CAMP, William H.

William H. "Bill" Camp 72, 1927-1999, of Charleston died today, June 21, 1999, at home after a short illness. He was a retired deputy fire chief of Charleston, with 35 years of service, a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, Charleston Masonic Lodge 153, Scottish Rites Bodies, Beni Kedem Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters and was an emeritus member of the Oriental Band. He was Navy veteran of World II. Surviving; stepson, Roger Arbogast of Charleston, brother Tom Webb of Melbourne, Fla: aunt, Rose Wright of Charleston; grand-daughter Sarah Arbogast of Vero Beach, Fla. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Thomas N. smith officiating. Burial will be Mountain View Cemetery, Charleston. Friends my call from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to Shriner's Hospital, c/o 100 Quarrier St. Charleston, WV. 25301.

CAPERTON, Eliza (AMBLER)

Eliza Ambler Caperton, 5/17/1908 - 5/13/1991, the mother of Gov. Gaston Caperton, died this morning May 13, 1991 at her Charleston home after a home, after a long illness and complications resulting from pneumonia, according to the governor's office. She was 83. Mrs. Caperton was born in Japan, the daughter of Episcopal missionaries. She attended Hollins College and Medical College of Virginia. She married William Gaston Caperton Jr. in 1932. The longtime insurance executive died in in May 1989. Mrs. Caperton was active in many community affairs. The governor and first lady Rachael Worby spent Mother's Day at her side, said George Manahan, spokesman for the governor. They also were with her early today. In addition to the governor, Mrs. Caperton is survived by her daughter, Cary Caperton Owen of Asheville, N.C., six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Final funeral arrangements have not been made. The family request that people make donations to St. John's Episcopal Church in Mrs. Caperton's name. (Mrs. Capertons parents were: Rev. CARNEY, ELIZABETH MILLER

Elizabeth Miller Carney, 95, 10/11/1905 - 2/10/2001���of Dunbar died Feb. 10, 2001, in CAMC General Hospital after a long illness. She was a former employee of Jarrett Printing Co. and was a charter member of Dunbar Church of the Nazarene. She was a lifelong resident of Dunbar. Surviving: sons, Charles Carney of Frankford, James Carney of Dunbar, Fred Carney of Hurricane; daughters, Carolyn Gibb of Virginia, Elizabeth of Shanghai, China; sister, Ruth Miller Bonham of Charleston; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, at the funeral home with the Rev. Paul Sydenstricker officiating. Carney, Henry Ivan

1889 - 1968�Henry Ivan Carney born at Liberty, Putnam County, the owner of the former Carney Furniture Store on Washington St. West, in Charleston. Henry Ivan Carney 79 of Tornado, died Sunday Dec. 8, 1968 in Southern Hills Hospital, South Charleston. He was a resident of Tornado. Survivors; wife, Maude GOWER Carney, half brothers and sisters: Delbert Carney of Huntington, Roy Carney of Dunbar, Milford Carney and the Rev. Willard Carney of Charleston; Mrs. Vella Derrick, Mrs. Dorothy Roberts and Mrs. Ruth Knapp of Charleston. Service will be conducted Tuesday at 1 p.m.in the Cunningham Funeral Home in Charleston by the Rev. Thomas Clarke. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar. CARNEY, KATHLEEN C.

Kathleen Constance Carney, 92, of Charleston died Jan. 20, 1997, in St. Francis Hospital after a short illness. She was a retired secretary from McJunkin Corp. and Charleston Electrical Supply with 40 years' service and a member of West Side Methodist Church. Surviving relatives: Helen Chapman and Roger Chapman of South Charleston, Barry Kelly of Charleston. Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Hallett officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. CARNEY, PAUL McCLELLAN

Paul McClellan Carney, president of Dunbar Lumber Co., Died Sunday April 14, 1985 in Thomas Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. He was 73. Carney of 1820 Fletcher Ave. Dunbar was a lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians, a past Dunbar Police Commissioner, a native of Putnam County, attended Duke University, was a Mason and Shiner a member of VFW and American Legion, a disabled Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Dunbar Rotary Club. Surviving wife, Lelia FISH Carney, sons Paul A. of Dunbar, Owen L. of Cross Lanes, sister, Mrs. Romaine O. Carney of Dunbar and two grandchildren. Service will be a 1p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church, Dunbar, with the Rev. George R. Pauley. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park Mausoleum, St. Albans, with Masonic rites being conducted by the Dunbar Masonic Lodge. CARNEY, Poindexter

1872-1943�Poindexter Carney 72, former employee of the Libby-Owens Ford Glass Co. died yesterday afternoon at his home in Dunbar after a long illness. The body was removed to Noble Long mortuary. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alva (CLENDENIN) Carney, four sons, Lester, Fleming and Ray Carney all of Dunbar and Owen Carney of Akron, Ohio, five daughters, Mrs. Alfred Tonei, Mrs. Clarence Jones and Mrs. A. F. Nally, all of Los Angeles, Ca. and Mrs. Vaughan McKnight and Mrs. R. W. Harold, both of Charleston; two brothers, Ernest Carney of Liberty and Jonathan Carney of Dunbar; and three sisters, Mrs. W. F. Asbury of Liberty, Mrs. Ervin Scott of Paradise and Mrs. Wesley Stover of Nitro. (Poindexter's parents were Eldridge Carney and Margaret RAINES)

CARNEY, THE REV. WILLARD F.

The Rev. Willard F. Carney 69 of 710 York Ave, died Thursday Oct. 15, 1981 after an apparent heart attack. He collapsed while holding a revival meeting in Athens Oh, and died later in an Athens hospital. He was owner of Prayer and Faith Publishing House, Charleston and was pastor of Prayer and Faith Wesleyan Church. He was an evangelist minister on the radio and a lifelong resident of the Kanawha Valley. Surviving wife, Mary MARKHAM Carney; daughters, Mrs. Rhea Faith Hayman of Syracuse Ohio, Angela Hope Carney of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Charity Renee Stone of Charleston, Mrs. Robin Denise Saterfield of Athens, Ohio, son William Franklin of Charleston, sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Roberts of Charleston, Mrs. Ruth Knapp of Sissonville, brothers, Milford of Florida, Robert Roy of Nitro, five grandchildren. CARSON, WILLIAM B. 1853-1939

One of the community's oldest and best known residents, William B. Carson, aged 86 years, died at 5:15 o,clock this morning, December 6, 1939 in the home of a son, J. Elbert Carson, 612 Center avenue, North Charleroi. Mr. Carson who came to Charleroi and Dunlevy over thirty-nine years ago from Kanawha Co. WVa. Born in Scotland on March 9, 1853, he is a son of James Carson and Mrs. Elizabeth Blyth Carson. He had been failing in health some time and his condition during the past three months had been serious. Mr. Carson was a retired grocery proprietor. For many years he conducted a store where the C.L. Melenyzer building now stands. He was a devout Christian and until his health failed he regularly attended services of the Washington Avenue Presbyterian church, serving for a number of years on the church board of elders. The Carson family is one of the most active in the church's congregation. Mrs. Carson, the formar Mary Stoffel, died November 8, 1934. Surviving are five sons; George W. Carson of Charleroi, J. Elbert Carson of North Charleroi, S. Edward Carson of Fallowfield township, J. Fred Carson of North Charleroi, and W. Earl Carson of Belle Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. James Johns of Clover Hill, and Mrs. Frank Crise of Bentleyville; one brother, David Carson of Charleston, W. Va.; one sister, Mrs. Christina Carson-Gibson, of Charleston, W. Va.; twenty-six grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death two sisters, Grace M. Carson-Copenhaver, and Mary Carson-Copenhaver.

William F. Carney 80 of 831 Walnut St. died Monday, May 10, 1943 in a Charleston Hospital. Services will be held Thursday 2pm at Shepherds Methodist Church, Rev. W. R. Moyer and Rev. Marie Green officiating, assisted by Rev. C. H. Scragg. Burial in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar, WV. Body will lie in state one hour. Body will be taken to the residence Wednesday, 3 p.m. He was the founder of the Carney Furniture Co. of 1319 Washington St. West. Noble Long mortuary.(William was the son of Silas Carney & Lucinda FISHER)

L. Pauline Casto, 79, of St. Albans died Sept. 14, 1994, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, after a long illness. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Surviving; sisters, Bernice F. Musick of St. Albans, Barbara M. Meadows of Lantana Fla., several nieces and nephews. Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, W.Va. with the Rev. CAVENDER, KENNETH W. "KAYO"

City man dies at Golf Course. A golfer died Sunday morning Sept. 4, 1989 before teeing off at Sandy Brae golf course in Clendenin, according to a golf course employee. Kenneth W. "Kayo" Cavender 63 of Route 1, Box 247 1/2 Charleston, apparently suffered a heart attack. Another golfer tried to resuscitate him, but was unsuccessful, according to the employee, who said Cavender was dead when the ambulance arrived at 7:35 am. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a lifelong resident of Kanawha County and co-author of a Pocatalico bicentennial history publication. Surviving wife, Juanita M. Cavender, son Billie R. McNeely of Sissonville, daughter Diana S. Tackett of Charleston, mother Mabel Cavender of Charleston, sisters, Betty Long and Imogene Cline, both of Cross Lanes, Hilda Sigmon of Dunbar, Jewell Ware of Summersville, six grandchildren. Services will be 1pm. Wednesday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Jenkins Cemetery, Kanawha Two-Mile. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-9 today at the funeral home.
