Eva M. Daniels
Eva Mae Poe Daniels, 84, a former resident of Dailey, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at 4:15 p.m., in Swisher’s Home Care in Beverly. She had been a resident there for the past few weeks.
She was born July 2, 1918, near Kerens, a daughter of the late Urban D. and Lola Leanna Edmond Poe.
On Oct. 1, 1947, in Oakland, Md., she was united in marriage to Bruce "Bee" Daniels, who preceded her in death on April 12, 1986.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lola Collier and husband, Frank, of Mill Creek; one sister, Norma Wilfong of Elkins; one brother-in-law, Herbert Daniels of Dailey; two sisters-in-law, Alta Poe of Elkins, and Arlene Poe of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Johanna Smith and husband, Paul III, of Mill Creek, and Joshua Collier, at home; and 22 nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband were two sisters, Cornelia Workman and Jean Wilmoth; two brothers, Urban and David Poe; and two half sisters, Sylvia Channell and Artie Nutter.
Mrs. Daniels was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Friday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Frank Collier, pastor of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, will officiate and interment will follow in the Elkins Memorial Gardens (formerly the IOOF Cemetery) in Elkins. From 25 July 2002.

Joseph W. Daniels
Joseph William Daniels, 66, a resident of the Chenoweth Creek Road Community, Elkins, where he made his home with his brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Marlene Daniels, departed this life Wednesday evening, Dec. 11, 2002, at his home. He had been in declining health for the past four months and death was attributed to lung cancer.

Mary E. Daniels
Mary Ellen Noonan Daniels, 90, a resident of 1314 South Kerens Ave., Elkins, departed this life at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at Elkins Regional Convalescent Center, following a short illness.
She was born Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1912, at Cumberland, Md., a daughter of the late John William Noonan and Amanda Parrish Noonan McGady.
On Dec. 17, 1930, at Cumberland, Md., she was married to Clyde K. Daniels, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1973.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph W. Daniels, Valdosta, Ga., and John K. "Jack" Daniels I and wife, Marlene, Chenoweth Creek Road Community, Elkins; three grandchildren, John K. Daniels II, Elkins, Lisa Newlon and husband, Chris, Elkins, and Kim Chamberlain and husband, Carl, Riverdale, Md.; and three great-grandchildren, John K. "Jack" Daniels III and Jennifer Paige Daniels, both of Elkins, and Misty Nicole Chamberlain, Riverdale, Md.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Painter and Clydetta Daniels; one brother, one sister and one great-grandson, Michael James McCartney.
Mrs. Daniels was a graduate of the Ursline Academy at Cumberland, Md., and was a homemaker. She was a member of the H.W. Daniel’s United 29, American Legion Auxiliary and the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of Circle 2 and a lifetime member of the administrative board.

Catherine M. Dauber, 94, a former resident of Boston, Mass., and 224 Evergreen Drive, Elkins, nad more recently of Colonial Place, Elkins, departed this life, Tuesday evening, Oct. 29, 2002, at Colonial Place. She had been in declining health for the past year and death was attributed to complications from a stroke.

Catherine M. Dauber
Catherine Mary Dauber, 94, a well-known ecumenical leader and volunteer, a former resident of Boston, Mass., and 224 Evergreen Drive, Elkins, and more recently a resident of Colonial Place in Elkins, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday evening, Oct. 29, 2002, at Colonial Place. She had been in declining health for the past year and death was attributed to complications from a stroke.
She was born Thursday, Jan. 30, 1908, at Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Michael Cyrillus Yeagle and Edith Ritter Yeagle.
On July 15, 1933 in Boston, Mass., she was married to Clarence A. Dauber, president of Charles T. Main Inc., who preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1971.
Surviving are one son, Dr. James H. Dauber and wife, Christine, Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, Judy Guye, Elkins, and Debora Mosher and husband, John, Norfolk, Va.; seven grandchildren, Monica Varchetto and Melodee Price, both of Elkins, Pamela Holland, Boston, Mass., Natalie Hessler, Wooster, Ohio, Jeffrey Mosher, Alexandria, Va., Karen Herron, Raleigh, N.C., and Kimberly Mosher, Buxton, N.C.; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Dauber was a graduate of the Western Reserve University School of Nursing at Cleveland, Ohio, with the class of 1930. She was active in church and civic affairs in Cleveland and was president of Church Women United of Greater Cleveland. Upon moving to Boston, Mass., in 1961, she soon became active in this organization and became president of Church Women United of Massachusetts.
She was a member of the Old South Church and served as trustee and Women’s Guild chairman. In 1969 she was chosen as the first woman moderator of the council and first woman chairman of the trustees of the Old South Church.
Mrs. Dauber served as vice president of the Massachusetts Council of Churches, which awarded her the Forest L. Knapp Ecumenical Award in 1983 for excellence and diligence in advancing unity and mission among churches of the commonwealth.
She served on the board of the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ and was president of the Church League for Civil Welfare.
Besides her church activities, she was active in the YMCA of Boston, was president of the League of Women Voters and received the Carrie Chapman Catt award in recognition of her longtime service to the league.
She was a trainer in the American Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery program and was awarded the cancer society’s St. George Medal for her volunteer work. Also a member of the Ladies Committee of Tuft’s New England Medical Center, she volunteered there for 32 years.
In 1974 she was named State Merit Mother of Massachusetts. She was a member of the board of trustees of Andover-Newton Theological Seminary for 20 years. She served as president of Boston University’s Women’s Council and president of the College Club of Boston.
Cremation services were provided by the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Falter officiating. Interment of cremains will be at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman. Veda N. Daugherty
Veda N. Daugherty, 88, of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Belington and a former resident of the Union community in Philippi, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Oct. 3, 1913, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Virgil and Cora Ervin Daugherty.
She is survived by one sister, Veva Ketchum, Philippi; and one brother, Eugene Daugherty of the Union community.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Erskell, Leon, Eddie and Bertsell Daugherty; and three sisters, Evelyn Findley, Claudette Burner and Novada Sinsel.
Mrs. Daugherty was a former employee of Westinghouse and worked for the railroad depot during World War II.
She was a member of the Union Church of Christ.

Freda Davis
Freda Davis, 95, of 156 Willowdale Apt., Frederick, Md. 21701, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002, in Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, Md.
She was born Jan. 20, 1907, in Upshur County, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Sarepta Hinkle Brake.
She was married to Albert J. Davis, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are three daughters, Alice Cassano, Jefferson, Md., Mildred Connelly, Baltimore, Md., Willa Mae Satzinger, Irvine, Calif.; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mabel Lee Huffman; a son, Charles Robert Davis; and a grandson, Doug Davis.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home Saturday from 11 a.m. until noon, the funeral hour, with the Rev. Lloyd Tenney officiating. Interment will follow in Bailey Cemetery at Bailey Ridge. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinsons or Alzheimers Foundation. From 18 Oct 2002.

Gerald L. Davis Sr.
Gerald Lee Davis Sr., 76, a resident of 110 Graham St., passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 15, 1926, at Weston, a son of the late William Oren and Eula May Westfall Davis.
On Aug. 27, 1950, at Fairmont, he married the former Velma Lorraine Lowe, who preceded him in death on Feb. 12, 1987.
He is survived by three sons, Gerald L. Davis Jr. of Columbia, S.C., William F. "Jeff" Davis of Morgantown, and Gregory P. Davis of Elkins; one daughter, Beverly Anne Davis Wamsley of Mill Creek; five grandchildren, Breanna and Brock Wamsley, Erica, Ashley and Lalien Davis; and one great-grandson, Donavon Wiles.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William D. Davis.
Mr. Davis was a veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry, where he obtained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He served in World War II and the Korean War. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Purple Heart for wounds he received in the Southern Philippines Operation on the Island of Cebu, and the Bronze Star.
From 1952 until 1988, he remained in the U.S. Army Reserve, 354th Ordinance Unit in Morgantown until his retirement in 1988. Other major military awards were Army Commendation Medal with Cluster and the Army achievement medal, which were awarded to him along with the commendation medal on his last active duty assignment at Fort Drum, N.J. in 1986 and 1987. He spent 44 years with the military while completing 37 years in the retail footwear business, managing stores in Pennsylvania, Virginia and Maryland before settling in Elkins. He managed the Fort Pitt Shoe Store in Elkins from 1966 to 1979. When Fort Pitt Shoe was sold to Madison Shoes, he served as manager until 1985. He was employed in shipping and receiving at Peebles Inc. of Elkins. He was a member of the Acacia Lodge No. 157 AF & AM of Fairmont, the Reserve Officers Association of America, Tygart Valley Post No. 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and H.W. Daniels Post No. 29 American Legion. He was active with the Randolph County Senior Center and served as neighborhood coordinator for the Leukemia Society and the Mothers March of Dimes. He was a member of the Wayside United Methodist Church of Elkins and the United Methodist Men’s organization where he was presently serving as president and was a member of the United Methodist Men’s Chorus.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mary Ann Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by members of Tygart Valley Post 3647 and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. Masonic graveside rites will be accorded by members of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM. From 16 Sep 2002.

Marcus L. Davis
Marcus Lew Davis, 21, a resident of Valley Head, where he made his home with his grandparents, James and Judy Jones, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at 6:10 a.m. at Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since early Saturday morning. Death was attributed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born June 23, 1980, in Elkins, a son of G. Franklin T. Davis and Vicki Jones Fisher, who survive in Pfafftown, N.C.
Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Thomas H. and Nancy T. Davis.
He attended Tygarts Valley and Pocahontas County schools. At the time of his death, he was employed by Snowshoe as a switchboard operator. His loves were the outdoors, snow boarding, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family and friends. He was a Protestant by faith.
At the request of the deceased the remains were cremated. A memorial services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the home of his grandparents, James and Judy Jones, Route 15, Valley Head. The Rev. Elizabeth "Butch" Baker, pastor of the Brookhaven United Methodist Church in Morgantown, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made in Mark’s name to the Rosenbaum Family House, W.Va. Mary Long Davis, 92, a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2002, at the nursing home. Mary Davis
Mary Long Davis, 92, a resident of Cortland Acres Nursing Home at Thomas, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2002, at the nursing home. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to a stroke.
She was born Feb. 17, 1910, at Otter Creek, a daughter of the late Abel Norman Long and Boena Teter Long.
On Nov. 5, 1929, she was married to Guy George Davis, who preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1984.
Surviving are two sons, Junior H. Davis and wife, Annie Evadot, of Hendricks, and Verl A. "Nubby" Davis and wife, Elsie, Parsons; five grandchildren, Arthur "Punk" Davis and wife, Eva, of Hambleton, Vickie Hedrick of Location Road, Barbara Dearborn and husband, Calvin, of Huddleston, Va., Kathy Hovatter and husband, Richard, of St. George, and V.J. Davis and wife, Angie, of Fairmont; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by five brothers, Riley Long, Paul Long, Joe Long, Okey Long and Ora Long; three sisters, Cora Phillips, Texie Carr and Lillie Grady; and one granddaughter, Susan J. Hershman.
She attended the one-room school at Otter Creek. She was a member of the Parsons Church of God and was a homemaker.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Friday at 11 a.m. Pastor Eli Hostetler will officiate and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons. Opal M. Davis
Opal Mallow Davis, 90, of Davis, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas.
She was born March 21, 1912, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Jasper and Lena Bennett Mallow.
She is survived by one daughter, Marie Miller of Fruitland Park, Fla.; three brothers, Forrest Mallow of Madison, Ohio, Herbert Mallow of Red Creek, and Keith Mallow of Dry Fork; one sister, Velma Ritchie of Madison, Ohio; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clement Davis; one son, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Davis was a homemaker and a farmer and was a member of the Dry Fork Assembly of God Church.

Virginia Davis
Virginia "Genny" Davis, 72, a resident of Route 1, Independence community, Philippi, passed away at 11:04 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care.
She was born Aug. 30, 1929, in Kanawha County, a daughter of the late Tom Jr. and Cora Kennedy Green.
She was united in marriage on June 7, 1947, to Enoch S. Davis, who preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1994.
Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas W. and wife, Connie L. Davis, Lynn R. and wife, Rhonda Davis, and Frank L. and wife, Diana Davis, all of Route 1, Philippi; three sisters, Leatrice Hodge, Chesapeake, Erma Perry, Belle, and June Hawkins, South Charleston; two brothers, Tommy Browning, Acme, and Bill Green, South Charleston; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Billie; one grandson, Craig Davis; and one sister.
She was a homemaker and a member of Union Church of Christ.

Creola H. Davy
Creola H. Gum Davy, 85, a former resident of the Midland community near Elkins, and a patient at Nella’s Inc. in Crystal Springs, passed away at 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 21, 1917, at Mill Creek, a daughter of the late Joseph and Birchey Currence Gum.
On Oct. 15, 1938, at Elkins, she married Victor R. Davy, who preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1969.
She is survived by one son, Victor L. Davy of Salisbury, N.C.; one daughter, Janice A. Kyle and husband, Jeffrey, of Elkins; a special niece, Mrs. Marc (Stephanie Spencer) Humpris of Harker Heights, Texas, who made her home with Mrs. Davy; one sister, Jo Ann Phares of Elkins; a great-niece and nephew, C.J. and Emily Humphris.
Preceding her in death were five brothers, John Gum, Woodrow "Woody" Gum, Robert "Shorty" Gum, Olan "Pete" Gum and James "Jim" Gum; and one sister, Lula Haddix.
Mrs. Davy was a 1935 graduate of Beverly High School. She had worked for the Western Maryland Credit Union and retired from the U.S. Forest Service where she worked with the Older Americans Program. She was an active member of the Elkins Church of the Nazarene where she served as church treasurer for 29 years and church custodian for 15 years.
She was Nazarene World Missionary treasurer for eight years and primary boys and junior girls Sunday School teacher for several years.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Monday, Mrs. Davy will be moved to Elkins Church of the Nazarene where friends may call from noon until 1 p.m., the funeral hour. Harshall W. Day
Harshall William Day, 75, of Dryfork, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2002, at his residence.
He was born June 2, 1926, in Dryfork, a son of the late William Edward and Gettie Bell Flanagan.
He is survived by his wife, Gaye Snyder Day, of Dryfork; and one sister, Flornia Long of Tunnelton.
He was preceded in death by five sisters.
Mr. Day was self employed in the salvage business. He was affiliated with Bethel Church of the Brethren in Lanesville.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bethel Church of the Brethren in Lanesville with the Rev. Joe Mininger officiating. Interment will follow in Flanagan Memorial Cemetery. From 15 Mar 2002

John B. Day Jr., 82, of Selma, N.C., and formerly of Arthur, Berryville, Va., and New Holland, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Warren Kelly Day, 71, of Hambleton, died early Friday morning, Jan. 25, 2002, at his home. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Aug. 19, 1930, at Harman, the son of Nellie E. Hinkle Day, who survives at Hambleton, and the late William Theodore Day.
He was twice married, first to Marie Corbett Day, who preceded him in death. On Dec. 22, 2001, he married the former Linda Harris Cross, who survives.
Surviving are one son, Danny Day, Hambleton; one daughter, Donna Gutshall and husband, David, Spartanburg, S.C.; one stepson, Thomas N. Cross, Riverton; one stepdaughter, Shelly R. Cross, Parsons; one brother, William "Bill" Day, Holly Meadows; two sisters, Eloise Koskela and husband, John, and Peggy Disney and husband, Warren, all of Silver Spring, Md.; 10 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Kelly Day; one daughter, Terry Ann Bennett; and one brother, Kenneth Jack Day.
Mr. Day attended Parsons High School and was a member of the football squad. He served with the U.S. Army, was a police officer for many years for the city of Parsons and taught carpentry at the Davis Center for the West Virginia Department of Corrections where he retired in 1994.
He was a Protestant.

Alan Grim "Slate" DeBarr, 62, of 7 Pringle Tree Road, Buckhannon, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2002, at 1:58 p.m. in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Dec. 16, 1939, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Freeman and Alma Grim DeBarr.
On March 12, 1961, he married Joyce A. Liggett DeBarr, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Doug DeBarr and wife, Martina, Fairfax, Va., and David DeBarr and wife, Charlene, Buckhannon; one brother, Victor DeBarr, Buckhannon; two grandsons, Christopher DeBarr and Joseph DeBarr, both of Buckhannon; and two granddaughters, Danielle DeBarr and Missy DeBarr, both of Fairfax, Va.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Freeman Lin DeBarr.
Mr. DeBarr was a letter carried for the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of the Buckhannon Fire Board and attended Christian Fellowship.

Charles Robert DeBarr Sr., 59, of 9 1/2 Lumber St., Buckhannon, died at 10:38 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at his home in Buckhannon.
He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Upshur County, a son of the late Willie Ford and Blanche Mae Smith DeBarr.
On Aug. 30, 1963, he married Sherry E. Wilfong DeBarr, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two sons, Charles Robert DeBarr Jr. and Dale Wayne DeBarr, both of Buckhannon; two daughters, Judy Ann DeBarr Anderson, Belington, and Vickie Ellen DeBarr Hill, Buckhannon; two brothers, Donald DeBarr, Buckhannon, and Willie DeBarr, Wheeling; three grandsons, Joshua B. Harris, Buckhannon, and Charles Wesley Anderson and Michael Drew Anderson, both of Belington; and three granddaughters, Samantha N. DeBarr and Brinanna E. Hill, both of Buckhannon, and DeAnna B. DeBarr, French Creek.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Ford DeBarr; mothers, Blanche Mae Smith DeBarr and Flora Mae Smith; and two brothers, Gerald DeBarr and Ronald DeBarr.
He worked in the finishing department for Corhart. He was a member of the K of P Lodge of Buckhannon and attended Sand Run Baptist Church.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Sunday, he will be moved to Sand Run Baptist Church, where he will lie in state from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Harold Z. DeBarr, 76, of 891 CR 485 A, Lake Panasoffkee, Fla., died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at his home in Panasoffkee, Fla.
He was born June 13, 1926, at Ten Mile, a son of the late Carl DeBar Sr. and Rose Hollen DeBarr.
Surviving are one brother, Carl DeBarr and wife, Sue, Ashtabula, Ohio; four sisters, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Hinkle, Glen Burnie, Md., Mrs. Lee (Kathleen) Baker, Lady Lake, Fla., Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Sheet, and Mrs. Raymond (Helen) Hall, all of Buckhannon; one sister-in-law, Joan DeBarr, Glen Burnie, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jimmy Lee DeBarr.
He retired as a security guard from a bank in Tampa, Fla. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the Florida VFW and the Moose. He was a Methodist by faith.

George Arnett Dean, 92, of Route 4, Box 391, Buckhannon, died Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
Mr. Dean was born April 12, 1910, in Buckhannon, a son of the late William and Ida Mae Mick Dean.
On Dec. 24, 1929, he married Zelda Wolfe Dean, who survives in Buckhannon.
Also surviving are two daughters, Edith Kelly and husband, Walter, Pittsburgh, Pa., and Joanne Scruggs and husband, Lonnie, Chesapeake, Va.; three sons, George Edward Dean, Buckhannon, Larry Dean, Culpeper, Va., and Gale and wife, Linda Dean, Duck, N.C.; one son-in-law, Dalton Tenney, Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Elaine Tenney; one sister, Ava Nelly; one brother, Bonita "Jim" Dean; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Dean was an asphalt plant superintendent for Black Rock Inc. He attended Mount Rupert United Methodist Church in Upshur County.

Maude Ruth Dean, 92, a resident of 103 Gilmore St., Elkins, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 30, 1910, at Beverly, a daughter of the late Bolivar H. Barb and the late Hannah A. Phillips Barb.
She was married to Clatis Austin Dean, who preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 1984.
She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Gillespie, Gallopolis, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jerry, Michael and Robert Cunningham and Judy Fisher; and three great-grandchildren.
Also preceded her in death was one grandson, Jimmy Cunningham; six brothers and seven sisters.
Mrs. Dean was a homemaker and enjoyed crafting and was an avid quilter. She was a Protestant by faith.

Alice M. Defibaugh
Alice Mae Campbell Defibaugh, 90, a resident of Hillview Personal Care Home, Claysville, Pa., formerly of Belington, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, in the Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa.
She was born Oct. 15, 1912, in Doddridge or Ritchie County, a daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth (Wilcox) Wyant Stout and the late Mr. Wyant.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hubert Dale Campbell and by her second husband, Dexter Defibaugh.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Bradford Dewayne "Bud" Campbell and Clifford Dale Campbell; and by two grandsons, John Daniel Campbell and Willard Dewayne Campbell.
Surviving are four grandchildren, Richard Dale Campbell, Morgantown, Kimberly McDonald, Aurora, Ill., Pamela Chandler, Beverly, and Tamela "Toad" Campbell, Volga; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Campbell, Belington; former daughter-in-law, Vaughn Welch, St. Albans; eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Defibaugh had owned and operated several restaurants and taverns.
At the request of the deceased, her body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at a later date and her ashes will be interred in the Belington Fraternal Cemetery. The Schoonover-Stemple Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements. From 14 Dec 2002.

Regina Lynn Deitsch, an infant, of Heather Highlands, Inkerman section of Jenkins Township, Pa., died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002, in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Township.
She was born Feb. 12, 2002, in Plains Township, the daughter of Gary Lynn and Donna Lee Davis Dietsch, who survive in Heather Highlands.
She is also survived by one sister, Emily Lynn Dietsch, at home; a maternal grandmother, Betty Jane Wilkins Davis, Inkerman; a paternal grandmother, Ruby Eleanora Clark Kremmel, Ivy; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfathers, Paul Hartzel Dietsch and Elmer William Kremmel, and maternal grandfather, Theodore Baird Davis.

Albert M. Delaney
Albert M. "Jim" Delaney, 82, of Mims, Fla., died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at Parrish Medical center.
He was born May 29, 1919, in Parsons, a son of the late Francis Earl Delaney and Ida Myrtle Baker Delaney Dye.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita "Win" of Mims, Fla.; one son, Thomas of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Marian of Huntsville, Ala., Martha Walls of New Market, Ala., and Donna Delaney of Cocoa, Fla; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one brother, Earl "Mutt" Delaney of Parsons; and two sisters, Marijane Martin of Holly Meadows Country Club Road, and Betty Jennings of Redhouse.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Tommy; and two sisters, Pauline and Dorine.
Mr. Delaney graduated from Parsons High School in 1936. He was a veteran of World War II, retiring as a major. He went to Brevard County, Fla., in 1978 from Huntsville, Ala. He retired as an engineer for NASA where he worked for 30 years. He also worked for USBI for 15 years. He was a member of Spirit Fire World Outreach Church in Titusville.
Funeral services were held at North Brevard Funeral Home in Titusville, Fla. From 24 May 2002.

V. Eugene Delauder
Vurcle Eugene "Gene" Delauder, 68, a resident of Laurel View Apartments, Belington, died Thursday, May 30, 2002, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born Aug. 28, 1933, at Weaver, the son of the late Wade and Myrtle Mae Phillips Delauder.
Survivors include two sisters, Wanda Suder and Catherine Charles, both of Belington; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, the Rev. Nelson T. Delauder, and by an infant brother and sister, who were twins.
Mr. Delauder was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Belington Church of Christ.
Mr. Delauder was a former housekeeper in the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center and retired as a park attendant at Audra State Park.

Domenic James Delconte, of Franklin Park, Pa., 23, beloved son of Vincent and Bonnie, and loving brother of Maria, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002.
He was in his final year as a pharmacy student studying at Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind., scheduled to graduate with a doctor of pharmacy degree in May 2003.
He was the beloved grandson of James and Concetta Delconte of Clairton, Pa., and Corinne Blasko of Irwin, Pa., and the late Michael Blasko; and the dearly loved nephew of Linda Delconte Kushner and Larry Kushner of Washington, Pa.; John Delconte of Richmond, Va., Marsha and Tony Berardo of Greensburg, Pa., Karen and Rob Steward of Irwin, Pa., and Mike Blasko of Irwin.
Also surviving are his close cousins, Anthony Berardo of Gaithersburg, Md., Angela Berardo Rain of Trafford, Pa., Robert Stewart and Kelly Stewart Brady of Michigan, Loren Blasko of Virginia, Leah and Lindsey Blasko of Irwin, Pa., and Anthony and Michael Kushner of Washington, Pa.
He was born in Elkins, on Nov. 16, 1978.
He attended Randolph County Schools and North Allegheny Schools in the Local Pittsburgh area. He graduated from Riverdale Baptist High School in Upper Marlboro, Md., class of 1977 and was a member of the 1997 Riverdale High School Maryland State Championship Baseball team. He went on to sign to play Division I baseball at Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind., and was unable to continue due to illness. Previously in 1992, he was a member of the West Virginia State Babe Ruth Championship Team in Elkins.

Margaret Francis "Margie" DeMastes, 73, of Route 1, French Creek, died at her home Monday, June 3, 2002.
She was born at Arlington, on Oct. 2, 1929, a daughter of the late Russell Hudson and Jessie Rexroad Fidler.
She was married to Willard G. "Jim" DeMastes at Weston on April 24, 1948, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy W. DeMastes and wife, Patty, of Louisville, Tenn., Richard H. DeMastes and wife, Helen, of Buckhannon, and Robert G. DeMastes and wife, Jenny, of Charles Town; one daughter and son-in-law, Tomandra Jane Lindsey and husband, Larry, of Marriville, Tenn.; one sister, Isabelle Rusz of Steven City, Va.; 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Fidler.
Mrs. DeMastes was a member of the Fidler family who owned and founded the Historical Fidler Mill located at Arlington, and was a member of the Pleasant Dale Baptist Church at Arlington.

Fred Gerald DeMotto Sr., 84, a resident of Coalton, departed this life at 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at his residence. He had been in declining health for the past year and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born on June 11, 1918, at Coalton, a son of the late Andrew DeMotto and Ameilia Mastroguiseppe DeMotto.
He was twice married. First, he married the former Mary Elizabeth Kemp, who preceded him in death in 1978.
On May 21, 1983, he was married to the former Eleanor Currence, who survives at Coalton.
Also surviving are two sons, Fred "Jerry" DeMotto Jr., Beverly, and John Vincent DeMotto, Coalton; two daughters, Janet Faye Whitehead and husband, Tom, West Palm Beach, Fla., and Mary "Jean" Brown and husband, Ed, Atlanta, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Elaine Brumfield and husband, Rufus, Severn, Md.; two brothers, Andy DeMotto and Tony DeMotto and wife, Jessie, all of Coalton; one sister, Helen Rossi, Coalton; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Joe, Jimmy, Sunday and Carlo; one infant brother, two sisters, Minnie Vince and Amelia Reily; and an infant grandson, Christopher.
He attended the schools of Coalton, was a coal miner for more than 60 years and was the co-owner, former vice president and at the time of his death was president of the DeMott-Peerless Coal Co. at Pickens. He was a member of the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton and attended the Kynette United Methodist Church at Norton. He was well known for his expertise in gardening and was an avid outdoorsman.
Friends will be received at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Wednesday at 7 p.m. from the funeral home chapel a prayer service will be recited by the Rev. Father William Anderson. Final rites will be conducted on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Anderson and the Rev. Mary Ann Corley officiating. Stephen B. Derry, 8, the son of Robin and Diane Montgomery Murphy of Buckhannon, the Macedonia community, passed away Friday, April 26, 2002, at his home.
Mr. Derry was born Oct. 6, 1993, in Charlotte, N.C.

She was born May 23, 1909, at Clay, a daughter of the late Joseph Lawrence and Ella Jane Hall McGraw.
Surviving are three sons, Earl J. Dodrill, Apex, N.C., Hartsell Dodrill, Mt. Gilead, Ohio, and Donald L. Dodrill, Haines City, Fla.; one sister, Audrey Swecker, Broaddus Long Term Care, Philippi; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Dodrill was a retired coal miner, having last worked for Badger Coal Mines. He was a member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 VFW and attended the Friendship Community Church. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Friends will be received at Friendship Community Church today after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Friendship Community Church Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Eddie Kyle, pastor of the church and the Rev. Kenneth L. Dodrill will officiate. Interment will follow in Valley Head Cemetery at Valley Head. Henry Curtis Dolly, 87, of Seneca Rocks, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at his residence.

Mason Roosevelt "Mace" Dolly, 73, of Petersburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at Hapshire Health Care Center in Romney where he had resided since Sept. 18.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Schaeffer Funeral Home where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Tommy George will officiate and interment will follow in the Dolly Family Cemetery at Cabins. From 8 Nov 2002.

Sara J. Donaldson
Sara Jane Donaldson, 78, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past three years, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
She was born Jan. 9, 1924, a daughter of the late Audy Yost and Mabelle Blaker Cunningham.
On July 21, 1951, she was married to Douglas "Sid" Donaldson, who preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1998.
She is survived by one son, Douglas Yost Donaldson of Elkins; one daughter, Cheryl Donaldson Mason, Cullman, Ala.; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Jonathon and Andrea Mason.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, John Blaker Cunningham and Yost Cunningham.
Mrs. Donaldson was a graduate of Elkins High School. She had been employed as a secretary at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., a former dental assistant for Dr. Shreves in Elkins, and was formerly employed as the church secretary at Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a charter member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
At the request of the deceased her remains were cremated. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements. From 13 Apr 2002.

Sara J. Donaldson
Sara Jane Donaldson, 78, a resident of Elkins, and a patient in Elkins Regional Convalescent Center for the past three years, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2002, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
At the request of the deceased her remains were cremated. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery. The Rev. Fred Bird will officiating and interment will follow. From 27 Apr 2002.

Lloyd K. Doyle
Lloyd K. Doyle, 73, a resident of Monterville, passed away Saturday morning, June 22, 2002, at his home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1926, in Monterville, a son of the late Jesse and Ada Tumblin Doyle.
He was married to Gwen Doyle, who survives at Monterville.
Also surviving are two sons, Jeffrey Doyle and wife, Phyllis, Valley Head, and Bradley Doyle and wife, Brenda, Philippi; one stepson, Michael Dean and wife, Luann, Washington, D.C.; one daughter, Lisa Vechrey, Mantua, Ohio; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Daniel (Roberta) Tiesler, Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. David (Rebecca) Harrington, Garrettsville, Ohio, and Mrs. Kenneth (Richelle) Roy of Valley Head; two brothers, Willard Doyle, Elmira, N.Y., and Gene Doyle and wife, Sandra, of Elkins; one sister, Mrs. Larry (Mary Ann) Rodgers of Milton; and several grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Jesse Doyle Jr., Delbert and Hubert Doyle.
Mr. Doyle was employed by General Motors Corp., in Cleveland, Ohio, until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Cowger United Methodist Church, the Ruritan Club and the Valley Head Community Building Committee.
Friends were received at Cowger United Methodist Church near Monterville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Cowger United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Baer officiating. Interment will follow in Mingo Cemetery. At the request of the family, flowers are to be omitted. Contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northern West Virginia, 1000 Dupont Road, Box 7, Morgantown, W.Va. 26505 in memory of Mr. Doyle. Timothy M. Duffield
Timothy Michael Duffield, 16, of Liberty, Utah, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in Liberty, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born May 15, 1986, in Cedar City, Utah, a son of Daniel Joseph and Gloria Jean Horton Duffield, who survives at Liberty, Utah.
Tim was a student at Weber High School. He was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church in Liberty. Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball, snow skiing, computers, art, and drawing.
Surviving are two brothers and one sister, Matthew William Duffield, Liberty, Utah, Joel Micah Duffield and Amy Jean Duffield, both of Washington Terrace, Utah.
He is also survived by his grandmothers, Eleanor Horton, Coleman, Mich., Beverly Duffield, Ovid, Mich.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his grandfathers, Ellis Horton and Hobart Duffield.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Bible Church, 181 No. Flint Street, Kaysville, Utah, with Pastor Dominic Gonino officiating. Friends were received at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., North Ogden, Utah on Monday, and today at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will follow in Liberty, Utah Cemetery. Nannie M. Duggan
Nannie Mae Duggan, 90, a resident of Jacksonville, Fla., departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born in Sarasota, Fla., and moved to Leesburg, Fla., from West Virginia in 1973.
She is survived by one son, Harry Duggan Jr. and wife, Anna Mae, Mercersberg, Pa.; one daughter, Carolyn Gordon and husband, Edsel, Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Wesley and Dewain Duggan; four brothers, Richard, Robert, Jesse and Pud Thomas; and one sister, Juanita Anderson.
She was a homemaker and was a Protestant.

Nannie M. Duggan
Nannie Mae Duggan, 90, a resident of Jacksonville, Fla., departed this life Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, at Jacksonville, Fla.
She was born June 3, 1912, in Sarasota, Fla. She moved back to Florida in 1973, and made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Edsel Gordon.
On June 12, 1930, in Leesburg, Fla., she married Harry L. Duggan Sr., who preceded her in death in 1973. Mr. Duggan was the constable and justice of the peace in Elkins.
She is survived by one son, Harry Duggan, Jr. and wife, Anna Mae, Mercersberg, Pa.; one daughter, Carolyn Gordon and husband, Edsel, Jacksonville, Fla.; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She grew up in Leesburg, Fla., and she and her husband moved to Elkins in 1941. Through the years, they owned Try-Me Cleaners in Elkins and also owned D&H Furniture on Davis Avenue. She was a homemaker and was a Protestant.

Beatrice M. Dumire
Beatrice Marie Dumire, 79, of Davis, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2002, at her home.
Friends were received Sunday at Hinkle Funeral Home. Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Glen Dumire officiating. Interment followed in Davis Cemetery. From 15 Apr 2002.

Lyda F. Dumire
Lyda Faye Dumire, 75, of 212 Chestnut St., Philippi, formerly of Valley Furnace Community, died Sunday evening, Sept. 22, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care Facility, following an extended illness.
She was born June 16, 1927, in Brushy Fork Community, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Clarence James and Sarah Catherine Poling Auvil.
On April 5, 1947, she was married to Clyde Dale Dumire, who preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 1987.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Connie Charlene and Stephen Harshberger, Mt. Morris Community; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward Dale and Barbara Dumire, Shenandoah, Va., Fred Len and Brenda Dumire, Kasson, Ted Glenn Dumire, Fredericksburg, Va., and Randall Lee and Renee Dumire, Taneytown, Md.; two brothers, John Auvil, Elkins, and Noble Auvil, St. George; four sisters, Nellie Auvil, St. George, Goldie Wilson, Sylvia Boyle and Caroline Poling, all of Philippi; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Laura Poling, Elnora Poling and Pearl Wratchford; and four brothers, Walter Auvil, Junior Ray Auvil, Wayne Auvil and Robert Lee Auvil.
Mrs. Dumire was a homemaker and was an avid gardener. She was a member of the Brushy Fork United Brethren Church.
Friends will be received at Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday, when funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Virgil Q. Dumire
Virgil Quinten Dumire, 80, a resident of the Limestone Community, St. George, departed this life Tuesday evening, Oct. 22, 2002, at Swisher’s Private Home Care in Elkins. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.

Virgil Q. Dumire
Virgil Quinten Dumire, 80, a resident of the Limestone community, St. George, departed this life Tuesday evening, Oct. 22, 2002, at Swisher’s Private Home Care in Elkins. He had been in declining health and death was attributed to cancer.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1923, at Limestone, a son of Clarence Dumire and Sara Miller Dumire.
On June 25, 1949, at Red House, Md., he was married to the former Wilda "Jean" Loughry, who survives. They had celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Also surviving are three brothers, Donald Dumire, Ohio, Harold Dumire, Michigan, and Richard Dumire and wife, Cindy, Michigan; two sisters, Elgene Sell, Michigan, and Lenora Wilkison, Ohio; and four nieces.
He attended the one-room school at Limestone. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a Methodist.
The family will receive friends at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Saturday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Hazel Elizabeth Macomber Dunham, 93, a former resident of 400 Wilson St., Elkins, and more recently a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington, departed this life at 6 a.m. today, July 19, 2002, at Davis Memorial Hospital. She had been in declining health.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and are under the direction of the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home. From 19 July 2002.

Hazel E. Dunham
Hazel Elizabeth Macomber Dunham, 93, a former resident of 400 Wilson St., Elkins, and more recently a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center at Belington, departed this life at 6 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2002, at the Davis Memorial Hospital at Elkins. She had been in declining health and death was attributed to Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born May 22, 1909, at the Macomber community near Rowlesburg, a daughter of the late Glenn Schofield Macomber and Flora Berlinda Miller Macomber.
On Oct. 8, 1928, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Carl Willis Dunham, who preceded her in death on Dec. 9, 1980.
She is survived by one brother, James Warren Macomber and wife, Betty, Bluefield; one sister-in-law, Monna C. Macomber, Elkins; and several neices and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, John Maurice Macomber, Charles Russel Macomber, Glenn Dudley Macomber; and one sister, Audrey Ellan Falconer.
She was a graduate of Elkins High School and West Virginia Business College, had worked as a salesperson, and was a member of the John Hart Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star, the White Shrine of Jerusalem, the Delphia Rebekah Lodge No. 62, and the Daughters of America, where she had served as state councilor and as national deputy in 1955.
She was also a member of the Lady Templars, the Elkins-Randolph County Senior Center and the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she had served as past president and was an honorary life member of the Women of the Church.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Sunday at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Jeff Falter will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens. From 20 July 2002.
