Charlotte K. Adkins
Charlotte Kirby Adkins, 73, of Route 1, Keyser, died on Thursday, March 14, 2002, at Potomac Valley Hospital in Kerens.
She was born March 12, 1929, in Bluefield, a daughter of the late Claude and Josephine Crabtree Kirby.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Claude E. Kirby of Oak Hill.
Mrs. Adkins was a retired Mineral County High School teacher. She was a graduate of Beaver High School, West Virginia Wesleyan, West Virginia University with a masters degree in education, and graduate work from Marshall University. She taught at Poca High School, Harman High School, Petersburg High School, Piedmont High School and retired from the Frankfort High School.
She was a member of the Keyser Presbyterian Church, Walter Chapter 43 OES Davis at Thomas, a retired West Virginia Teachers Association, AD Pi Sorority and a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary at Harman.
Surviving are her husband, Golden B. Adkins; one daughter, Sylvia Joe Adkins of Keyser; two sons, G. Butler Adkins of Huntington, and E. Kirby Adkins and wife, Doriine A. of Keyser; and one sister, Carol E. Cameresi of Roanoke, Va.
Friends will be received at Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday at Keyser Presbyterian Church from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, with the Rev. Lois Patricia Albury
Lois Patricia "Pat" Moellendick Albury, 72, a resident of 301 Grant St., Elkins, departed this life late Thursday evening, Nov. 14, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She had been in declining health since August.
She was born Sunday, Jan. 26, 1930, at New Martinsville, the daughter of the late Curtis Kenneth Moellendick and Florence Bowen Moellendick.
On Nov. 14, 1952, at New Martinsville, she was married to Murphy David "Murph" Albury Jr., who preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 2001.
Surviving are one daughter, Rita Marie Albury, Montgomery; three brothers, John and Joe Moellendick, both of New Martinsville, and David Moellendick, Sistersville; two sisters, Nancy Staley and husband, Bernard, and Kathy McGuire and husband, Ron, all of New Martinsville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph "Arnold" Albury; and one daughter, Ellen Cecile Albury.
Mrs. Albury was a graduate of Magnolia High School with the class of 1947, was a graduate of Davis & Elkins College with an associate degree in business, was a former employee of the Monongahela Power Company at New Martinsville, had worked as a secretary at Elkins High School for over 25 years and retired from the Randolph County Board of Education office in 1988.
She had served as a cheerleader coach and tennis coach at Elkins High School; was a member of the St. Brendan Catholic Church, the Holy Rosary Guild of the church, Davis & Elkins College Aid; was selected as Secretary of the Year by the Beta Alpha Beta business fraternity in 1987; was a member and past president of the Ladies of the Elks, was a member and past president of the Randolph County School Personnel; was the author of the "Rags to Riches" cookbook, which is well known in the area; was a former chairperson of the Holly Ball, was a former chairperson of Hallie Days at Davis & Elkins College; and played an active role in the Forest Festival Queen’s Ball.
Mrs. Albury and her husband were well-known teachers of ballroom dancing.
Friends will be received at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. On Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home, a prayer service will be recited by the Rev. Father William Anderson. On Monday morning, Mrs. Albury will be moved to the St. Brendan Catholic Church, where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. She was born Dec. 1, 1918, at Junior, a daughter of the late James Claude and Orpha "Kay" McDonald.
She was formerly married to Thomas Alkire, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, William Edward Alkire, Huntsville, Ala., and John H. Alkire, Los Angeles, Calif.; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a special niece, Becky Fletcher, Elkins.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Dorsey McDonald; and four sisters, Anna Goss, Lena Boserman, Lucille Quarry and Alma McCauley. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Alkire was a 1938 graduate of Belington High School and attended the Davis & Elkins College. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Junior and was retired from the Myers Clinic in Philippi.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when services will be conducted from the funeral home parlor with the Rev. Robert E. Allison
Robert Ellsworth Allison, 72, a resident of Garrettsville, Ohio, and a former resident of Parsons, departed this life Monday afternoon, Oct. 21, 2002, in Ravenna, Ohio. Death was attributed to cancer.
He was born Jan. 24, 1930, at Oil City, Pa., a son of the late Verda Allison and Myrtle Blosser Allison.
On July 7, 1984, he married Shirley Snyder Bennett, who survives at Garrettsville, Ohio.
Surviving are one son, Robert Allison; three daughters, Debbie Allison, Bonnie Allison and Jane White, all of Wisconsin; one stepson, Charles Bennett Jr. of Ohio; three stepdaughters, Shirley Plum of West Virginia, Ginger Bennett and Cindy Bennett, both of Ohio; one sister, Lois Jackson of Pennsylvania; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
He was employed by GMC for 28 years as a towmotor operator. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and farming.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barb & Greenlief Funeral Home. John M. Allman
John M. Allman, 72, of Carlisle Twp., died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at his home following a long illness.
Mr. Allman was born in Arlington, a son of the late Clark and Tressie Samples Allman, and has been a resident of Carlisle Twp. since 1957.
He was married for 50 years to the former Jean Marley, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Darlene Tribby, Grafton, and Deanne May, Kingwood, Texas; a sister, Dotti Bosley, Arlington; and four brothers, Charles, Dayton, Ohio, David, Buckhannon, Okey, DeGraff, Ohio, and Dale, Huntington.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Caryl; and a brother, Bob.
Mr. Allman was a teacher for the Elyria City Schools at Crestwood Elementary for 31 years, retiring in 1986. He also worked part-time for Bryan Osborne Painting after retirement.
He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the VFW Post 1079 in Elyria, Ohio, where he was past commander of the Military Order of Purple Heart No. 473. He was also a member of ICD (Internal Cardiac Defibrillator) at EMH Regional Medical Center. He was a life member of the Ohio PTA, and enjoyed gardening and reading.
Friends may call Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home, Chestnut Ridge Road at state Route 57, Elyria, Ohio. Members of the VFW Post 1079 will conduct a military service at 6:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Brenda Carol Alltop, 61, a resident of the Byron Center Road in Grand Rapids, Mich., and a former resident of Belington, departed this life at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in the Home of Hope Hospice Care Facility in Grand Rapids, Mich., following an extended illness. Death was attributed to cancer.
She was born July 20, 1941, at Spencer, a daughter of Frances Alltop Wiley, who survives, and the late Herbert Lee Alltop.
She was formerly married to John Bucher, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Todd Bucher, Grand Rapids, Mich.; three daughters, Rebel "Margie" Braman, Charlotte, Mich., Tina McClelland, Hastings, Mich., and Lisa Ford, Florida; two sisters, Barbara Newell, Fairmont, and Shirley Poe, Schwartz Creek, Mich.; two brothers, Ronald Alltop, Grafton, Ohio, and David Alltop, Richmond, Va.; nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Alltop was a 1959 graduate of the Belington High School and had lived in Michigan since 1967. She was a homemaker and a Baptist by faith.

She was born April 15, 1931, in Kanawha Head, a daughter of Charity Rebecca Riley Riley, who survives at Kanawha Head, and the late Sherman Riley.
On Feb. 17, 1947, she married Walter Anderson, who survives.

Ira D. Anderson, 61, of Reeves Drive, Wellsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his home.
He was born Dec. 13, 1940, at Philippi, a son of the late William V. Anderson and Lavada Bennett Anderson.
On April 19, 1962, he married Helen Louise Higgins Anderson, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, David W. Anderson and wife, June, Elkins; two daughters, Mrs. Rusty (Shirley A.) Francis, Wellsburg, and Mrs. Darin (Kimberly Lynn) MacFarland, Wheeling; three brothers, Michael W. Anderson, Fairmont, Charles W. Anderson, Elkins, and Dennis Gifford, North Carolina; two sisters, Sharon Jenkins and Betty Balania, both of Virginia; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Gregory A. Anderson.
Mr. Anderson retired from Windsor Power Plant. He was a member of the American Legion 0184 in Baltimore, Md., and a member of the United Mine Workers 6362. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during peace time.
He was a Protestant by faith.

Ira D. Anderson, 61, of Reeves Drive, Wellsburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at his home.

Martha J. Andrews
Martha Joann Andrews, 69, of Route 3, Bridgeport, died at 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2002, at Ruby Memorial Hosital.
She was born May 29, 1933, the daughter of Melvin Lane of Hacker Valley and the late Bertha Alice Lewis Lane.
Surviving in addition to her father is her daughter-in-law, Caroline Amelia Andrews, Aiken, S.C.; two grandchildren, Vanessa Lynn Loughry and husband, Gary, Newport News, Va., and Jesse George Andrews II, Aiken, S.C.; two sisters, Patricia Gum and husband, Clifford, Hacker Valley, and Jeanie Ware and husband, Shorty, Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.
One son, David Gene Andrews, is deceased.
Mrs. Andrews attended the Evangel Baptist Church in Bridgeport.

Raymond P. Anger, 64, of Route 3, Elkins, died at 11:21 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, in University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Mr. Anger was born Sept. 16, 1937, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of the late Steven and Anna Bisaha Anger.
On Dec. 20, 1962, in Akron, Ohio, he married Mary E. Moyer Anger, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael Anger, Blacksburg, Va., and Eric Anger, Morgantown; four daughters, Kelly Hart, Blairsville, Pa., Cynthia Fortner, Dallas, Texas, Cristian Bulatko, Mocksville, N.C., and Kimberly Anger, Dallas, Texas; a brother, Richard Anger, Barberton, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
Mr. Anger attended the schools of Ohio and was a self-employed carpenter and retired in 1999 as a superintendent for I.L. Long Construction Co. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Elkins.

Amy S. Harlan Arami, 41, a native of Orville, Ohio, a former resident of Cheshire, Conn., and since 1996, a resident of Ocala, Fla., departed this life Friday, March 1, 2002, at her home. Her death was unexpected.
She was a daughter of the late Gilbert Harlan and Shirley Harlan.
Surviving are two sons, Justin and Andrew Arami, both of Ocala, Fla.; three brothers, Tim, Patrick and Michael Harlan, all of Ohio; one sister, Rosemary Luzzi, New Haven, Conn.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a companion, Vincent Florenzo, Ocala, Fla.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jonathan Paul Harlan.
Arami was the marketing manager for Raney’s Truck Stop and Subway and was a member of the Wednesday Night Mixed League at the Galaxy East Lanes at Ocala, Fla.

Regana Arbaugh, 81, of Circleville, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2002, at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg.

Arlin Arbogast
Arlin "Bube" Arbogast, 79, a former resident of Elkins, and more recently of the Norton Community, passed away Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at 3:54 a.m. at his residence. He had been in failing health since March.
He was born Jan. 14, 1923, at Valley Head, a son of the late Marvin and Mary Luckey Arbogast.
On Nov. 13, 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Carrie Rachel Wegman, who survives in Norton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Geraldine R. Robers of Milton, Fla., and Glenda J. King of Elkins; seven sons, Delmas E. Johnson of Kerens, Roger D. Pritt of Newton, Ala., Henry Allen Arbogast, Marvin E. Arbogast and James R. Arbogast, all of Elkins, Gary F. Arbogast of Norton, and Danny L. Argobast of El Paso, Texas; one sister, Elva Rutherford of Norton; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents are two grandsons, Delmas Johnson Jr. and Jeffery Arbogast; and two brothers, Everett and Burl Arbogast; and two infant children.
He was a retired veteran, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post 29, American Legion, and a Catholic by faith.
Friends will be received at the F.E. Runner Funeral Home today after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the Runner chapel Thursday at 1 p.m. Pastor Neil Parsons of the St. George United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the American Legion Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale. The Tygart Valley Post 3627 VFW and the H.W. Denzil E. Arbogast
Denzil E. "Rooster" Arbogast, 80, a former resident of the Ward Road, Elkins and Baltimore City, and a recent resident of Twin Oaks Road, Severn, Md., for 35 years, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2002, at his residence. He had been in failing health for the past six month.
He was born Oct. 15, 1921, at Elkins, a son of the late Benjamin and Amanda Sacks Arbogast.
He was united in marriage to the former Margaret R. Arbogast, who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1994, and at the time of her death, they had been married for 52 years.
He is survived by three sons, Denzil "Denny" Arbogast of Elkins, Roger Lee Arbogast of Severn, Md., and Garry Rex Arbogast of Hanover, Md.; one daughter, Elizabeth Marie Lambert of Severn, Md.
He also raised five foster children, Margaret, Betty, Richard, Beverly and Lisa; one brother, Charles Arbogast of Severn, Md.; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were one brother, John Arbogast; two sisters, Virgie Ferguson and Helen Henry; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
He was employed at Bethlehem Steel Corp at Key Hwy., Baltimore, Md. as a welder and burner for more than 30 years, retiring in 1979. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved working on and buying antique cars and trucks, which he restored. He was also a recycler, having walked everyday, picking up cans. He was a Pentecostal by faith.
Friends will be received at F.E. Runner Funeral Home Chapel today after 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Don L. Arbogast
Don L. Arbogast, 65, a former resident of Elkins and for the past 30 years a resident of Ashland, Va., departed this life Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
He was born June 22, 1937, in Glady, a son of the late Sam and Pearl Arbogast.
He is survived by one son, Don Jr. and wife, Cindy; and two daughters, Vickie Plum and husband, Dale, and Cathy Langevin and husband Alan, all of Elkins; five grandchildren, Crystal, Ethan and Logan Arbogast, Jessica Plum and Kyle Langevin; five sisters and eight brothers, Jeff Arbogast, John "Mutt" Arbogast, Dale Arbogast, Betty Webley and Amentha Currence, all of Elkins, Juliet V. Price, Lois A. Hoover, Mary B. Luzader, Robert W. Arbogast and Ira Sam Arbogast, all of Ohio, David R. Arbogast of Texas, Claud D. Arbogast of Tennessee, and Jerry Joe Arbogast of Tunnelton.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.
Mr. Arbogast was a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge No. 168 AF & AM and was the past president of the Reedy Creek Ruritan Club.
Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at Concord Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, Va. The Reid Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements for Don L. Arbogast. From 31 Dec 2002.

Erma M. Arbogast
Erma Mary Arbogast, 90, of Circleville, died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002, in Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg, Va.
She was born July 22, 1911, in Circleville, a daughter of the late Isaac G. and Effie Wimer Cook.
On Jan. 31, 1928, she married Richard Vosler Arbogast, who preceded her in death May 19, 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Wanda Lee Grimes, Circleville, and Jacqueline Emmart, Woodstock, Va.; and four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall and Frank Cook; and a sister, Sally Rymer.
Mrs. Arbogast was employed by the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., for 30 years.
She was a member of the Circleville United Methodist Church.
Funeral Arrangements: Friends will be received Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Basagic Funeral Home in Franklin. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel. Freddie Arbogast
Freddie Arbogast, 72, a life long resident of Valley Head and a patient of Colonial Place since April, passed away Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at 2:30 a.m.
He was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Valley Head, a son of the late Walter and Eva Abrogast.
He had never married.
He is survived by two sisters, Edith Swecker of Valley Head, and Lillian Dodrill of Valley Head; one brother, Troy Arbogast of Grafton; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were four brothers, Raymond, Orval, Junior and Robert Keith Arbogast.
He was a clerk for various stores in the Valley Head area, including Bill Marshall’s and Harris Morris. He was employed at Labcraft.
He was a member of the Friendship Community Church, where he served as trustee and took care of the church for several years. He was a Baptist by faith.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Friends will be received at Friendship Community Church Wednesday after 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the church on Thursday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Neale M. Arbogast
Neale M. Arbogast, 67, a resident of the Tygart Valley Apartments, Elkins, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2002, in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in his usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
Born April 16, 1935, in Huttonsville, he was the son of the late Arnold and Pearl Cutright Arbogast.
He had never married.
Neale is survived by three sisters, Ruth Fridley, Bailey, N.C., Mrs. John (Ann) Agostinelli, Cannonsburg, Pa., and Mrs. Charles (Sandra) Sites, Mateo, Fla.; and two brothers, William "Bill" Arbogast and wife, Janet, Mill Creek, and Terry Arbogast and wife, Joan, Landsdale, Pa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were a sister, Rosalyn Skidmore, and a brother, Paul Arbogast.
He was a self-employed electrician and a Protestant by faith.
He was a member of the H.W. Daniels Post No. 29 American Legion and a veteran, and served during the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Army.

Pamela Sue Higgins Arbogast, 52, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002.
The family will receive friends at Wilkerson Funeral Home Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Arbogast, a native of Elkins, moved to Greenville, N.C., in 1981 and was employed as a purchasing agent at Singer Furniture in Chocowinity for a number of years. In 1993, she moved to Chocowinity, where she was a member of Chocowinity United Methodist Church. She had been employed as a receptionist at Brown-Wood Automobile dealership in Greenville since 1996.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald H. Arbogast; one son, Timothy M. Arbogast of Grimesland; one daughter, Cynthia B. Arbogast of Chocowinity; two grandchildren, Nichole Lahocki and Dillon Arbogast; four brothers, Russell Higgins Jr., Brooks Higgins, David Higgins and Preston Higgins, all of Elkins; and one sister, Mary Davis of Elkins. Sena B. Arbogast
Sena Belle Arbogast, 83, a former resident of Valley Head, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2002, at 5:55 p.m. at Nella’s Inc., where she had been a patient for the past 17 months.
She was born March 4, 1919, at Blue Springs, a daughter of the late Jacob Hewitt and Rethia Elmira Dodrill Vandevender.
She was united in marriage to Burton C. Arbogast, who survives at Valley Head.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Charles O. (Phyllis) Sharp of Valley Head; eight sons, William Ray Arbogast and wife, Linda, Walter Ashley Arbogast and wife, June, Fred Clark Arbogast and wife, Judy, Charles Bennie Arbogast, Ronald Wayne Arbogast and wife, Wanda, James Mitchell Arbogast and wife, Susie and Michael Allen Arbogast and wife, Rose, all of Valley Head and Gene Edward Arbogast and wife, Renona, of Nettie; 40 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sons, Charles Wayne and Donald Ray Arbogast; three sisters, Alma Welch, Beulah McCloud and Mary Eva Leary; three brothers, Edwin, Elvin and Archie Vandevender; and three grandchildren.
Mrs. Arbogast was employed as a cook at the Country Roads Restaurant and had also worked at Davis & Elkins College. She worked at Canal Fulton in Akron, Ohio, and retired from Nella’s Nursing Home, where she was employed as an aide.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge 103 of Huttonsville and attended the Brady Gate Church.

James Anthony "Tony" Arman, 28, a resident of Hambleton, departed this life early Sunday morning, Dec. 8, 2002, at the Davis Memorial Hospital shortly after being admitted.
He was born Jan. 2, 1974, in Parsons, the son of Kathy Hinkle Dumire and his stepfather, Jerry, Parsons, and his father, James B. "Moon" Arman, Davis.
He was twice married, first to Stephanie Dragovich Arman, Leadmine, and second to Shanna Hebb Arman, Elkins.
Also surviving are three sons, James Earl "Jamie" Arman, Leadmine, Dylan Arman, Elkins, and Austin James Whetzel, Petersburg; two daughters, Natasha Ware, Horseshoe, and Haleigh Arman, Elkins; one brother, Richard Arman, Hambleton; six sisters, Angela Dumire, Jerica Dumire and Tabitha Dumire, all of Parsons, Evelyn Cassidy and husband, Phil, Hambleton, Mary Slavin, Pennsylvania, and Phyllis Ann Kerens and husband, Archie, Parsons; his maternal grandmother, Catherine Hinkle, Hambleton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Richard Hinkle; his paternal grandparents, Boyd and Pearl Jewell Mensch; and one sister, Roberta Hinkle.
Mr. Arman was a graduate of Tucker County High School with the class of 1993. He was a former employee of the PCM Co., as an electrician, and at the time of his death was a self-employed carpenter. He was an avid car enthusiast and he loved hunting and fishing.

Juanita June Armentrout, 72, of Lansing, N.C., died Sunday morning, Oct. 20, 2002, at Watauga Medical Center.
Mrs. Armentrout was born in Parsons, on Feb. 15, 1930, a daughter of the late Burl McDonald and Minnie Messenger McDonald.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Max McDonald and Leonard McDonald; and one sister, Martha Jean Ford.
She is survived by her husband, Harlan Worth Armentrout, at the home; one son, Timothy James Armentrout of Lansing, N.C.; three daughters, Patricia Jean Rankin of Starke, Fla., Ellen Ruth Gambardella of Charlotte, N.C., and Brenda Beeman of Lake Butler, Fla.; one brother, Stephen McDonald of Parsons; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker.

Mary K. Armentrout
Mary Kathleen "Kathy" Armentrout, 36, a resident of 202 Ellis Ave., Elkins, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 2, 2002, at her home. Death was attributed to breast cancer.
She was born June 17, 1966 at Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of Larry and Brenda Coriell, both of whom reside at Virginia, Beach, Va.
On May 17, 1986, she was married to Joseph Mitchell "Mitch" Armentrout, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are two daughters, Samantha Ashley and Tiffany Alexis Armentrout, both at home; three brothers, Randy Coriell and wife, Tammy, of Moyock, N.C., Michael Coriell and wife, Teresa, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Marty Green of Ironton, Ohio; one sister, Amanda Shepherd of Elkins; and four nieces, Holly and Michelle Coriell, both of Virginia Beach, Va., and Jessica and Stephanie Shepherd, both of Elkins.
Kathy owned and operated Delmarva Associated Services with her husband, Mitch. She was devoted to spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed photography, boating, decorating, writing, computers, motorcycles and playing the flute.
She was a member of the Elkins Church of God and Family Worship Center. Kathy will be sadly missed and remembered for being a very caring and loving person that made a difference in the many lives she touched.

Gerald Francis Armstrong, 77, a resident of Chenoweth Creek Road, passed away Thursday evening, Sept. 19, 2002, at his residence.

Gerald F. Armstrong
Gerald Francis Armstrong, 77, of Chenoweth Creek Road, passed away at home on Sept. 19, 2002, after a brief illness.
He was born March 20, 1925, in Adolph, a son of the late Narvil Russel Armstrong and Flaura Ellen Fincham Armstrong.
On May 5, he celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary with Reta Marie Wyatt Armstrong, who resides in their Chenoweth Creek Road home. He had been previously married to Jo Ellen Scheitlin, who lives in Columbus, Ohio.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Joe B. Armstrong, Beverly; five sons, Randall D. Armstrong, Barrington, N.H., David A. Armstrong, Belington, Daniel A. Yokum, Coalton, Charles D. "Wayne" Armstrong, Hickory, N.C., and Rodney L. Armstrong, Petersburg; two daughters, Deanna "Dee" F. Armstrong, Fairmont, and Lisa M. Armstrong, Abingdon, Md.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Russell A. Armstrong, Dale W. Armstrong and Herbert C. Armstrong; and three sisters, Gertrude L. Bright, Bernice O. Brock and Genevieve O. Shannon.
Mr. Armstrong graduated with the honor of Valedictorian from Adolph High School in 1942 and graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in 1943. He served in the Navy during World War II in Australia and the Phillipines as a ship’s carpenter on a floating dry dock. He was stationed at the USNTS, Great Lakes, Ill., USS Arden, and Sub Repair Unit, Navy 137. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Carpenter’s Mate, 2nd Class and was awarded the Pacific Theatre and American Theatre Ribbons and the Victory Medal.
After his discharge, he began a lifelong career as a carpenter and was the carpenter foreman or superintendent on such notable constructions as the Elkins Federal Building, then-Gov. Jay Rockefeller’s home in Dunmore, Greenbank Radio Astronomy Laboratory, Davis Memorial Hospital, Memorial General Hospital, Davis & Elkins College, Citizen’s National Bank, Elkins Junior High School, the homes of several dignitaries in the Washington, D.C. area and his home on Chenoweth Creek Road.
Mr. Armstrong was active in the Carpenter’s Local Union 614 where he served as president of the District Council and business agent. He was instrumental in establishing the Carpenter’s Health Fund of West Virginia, the Carpenter’s Pension Plan and the Carpenter’s Apprenticeship Program which has helped many carpenters and their families obtain health insurance, retirement assistance, and additional opportunities in their field.
He was a devoted father and husband who worked tirelessly to provide a comfortable home and education for his children. Many people will remember him for his highly intelligent mind, his quick wit, and his stanch support of the fair and equitable treatment of others regardless of their race or social standing. Mr. Armstrong had a passion for politics and government affairs. In recent years, he had been an active presence at Randolph County Tax Study, County Commission, and Board of Education meetings where he promoted those same values.
He was a member of Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Friends may call at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday. On Monday, Mr. Armstrong will be moved to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints near Beverly, where friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with Bishop Lynn Muhlestein, Elder Danny Yokum and Ralph Bennett officiating and interment will follow at Mountain State Memorial Gardens, where full military rites will be accorded by members of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Elkins and H.W. Wilson W. Armstrong
Wilson W. Armstrong, 79, a resident of 924 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at 9:29 a.m. in the Davis Memorial Hospital emergency room. He had been in his usual health and death was unexpected.
Born Oct. 26, 1922, at Mill Creek, he was the son of the late Cecil and Bernice Ross Armstrong.
He was united in marriage to the former Lena Trimboli, who preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 1970.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Edna) Carr of Elkins; and two brothers, Cecil V. "June" Armstrong and wife, Louise, of Newport News, Va., and Donald R. Armstrong of Cleveland, Ohio. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his parents and wife were four sisters, Elda "Sammy" Watson, Polly Krause, Geraldine "Tootsie" Carr and Arlene Williams.
Wilson worked for Armstrong Masonry and then continued on his own as a self-employed mason. He was a Methodist by faith and a member of the Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army during World War II.
Graveside services will be today at 3 p.m. at the Elkins Memorial Gardens, formerly the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery at Elkins. The Rev. Walter Blough, retired Church of the Brethren minister, will officiate. Interment will follow. The Tygart Valley Post 3647 VFW and the H.W. Al O. Arnold
Al Odis Arnold, 84, of Davis, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2002, at Cortland Acres Nursing Home, Thomas.
He was born May 22, 1918, in Wilson, a son of the late Isaac and Lula Mae Fike Arnold.
He is survived by one sister, Hazel Gatto of Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audrie; three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Arnold was retired from the coal mines. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Odd Fellows.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home today from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be at Hinkle Funeral Chapel Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Richard L. Ash
Richard L. "Uncle Dick" Ash, 65, of 1662 Warchester Ave., Lake Milton, Ohio, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at his home. Death was attributed to cancer.
Mr. Ash was born March 9, 1937, at Harding, a son of the late Louie "Shorty" Ash and Nora Hebb.
On May 21, 1966, he married Charlotte Day, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Patrick and Shannon Harnichar, Newton Falls, Ohio; two sisters, Shirley Bradley, Coalton, and Nyoka Acord, Harding; one brother and sister-in-law, Domnic and Janie Ash, Junior; three nephews, Louis Bartlett and wife, Kay, Lake Milton, Ohio, Gerald Bartlett and wife, Willie, Bristolville, Ohio, and Domnic Bartlett, Lake Milton, Ohio, and several other nieces and nephews; and two granddaughters, Rachel and Hanna Harnichar, both of Newton Falls, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marcalene Kyer and Rosemary Bartlett Biskupich.
He lived in Lake Milton, Ohio, for 40 years, formerly of West Virginia. He retired in December 2001 as a laborer for Everbright Blacktop Sealer. He previously worked at Baird Brothers Sawmill and Rockwell International Buff Department until 1976. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He graduated from Coalton High School in Coalton. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 737 in Lake Milton and was a member of the Fat Man’s club in Lake Milton. He loved to coon hunt, make wine and can hot peppers with Norm Vebaski, Terry Morran and his nephew, Domnic.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at Lake Milton Baptist Temple at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be at Palmyra Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Youngstown, Ohio, 44512. From 6 Aug 2002.

Elwin Ashby
Elwin "Hun" Ashby, 77, a resident of the Talbott Road in Belington, was pronounced deceased upon arrival at 9:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at Broaddus Hospital in Philippi. He had been in failing health for some time.
He was born on April 4, 1925, at Scotts Run in Monongalia County, a son of the late Bunt and Mable George Ashby.
In December 1946, he was united in marriage to the former Norma Jean Smallridge, who preceded him in death on Dec. 6, 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Doug E. Ashby and Jerry Ashby, both of Belington; one daughter, Janet L. Spencer, Oklahoma City, Okla.; one half brother, Julius Paolini, Hudson, Ohio; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilton and Elman Ashby.
Mr. Ashby attended the schools of Barbour County. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II in France. Belgium, Germany and England. He also served in the Korean Conflict being stationed at Ft. Knox. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Belington and was a retired self-employed businessman.
At the request of the deceased his remains will be cremated. His cremains will be interred in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington, Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements. From 5 Aug 2002.

Sherry H. Aston
Sherry Hicks Aston, 46, a resident of Elkins, and a resident of Virginia Beach, Va., for the past four months, passed away Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, in the Norfolk Medical Center, where she was admitted on Thursday. She had been in her usual health and death was sudden and unexpected.
She was born Jan. 18, 1956, in Washington, D.C., a daughter of Tom and Irene Hicks, who survive in Elkins.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three daughters, Renee Lynn, Crystal Jean and Angel L., all of Virginia Beach; one son, David Aston Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; four sisters, Joyce Hicks, Deborah "Debby" Bradford, Sharon Rae "Penny" Hatters, all of Virginia Beach, and Jennifer Lynn Bussy, at home; three brothers, Thomas Raymond Hicks Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va., John Wesley Hicks of Sarasota, Fla., and Tony Lee Hicks of Elkins; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including a special uncle, Bill Hicks of Highlands, N.C.
She completed high school in Randolph County and received her CNA license at the Elkins Vocational School under the direction of Ruth Capalinger. She attended Scotts Presbyterian Church.
She was employed by Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs as a CNA and also worked at Pizza Hut, until becoming disabled in an automobile accident on Sept. 7, 1997.
She enjoyed life and spending time with her family and friends. She had a very energetic and outgoing personality and never met a stranger. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Virginia. A visitation was held on Monday. Graveside services will be conducted from the Brick Church Cemetery in Huttonsville Thursday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Frank Long, pastor of the Mill Creek Memorial Mission Church will officiate. Interment will follow. The F.E. Runner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. From 11 Sep 2002.

Virginia R. Auvil
Virginia Ruth Auvil, 88, a resident of Broaddus Hospital Long Term Care, Philippi, and a former resident of Baughman Towers, Philippi, passed away at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in Broaddus Hospital.
She was born Jan. 24, 1914, at St. George, a daughter of the late Marvin and Bessie Auvil Nestor.
She was united in marriage to Wayne Auvil, who preceded her in death in 1978.
Surviving are five daughters and three sons-in-law, Geraldine Marsh and Willodine Godwin, both of Philippi, Phyllis and husband, Larry Barclay, Fairmont, Joetta and husband, Francis Endrizzi, and Roberta and husband, Howard Gibson, all of Wilmington, N.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Encil and wife, Helen Auvil, Greer, S.C.; four sisters, Lucille Hershman, Fairmont, Leota Bolner, Weston, Gertrude Moore, Tunnelton, and Madeline Landers, Martinsburg; two brothers, Dale Nestor, Buckhannon, and Deryl Nestor, Alabama; 16 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Brushy Fork EUB Church.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi, after 7 p.m. today. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in Pifer Mountain Cemetery. From 14 Mar 2002.
