WILL OF JACOB WELCH

I Jacob Welch of the County of Kanawha and State of Virginia do here make my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say

1st I desire that all the perishable part of my estate be immediately sold after my decease and out of the monies arising there from and all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid

2nd After the payment and funeral expenses I give to my grandchildren Lucinda and Elizabeth Griffith daughters of Alexander Griffith and Sally his wife and the balance of the heirs to have an equal part of my estate real and personal of what nature or kind whatsoever it may be not herein before particularly disposed of I desire may be equally divided among my several grandchildren herein before named which I give to them their heirs executors, administrators and assigns forever and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my friend Alexander Griffith and John W. Doling Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. In witness I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 20th day of January, 1829. Signed sealed and declared by Jacob Welch as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence and hearing of us, who at his request and in his presence have subscribed our names as witnesses.

Philip Ballard, Gordon Ballard

At a Court held for Kanawha County the 10th day of August 1829, This last Will and Testament of Jacob Welch decd was proved by the oaths of Philip Ballard and Gordon Ballard subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be reordered.
