Nicholas County Historical & Genealogical Society
The Nicholas County Historical & Genealogical Society was formed November 4, 1982 in honor of John Farley Trimble. Throughout Farley's life, he had a great interest in the study and preservation of Nicholas County history. Upon his death, his wife, Annetta, asked that a Nicholas County Historical Society be formed in memory of her husband and in lieu of flowers, contributions be made toward the establishment of the Historical Society.

Since it's formation, the society has published two family heritage books, and established a one-room school museum, and a farm house museum, microfilmed the early editions of the county's two newspapers.
