EDENS, ALVA RAY

A. R. "Ray" Edens 61 of Kanawha Two Mile, died Saturday May 5, 1984 in Kanawha Valley Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was a 37 year employee for FMC South Charleston and was a veteran of WW2. Surviving wife, Mary Ellen (TATE) Edens, daughters, Mrs. Brenda Van Cleef of Nashville, Tenn. Sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Thompson and Mrs. Phyllis Newhouse both of Charleston, one granddaughter. Memorial service will be 2:30 pm. Monday at Bartlett-Burdett-Cox Funeral Home. with the Rev. Charles Scraggs officiating. The body will be cremated. The family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association. (Alva was the son of James Albert Edens & Rebecca Myrtle LAYNE)

EDENS, BEN R

BEN R. "BENNY" EDENS 89 of 4873 Sissonville Drive died March 28, 1987 in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. He was an Army veteran of World War I, a Protestant and a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. Surviving: wife, Norris C. Edens; daughter Mrs. Eloise Wood of Pensacola Fla. brother, Jack D. of Sissonville, sisters, Mrs. Lessie Jordan of Charleston, Mrs. Easel Pauley of Big Chimney; three grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren. Service will be 11 am. Monday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Edens officiating. Burial will be in Edens Family Cemetery. Mrs. Dimma Anna Edens 84 of 129 Pinewood Road Elkview, died Tuesday at home May 19, 1981 after a long illness. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Surviving sons, Noble of Kent. Oh, Orville of Canton, OH., daughter Mrs. Freda Summers of Elkview, Mrs. Reba Gay Carrigan of Sycamore, Ill. brothers, Howard Ashworth of Charleston, Owen Ashworth of Laura , Oh 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. HURRICANE- John Anderson Edens 77 of Route 3. Hurricane died Thursday 12/6/1984 in Putnam General Hospital, Teays Valley after a short illness. He was a retired mechanic for former Joe Eads Motors in Dunbar. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Surviving wife, Virginia, brother Ulysses of Tornado. Service will be a 11 am Saturday in Casdorph-Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans with the Rev. Charles Sisk officiating. Burial will be in Cunningham Memorial Park St. Albans. EDENS, LAWRENCE CLAUDIUS

LAWRENCE "COTTON" EDENS 75 of Charleston, died Saturday Feb. 21, 1998 at the home of his daughter, Brenda Jean Stone of Sardinia, Oh, after a long illness. He was a truck driver for McLean Trucking with 26 years of service, and an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Kanawha Two-Mile II GospelTabernacle Church. He was born in Charleston, WV. Also surviving; son, Kelly Edens of Lake Waccamaw, N.C. daughter Barbara Sue Steel of Loveland, Ohio; brothers, Emory T. Edens, Ralph Edens and Russell Edens of Charleston, the Rev. Clarence Edens of St. Albans; sister Thelma Taylor of Charleston; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. H. W. "Billy" Lanham officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. (Lawrence was the son of Lawrence M. She was a member of Cozaddale Baptist Temple. Surviving: husband Lawrence, daughters Mrs. Brenda Jane Stone of Cincinnati, Mrs Barbara Sue Hurst of Loveland, OH son Kelly A. of Lake Waccamaw, N.C. stepmother, Flora Hughes of Duck, sister, Mrs. Irene Ingram of Shrewsberry, W.Va. brothers, Olaf and David Hughes both of Clay. W.Va., Delbert Hughes of Nitro, W.VA. Orville Hughes of St. Albans, James Hughes of Omaha, Neb. Jerry Hughes of Dayton, Billy Hughes of Wellington; seven grandchildren. ULYSSES S. EDENS 75 of 408 Falls Creek Road, Tornado, died Monday Feb. ? 1986 at home after a long illness. He was a retired pipe fitter for Kaiser Aluminum Corp. and was a member of Pipe fitters Union and Gateway Church of Christ, St. Albans. He was a lifelong resident of Kanawha County. Surviving wife, Sylvia May Edens, daughters Mrs. Peggy Carney of Charleston, Mrs. Dorothy Bowyer of St. Albans, Mrs. Donna Hebert of Vine Grove, Ky. Mrs Pamela Lung of Pompano Beach, Fla. Mrs. Sharon Smallwood and Mrs. Debbie Huffman, both of Chatsworth, Calif, son David U. of St. Albans, 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Service will be 1 pm. Columbus, Ohio�Owen R. Edwards 77 of Columbus, formerly of Montgomery, W.Va. died Wednesday at home after a long illness. He was a retired miner for Raymond City Coal Co. Ward, W.Va. He was a protestant and a 25-year resident of Columbus. Surviving: daughters, Mary E. Petery of Columbus, Peggy L. Snodgrass of Belle, W.Va, Martha A. Mullett of Glasgow, W.Va., Irene M. Spears of Lorain, Ohio; sons, Edward A. and Bert W. of Cleveland; sisters, Alice Abbott of Kincaid, W. va.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
