover J. Louk, Wymer, Donald Louk and wife, Darlis, Alpena, Michael Louk, Dry Fork, and Phillip Louk and wife, Leslie, Elkins; two daughters, Nancy Arbogast and husband, Jim, Short Gap, and Phyllis Yokum and husband, Rick, Alpena; two brothers, Richard White and wife, Helen, Athens, Ohio, and Arnold White, Columbus, Ohio; three sisters, Lou Minke, Marietta, Ohio, Trudy Fisher, Canton, Ohio, and Jeanie Weese and husband, Cliff, Akron, Ohio.
Fourteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews also survive.
Also preceding her in death were four brothers, Jason White Jr., Lawrence and Randy White and Cliffie Pennington; and one sister, Geraldine Chewning.
Mrs. Louk was a homemaker and attended the Lambert Mennonite Church. She was involved in community activities and enjoyed family and friends.

Barbara Lovely
Barbara Lovely, 63, of Route 1, Box 251, Beverly, died Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital. Death was attributed to septic shock.
She was born March 13, 1939, in Baltimore, Md.
She was twice married. First, she married Robert Taylor, who preceded her in death. Second, she married William Lloyd Lovely, who survives at Beverly.
Also surviving are one son, Tim Taylor, Dade City, Fla.; two brothers, Robert Biddle, Indiana, and Tommy Biddle, Churchville, Md.; one sister, Mary Johnson, Woodbridge, Va.; and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one stepsister, Virginia Siemon.
She was a presser for Peter Pan Cleaners.

Mary E. Lowman
Mary E. Lowman, 79, of Buckhannon, died Monday, May 20, 2002.
She was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Freda Colvin of Jane Lew.
Surviving are her two sisters, Mrs. Serena Tomaschko of Clarksburg, and Mrs. Anna Hinzman and husband, Thomas, of Weston. Mrs. Lowman's son, Daniel Leigh Lowman, resides in Buckhannon with his wife, Marianna. Her daughter, Libby Lowman Randall, also resides in Buckhannon with her husband, Steve. Her two grandchildren are Jennifer Randall of Washington, D.C., and Scott Randall of Buckhannon. Her two stepgrandchildren are Dreama and Eugene Church of Buckhannon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Roy Leigh Lowman, who practiced as a dentist in Upshur County.
Her activities included: active membership at the First Presbyterian Church, PEO (Chapter A), and Bridge Club of Buckhannon.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and great-aunt whose legacy will be the love and laughter she brought to her family and friends.

Carl Lawson Lowther, 71, of 3870 US Highway 33-West, Weston, passed away, Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital at Weston.
He was born Feb. 22, 1931, in Doddridge County, a son of the late William and Catherine Simons Lowther.
He was twice married, first to Edith Mae Moran, who is deceased. Then he married Ruth Ann Myers on May 30, 1986, at Weston, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Carl L. "Butch" Lowther Jr. of Buckhannon, William Richard Lowther of Tampa, Fla., and Edward Nelson Lowther of Buckhannon; one daughter, Gwynn Denise Karabeika of New Port Ritchie, Fla.; one stepson, Richard Neal Bean, Jacksonville, N.C.; one stepdaughter, Jodi Jones of Davis; seven grandchildren, Jacob T. Lowther, J.T. Lowther, Laura Ashley Lowther, Brandi Shea Lowther, Shalayna Jade Lowther, Jessica Karabeika, Michael E. Karabeika; and nine stepgrandchildren, Carley Jo Bean, Matthew Allen Bean, MacKenzie Layne Jones, Amy Michelle Jones, Adrienne Franks, Catrina Franks, Rachel Franks, Tony Franks and Miranda Grace Bean.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Carlotta Lyn Lowther and Betty Jane Lowther; and one brother.
Mr. Lowther had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked for 23 years for the Department of Mental Health and was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church at Weston.

Joseph A. Luizzi
Joseph Antonio Luizzi, 82, formerly of Providence, R.I., and since 1968 of Horse Shoe Run, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, in Oakland, Md.
Mr. Luizzi was born June 14, 1919, in Providence, R.I., a son of the late Domenico and Carmela Zito Luizzi.
He married Ruth Slaubaugh Luizzi, who preceded him in death in 1995.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Mr. Luizzi was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army. He was a retired auto body repairman. He was a member of Aurora VFD, VFW Post 578 of Terra Alta, American Legion Post 56 and FOE 936 and the First Presbyterian Church of Thomas.

Helen O’Dell Lynch, 83, of Webster Springs, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at home.
She was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Erbacon, a daughter of the late James and Rosa Blankenship O’Dell.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, Webster Springs.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Lynch; three brothers, Clarence, Harry and Charles O’Dell; five sisters, Iva Rock, Eulah Walker, Gladys McClung, Clara Blake and Maxine Cunningham; and one grandson, Dana L. Lynch Jr.
She is survived by six sons, C. Danny, Dana L., Frank D. and Ricky D., all of Webster Springs, Jackie J. of Canvas and C. Ray of Elkins; one daughter, Ruth Ann Hamrick of Webster Springs; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

On Friday she will be moved to First Baptist Church, Webster Springs where friends may call from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Nelson Harris officiating. Raymond E. Lynn, 77, of Summit Ave., Woodstock, Va., died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at his home.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan. The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Valley Funeral Chapel Bowmans Crossing. From 29 July 2002.

Malcolm G. Lyon
Malcolm G. "Mac" Lyon, 87, of the Grant County Nursing Home and formerly of Lahmansville, died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002, at the nursing home where he had resided since July 24, 1997.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the Schaeffer Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Pastor Ted Anderson will officiate and interment will be at the Lahmansville Cemetery. From 4 Nov 2002.
